Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th March)

... Jim forgot my text! xP So here you go gang:

Planing on more steady progress in "FANTASIAN: Neo Dimension", the whole thing feels like a cosy “best of” Final Fantasy VII, VIII and XIX. However, some poor financial choices and ebay searches later I picked up some GameCube / Wii Sonic essentials. Expect some "Sonic Adventure DX Director’s Cut", "Shadow the Hedgehog" (I have a feeling this is not as bad as they told us back in the day) and both "Sonic Riders" and "Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity". Hey, if these two run on the "F-Zero GX" engine, there gotta be something worth playing in them, right?

Game of the week is "Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars". About time these two PS1 gems get wide availability for current gen, these really are quite special to me. While everyone was ignoring 2D games on release, I actually picked and completed the first game. It was like a Super Nintendo JRPG with no ROM memory constrains, which was my idea of perfection. Now if only we could get a "Vandal Hearts" collection next...

@OorWullie I like it very much. I combines a few old games mechanics into a thing very much of it's own (even a bit of Sonic!). Unsure if you played the previous games from Pixel Games "Donut Dodo" but "Cash Cow DX" feels like an evolution of that platformer. Also quite hard to master, but genuinely rewarding when you do succeed. It gets the most important aspect of an arcade game: an enjoyable game loop.

@Gorlock @Gs69 I can help you with that. The game offers two types of control options: Normal and Expert. Normal will lock your plane on a Axis and it is meant for new comers to play while ensuring it will be hard to crash your plane. Expert mode is my default go to and let you actually rotate your plane on its axis, giving you full freedom of movement. every button on the controller is used but this is not a flight simulator, its an arcade style shooter so ou can really push as much as you want and just have a lot of fun at it. There are also several difficulty levels from casual to (unlockable) Ace. some people also have issues with the inverted up/down|dive/rise movement so you can reverse those two (but in real life when you push the yokel forward, the plane will dive and vice versa). As such I can assure you if you plunge into this, controls will not be an issue.

@BloodWolfe I've notice some people complaining about this. I have three regional accounts because I need to have access to EU, US and JPN eshops. You only need to have a different email for each and you can buy funds for any of them at Play Asia. A small annoyance indeed, but not that hard to circumvent.

@SirWalrus the reviewer is not wrong! The reviewer has 100 hours of AC7 on STEAM so the reviewer did not have to look very far to spot some concessions made to make the game run, namely a few slowdowns when explosions go crazy or target rich environments during the score target missions. Yet it runs incredible when side to side with other versions. Also, the reviewer is me.
