E3 might not have gone ahead this year, but in its place, there has been plenty of online events. We've had EA Play, Ubisoft Forward, a Nintendo Direct Mini, and many other broadcasts showcasing various upcoming games.
The next big event on the horizon is this year's all-digital Gamescom show. As you might recall, it starts on 27th August (that's next week) and will feature games from all sorts of publishers.
Geoff Keighley - the host of the opening ceremony - has now taken to Twitter to share the following video. He says the opening show will be a two-hour showcase, featuring over 20 games with brand new content - ranging from "next-gen stuff" to "indie stuff", to the "biggest games in the world". He'll start revealing more about it tomorrow.
As already mentioned, there are more than 80 partners sharing announcements across three packed days.
Although Nintendo won't be attending, some of the bigger partners that will be making an appearance include Activision Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Bethesda, Electronic Arts, Sega Europe, Ubisoft and team Xbox. Some other notable companies you can expect to see include Bossa Studios, Curve Digital, Dotemu, Merge Games and Strictly Limited Games.
You can see the full list of partners in our previous post and check out the full Gamescom schedule over on the official website. Will you be tuning in? Leave a comment down below.

Cant wait to see what's unveiled
After last year’s presentation, Im not really feeling it. Im not gonna see it live anyway. Any surprises, I’ll read about it later.
I hope something good is revealed or we get a look at something that is already known but no real details yet.
Turrican, dangit!

Hopefully it will not continue to be more Show Boating type Love Letters per se to the new Xbox (aka gaming PC that's not a gaming PC despite its shape) and PS5.
No Nintendo No Show
I look forward to hearing about virtually no Switch games during this presentation.
Why is there every game presentation possible this year except for e3 and a full nintendo direct? I much prefer the direct style over just randomly putting videos online, like they did with Pikmin and paper mario.
Last year’s one was extremely strange. Two hours of my life I’m not getting back other than the Death Stranding footage which was proper intriguing and led to me buying and loving the game.
I won’t watch live but I’m definitely interested in what comes out of it. I’m clamoring for any game-related news dealing with Nintendo releases.
MY AUNTIE SAYS MEGATON!
I will not watch as i knew there will be tons of rated 18+ games from the presentation so i will wait until Nintendolife staffs make article about the games that has been revealed and i can filter which game that i only want to know and see.
Geoff is the absolute worst person to hype anything. Anything he hypes ends up being a boring joke. I cannot stand him and have no idea how he became in charge of so many things gaming related.
Everything is always "oh you guys are going to love this new world premiere" que indie game nobody wanted.
Calling it right now... Suda 51 will be there and will actually show off viewable gameplay of NMH3. Will also announce NMH 1 & 2 HD. And maybe Killer 7 HD.
Sonic 2021. PLEASE. It... it's been long enough...
Looking back at 2019's Geoff event announcements (Opening Night Live and Game Awards), the most I think we'd get on the Switch front is more info on No More Heroes III and Bravely Default II. Expecting nothing though.
Still going to watch given the Xbox side of Geoff events are generally interesting like Opening Night Live 2019 had Gears 5 campaign; Game Awards 2019 had Gears Tactics, Ori 2 and Series X; Xbox July 2020 event pre-show had DQXIS.
The only thing I know about Gamescomm is that it involves cosplay and I’d rather swallow cyanide....
Nintendolife at it again...
Nintendo won't reveal new stuff at Gamescom, they never do anything at Gamescom! Ubisoft doesn't show amazing Switch-stuff at their September show, maybe only Just dance 2021. Don't fall for it, its all fake news!
Yeah this year has put me off watching any of these E3 lites. If you've got nothing to show, just cancel the events. I don't see the point of running these style events if the highlights are a Catherine re-release and Bakugan gameplay.
Just hope we get more switch games then last year
Provided all the games aren't digital only, I'll wait for the round up.
I’d love to know what happened to all the new games that would’ve been unveiled at E3
I want a Sonic Adventure inspired game:
1. Back to Adventure routes.
2. Chao Gardens (old and new)
3. Small Animals (All of the old animals from Sonic Adventure 1&2 with new ones)
4. A new Hedgehog would appear like Shadow from Sonic Adventure 2 and Silver from Sonic 2006
5. Current voice actors from Sonic Colors/Team Sonic Racing
6. New characters like a twin sister of a new hedgehog
7. All of the Playable characters.
8. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Rouge, Omega, Cream, the Chaotix, Silver, Blaze, Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic, Orbot and Cubot would appear.
9. Chaos Emeralds, Chaos Drives, Chao Races, Chao Karate and colourful Chao eggs.
10. A Nintendo Switch release (along with a PS5 and Xbox Series X)
Man I really miss E3...
@Sgt-Jack-V have you tried Gunlord X? It's a great Turrican wannabe.
Expecting it to be more relevant to the PS and Xbox crowd, which is fine with me, looking forward to it. Nintendo have their directs, and don't need much else IMO.
@Sgt-Jack-V Whaaaaaaaaaat?! Turrican on Switch or a modern Turrican either way would be amazing! Loved that game as a kid!
@nmanifold Dude thanks for that! I'd love a Turrican-like game!
Why isnt that guy just another car salesman
Nintendo really opposes communication this year, eh?
@nmanifold I don't want garbage imitations. I want the real deal with Manfred Trenz at the helm LIKE IT SHOULD BE.
