@IronMan30 I have no clue what is up with Level5 marketing, but feels like "Megaton Musashi" again. Impressive games with really polished up presentations and gameplay mechanics but they are released to no hype and nearly zero marketing in the West...
@Antraxx777 of course, I never meant that what they will be doing in the future as a first party studio. I'm just acknowledging the fact these that these people on some of my all time favourite entries in those franchises. But while you're at it, I don't understand why Namco is being so shy with Switch 2 support for now (only major non-anime game coming is "Elden Ring").
... I kept hoping there was a missing "2" in the news title, "Red Dead Redemption - 2 - Has Been Rated For The Switch 2"... but here we are, in the darkest timeline.
@Rentaro I was quite sad when "Elite Dangerous" forego the single player game to focus on the MMO only experience and as such I never played the game, but I did buy it being a huge fan of the whole series... so its a matter of finding some time away from my Switch 2 (strangely it was "Everspace" 1 and 2 that ended up filling this gap.. and "Rebel Galaxy Outlaw"!).
I just hope that "Star Citizen" at least manages to wrap up and release "Squadron 52" because a single player epic warfare campaign is what I am really about. Chris Roberts feels like the present day Molyneux, but at least Peter never took millions of dollars from his player base and I fear how things might end up on that whole affair.
You would think that something as a "straight forward" current gen upgrade to the "Inazuna Eleven" formula would take these many years of troubled development, but if they manage to make something that makes as happy as the latest "Captain Tsubasa" game, I will be there at the blowing whistle for sure.
This is like the "Starcitizen" of Nintendo games. Even if I am not exactly the #1 football fan on the staff, I do love this franchise and I am really looking forward to finally playing this.
@Danrenfroe2016 hmmm I do not understand this whole "pretty vs normal" virtual person representation, but I do mind that sometimes the models up close are incredibly low detail which I assume is the price we pay to have this running on Switch 2.
On a related note: Finished the main campaign last night. This was an awesome ride.
Having sold (and regretting it to this day) a PAL one I briefly owned way back when it was a cheap, free for all Cash Converters jackpot finds every other day, my NES Classic ended up being an excellent substitute. I also use MESEN emulator a lot not only to record gameplay but because of the debug features. I have always been interested in understanding how things work under the hood.
A bit of a new trend in the home-brew community is reverse engineering NES games to run on the SNES with added luxury of MSU-1 full motion video and CD audio soundtracks. Also consider the the NES library is a mere sample of the full Famicom library and I still discover to this day Japan exclusive releases (my latest discovery was "Wit's", TRON fans go look this up right now!).
Also consider the consoles legacy in modern age demakes. If you're a regular reader of our WAYPTW feature every Saturday you know I've been hooked for weeks on "UFO 50", a package of 50 games for a console that never existed with similar NES like capabilities.
While I don't use the Nintendo Classic services much nowadays, the possibility to play "Ice Hockey" online with a friend which used to play with me on the couch back in the day is a luxury. The sad and unexpected departure of Hitagaki-san this past week (right on my birthday, no less) also dictates I will be revisiting the "Ninja Gaiden" trilogy fairly soon (and since I have played them in their original NES format, I will be doing so on the NES-to-SNES home-brew port of the games which somehow is better than the official SNES release from 1995).
I also assume to no one's surprise I own an Anbernic retro handheld and the Famicom library is my #1 source of entertainment in endless hours of waiting for doctor appointments. Kunio-kun's entire 8-bit game library in the pocket anywhere, anytime? Why yes please, this is the future I wanted to live in.
PS: Apologies to original hardware enthusiasts, but once you play a NES game flicker free with the sprite-per-line limitations gone, you can never go back.
We are still trying to understand the aftermath on the Red Hat hack because that one has already been verified and it is quite substantial. I very much doubt that if this isn't someone impersonating the real Crimson Collective, then this hack will also prove to be quite real.
Actually I have had both mishaps with my home and capture buttons. And they ended up on my gameplay videos, mostly from fighting games and "Captain Tsubasa" of all things.
@dartmonkey I believe the other versions render the game in real time while the Switch version replaced this with full motion video for its entirety. This is why we can not explore in real time, they just pre-recorded the segments. Quite illogical.
Now a proper Switch 2 conversion... that would be fascinating.
Somehow found myself back home after a time-out from work and truly far are the times when there were no new game releases out in the Summer. With "Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound" complete just a few days ago, it’s all smooth sailing for "Shinobi: Art of Vegeance" which I reckon I’m about two thirds along. Not on my vacation cards were both "Hollow Knight: Silksong" and "UFO 50" (played 14 of the games so far), two amazing offerings I had to juggle into my gaming schedules. Plus my eagerly awaited "Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion" is living up to the original offering nearly limitless tinkering and customisation.
Games of the week is "Star Wars Outlaws". I was a bit wary by the bad first impressions from the press and feared Ubisoft had once again tried to byte off more than it could chew, but I am extremely happy how Massive Entertainment ported their game to Switch 2. Truly this is "Read Dead Redemption" from a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
"Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U" edition remains a solid favourite of the franchise for me, I picked up 7 on STEAM but did not pick up 8 yet... I really wanted to play Armour King on Switch 2, so I hope they make it happen because I want Namco to consider Switch 2 part of their target for main "classic" franchises like "Ridge Racer", "Ace Combat" and "Soulcalibur" along with "Tekken".
@gb_nes_gamer that score is my fault and I keep wanting to throw it at Switch 2 to see how it compares. Still no official word about anything (I opnened this article hoping the see "Ace 7" and "Nier Automata" on this list), but since the game is Unreal Engine powered and it was capped at 30fps, it would be a true waste if Namco doesn't give the game a proper optimization patch since it would make a lot of sense to use that extra horsepower to improve an already impressive port.
This is one of my eagerly awaited GOTY candidates and the PC Steamfest demo completely sold me on the reboot. This are not the news I was hoping to read 48 hours prior the game's launch date. Hopefully the next update brings better ones.
Oh, I'm not sure this is well know but "Wrestling Empire" on Switch has been updated with supports yo 100 character matches on Switch 2, making it on par with the PC version. It remains by far the other truly viable option on Switch for Wrestling games with "AEW Fight Forever" a somewhat distant second.
Feels like I take a chair shot to the head every time I am reminded that "Fire Pro Wrestling" is till not on Switch 1 or 2... On another note, I would have picked this up immediately if it wasn't digital only. Truly this generation will break me.
@Teksette nope, my PAL PS1 copy says "Air Combat" despite being called "Ace Combat" in Japan. Wonder what sort of trademark conflict in Europe there was back in the day...
Make sure you have a JPN account, I have very little faith "Macross II" will be released outside of Japan's eShop, the distribution rights of it have been a decades long nightmare to navigate.
@Oldstalk hey, you made a typo in there, you meant to write "F-Zero GX" but I get the confusion since the letters for "Windwaker" are all next to each other on the keyboard.
I felt great shame when meeting the Machina here because I was by this point of the journey hardwired in the belief they were the enemy so I wanted to kill them all and take revenge for the fallen people of Colony 9 and Fiora. How very "Human" of me...
The gameplay on "F-Zero GX" is strictly attached to those analogue "L" and "R" triggers on the Gamecube controller. It is simply impossible to achieve the same precision on the game without them. I am very disappointed with this decision, but I will just have to accept it... as long as a proper new "F-Zero" shows up this generation.
@Teksette wish I could be experiencing this for the first time all over again... that said, I've tripped on some of the new content already and am loving it.

Going to put this one with a "9" because it feels like I've been waiting for it for nine years... and it was worth the wait.

Incredible, that is every NAMCO franchise I want to have on Switch 2! (along with "Ridge Racer")

@ibookboyuk "Debris Infinity" is a very good game that was release in a very bad shape. I ended up helping the devs out with several bug reports.
