Re: Game Freak "Excited" To See How Pokémon Sword And Shield Players Respond To The Wild Area's Camera

@johnvboy
It isn't. It's a genuine question. Not every little bit of criticism should instantly be seen as bait… That would be fanboyism. I know this is a Nintendo site but come on. Ugly graphics are ugly graphics.

Moving the series from handhelds to the Switch finally allows so much more power to be utilized for it. And they still handle it like it's another 3DS game. If I didn't know any better, I would think that these are 3DS screenshots at first glance. When you look closer you'll notice the only thing that really separates this from a 3DS game, which is the higher resolution.

I just don't understand how they can leave so much potential untouched for such a big series, hardware/graphics wise. It makes no sense to me at all.

Re: Poll: Is Your Switch Lite Suffering From Joy-Con Drift?

Sculptor

This is just actually a horrible and pathetic problem. Half of my Joy-Cons drift, one has broken right joystick which no longer registers being pressed down, one constantly disconnects/reconnects. All of these issues started when they were basically brand new, having seen less than 10 hours of use.

Worst Nintendo hardware I've ever owned. Basically a worse flaw than the easily worn out N64 joysticks.

Re: Poll: Vote For Your Favourite Nintendo DS Games

Metroid Prime Hunters for me. Between 100%ing it like 4 - 5 times and playing it to death vs. Bots and online, I must've put close to a 1000 hours in that game. Easily my most played game ever if I don't count MMOs.

And even here the touch screen excelled, because what an unexpected treat it was for FPS games. So fast and accurate. I miss that stuff.

Re: Poll: Have Your Joy-Con Been Drifting?

Sculptor

All three of my right Joy-Cons have issues. Two of them drift, one does so a lot actually, and the analogue stick on the third doesn't click anymore when you press it, losing that functionality altogether. Disappointing, not used to these kind of issues on Nintendo hardware.

@RogerFederer
But for real, do people still play that game?

I wanted to get max level on the CoDs, I am about to achieve that with BO2 after four years (so bored with that game I couldn't stay into it for more than a few rounds each time). Ghosts was next on the list, but last time I checked it had 31 people online, while BO2 was already pretty dead with 150 - 300.

I thought by now the last ~30 would be vanished from Ghosts as well. Is this not the case?

Re: Random: HBO Uses Wii U Controller To Promote Streaming App Only On PS4 And Xbox

@Rhaoulos
Well that used to be the case. Nowadays you're almost always using twin sticks instead, the left one to move and the right one to turn the camera. Mostly due to open world exploration games being all the rage this gen. And in the other hype of this gen, BR shooters, you're obviously using twin sticks as well 90% of the time.

Only some indies use left stick + XBAY, which for most people is hardly relevant. So I agree that the Wii U Pro Controller has the best layout, also because the aligned sticks are placed on the top instead of the bottom, which means your thumbs fall on them naturally and you won't have to hold them to the side.
It was just perfect and I'm sad they abandoned it. Holding the right stick in handheld mode on Switch is cringy as hell and gives me cramps.

Re: Guide: How To Fix A Drifting Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Analogue Stick

Sculptor

Three out of my four Joy-Cons have issues. And they all started when the things were just a few weeks old and still hardly used.

I have the Mario Odyssey red Joy-Cons and a pair of grey ones. The right red Joy-Con has an analogue stick that won't click anymore when pressed, removing that functionality altogether.
The right gray Joy-Con randomly disconnects and reconnects immediately after. The left gray Joy-Con has an analogue stick that drifts.

Really disappointed in their quality. Especially for the insane price.

Re: Is This Our First Real Look At Nintendo Switch Mini?

Sculptor

Switch Mini would be welcome. Increasing the userbase and a good alternative for people who only care for handheld mode. Make it slightly more powerful so that it can last longer despite being handheld only.

On the other hand, releasing a Switch Pro would be really stupid at this point. The Switch is still at the point where it can run the most demanding games, like The Witcher 3, which is more than good enough for the time being. Especially for a tablet.

Mobile tech evolves really fast. Waiting until the new PS and MS consoles release will give it another year and a half to do so. Creating a Switch Pro by then will make it vastly more powerful than it would be now. And it might even be able to run the most demanding next gen PS and MS games in a downgraded form once again. They just have to wait a bit, until its A. actually needed and B. mobile tech has evolved to the point where it can run next gen games as well.

Especially if Sony and MS remain so obsessed with upping the rendering resolution for their next consoles, a Switch Pro might run all their games again. Because the trade off for all those extra pixels will be the actual graphics not improving that much at all.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Beta Test Details And Images Are Already Leaking Online

Looks stupid. We're gonna be forced to hold it in portrait mode, l m f a o. A crime for a racing game where you need a wide field of view to see what's coming. It's probably gonna be cheap one-handed trash as well with automated acceleration. Sigh!

I hope it will have some 'pro' mode that at least gives us the option to play in landscape and take control of everything ourselves. Allowing us to connect a controller etc. But it's Nintendo so that's not gonna happen. Toddler mode it is.

Graphics options would also be nice, so more powerful devices won't be forced to display these pixelated ground textures. But it's Nintendo, so that's not gonna happen.

Re: Nintendo Switch System Update 8.0.0 Is Now Live

Sculptor

No folders, no themes, no Netflix, no browser. Those are what I want. I won't have to bring my laptop on vacations anymore to watch stuff on a decent sized screen.

Switch could be that all-in-one but we're going down the "purely a gaming platform blabla" route again to cover the fact that it's just lazy disinterest.
Just give us options and we'll decide if we use it solely as a gaming platform or not!

Re: Respawn Would "Love" To Bring Apex Legends To Switch But Has Nothing To Reveal Right Now

Sculptor

This is a game I'd actually play on Switch. Fortnite is just... ugh.

I despise the building, no matter how good I manage to get at it, it'll always be something I only do because they HAVE to. It stands in the way of my shooting pleasure. I also hate how kiddy it looks, in a bad way. Everything looks like shiny plastic. Cheapness.

Apex is the better game for me because it's different in all those aspects. Unfortunately playing it on PC is not an option because I'm an AMD Phenom user...

@Pod
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind you joking about it or not liking it - of course it's not everyone's cup of tea.
I just felt like giving it some due credit seeing how it got bashed way more than it ever deserved to be. Which was basically caused by unpolished animations, and those are not even a problem anymore. xP

But yeah, it still has a lot of rough edges tbh. Though there's so much to love for fans of the genre/franchise that they are easily outweighed. Would be a cool addition for Switch if they could get it to run.
