Re: Random: New York Times Crossword Puzzle Forgets That The Wii U Was A Thing

Amazing console, some of the best home console experiences have been on Wii U for me. Bunch of good third party games from its first years during which it still had decent support, overwhelmed by a stellar first party library.

Loved the freedom in how you wanted to play - so many controllers and controller options were supported.
The first HD Nintendo experiences: first ever HD Zelda, Mario etc. felt surreal to behold.
First console with offscreen play and featuring all the modes now popular with Switch: TV mode, tabletop mode and handheld mode. Playing blockbuster games on the shitter felt surreal as well lmfao.

Could care less about the general lack of knowledge/hatred for the thing - I loved it. Wait, I still do.

Re: Deals: There's Really Never Been A Better Time To Buy Starlink On Switch

Well, Ubisoft shot themselves in the foot by launching this game at ridiculously high prices. Which is just all too typical.

Also, I haven't been able to find a version of the game that contains just the cartridge (& not a fan of digital). These new action prices include all those toys as well. I'm not interested in all that useless plastic laying around — I just want the cart and play the game. Perhaps others feel the same way and this keeps Ubi from selling more as well.

Re: You Can Now Dress Up As Brock And Misty In Pokémon GO

The last time I watched Pokémon was like 17 years ago. Also never played any of the games because it's not my thing.

But one thing I do know is that the good old Brock & Misty I remember from my youth look absolutely nothing like those two people in the picture above.

@liveswired
Not sure what kind of ridiculous source you're getting this from. The Wii U lags even worse with eShop video streaming and that console is streaming Netflix and YouTube at native 1080p just fine. Ninty's crappy servers are likely to blame for poor streaming in eShop/News.

Also I've been watching 1080p videos through the hidden browser on my Switch just fine as well. No problem at all.

Either you are trolling or the guy with his 240p10 bs was.

Those trolls should get a move on & port RDR2 to PC already. PC + Ninty is gold for me because this combo allows me to play everything I have an interest in.

Not being able to play RDR2, however, is pretty annoying. It's literally the first and only game that I hate to miss. I'm not gonna buy an entire console for this one game, so please R*. Serve the crowd that made you what you are to begin with.

I've tried really, REALLY hard to like this game and put in a dozen of hours, but I find it repetitive, unoriginal, boring and bland. I cannot for the life of me understand what's so addictive about it and what it does that isn't done a hundred times better in another game. If his was a full priced title it would've failed miserably.

In those hours I played it, however, I never encountered any issues. Maybe this here is a vocal minority that did.

Re: DOOM Eternal On Switch Will Target 30fps

@CobraA1
Exactly. Actually, a game like Fast Racing NEO pushed the Wii U to its absolute limits while running 60fps at a sub-720p res. Playing it in splitscreen with more than 2 players caused the 60fps to drop to as low as 15fps.

After being ported to Switch under the name Fast RMX, it became full 1080p while still maintaining 60fps - it even held 1080p60 with 4 players in splitscreen. That's an extremely big difference, while they ported it in a few months. A testament to the Switch's superior power.

That's why I'd love devs to stop putting out 360p garbage on it, in games that look worse than five year old Wii U third party ports.

@kobashi100
You just urged me to buy it on another platform.

Also I'm clearly talking about 360p as the "lowest dymanic resolution" and not the res for the full game. But hey, read what you wanna read...

Don't be such a sissy, man. It's annoying when kids go "stay away bluh blah" as soon as they read something about their videogame toy that hurts their precious feelings.

First of all, I don't know where you've read that I'm wishing the games weren't on the system, because I never said so. In fact, I own them and I enjoy them for their portability.

Also, whatever runs on a portable Switch can run on a Wii U. But when I'm comparing third party games I simply notice that titles like Black Flag, Most Wanted or Blacklist look way better than Doom or Wolfenstein on Switch, while staying perfectly locked at 720p. This is just strange to me, because all the advanced effects that make Doom and W2 tough to run have been stripped on Switch, to the point where BF, MW and Blacklist are both graphically more advanced and running at a higher resolution on weaker hardware.

Thus we come down to my point: if the developer is not going to optimize their game enough to have 720p as the lowest dynamic resolution instead of 360p (360p in 2018... 360p!! Are we seriously talking about this? This is lower than N64!) then no, I don't need their ancient blurred crap until they've fixed it - or at all. The resolution thing really is a problem for me.

That's an opinion I'm perfectly allowed to voice on here. I don't need brainless QQ in return.

Re: DOOM Eternal On Switch Will Target 30fps

If it can't hold at least 720p docked, then no thanks. I'm grossed out by the 360p garbage of Wolfenstein 2, it makes the Switch feel like some 15 year old junk. It feels really pathetic.

I get that it's a tablet and all, but even the Wii U had better looking games running at native 720p. If you can't surpass that on the Switch, then just stay away please...

Re: The Good Old Wii U Lives On As A Virtual Boy Replacement In WarioWare Gold

Sculptor

Whatever. I love the Wii U and I still play mine to death. More so than my Switch even. Gotta mop up its backlog before I dive into Switch 100%. And it's telling that doing so is taking me so long.

Great library, awesome console with all its controller options / diversity. Only downsides are a relatively slow OS and certain apps no longer working 'cause Miiverse is killed.

A failure? Perhaps in sales, but to me not at all. Glad it's still getting easter egg puns like this one.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Keep Releasing DLC For Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

Sculptor

I can't see MK8 as anything other than the Wii U iteration of Mario Kart. Because... It is.

I've played it for so many hours on Wii U that I'm not gonna bother buying it again for the Switch. I just want an all new actual Switch iteration. It's fine if that's gonna take another three years, especially with MK8D still getting DLC. Though this is the point where I'd like them to stop with working on that to focus on the next game.

I doubt it will happen though. Graphics wise it would just be too similar to MK8D...
