I’m probably the first person to watch it! 35sec.
Watching now
So THAT'S what they meant by the Leaked August Direct.
Don't worry guys, there's still a big Direct coming on Friday!
And don't forget about the Mario Collection, F-Zero Grand Prix and Pokemon Stars.
Didn't see that coming.
Ugh. Kill me now. I'll watch it but I'm already disappointed. This better not be THE August Direct.
Plenty rhythm games, KH’s one still looks trash tbh but the SaGa collection is neat.
Much better than the previous one, but the only thing that interested me here was Puyo Puyo Tetris 2.
Edit: Clarification, better than the previous Partner Showcase, not the Indie World showcase earlier this week.
@Octane Good to know! This was disappointing.
There was a Boxing game from the Mini Direct. 😲
But it has NO Health Bar and Super Moves meter. 😫
How do i tell my boxer condition without Health bar ?? 😫
It was like Hajime no Ippo PS2 / Wii again.
It was so frustrating for me to wait at least 1 decent Boxing game like K-1 on PS2. 😓
@Octane No they're not - stop getting people's hopes up.
You know those games aren't coming until the 4K Switch Pro launches next February.
Well the leaker said the direct will be on August 28th and the Partner Showcase was on the 26th so there's still hope of a general direct in 2 days time. This partner showcase was a bit better than the last one though.
I hope it's better than the first one, though it will depend on my tastes. I only want to know about Bravely Default 2. Edit: I guess I have more time to buy AAA third party games that were announced a few years ago on Switch.
Hyped for puyo puyo and... That's about it.
Holy Moley! I thought there has GOT to be some kind of news from Nintendo this week. I'll tune right in!
Edit: Well, that was underwhelming. I'm glad it wasn't all rhythm games as I feared at the beginning, but nothing caught my attention. More time to work on the 'ol backlog!
@Octane we hope this August 28th direct leak didn't mean the partner showcase.
3 games in, 3rd rhythm game..
3rd parties are making switch home of the shovel ware again aren’t they?
Nice surprise but another clunker for me. Quite a down year for the switch for me personally. Hope we get an idea of the beginning of 2021 here soon!
I feel like the courier from Skyrim, right now. "Nope. Sorry. Nothing."
Glad it was dropped unannounced.
If you watch the last 30 seconds you get a quick overview of what was in it. FFCC was a nice close. Game has had a lot of bumps lately, practically bottoming out, but it's still an FF game that's getting a simultaneous release with other systems.
This really would have not been a bad NDMPS IF, and that's a big IF, we had gotten a real Nintendo Direct sometime in the past 8 months. These are the sprinkles swept off of the tablecloth, nobody wants the spilled sprinkles until after we get to eat the ice cream sundae first, and we are all starving to death for 1st party holiday game news.
Possibly the worst one so far, sadly. I don't mind the smaller Directs in general so I'm not too annoyed or anything but I'd really like to see Nintendo make some big announcements soon - it's well overdue.
Wow, that was even worse than the previous Direct Mini and Indie World. My Switch is still collecting dust
A Rocky game.
Erm yes please.
Clubber Lang and Drago!
Apollo Creed all with likenesses....
Yes
Yay! A gameboy game playing in an emulator.. can wait for that
Nintendo do not have anything to announce. I have no hope that 2021 will be any better.
I might be interested in the Collection of SaGa. I don't care about the other games though.
4th rhythm game..
This was "ok". The proper Direct is next month.
The Taiko games look fun but not too much else to get excited about there. It's funny how the indie presentation are really interesting looking games from start till end but then the major third party ones are bland and boring besides from one or two games.
@Slowdive did you change your avatar so people would forget how boldly you predicted a real direct based on nate the hates bold prediction? Good one
Not bad but it's not quite what I am looking for. Come on Nintendo hit us with some 1st party games
@Octane glad to know!
This wasn’t very good haha
It did absolutely nothing for me and that’s okay. I’m more than occupied at the moment.
this was legit crap at least the first Partner Showcase had Shin Megami Tensei this had nothing
Why is all these shovelware companies paying Nintendo for Directs?
A little less disappointing than the last one. At least they had way more announcements.
What's wrong with rhythm games? They're awesome! Keep them coming. Oh, by the way. Avicii Invector is coming too and it looks great.
A Creed/Rocky game?! Whoa.
Also, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2?! Whoa again.
The rest...eh, not for me. Nice presentation though.
Preferred the last Direct, this one was a bit disappointing. I only have an interest in the new Taiko No Tatsujin but it seems like a game you would buy on sale...
And I only recognise one song from the new Just Dance - are these popular songs?
@acNewUpdates Actually the leak said August 20, so I believe it was talking about the Indie World, as it never specifically said Direct.
Yes, so much better than the first! That was wonderful imo.
Nintendo are just trolling the leakers now.
Decent wee showcase too.
Who knows, something may still happen Friday, Nintendo does what it wants!
@Kimyonaakuma Yes, I don’t recognize one but the others have all been released in the past year or so and are popular.
Lol, classic Nintendo.
Insert Last Surprise from Persona LUL
Let the disappointment of the fanboys begin! Nintendo didn't show us metroid 4 gameplay 0/10 game company i'm selling my switch to buy a playstation.
Oh boy...what direction is the Switch heading?
That was rather bland. Captain Tsubasa seemed fun, though.
The boxing game was a bit of a surprise. Haven't seen too many arcade style boxing games in a while. It was slightly better than the first Partner Showcase, but you can see they're serious about putting these out. Captain Tsubasa looks to be more fun than FIFA.
Nothing much of interest for me. Always good to see more games though.
Words fail me. That was just the worst!
2020 needs to end!
i'm not negative at all.. but they did it.. they did a direct worse than the first partners showcase... I like music/rhythm games but what a terrible direct... I truly hope we have a real one on Friday...
This sucked real bad.
Worst direct ever.
Nothing that we didn’t know about and nothing revealed.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Nintendo is really keeping stuff close to their chest.... I hope.
How can you be getting so close to holiday season without any announcements?!?! It’s odd!
Strong "meh" for this direct but I think they knew that. It's cool. Between Pikmin 3 coming out and COVID possibly delaying things, Nintendo can take a break this year.
That was something I guess. It's better than nothing I suppose.
I'm interested in a few of the games showed in this. That being said: it was pretty bad.
@BenAV I translated your post in my head as:
"With partners like these, who needs enemies?"
A partner showcase should be focused on Bayonetta 3 and other AAA or there about titles, not these "passing as indie" games. While other consoles are showing off Cyberpunk and Avengers Nintendo should at least have 1 or 2 AAA 3rd party titles to focus on. If this is the best they can do for a PARTNER SHOWCASE in the Switch's 4th year and 60 million Switch sold, well it may need to rethink it's use of the word "partner". Can't use the Wii U excuse of - well it only sold 13 million so we aren't making games for it. It's selling more than Xbox 1, all versions combined - X1, X1S, X1X.
And that's why this is somewhat lackluster as a partner showcase.
I'm done. I'm genuinely believing that Nintendo are done with the Switch and working on the successor.
I wouldn’t even be upset if we were getting GOOD third party games in these and not super basic casual titles.
Nobody predicted this.
That was horrid
Yawn. What a cruddy Mini Direct.
@ReikoMortis,
No the sales of the Switch have been awesome.
@RupeeClock hell no. Last one gave us spiritfarer. This one gave us korok seeds
Well that was *****.
Well, this was underwhelming.
I can't say that I'm disappointed right now, but if they don't have a real direct soon I might be.
The only one I'm interested in is the SaGa collection.
If this is the Direct that was leaked...that would be pretty funny. To me at least, I'm not desperate for Nintendo to announce anything. There are plenty of games to play. I am curious what they are planning though, they have been so quiet.
Yeah, that's what we want: More...more...more bs!!
Switch is Nintendo's worst console, Miyamoto and that Pokemon guy are a-holes!

Mon 20th Jul 2020
If you notice the branding on the last 2 presentations, it may be a monthly occurrence. Nintendo Treehouse Live July 2020 and Nintendo Direct Mini July 2020. Maybe they'll tie the first party games into a Treehouse Live segment? Either way, we know there are more in the future and stating July 2020 for each makes it seem like a monthly or every other month schedule instead of something quarterly like Summer 2020.
Yup. More constant communication. I think a general direct will happen, but they were talking about finding alternate ways to get their information out. This is one of those ways.
To think I was just complaining yesterday about Square Enix not showing love to their back catalogue not named Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts. Granted... I would have preferred a Collection of Chrono with Trigger, Dreamers and Cross... But, SaGa's cool! Though eh Enix branch of Square Enix you think we could get the Gaia Trilogy or some Dragon Quest action here in the west?
Though I swear Nomura you had to Nomura this with "New Scenes" in the KH3 engine to sell us on a game we did not want so we will understand what happens in Kingdom Hearts 4... why do I keep punishing myself with this franchise?
this better not be that leaked august direct
Not very interesting showcase for me. I only liked the look of the tank game which I will download later. Seems like the Indie devs are doing a better job lately.
my dissapointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
Are we still getting a Direct on Friday right? Right? =(
@NikHogan If this ruined your day you must be living a pretty good life. But, to each there own this was just kinda okay. But, I'm sure Nintendo has something cooking for a Fall Direct just relax and enjoy some of that delish Switch back catalogue.
BTW this doesn't mean we're not still getting a property Direct on Friday. It's only Wednesday and previous Directs were only announced one day before. Maybe they wanted to get the indies and Partners out of the way first.
A nice surprise for my birthday. Way better than the last partner showcase in terms of content
@Octane lol dont count on it
And Final Fantasy : Mystic Quest [edit: on SNES] keeps being forgotten. Not that it's a great game, but if you resurrect GameBoy games you might as well re-release this one too.
Liked this one better than the last partner showcase... looking forward to puyo tetris 2 but was hoping it would of added columns to the puyo and tetris sequel!
Looks like these really are becoming a monthly thing, at least for the time being. A neat lineup here, too: KHMoM is all but confirmed to walk in Theatrythm's footsteps, Puyo Puyo Tetris gets a sequel and we've got two JRPG collections coming our way, including another one that's music-based like Theatrythm yet includes even more traditional JRPG staples. The OG SaGa trilogy (you won't catch me calling it "Final Fantasy Legend" with a straight face) is a definitely welcome surprise in itself - despite the third entry being the odd one out as the only JRPG I've ever disliked (but still eventually beat, in all fairness), it's an exciting slice of another classic franchise's history to score on Switch in this day and age overall. The first two games are among the pioneers of stat grinding in the genre.
And yes, I consider giving WoT Blitz a shot (no pun intended) later. While real time online PvP remains a relatively low priority in my libraries (lobbies, matchmaking and overall dependence on the circumstances of multiple people far away feel somewhat opposed to the whole momentary "pick up, put down" freedom that portable gaming hardware is famous for), we're talking more tank goodness on Switch here. Although I would still like to hope the game's got room for solo PvE along the lines of Warframe.
I expected a Crash Bandicoot 4 announcement.
I'm still hoping it will happen eventually.
@invictus4000 Considering how close to the end of the month it is. It probably is.
@Octane how do you know that?
Ever love watching those bad movies that are so bad that they're good, in a funny way. That's what these showcases feel like. Or at least the 2nd half of this year. Just a funny bad movie.
Nothing for me once again. Maybe Jump Force but nothing else really looked appealing to me.
@Octane What F-Zero Grand Prix?
Glad to have a November release date for Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. That Final Fantasy Gameboy collection looks pretty neat, might bite if the price is good
@Octane Judging from the comment section, it seems your sarcasm was lost on most. ^^'
Loving this...I think I’ll pop my head into Twitter to admire the bloodbath.
meh nothing for me in this one again.
Horrible, Just horrible
I came in with zero expectations and I was still disappointed.
OFF TOPIC: Can i just repeat for the 1000th time that it is ridiculous to reply to a message that's 50 comments above and then read the reply of the reply 140 messages below?
@RyanCraddock, please, do something.
Wow that sucked. I’m a pretty positive dude, but that was... that showed me that I’m gonna have an extended period of time to catch up on backlog.
Yay for the Rocky game maybe?
Real direct is next month, guys. It's still summer.
Not as bad as the last one, but that's not saying much. Nintendo was smart not to announce this beforehand, but they can't keep doing these without a main Direct along with it.
@acNewUpdates nope, the leaker outright delared that is was a proper Direct, not a Mini or Partner Showcase. But, of course he's already deleted those claims, now just revelling in being "right"
Who was that guy who back tracked and said don’t your hopes up... No sh*t.
Do we really need another Puyo Puyo game?
Just another kick in the goenadds on the same day as Sega announcing Ages not being continued
Very thankful to have removed myself from the constant Direct "leaks" and "rumors." Now I can just sit back and laugh when something like this happens, rather than be all let down.
@Slowdive if only Nate the Hate ignored all the people who called him out on his BS he'd have zero followers and we wouldn't need to go down this rabbit hole again.
It was OK.
goes back to playing Undertale on Switch
@teo_o that's why I have both
Nothing for me but I had SMT last time so can't complain.
Everyone and their leaks information. lol People get very passionate don't they. I didn't know of a direct but... I'm like... "it happened and 95% of those games are not for me. I think I'll get back to my daily life (whistling)."
Yeah, I’m not liking this format of a messy blur of trailers for relatively mediocre 3d party games at all.
Last one had a triple A game at least. Shin Megami Tensei <3. This one... puyo puyo tetris and just dance...?
Shows that Indies know a lot more what the Switch is about in comparison to some high budget Nintendo partners.
Now I’m going back to play A short hike.
@WreckitRyan That' the best way to enjoy it all. Either a short video with nothing of interest, or a pleasant surprise or two. And a toxic pit of comments to waste everyone's time. Their war-ready hype train is going so fast they have already decided to be disappointed before there even is a Direct.
After watching Colin Furze's "screw tank" project on youtube and seeing World of Tanks being promoted many times, I think I'll try it. It is free to play, isn't it?
Why does Nintendo keep doing this to us? These directs are literally a waste of time and a constant reminder that we have nothing forward to look to.
@Octane Knowing Nintendo the Mario 35th Anniversary celebration will be new profile photos for your Switch profile.
@Medic_Alert coming soon: Yakuza Picross
@SpacedDuck it’s Mario Glue
I guess someone somewhere will buy these games, just more of the same to add to the already mountainous pile. Maybe with the exception of FFCC.
Just watched it. I actually really liked it. I'm into rhythm games though. Interested in KH and Taiko although the price tag is going to be a problem. I'm also up for more Puyo Puyo Tetris but it doesn't seem like there have been many changes. And I was just wondering why there has not been any talk about the next Just Dance. I know no one here cares about the series but my sister is really into them.
@KnightsTemplar
I was specifically referring to the previous Partner Showcase, not the Indie World showcase.
The previous Partner Showcase had very little going on.
Nintendo never disappoints. Never change
Zero interest in any of those generic games. These games would normally be in the short clip piece at the end of a normal direct.
The only thing that made me almost scream was the fact that Gurenge will be in Taiko no Tatsujin. LIKE WHAT
I might be up for the Taiko RPGs :3
Did this really necessitate a direct? Oof
Good news for people who enjoy musical games. Beyond that...
Maybe I'll check out the Taiko no Tatsujin game. I'm just not sure I've ever thought, "You know, this should be an RPG!" while playing them.
I’m beyond stoked for the Saga Collection, which will nicely compliment the Mana Collection. For those who have never played FFL1-3, they’re really fun games!
Other than that? Ugh! I find it ridiculous that Square Enix would release a Kingdom Hearts rhythm game instead of giving Nintendo owners the thing they’ve been asking for for nearly two decades: Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.
@invictus4000 I don't get people. When rumors fly about everybody (rightly) points out that that's all they are, but they get their hopes up regardless, and then when they're not met for some reason they blame Nintendo and not the rumor mongers for spreading false information, nor themselves for falling for it. You write "THE August Direct" as though Nintendo has promised such a thing; but they haven't. They've never said or done one thing to suggest some full, proper (whatever that even means) Direct is coming. Judge this Mini for what it is; if you aren't interested in the games, so be it. But if you're disappointed because there wasn't a Breath of the Wild 2 trailer or anything else that has never been promised, that's all you.
Well that's 11mins of my life wasted i ain't getting back
I’m glad that I have another hobby in board gaming, because this was very disappointing to me. Man Nintendo, get your shot together.
Furukawa and Bowser (ex EA) are making Nintendo go dumb again this was the year that Next gen would still need some time to settle but Nintendo Gave them what they wanted.
Nintendo are making it really hard to Nintendo at the moment. Don't worry Nintendo, I still love Nintendo, but damn... Nintendo... sigh
This is cruel Nintendo, I don’t wanna disrespect the games shown here, but this is cruel
@JimmySpades it’s fair for people to expect that Nintendo will announce some decent games. Both first and third party. If you see what all other gaming platforms are getting, this is getting kinda ridiculous.
@Mambitos Furakawa is the wrong guy to drive this machine no doubt
Oh my, so that was the rumoured Nintendo Direct.... Words fail me...
@ReikoMortis and Bowser (ex EA) too, two of the worst execs right now in gaming.
Nothing there for me, hopefully others saw something exciting 👍
Chalk one up for the dude that called it and said to keep expectations in check.
Holy ****, Nintendo, it's been a month and a half since when E3 and that Direct would have happened.
@Cosats I believe our site overlord Ant is working on a comments overhaul to fix this very issue. We'll hopefully have a new system later this year. 🙂
Haha, nothing for me again; will not watch the next Partner Showcase. Will rather go through Nintendo Life.
It wasn't that bad. Nothing I was interested in, other than Just Dance 2021. But that's usually a given that a new one is coming and its a tradition in our household every holiday season.
It was also stated that this was possibly not going to be a general Direct and that one would probably come later.
10 minutes of life I'll never get back..
Is just getting a regular Kingdom Hearts game too much to ask? There's already an HD collection available on other platforms, and having pre-rendered gameplay segments and cutscenes in the background of the rhythm game just feels like a slap in the face. I wouldn't have a problem with a spin-off at all if the Switch actually had just a regular Kingdom Hearts game.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is something I want to be excited for, but I just can't. I don't really see how they're gonna push the envelope beyond the first one very much. This probably could have just been a DLC expansion. We already have Tetris 99 for free, are people really gonna want to buy another Tetris game? Ironically, with its single-player focus and zen-like theme, I would 100% buy the Tetris Effect, which even Xbox is now getting. But this one just feels like more of the same.
Man Nintendo always knows exactly what we want 🤦♂️
@ryancraddock Thank you, thank you, thank you and again thank you
Great. Now the Youtubers and Leakers will have their next huge prediction next week to get people hyped then disappointed. What's the definition of insanity again?
so nothing new? was that shovelware?
@Cosats it's strange they didn't show it.
Also there is a GI Joe for release in October I think that should have been presented as well.
This company behavior is unacceptable. This direct suppose to mean something? Should've put it together with the indie direct because i can't see anything good than shovelwares.. Nintendo has failed.
@WiltonRoots - I was hoping for a 3DS lifetime achievement Direct where nothing is announced and they just review all the 3DS games that were fun, but this’ll do.
The Direct was about as bad as it could possibly get. It almost feels like they're trolling us at this point.
I've been watching Direct's since the beginning and that was in my opinion the worst one they've ever put out.
@OorWullie I actually wondered if the timing of this mini direct isn't Nintendo's punishment for the Leakers and to make them look less credible... Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't switch things up and push the main direct back to make the Insiders look less credible.
skipped through it. Dogger once again
Oh man i Will jeep hoping for a Direct on friday I gess.. p.s: final fantasy Legend collection is cool
I knew it was bullcrap days ago, I knew we wouldn't get a mario collection because that's stupid and dosent make sense, why would they remaster 3 whole games wasting money and time, all these youtubers and news outlets are lying for clicks and views, THEY KNOW NOTHING, they said it was going to be a general direct which I NEVER believed for a second, and I was right too, because it was a fat lie and a big waste of time !
Ooof. I hope they at least had enough self-awareness and conscience to ask themselves "should we really upload this?" Maybe there's enough sales figures behind these franchises that makes this abomination make sense as a data driven decision, but that was profoundly disappointing to me personally. Not a single title I was remotely interested in and somehow the whole was still less than the sum of it's horribly uninteresting parts.
@OorWullie The last one gives this a fierce competition, but I agree and hope that these are attempts at trolling us. Even mobile games look better than most of these. And at this rate, I won't be surprised if the next Partner Showcase comes with Fallout 76 Definitive Edition shadow-dropping for $70 (with virtual nylon bags as bonus content).
I’m so done with Nintendo for the rest of the year... so p$$$ed off 😡 forget what the fans want, let’s drop another partner showcase nobody gives a damn about 🙄
Pretty boring.
Last month's Partner Showcase had less content but at least it ended with SMTV + SMT3 HD.
The like to dislike ratio on YouTube, makes me wonder if Nintendo pays attention to that sort of thing.
That's all your getting for 2020 guys and girls!!
@Gamehendge There certainly is a Market for this. Just Dance by itself is huge demonstrated by the fact that it has kept the Wii alive. Yes, Just Dance 2021 is coming to the Wii. That said its annual release is hardly a surprise. But for Nintendo to allow only the music segment of the market to be shown love is baffling. It would be nice to see at least some B-tier first party games at this point.
I'm going to keep my hopes down for a direct on Friday so that if there isn't one I won't be mad, and if there is one I will be pleasantly surprised!
Look up “meh” in the dictionary and there’s a link to this direct
@dew12333 Nope, we are getting 4 more Partner Showcases this year. Fun!
This comment session is a fun read. People are desperate.
Oh boy! This comment section is a bit much, lol. Some folks need to take a step off the ledge and remember we still have four months left this year
@bimmy-lee I haven’t watched it yet - I’m out and about at the mo - but I get a feeling a few folks’ Dear Santa wishlists got cast to the wind. Someone posted a clip on YouTube of old Kevin & Perry sketches by Harry Enfield on my feed. For some reason this site was the first place I thought of.
@dew12333 - Somewhat likely, though to be fair, we might still end up getting a couple of games announced in October/November, a month or so prior to release (given release schedules are less secure now, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo are playing things similarly to how they announced Paper Mario and only giving relatively short notice for future releases).
Guess I shouldn't be surprised with the comments (although I'm not sure why people are still acting this way when it's been clear for a while that Nintendo are not going to be doing a big 1st party direct in the near future at the very least), but personally, I didn't mind this Direct Mini; it had a lot more announcements than the last one, and some (Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, Final Fantasy Legends collection, Kingdom Hearts Theatrhythm) seemed kinda interesting.
So does Nintendo only make consoles now? It seems like the more we go into 2020, the less we see of any actual new games coming from Nintendo.
shrug
That Partner Showcase was no more or no less than I was expecting. I feel bad for folks who thought there'd be more.
i refuse to belive Pikimin 3 Deluxe is the Holiday title of Switch for 2020, after 3 years of amazing games Nintendo really disapoited this year, where is the general Nintendo Direct that Jeff Grubb sugested Nintendo will do in august 28th?Nintendo can't relie on Pikimin 3 Deluxe as the holiday title of Switch for this year, unless Nintendo do the general Nintendo Direct after the brefing sessions they have in septembre 16.
@TheFullAndy If Nintendo is that petty a company that it would disappoint fans just to get back at the leakers, despite us waiting for months for information on upcoming titles, then they don't deserve to be in the gaming business. We expect better from them.
Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... And my arm... even my fingers... The Directs I've lost... the first party gamesI've lost... they won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you?
I think people forget that these Directs aren't just for the die hard fans who are sitting around speculating about what Nintendo have coming this year, or those expecting the big Direct this week. There's a big audience of casual players for some of these games and these Partner Showcases aren't going anywhere by the looks of it, so that's that. Their existence doesn't take away from the potential for first party games, in fact it reinforces it. I doubt they would separate out third party games if first party ones didn't exist.
So whilst I get it, it's disappointing seeing this when all we want is that full-fat Nintendo Direct... we're still going to get it. This one just wasn't for us.
Ok But Taiko No Tatsujin actually looks fire
@frabbit That said, it was garbage wasn't it.
@FullMetalWesker I can tell you about my reaction, I guess others too are reacting this way because of the same reasons. I know this is not Nintendo's presentation (and I am not expecting Nintendo to release 12 AAA titles in this wretched year) but these showcases are extra-meh. The Indie World was immensely better if you compare to these AAA-wannabe titles.
@redd214 I’m not complaining with games like bioshock, borderlands, sinking city, outer worlds, to name a few games I either missed last gen or only played 1 of the series. I’ve purchased too many games for my switch, nearing 100. While my ps4 usually only gets a free game every month or 2 since I don’t play anything on that, just warzone by 1 kid when we all not using our switches. But we all still play smash, rocket league, Minecraft animal crossing, as our daily family gaming too. I don’t know why people even have other consoles and complain about a switch library. Pc for like 3 games as well.
@SeantheDon29
I don't expect better from them in fact I would find it amusing if they did do this deliberately.
Can’t say I’m not a little disappointed since there was nothing new to get me excited. But still have quite a backlog so it’s kind of a good thing.
Some good games, but like everyone else here....we need a properly Nintendo Direct!
@TheFox
Yeah, I know that JustDance ships some units annually like clockwork, and I figure Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Puyo-Puyo have a dedicated and loyal fanbase that will support any offerings (be it spinoff, remaster, or new mainline release) from those franchises. I will never fault any business for making money and I try to use that rationale to temper my personal disdain for what I just watched.
In my opinion, to be a mini direct, it wasent so bad. Maybe lacked a bigger WoW game, but overall a Ok direct with some small treats 😊
@Donutman I wasn't complaining either, glad you have a bunch to play
It seems like many above are disappointed in this mini Direct, but not me! More big online games are always welcome, and I look forward to trying World of Tanks today, especially as it looks like its crossplay. Rhythm games I love, so this was a fun Direct for me. Puyopuyo x Tetris 2 was a surprise announcement. I think there was maybe a bit too much time spent on Just Dance, since everyone KNOWS the game by now inside and out. An arcade boxing style game based on Rocky was a surprise as well. It might be fun. Didn't get that "one more thing" at the end though, which was a bit disappointing. Oh...and why have we still not seen any kind of real, actual gameplay of what exactly you DO in Fuser?
I'm interested in the game, but for the life of me I still don't know what you actually DO in the game! The biggest announcement for me, personally, was the SaGa Final Fantasy collection. These were some of my absolute favorite games from the DS...I've been wanting a collection like this for a long long time!
@Mambitos How the flying f—- are they the ‘worst devs in gaming’? You hear about those other devs who had to fire top executives due to toxic workplaces and sexual harassment?
People need to give Nintendo a goddamn break on this: the virus f— up the entire world and everything that goes with it; that includes the videogame industry. Look what it did to Microsoft too. And Sony really doesn’t have anything compelling for launch.
Your statement is borderline insane, and you really should cut the ***** hyperbole.
@TheFullAndy Perhaps they should leave the hardware manufacturing business and just become a second party developer and leave the hardware to Sony and Microsoft, since COVID clearly hasn't slowed either of them down like it has Nintendo.
This gives me the sass.. but I’ll still probably buy a few games like Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and The Saga Collection
That was kind of lame.
I loved the indie showcase earlier, though. Lots of gems that weren't on my radar, though ironically I'll probably be getting them for PC rather than Switch. Still, I wouldn't have heard of them if I hadn't watched the indie showcase, so...
@SeantheDon29
Yes that is a perfectly reasonable take away from all this.....
Nintendo are doomed aren't they?! As reflected in weekly charts and record breaking sales of the Switch. Catch yourself on.
Considering Sony and Microsoft have still not confirmed launch line ups, release dates, price and Microsoft had to delay their one big flagship title I think you are being a bit delusional in saying they have not been affected by Covid 19.
I'm not sure what a "Partner showcase" is; these are clearly not the only third party games coming. All seemed very niche; anyone care to explain what the category of "Partner" means?
@Wexter problem for me is the fact that they continue to do ONLY this and announce nothing big! i mean we dont need a bunch of huge new games, but at least one or two? leaving us in the dark this long and dancing around it irritates me :/
@dewokkel And that's another bullshi[redacted] attitude I've had just about enough of. If you care at all about the video game industry, as opposed to being a needy consumer demanding product without any thought, regard, or consideration for the people producing it, you understand how huge a problem crunch is; how problematic it is when the head of Rockstar brags that developers were putting in hundred hour weeks leading up to the release of Red Dead 2, or the conditions which led to similar stories about Naughty Dog prior to The Last of Us 2. Not a day goes by without new tales of exploitation in the industry. They're told of every major publisher, of every major developer, except for one--Nintendo. And considering how much their self-professed fans love to criticize them, you can be certain that if neither they, nor their critics, nor independent observers are telling those tales, then there aren't tales to be told. You can be certain that Nintendo actually lives by the creed represented in Miyamoto's famous quote in the way it treats its employees.
That is under normal circumstances. In case you haven't noticed, circumstances aren't normal. Marcellus Wallace could tell you how abnormal they are. Under current circumstances, work takes more time and effort than it used to. A company that gives its employees sufficient time will have to give more than it used to, or demand more effort. It is clear which Nintendo has chosen. It is also clear which companies whose products are still on schedule have chosen.
Your complaint translates to "Other companies are abusing their employees; it's ridiculous that Nintendo isn't too." You have utterly misidentified what in this scenario is ridiculous.
Is that boxing game motion controlled because that would be kinda fun.
Just watched it (well skipping a lot of it) and that just flat out dreadful.
Wel... That was crap
@JimmySpades “Your complaint translates to "Other companies are abusing their employees; it's ridiculous that Nintendo isn't too." You have utterly misidentified what in this scenario is ridiculous.“
Your words. Not in the slightest mine.
Worst, direct...EVER!!
Poor variety and poor games.
@NikHogan It's fine. We already know a number of titles that will probably be out by the end of 2021. Such as Bayonetta 3, Breath of the Wild 2, Shin Megami Tensei 4 and hopefully by 2022 we get Metroid Prime 4. Normally we would have gotten a major Pokemon release (3rd game, sequel etc) to what we got last year instead we have Crown Tundra to look forward to. That and Pokemon Snap looks to be a Winter 2020 game to fit in that Pokemon niche. That and also, No More Heroes 3 which appears to still be on track for 2020 with Pikmin 3 Deluxe (for those who missed it) to look forward to.
Nintendo has games for the Fall already slated just without firm release dates. That and with COVID we should expect delays to what they have cooking and they probably don't want to announce a firm release date only to delay the games. If we don't hear anything by mid-September I'll be in the camp of worried for their Winter line-up, but Nintendo will be fine for 2021 and beyond. Let's agree 2020 has been a very weird year that people are looking forward to just being over...
EDIT: I forgot about Doom Eternal. Which I'm okay waiting for as portable Doom 2016 was AWESOME! So, as long as it's a good port (this is Id we're talking about), then I'm okay with getting that this winter.
@SeantheDon29
Why though?? This would only give Sony a monopoly in Japan, less competition overall, leave the industry with two consoles that do exactly the same, and give less options to consumers.
@Gamehendge I hear you. The only thing I'm even a little interested in from this list was Taiko no Tatsujin. The rest, I have zero interest in. But in addition to recognizing that some people do like this stuff, I think it's fair to say Nintendo could still save late 2020. No More Heroes III is still listed for a 2020 release, Bayonetta 3 has to come out SOMETIME and who knows, maybe they'll pull another Paper Mario and drop something out of nowhere. It's still a little early to expect the holiday lineup to be revealed, so I'm still hoping for a strong end to the year.
So this is the rumored Nintendo Direct? Figures.
@Octane as much as I want it to there will be no f zero. This may make you sad but just don't get false hope from anything f zero it will always disappoint. Other stuff might happen though
@Octane wait what the hell is pokemon stars lol
Surprised by all the negativity.
I am happy that finally OG GameBoy games are coming.
I don't know who is running Nintendo's marketing department, but I'm pretty sure they previously worked on Stadia, Ouya, and Edsel.
Another disappointing direct. I can see why others might be excited, but looks like I’m waiting longer for games that will excite me. It’s okay, all the great pc games come out soon
Nothing I'm personally too into other than maybe Collection of SaGa. Never played the series, but I've seen it recommended online.
@Crockin Your avatar is PERFECT for your post 😂
And it’s utter tosh!
This video on Nintendo's Youtube channel has 26K dislikes at the time of this comment being posted! That should tell you everything you need to know about this Direct.
I personally thought this was terrible. The first 3 games were rhythm games! Come on! Why would we want a Kingdom Hearts rhythm game when there's not a full Kingdom Hearts game on the Switch???
@TheFullAndy The difference is that both Sony and Microsoft have announced a lot of first party games for this and next year. Nintendo in the meantime hasn’t given us any information on this and next years first party titles.
Imagine being a share holder in this situation, imagine Nintendo not giving you any information on any upcoming titles this year. Do you really think those shareholders won’t jump ship soon with the lack of information Nintendo has shared so far?
Nintendo could aswell just post a pic of BotW 2 instead of this direct and everyone would be hyped as hell.
@SeantheDon29
Microsoft and Sony are launching new gen consoles of course they have to announce next gen games as well, many of which may not be out for years.
Why would I imagine I am a shareholder?! I am just a guy who enjoys playing videogames.
As I said before, catch yourself on.
Maybe a Nintendo dedicated tree house session dedicated to a big q4 release with some Nintendo announcements at the end?
SaGa Collection might be neat.
@rjejr Bayonetta 3 never would appear on this as it's a second party developed title.
@ReikoMortis Imagine thinking that a president controls the company like that. That's not from him but on marketing, general managers, managers and many other functions. It's insane to put something like games into a CEO lmao It's not on their business. They can only do as much as the employees are doing.
Nintendo fanboys “we got AAA titles see!” 🤣
So this is the supposed Nintendo Direct that Twitter account was predicting right? Well good job. At least I know who to trust now. I am going to carry on with playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions Jump Force and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on my GBA! And I got more games to look out for.
@Nemesis666 "a second party developed title"
That seems like an awfully fine line when you flat out say a "2nd party" is not allowed to be in a Direct labelled "partner".
I'm pretty sure any company not part of Nintendo making a game for Switch could be considered a "partner" in some way.
Kind of like a spouse can be considered a friend, lover, partner or spouse.
I think they could have put Bayonetta 3 in there if they wanted too, but they are probably waiting for the actual Direct since they don't seem to have too much for that. Wouldn't have been wrong though.
@Monkeido 12 notifications. That's when you know you're in trouble.
if you were expecting a general direct this soon when the previous Partner Showcase said there would be more of these in 2020..
(with this recent one lamenting the fact we're getting more of this)
then I'm afraid you're going to have to keep lowering your expectations, because we're most likely not getting another
"General" Direct for a while..
Expect more shadow dropped Trailers And Partner Showcases..
@anonymous999 He also said that if something different showed up, news would come in September
This is one of the crappiest Direct Mini lineups I've ever seen.
Shadow drops, console launches with no dates, prices, or actual feature lists. Rising game prices, No news.
2020 is the year that gaming died.
That Just Dance part was very cringe and went on for way too long. At that moment, I knew the rest was going to be trash.
@NEStalgia only, Nintendo is doing fine. Remember the marketing of the Switch and all years after that until 2020?
Marketing did an awesome job.
@rjejr A second party title wouldn't be on there. For example, Smash Bros, Pokemon, Kirby, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario and many others are second party developed games so they wouldn't be there either but on Nintendo's stream outside of it.
@Friendly Everyone loves to dump on Reggie, but it's curious how the coherency of messaging took a dump when he left.
Not impressed but I couldn't care less. Have plenty to play. Right now I am half way through Starfox Adventures on Gamecube. Haven't played through since its release. Great game
Been working, so haven't had time to check this out, but wow, like I expected, everyone is losing their minds.
Better than the Shin Megami Nobodycares direct.
But still dissapointing -_-
I am starting to believe that Nintendo won't release anything major this year and wait until early 2021. Heck, they may even forgo the Mario anniversary altogether.
@NEStalgia @Friendly I loved Reggie's enthusiasm, energy and passion for Nintendo, but he was also the one responsible for the "blue whales" strategy, which paid off in one aspect by the massive success of the Wii, but also solidified the "kiddie casual" reputation that they've been now working to shake off with the Switch to some success.
What load of crap...So sad that all we get is like 4 rhythm games, some chibi kid stuff, an anime sequel, a tetris clone and some retro final fantasy spin off handheld games. Very dissappointing
@NEStalgia you know Doug Bowser was in charge of the marketing leading up to the Switch? Not Reggie?
Maybe it’s because he left his spot, not Reggie, that marketing took a dump (in your eyes).
Absolute garbage presentation and content.
@kingbk not 100% sure, but don’t you mean the blue oceans strategy?
I think you’re right about them following the blue oceans strategy. I don’t mind them being in one. Even as an adult I love their type of games way more than all the post-apocalyptic games, sports and shooters that come on the other platforms. There are so few exclusives on those platforms that interest me. Escapism and good feelings are at the core of Nintendo and I like that!
Watched it. It was pretty garbage. Just a bunch of shovelware and ports no one asked for.
Only thing I saw in the direct that was closest to notable was Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 but all was shown was just a new party mode and story mode which doesn't interest me at all.
@TheFullAndy This and so much this. I'm so sick of "THINK OF THE SHAREHOLDERS!!!!" Shareholders can bite my ***! They are the reason we get lootboxes, micro-transactions and other predatory tactics. They are also the reason crunch exists because publishers don't do crunch to get you the player the game faster, rather to please shareholders. PS Crunch is terrible and a plague on this industry.
I play games and I have ZERO stake in Nintendo as a company. But, Nintendo is one of the few publishers that care for their devs and not nickel and dimming the consumer with predatory BS in $60 games. So, when Nintendo wants to announce new games they can go ahead, because with Nintendo for the most part I will gladly wait because the wait is normally worth it.
@anonymous999 I don’t think Nintendo will have a Direct on Friday cause that would mean it’ll be late night Japan time on a Friday and I don’t think they’d do that.
The rumor is probably bogus and it’s probably a September Direct.
But let’s cross our fingers that there will be one.
The wait for Nintendo to announce 1st party content is getting annoying for sure, but I'm patient.
If we enter October with no Nintendo announcements, then something is seriously wrong.
@echoplex that is in the Mana collection that is already out, they used the American name for it FF:Adventure, not the Pal version FF:Mystic quest. Those games kept my Switch on last year (Adventure, Secret and Trials)
@iLikeUrAttitude
"Just a bunch of shovelware and ports no one asked for."
Who said ports no one asked ??
Be granted if we got some ports.
There is always a fan of the games you considered as shovelwares.
The games that you think shovelwares it might be a diamond for someone else.
The games that you think is a diamond it might be a garbage for someone else.
These smaller Directs are fine, but we really need to know whether Nintendo has any other First Party titles planned for 2020!
There has to come a point where it starts to hurt hardware sales when people get unsure whether there's anything to look forward to come the Holiday season!
@teo_o The showcase was boring. The games they showed were bland. It was bad...no one even had time to get disapointed over no "Metroid 4." Get a new line zombie.
@Clammy you say that as if rhythm games and shovelware are the same thing
@Dang69
"The showcase was boring"
To you son, to you.
Anyone who liked some of the games invloved are not "zombies" it just means they like different games to you.
Quite frankly you sound like a bloody idiot.
@Wexter Y..yeah you tell em! That poor billion dollar company called Nintendo’s feelings are so hurt! They never do bad things!
...
It’s always alright to be critical of mega corporations dummy. You shouldn’t owe any of them your loyalty cause they sure as hell don’t care about you, no matter what you dream.
@Anti-Matter I'm not going to be grateful for garbage ports no one cared about. The dislike ratio shows it. The reactions show it.
The feedback shows it.
That's it! That was the final straw.
I would call this a disappointment, but I never expected one to drop today in the first place. With all current rumours and word of mouth saying Nintendo plans to air a presentation this Friday.
I won't call this disappointing yet, but simply NOT exciting. However, considering the context surrounding Nintendo right now and what they're planning for the next months starting September, I believe this aired just to fill the promise of a Partner Showcase every month. Bonus points if there is indeed any announcement on Friday.
They also ended with a reminder more are coming for the rest of the year. Well that is indeed exciting for me since there will be announcements of some kind every month.
But these presentations are clearly smaller, and focus on either smaller-scale or previously-announced games with the one or two exceptions. That definitely won't satisfy an audience in serious need of big announcements and reminders that games like BoTW 2 still exist.
Before they continue with these presentations, they need to air a presentation focused their future first and second-party games, future hardware plans, business plans.... THAT is what they need to discuss on their investor meeting next month.
After that, I will happily treat these Partner Showcases as nice monthly updates that drop out of nowhere.
If not...
their plans will become uncertain... and a full year since the last general Nintendo Direct will pass. Will that record be (un)accomplished? I sincerely hope not.
@iLikeUrAttitude
Who the heck cares with your entitlement ??
The dislikes ratio were from very entitled fans.
Taiko no Tatsujin port from 3DS was NOT a garbage.
Rocky return game was NOT a garbage.
Captain Tsubasa game was NOT a garbage.
You said they were garbage because they were NOT Monster Hunter, Not Horizons, Not FPS games, Not BOTW2.
Maybe the Mini Direct was NOT for you but it was something granted for other peoples.
@Anti-Matter Ah yes calling everyone disappointed with the direct entitled. Typical apologists.
"Taiko no Tatsujin port from 3DS was NOT a garbage.
Rocky return game was NOT a garbage.
Captain Tsubasa game was NOT a garbage."
Yes the games that were shown and listed by you looked like garbage.
No one was excited for Just Dance 2021, Tanks etc.
"You said they were garbage because they were NOT Monster Hunter, Not Horizons, Not FPS games, Not BOTW2."
Are you this dense? The direct doesn't have to cater to exclusively me for it to be good. It could announce good games that don't have to market to me but I would still acknowledge the demand of the games like say for example No More Heroes 3 or something along those lines. Not interested in the game but I know alot of people that would love to see it.
The direct was for no one except maybe for people like you that eat up anything Nintendo gives you.
@iLikeUrAttitude
I am not apologist.
If the Direct was bad, i will admitted it.
The Mini Direct yesterday was not really my cup of tea but it was a bit better than last Mini Direct on July.
There is always a fan of Taiko no Tatsujin games, Rocky games, Captain Tsubasa games even you didn't like them.
They are something worthy to play by those peoples.
Myself wasn't really fan of Rocky games despite i have interest with Boxing / Kickboxing games. But i did really appreciate the return of boxing genre on modern console that really missing for several years ago.
You cannot say the direct for no one.
Who is no one ?
If no one that means nobody ever knew and care with those games, but in reality there is always minor audiences will celebrate those games.
And remember, the unpopular games sometimes taste better than typical AAA games.
@TheFullAndy The zombie bit was directed to you echo chambering the meme of Nintendo fans being ONLY being disappointed in a direct if nothing 1st party is revealed. We are allowed to not like something that is this mediocre and it does not have anything to do with it not being Metroid Prime 4. Seriously drone. Seriously get a new line. But since you went there, in all honesty if you got hyped from this Direct, I can only imagine how boring you are in real life.
@FargusPelagius I was referring to the SNES title, which may be called differently depending on where you live (in Europe it's Mystic Quest Legend). Me mentioning GB titles in that comment was probably confusing.
@Anti-Matter The last directs saving grace was SMT news and even people who didn't play the game acknowledged its presence in the direct.
Meanwhile this direct had no notable announcements.
The biggest thing that was announced was Just Dance 2021 and thats pathetic. With a bunch of rhythm games and mobile ports no one asked for.
If this direct pleased you then anything will at this point.
_"You cannot say the direct for no one.
Who is no one ?
If no one that means nobody ever knew and care with those games, but in reality there is always minor audiences will celebrate those games.

Every game will have at least some people who will like it even if the game is bad or considered bad like fallout 76, paper mario sticker star, federation force, color splash, yoshis new island, etc.
Doesn't mean anything. Sorry for not living in an echo chamber like you.
@iLikeUrAttitude
Actually, i found some unannounced Switch games from Mini Direct on playasia.
Well, the cute / casual games for me such as Rilakkuma, Pretty Princess Party, My Universe series by Microids, OG games, etc.
Btw, who asked for Taiko no Tatsujin 3DS port on Switch ?
Somebody else and ME
No one is not the right answer since there are always some peoples who still like playing Taiko no Tatsujin games including myself as long it has very good song list.
The Japanese direct was slightly better with a way better pace.
@Anti-Matter Thanks for addressing nothing I said in my previous comment and immediately going back to shilling.
@FullMetalWesker I was joking really, there wasn't anything in that partner direct that interested me, but then lets face it if you don't like rhythm games then that may have been the case for lots of people.
Also I do think there will be a full direct as I believe there will be a 'big game' for the xmas period. Maybe I should get a twitter page and report my feelings on there, then I may get an article on NL!!
@Wolfgabe happy birthday!
These directs are just terrible.
This is getting beyond a joke now. Nintendo are really starting to push their fans buttons. Surely they can't be this clueless.
@Dang69
I don't need to imagine how boring you are after reading that drivel.
Get a life son.
Feels like the Switch is tapped out, it comes down 2d hardware specs imo, the processing power is just not enough...compared 2d PS4 (Pro) that can still deliver a punch after 7yrs but the Switch is searching for more horsepower...mmm
@Cosats Exactly wtf...thanks bro
@RupeeClock Also really luv Tetris but now in 2020 we kinda yearn for a bit more excitement, how many times can they re-hash such an old game...and we also have Tetris 99...lol Nintendo r heavy on it...just a huge cash cow...
@Dang69 so let me get this straight: Nintendo gives space to their third parties granting them a huge audience of potential customers and the problem is you weren't interested in any of the games listed? Is it a problem of Nintendo, of third parties, or yours?
@echoplex ahh no worries. Yeah I have the SNES game, Mystic quest Legends on my Wii/Wii U, that one was certainly a "how to get into RPGs" game. Reminded me of the Ys series for simplicity.
@Magenof When did I state Nintendo never did a bad thing? They've done their fair share of messed up practices. But, most that is historical cases at this point and not something they actively do. I was mainly taking shareholders to the task as 95% of the stuff we complain about happening in the industry is a direct result of their greed. That and airing a personal frustration how a lot of users go "they need to announce X for the shareholders. blah blah blah."
Say what you want about Nintendo as a company. I don't care if you "hurt their feelings."
@teo_o It's their problem ultimately since i'm a customer lol - and yes it is beyond a necessity that they have 3rd party offerings and they highlight - some of my favorite games on Switch have been 3rd party like Fornite, Valykria Chronicles 4, Slay the Spire, Disgaea 5, YS8 etc. I think you're missing my point. I'm not complaining about a lack of 1st party, I'm complaining about how bland the partner's highlight is. I'm complaining about the 3rd party support not being better. About Nintendo lacking the the need to hustle harder and grow better and more fruitful 3rd party relationships and games.
@TheFullAndy I guess, then just keep consuming the scraps, half efforts and overpriced slop we're getting from them, that they are able to curate as a company. That'll send a good message. "We support anything you give us." They're not your friend.
@Dang69
I will do what I want lad, and you can keep sounding like a pathetic contrarian. Try to have an original thought ffs.
@TheFullAndy Not a contrarian. I like 3rd party games. They are crucial to me and to a console's lifeblood. But these 3rd party games have been weak. That's not contrarian bro.
Maybe tomorrow will be a first party showcase😆. Sorta sad that we are almost to a year without a general direct.
@Clammy that's what happens with successful consoles unfortunately 😕
Nothing of interest for me here. Oh well.
@Dang69
See I could respect that viewpoint if you didn't start spouting "zombie" and "drone". You can have an opinion and not be a muppet about it.
@TheFullAndy You got the zombie bit because you were making an echo chamber comment, not stating an authentic comment from yourself. Anyone who is critical of any Nintendo presentation or voices displeasure about it gets the same "oh you were expecting Smash, Zelda, Metroid, Mario, why not try 3rd party stuff" comments. When it's like "no, obviously I'm not expecting that, it's not actually all I ever want, I just thought this [insert presentation] was low effort, with bland 3rd party support, etc." Then again, probably pointless to try arguing with Dennis, lol.
@Dang69
What are you actually on about? Son go see a doctor you have issues, you thick *****.
Come on, play nice. It’s only games, nothing important
@TheFullAndy I have a thick d***? Why thank you sir!
@Dang69
So you can't count then. Makes sense.
@TheFullAndy Man you are so much fun.
Now we finally have a Good Mario Direct that revealed Mario 3D All-Stars and 3D World portt
