@romanista while shipping is quite reasonable, taxes ain't. So I try not to order single games from Asia and Japan, I try to bundle a few at a time to be more cost effective.
@Herna That Wii U kept me going for several great years, namely because it was my first HD home console system. Lack of games just made me appreciate the ones I had, it was my gateway into 2assasin's Credd", and "Mass Effect" to mention a few, along with some super proper "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" action and of course the best version of "Tekken Tag Tournament" and "Need For Speed: Most Wanted" along with some exclusives to this day like "Tank!Tank! Tank!" and of course "Xenoblade Chronicles X". No need to mention all the Nintendo first party stuff because they are so good they still sell like hotcakes nowadays as enhanced Switch ports. Failed system yes, but failed to deliver at home? Never.
Funny because I was streming this live on Friday and mentioned my audience exactly:"Lunistice" is a better game than "Sonic Frontiers" because it has precise and responsive controls and no odd camera behaviour.
@funkyplasma not gonna lie, that one came out of nowhere and its utterly brilliant. I want to try it online but I just have very little time right now between current and retro games I'm currently tackling. Wish publishers would not release so much stuff during this period, but here we are evert year and I'm many other indie gems like "From Space" will slip unnoticed by most folks.
My quick review of the Switch version based an hour of play:
YAY!
graphics
minimalist music
open world exploration
cool 3D stages design
open world boss fights
NAY...
clunky platforming controls
pop-in
camera during boss fights
FINAL SCORE:
8 out of 10
I had to do this because everyone on my discord community was unsure if this was a worthwhile endeavour since well... 3D Sonics have a potty reputation. I also warned everyone that the Switch would surely suffer from performance issues when faced up to the other versions and adjust score to hardware. Will I score the game lower after I'm done with it? Possibly. While I had a lot of fun with the initial moments of the game, this is 2022 and I can't accept SEGA still can't handle 3D camera controls and proper 3D platforming? This game like rather large part of other AAA titles simply need more time in the oven, its like the industry leaned nothing from "Cyberpunk 2077" and for this I blame shareholders and publisher administrators who understand very little on how long it takes to make a proper good game.
For reference, this is what I played before writing the review.
Please note: In absolute NO WAY should my review score be deemed more valid than Ollies since he played the whole thing to completion.
@Smug43 here you go:
Unreal Engine, stable 30fps, some hiccups during cutscenes/replays, sometimes the "classic" muddy textures we are used to from UE ports on the Switch. Solid stuff.
@OorWullie Good one innit? I was focused on Super Famicom titles back then rather than Mega Drive ones, but I surely love this. Maybe one day someone will translate the Saturn entry...
My favourite racer for quite some time. Another impossible conversion on Switch and I will gladly take the performance hit to be able to have this on my Switch library.
Amazingly this was the first I discovered in the game, since I was playing and recording a "First Play " video, I went straight to the credits. Once I got the hang of it, I got it up to 63 and grabbed the tittle "Staffer". I wonder if there is anything above 100...
@russell-marlow It is one of the tags, you just use '[' followed by 'youtube:videocode' and ']'. videocode is the code after 'watch?v='. Don't abuse it tough, mods get mad.
@dartmonkey My favourite entry but I am biased because I was a huge Starblade fan before Star Fox even came to be and the opening level of Assault combines the best of both worlds in an epic mission.
I discovered the original in the arcade and played a few times with Keiji. It was however a few months later I discovered the Super Famicom release and that one I played to completion. A compilation of the entire series would be rather cool.

No way this one would ever need to escalate this hard, but there I was pushing the analogue sticks of my PS2 like my life depended on it.
