The rumours were true, folks! YouTube is officially available on Nintendo Switch.
Just last week, a listing for the online video streaming service was spotted on the 'game recommendations' page of Nintendo's official website. While it seemed extremely likely that the service was set to launch sometime this week, it hadn't been confirmed until now.
You can now find an app for YouTube on the Nintendo Switch eShop (at present you'll have to manually search for it), and it appears to be available worldwide. The download only takes up a tiny 89 MB of space, supports both traditional controllers and touchscreen input, and looks almost identical in design to the YouTube app also available on PlayStation 4.
The app can be downloaded for free, and users do not need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access it.
Did you want to see YouTube arrive on Nintendo Switch? Will you be watching your favourite videos on your handheld console? Let us know below.

Nice! It has a bigger screen than my phone, so great to use instead of my S7. I'm in.
āHello there, lovely peopleā finally on your Nintendo Switch. The future is here.
I guess that's pretty neat for those who need it. But I have so many devices that already have YouTube on them that I doubt I'll use this much.
I was just wishing for this last night, perfect for watching MST3K!
Where's the Nintendo Download article for this week??
About time. I probably won't use it since I have youtube on basically every other device, but it's a good feature for Switch to have that puts it on par with other consoles.
Better late than never! Will download this once I get home.
I usually use my phone to watch a Nintendo direct so now I will use the Switch instead. Sure I have other devices but I can type then dock it and watch!
@BensonUii This lot will never be happy. Never. Ah well time to move the goalposts again.
Cool I suppose
FINALLY., Now all I need is NETFLIX and I will never put down my Switch.
Party like it's 1999
I want Netflix, ffs... >.<
So so happy about this. Now Netflix and Crunchyroll next and then Iāll be happy! Thatās all I need.
WOOO NICE! GONNA USE IT A LOT!
Don't know why but this excites me.
This is excellent news!
Finally! <3
Next Twitch and I'm very happy
Good stuff, I doubt I'll make use of it since I have a laptop for that reason, but this is going to be a huge deal for a lot of users.
Also, UK users can download the software straight away from the Nintendo UK website, that's what I did.
https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/YouTube-1467860.html
A tablet you can watch youtube on? Woah! Nintendo does it again
Woot! Only travel with my Switch, Phone and Laptop.
This is perfect for a quick "Hardware UnBoxed" or "Mobile tech Review" video between games. No need to get up for another device.
I use HULU to take a break from Valkyria4 with an Anime or 2 all the time.
Great for those whoāve been clamoring for it
Great. Now I can watch my YouTube videos in 720p just like 10 years ago.š¤¦š»āāļø
Getting there, I got Hulu now I just need Netflix.
Finally, Youtubepoop on my Switch!
About time ffs.
Ptttf. What's the fuss.
'You all have phones right ?'
Blizzard 2018
Ok so the folks complaining about the no media apps are happy now right? Please?!
Noice... now Netflix.
This changes nothing for me.
FINALLY!!! - NL, now you need to post more vids!
Can't say I was too bothered, but it's nice to have the option either way.
Any eShop news this week?
@Grogan Hahahaha!!!
great for those that want it for me it is unneeded i have got enough devices that can i can watch yt on (and have better wifi) i don't need or want another
What's a YouTube?
@Spoony_Tech When the rumour came out last week that Switch would get YouTube 1 week after the 40 minute long SSBU Nintendo Direct live stream, almost exactly 1 week later to the hour, I knew it must be true, b/c that's some serious Nintendo Logic right there.
This is nice for all who specifically want Yt on their Switch. Not everyone has a smartphone/tablet/laptop/etc. Lots of people want to make their Switch a media access device.
Gee, only took them a year and a half lol
There's some free options for those that wanted them! Can't get upset about this. I mean...one could, but the one would be irrational.
So in the spirit of the irrational...
If I'm at home I can watch Youtube on my laptop or TV and if I'm out then I can use my phone with data. It seems pretty irrelevant to me whether the Switch has apps like these but at least people can stop complaining about it now.
I'm happy for this, I watch a couple of videos a day on YT, but I just realized I never go to the YT webpage or the YT app, I always start on the Web page that is hosting the video. I would have preferred a Web browser that could play videos rather than a YT app. I'll probably still use it for E3 and Nintendo Directs but not much else until Switch gets a Web browser.
yes. oh yes. definitely yes.
Actually, I guess that's good to have. I'm pretty sure I'll still be using my phone, tablet, and laptop for YouTube, unless YouTube is even as half as decent on Switch than it is on those other devices.
You thought Smash had a gazillion fake leaks? Welcome to the world of people watching, for example, a Red Dead Redemption 2 Lets Play video, and trying to pass off screenshots online as it being a RDR2 port playing on Switch!
All Switch leaks now need to be held to a higher standard, or BS. :3
I've been waiting for this!
I really hope this isnt as clunky as the Roku version.
89 MB - nah, after I log in my YouTube Account in app I checked and it was 90,8 MB. xD
This is a great option for those that need it.
Can we get online banking next š
I travel a lot for work and don't tend to bring my laptop so having the option of plugging in YouTube to whatever TV I can get my hands on is just a nice option to have.
I don't want my friends list (or me!) to see how many hours I watch YouTube though...
@SViper Like 9 MB makes a difference
Does it play HD 1080p?
If I watch Youtube on my Switch then how can I play my Switch while watching Youtube?
looks like the YouTube machine in our house (iPad 2) for our son has finally been retired as he can now watch it
on his Switch!!
Great news but man does it have an ugly icon, sticks out like a sore thumb. Can folk start complaining and perhaps Google will do a Snake Pass
Better question... will it stream 1080p60 content properly?
Downloaded! First thing I searched for: RedLetterMedia. Any fans here?
@Quarth oh yes. Where's my pizza roll?
@mikegamer, since when 90,8 - 89 = 9, good math man xD. I know what you mean, but just saying.
Donāt think Iāll ever use it, but nice for those that will.
@holygeez03 There's a 1080 option but not 60fps as far as I can tell. It works really well though, quick and looks great on the TV.
Awesome, now to cross that off my app wishlist and hope for Twitch and UK TV catch up like BBC iPlayer (If that can be on Wii U, it can be on Switch too!)
videso not loading.
Nice. Just downloaded it on my Switch and my kids Switches as well. They will probs my use the app much more than me, but I figured why not when the file is so tiny
Awesome! I will download as soon as i get home!š
Nice, now I get to watch Maru and Cole & Marmalade on my Switch. š
@JamesR Itās just finished, it took 12 years to make!
I would also like netflix and twitch please Nintendo!
See no point as I have a phone, im sure most have phones lol ... And you can't use it offline so meh
I don't really care about youtube, its nice but useless on the if you have no network. Now if we could get Netflix with the ability for offline download like on iOS.... I would buy a second switch for my wife for her commute as of now she's always altering between the switch and the iPad depending on what she want to do...
@BensonUii,
It's 120 fps at 8k.
Youtube looks awesome on the Switch screen.
This is also great if you use Movies Anywhere. Tie that service to Google Movies and voila! You have access to all those movies on your Switch via the YouTube app since anything in your Google Movie library is watchable on YouTube
Meh, I don't need this. I have a phone. And a tablet. And a PC. And a Chromecast hooked up to my non-PC television.
who really asked for this? i guess the 10 people who requested it can be happy now, power to them.
EH ?!
I will Download it right now !
@TheBigK don't forget the laptop too.
@ActiSwitch Nice use of ad hominem attacks. Appreciate it, keep it up, mate.. Bug off.
@SViper Uhhhhhhhhhh okay...
@huyi A large portion of the userbase, especially considering the wii, wii u and 3ds all got youtube eventually
@BenAV Different people in different needs and wants shock.
@Giygas_95 cole and marm FTW love those two kitties.
@Mew a large portion of the nintendo userbase more like, the rest of us really don't care.
I use an iPhone... YouTube now being on Switch means that I can finally watch YouTube with headphones and it not be a huge pain in the ass. ...for those who donāt know: iPhones and iPads havenāt had standard audio jacks for a while now.
@huyi yes.. that's the people who own a switch??
I'd still stick to my laptop or phone for this, but it's nice to have another option for those who want it.
@Beatley82 Don't have an issue with people wanting stuff. It's the people who carry on like the Switch is missing some required feature that are a bit annoying. It's a video game system designed to play video games. All that really matters is that it does that well, which it does, and then anything else is just extra.
@huyi Also Hosico and Sir Isaac!
@huyi Probably nobody. It's a nice addition though. I'll definitely make some use of it.
@BenAV That is true.
@Giygas_95 oh them too!
@Ryu_Niiyama I'd wager about 5% will be satisfied. You could hit about another 60% of them with Netflix alone, and the rest won't stop complaining until every streaming service in existence is on here.
Yes!!!!! Even tho ima download and never use it like I did Hulu Iām still happy.
@Quincy bluetooth headphones? but i can get why it can get annoying with no headphone jack.
So Youtube came before a built-in internet browser for the Switch?
@link3710 it will get to a point when it will just clog up the UI a bit like with the PS4 and all it's streaming apps i never use, i just hope nintendo give us the option to hide them in the future.
Oh well, I am satisfied that it's finally here.
@huyi You can... hide them now. Just don't download it, like me.
Iām so happy about this. My laptop is too big to use in bed, but my phone is too small. And I canāt use the tv since my bf canāt sleep with it on. So being able to have a decent sized screen that I can watch with headphones while laying down is fantastic
Very nice, I don't have a tablet so I use the Switch (Hulu app) while cooking or do other things. I don't use Youtube as much but I would probably still use it to watch NVC or other clips
WAHOO!!!!! IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!!
All jokes aside, very glad to see. I still think it should've been there from the start.
@BensonUii hahhaha so funny!
Overall, I don't really care, but it will be nice to watch Nintendo Directs on my switch instead of my PS4 for a change. That always made me feel a little dirty...
Good news ! Unlike Netflix, this is actually useful for gaming. Walkthrough videos, here I come!
Though apps remind me: We need folders! (Seriously I have like 50 tiles all over, and XC2 is burried behind Mega Man and far from Torna, Twewy is now off my home screen even though I want it there, but don't want it in front of the 3 games I'm more often playing. And I'm going to want all of FF next to each other, not randomly scattered behind whatever I played last.
@Ryu_Niiyama so....where do I sign in?
I also just realized something else I can now watch on Switch.
Truly the greatest timeline.
can anyone give me 1 reason apart from nintendo being muppets why it took so ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff long.
@NEStalgia you are absolutely right. Folders need to happen already! I have too many Neo Geo games i need to organize. But as for Youtube.....yay!!! It will be handy for sure!
@link3710 yes the most obvious thing is to not download, but with the situation on ps4 icons still litter the UI even if you don't download or not, hope that is not the case here.
OMG!!!! All the google play videos as well, the switch can do home entertainment!!!!
Yeah, I don't need this at all, but it's one less thing for people to gripe about the Switch not having. Of course most of those people will immediately find something else to gripe about.
NintendoLife comments:
comment1: oh, i already have it in my 5 devices,
comment 2: oh, i already have it in my 10 devices,
comment 3: oh, i already have it in my 20 devices, etc etc
Echoing others, I would like to see Netflix and Amazon Prime Video next
Picture in picture would be nice
Excellent, now you can watch NES/Gameboy/SNES Works clips on a Nintendo handheld console, and learn about all that fun back history little and well known while you relax.
BFD, if I want to watch some songs or short vids of Maxim Bady I'll do that on my Kindle or phone
Give me Netflix DAMN IT !!!
Hulu and/or Amazon maybe later, I want to watch my shows and movies, I heard Hulu is on Switch supposedly, but no idea and I don't have Hulu anyway, I want Netflix, it is on Wii, Wii U and my 3DS, give me mu frikkin' Flix man !!!
@Giygas_95
One of the few back in the day youtubers I still watch
@subpopz I bet your fridge does it cooler, though.
Great wil download it right away
Any word on Netflix or Amazon Video?
@huyi Considering you don't have Hulu or NicoNico showing up and they've been available for over a year, I wouldn't worry about it ;p
@krvstkvlt You put your Switch in your pocket?
@JasmineDragon Netflix and turbo tax. Maybe QuickBooks.
@JasmineDragon I mean it's ridiculous that we don't have Photoshop CC on the Switch. With the touch screen it's a perfect fit, and it's a much bigger screen than my phone to edit people's pictures to turn them into cats to post on the internet.
It's 2018 Nintendo!
@Locke159 I know, Johnny is awesome. My favorite YouTuber by far.
@link3710 I'm not gonna be satisfied until RealPlayer and Napster are on it.
@Mew
Best comment yet
Oh that's just Fugmucking great !!!
Nintendo not only did not put Netflix on Switch, I just got a message on my Switch as I turned on Voyager that Netflix is being removed from ALL Nintendo devices on January 30th
FUUUUGNUTZ !!!
@Quarth Most definitely. lol
Still don't really get why people want a bigger screen with a (probably) lower resolution.
But hey, I guess it's a good thing that this is out.
Ahhh finally!! It took so long!
Excellent! Glad it's not locked behind the network subscription.
@Denoloco thatās almost a reason not to download it.
I only watch YouTube whilst playing my switch so not much use for me. Still nice to have the option though.
.......Meh. I have a phone.
I'd be way more happy with Netflix than YouTube. YouTube has SO MANY ADS! I watch it on my iPad or MacBook where I can have an ad blocker running. With YouTube it's a new ad every few minutes..
Free. Do some places charge?
@BensonUii but where's WaLuigi?
OMG !!
I have watched some Youtube videos that support 60 fps ( I watched DDR A gameplay) !
It was so UNREAL to see a 60 fps Dance Dance Revolution gameplay video on Switch screen.
The Switch turns on so much faster than my "Smart" TV, so yeah, I'm very happy for it
@Trajan Yeah, but then you'd have to buy a new cartridge every tax season. It'd probably be more expensive than PC because of the TurboTax Switch Tax.
I'll see myself out...
@HobbitGamer "RealPlayer"
Just buy Skyrim. It's basically the same experience.
@NEStalgia Oh yeah? Well the Switch still can't run WinAmp! All preorders cancelled.
lol, gotta pay to use Youtube, not happening. xD
Is the app developed by google or Nintendo? I think only apps for Android and iOS are developed by google.
@HobbitGamer But then how will I listen to Depeche Mode on Switch?
@Joeynator3000 Err, huh? It's a free app and no sub is required.
Works perfectly. Thanks Nintendo
@HobbitGamer Nah, itll be F2P, and charge you to file them.
@NEStalgia Truth is using YouTube phone app to play Depeche while playing Splatoon.
So there is no comments reading or posting huh?
Nice. It would be nice if you could upload/stream gameplay vids directly from Switch to YT.
I wonder how large a percentage of their audience knows what kind of "tube" the name even refers to.
Anyway, where's my Spotify app, my web radio app, my guitar tabs app, and all the other apps like YouTube that just profit off of shoving ads in between other people's work?
@Pod It's the system of tubes that the internet is made up of, right?
Only took a year and a half
@NEStalgia ....Eh, I misread it, then. I just woke up. lol
Amen Brothers
Yes now I could watch TeamFourStars in HD anywhere I go on my Switch via my hotspot thing.
@holygeez03 @OorWullie It does support 60fps. You can check the framerate from the app as well by presssing the left most "more" button, then the stats button to the right while a video is playing.
@Locke159 Yes it does play 1080p.
I compared it to the Wii U app and the video quality is much better and smoother than the laggy Wii U version which drops frames and does not support 60fps. It's superior to the GamePad in handheld or the TV while docked.
The Wii U browser is a bit more competitive, it has the ability to open multiple tabs and navigate the site normally as well as read comments. But the Switch app supports higher resolution and framerate than Wii U, if you have a smartphone etc. you can link it if you want to read the comments (which will also allow you to see comments displayed properly if they contain things the Wii U can't display) and also have another way to control the Switch app. The Switch app also supports links to other videos that are embedded within videos unlike the browser. Overall you get better viewing on Switch, navigation might be a little trickier though.
and now for netflix, amazon, vudu, cbs all access, and more.
@Pod "tube"
Now I'm depressed......
Awesome. BUT WHERE IS NETFLIX?????
Itās ultimately pointless for me. I will always use my iPad over my Switch for YouTube or any sort of video streaming.
Anyone know why it keeps getting errors in the app everytime you try to watch a video??
@Mykillvee here: www.netflix.com
Glad to finally see it come to Switch. Just having the option is nice. Here's hoping Netflix is on its way too.
YES!!!
I can watch all my Google Play/Movies Anywhere Movies on Switch!
Are you telling me that i can have the sensual, seductive face of Vsauce on my Switch now!? Sign me up!
@Supadav03 thatās exactly what Iām using it for, to watch my movies
@huyi
who really asked for this? i guess the 10 people who requested it
How does it feel being so oblivious to reality?
I advise you to check the eShop and search by "more filters" so it lists all software by best selling status. Can pretty much guarantee that by this weekend, YT will be top of the list, and will stay at the top of the list going forward. And since Fortnite was downloaded 11 million times just being near the top for 3 months, well...
If this offered offline support with downloads like the Android app (for those of us with YouTube Premium) then I might find myself using it, as it is, it'll be about as useless as the Hulu app I've never used either
@BoFiS lol not even with the google play movies
FINALLY! Ok my precious Wii U, go ahead and start putting one of those feet in the grave! Netflix is only a matter of time now, but even more questionable is whether we'll get a proper internet browser. If we don't get that last one, I won't be too bothered, though it did come in handy for me. If I can be greedy for a hot sec, Crunchyroll would be nice too...
For those who are blaming Nintendo for this taking so long, well, don't. Youtube (and this app) are by Google.
I wonder if Netflix will face more pressure to bring their app to Switch now...
@w00dm4n Not really, I use my Switch on my commutes on the subway, when I'm home I can watch those through either the YouTube app or Vudu apps on my TiVo/TV/Blu-Ray and use my remote. If there were offline support, I could download things to watch on the train on my Switch rather than on my smaller phone screen.
good news as mobile phones unless they are top of the range aren't that good for it. Also you can watch it in bed and then if you decide you want to get up and watch it on tv just dock your switch, now Netflix and other streaming stuff pls.
This is kind of hilarious.
"Where's YouTube" "Why doesn't Switch have basic features like YouTube?" "Switch isn't going to sell without YouTube like a basic device!" "It doesn't matter that we have phones and tablets, I only want to take a Switch with me, and that's preventing me from buying one since I can't give the kids YouTube and they just use their tablet anyway"
NINTENDO RELEASES YOUTUBE
"Meh, I already have 100 devices that have YouTube" "I'll never use it" "It doesn't have all the features Android does" "Did anyone even want this?" "I'll continue not caring just like all the other apps" and "This is Stupid, all we wanted was Netflix!"
@NEStalgia The problem of modern fanboyism. Always wanting the thing they don't have, and wanting something else when they get it.
PEOPLE. It's just an app. NOBODY is forcing you to download it. Use it. Or care about it. Clearly you care enough to make a post about it.
Not the most pressing addition, but a welcome one.
We can now tick youtube off our "things the Switch will get before 'On system chat, dedicated servers, and Virtual Console" checklist.
Yusss. No Direct though š¬
@Audiobrainiac We've just had a Direct. I don't think Nintendo would / should do another one just before Black Friday. That would be bad for sales.
They have internet on computers now.
Good for the people that have wanted it. I really could care less. I have two Smart TV's and a PC with 27" monitors. But I can understand why some would want it that are on a budget.
@Denoloco
hahaha i actually heard his voice while reading it.
Now just bring the WWE Network
@Kriandis You can't take the TVs or PC with you on the go. If you have Wifi, the Switch is one step down from a tablet and one step up from a phone (screen size). Also it's not as expensive.
@BoFiS you'd think since it supports sd cards it'd allow you to
@HobbitGamer
Naturally, haha!
By the way. Has anyone tried it out? Can suggested videos be toggled off?
"supports (...) touchscreen input"
Unless you want to scroll, in which case you still have to use the buttons. It's also fairly unresponsive when a video is playing, you have to tap multiple times before the info comes up and you can seek to a different position. Bit of a hack job. Also: ads. A brave new world indeed.
@NEStalgia Surely those are two different groups of people.
Too many devices already = first world problem!
Donāt need it = donāt install it!
Am I the only one having issues with it? Everytime I Boot it up error or it freezes. Guess I'll just keep the ol phone handy
I am quite happy with this. Let's get Netflix and Twitch.tv next please!
@MysticGengar I try
Can you suspend your game then go on you tube to look something up and back to your game or do you have to close it first
@c2017nlifemedia
Oh lord, they actually allowed the ads?
Well that's it.
Not touching this one with a... well, poll of any length at all, really.
Can be Recording on Switch Games like LiveStream on Youtube can be direct record this video on switch games. On Album Video Record can send to Youtube.
Nice. Windows 10 gets 3D animated bees before a Movie Maker & Switch gets Youtube before a Virtual Console.
@NEStalgia You do have the common sense to realise that the people who said: "Where's YouTube on Switch?" and ones that say, "Meh, I have a million devices that can play YouTube" are two completely different sets of people, with completely different opinions on the subject of YouTube for Switch, right? The former is still excited for YouTube on Switch and the latter still doesn't care; it's really not that hard to understand...
@huyi So far not here.
Great now hopefully that rumoured direct isn't far behind
I am surprised, it works much better than the app on Wii U, just as good as the web browser version from Wii U. Good stuff. Gives me good hopes for Netflix as my signal strength was showing 1 bar but I watched an hour long Nintendo Voice chat in HD with no buffer.
It would have been great if I didn't have to close the game I'm in to use it... how can I look up walkthoughs whole playing if I have to shut down the game?
Just got an email telling me that they're shutting Netflix down on the Wii January 31st, 2019. Makes me sad. I actually use still use it on my CRT tv.
As expected, I can't use my phone on the Switch version :/
@Leuke currently binge watching that on my Switch now!!!
Anyone else getting a playback error?
Well, I don't have internet at home(outside of my coinhabitant's phone which I've been using while she sleeps) so this is fairly useless to me. Just gonna stick to downloading the vids when I'm at the library(library pcs have the sound locked on an)and watching them on my laptop which is more of a of tower at this point due to its screen being busted and having to have a monitor hooked up to it to use it.
@Moon I've been able to use my phone with the Switch docked,haven't tried in handheld.
Interesting logic here. I can't have voice chat through the console where I'm playing the game, because "we all have phones". Youtube on the other hand...
@NEStalgia it's not the same people.
@RidzDesign You should try to figure the game out yourself. Makes it more fun.
@Paddle1 Cheers. I suspected it was after watching a NL video and seeing Alex's hands move smoothly.
You know what the best part is? This will never see the light on my Switch.š
I'll stick to the 4K app which is on my TV and my Galaxy S8 for on the go, I'm so happy for the many people on here who apparently always take their Switch with them and always to places with good WiFi access š
@invictus4000 does your phone have a bigger screen than the switch? I think not.
@Trajan I don't, but that's irrelevant.
@matthewjrallen 1080P docked and 720P supersampled handheld š
Just tried it and I think it suits Switch pretty well. Thank goddess it can be used without online service(I'm still boycotting it)! Seems identical to LG Smart TV Youtube app. Using touch screen for searching videos works well. Good for watching videos on tabletop mode(my tablet doesn't have a stand). Too bad the app is limited same way as the other counterparts: there are no comments sections.
@N-Gage In a way there is a comment section. You press comments > a QR icon appears > scan it with your mobile > and comment from your phone.
Guess I'll have to download it just to check if it's possible to launch the app without exiting a game...
@RootsGenoa that would of been great but not possible. Tried already
@RootsGenoa it is not and I have to say that it quite bother me as I never close a game I am playing until I am finish with it
To be fair, don't care about you tube. Give me Netflix
@Balta666 Indeed, it means you can't even watch a walkthrough while playing for instance. It also bothers me for Netflix (if it's released some day), because I precisely don't play a lot on my PS4 because I know I'll have to quit a game every time I want to watch a Blu-ray.
Pretty nice, especially if I'm at my parents' house and want to watch some YT on TV, since they don't have a smart TV. Hopefully it doesn't stutter as much as it does on my phone.
Can you live stream with the Switch now? You can share 30 seconds worth on Twitter.
Fantastic news. Donāt like the white icon though
I wonder which moan we can move onto -
Hula - people from America seem to want this
Twitter - Fake news site
Voice chat - So I can call that person that killed me a ****
Headphone jack - We all love holes
Twitch - Live stuff happens on here
Folders - De clutter your lives
Virtual Console - More ports!
Facebook - What did you have for dinner last night!
Netflix - 1,000,000+ hours of rubbish available here!
Why did I buy a switch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@geordie nice one
I genuinely got confused for a moment and thought this was Netflix on Switch, which would have been a much more exciting prospect to me personally. Still, having YouTube on Switch is a nice little extra.
I read an article about this on some other gaming news site (sorry, I don't normally look at those I SWEAR), and they kept talking about how the Switch FINALLY has a little more video streaming, and if now we could just be able to download videos and get Netflix and blah blah blah whatever else, flying on a plane would be so much more bearable. If you have a Switch, which presumably has games on it, WHY ARE YOU NOT ABLE TO ENTERTAIN YOURSELF??? I will never understand why people complain about not having access to services that they already have on every other device they own.
Not bad but if you wanted to remove links that you don't like that doesn't seem to give you much control there.
Wanted this for so long and finally got to try it out. Loving YouTube on Switch.
cool but I'll stick to my iPad Pro
@Xcape_DuCkMAN_X Nice! It's always been one of Youtube's best features IMO.
Downloaded this late last night and looked in my āPurchasedā tab, where the unexpected benefit of my linked Movies Anywhere account became apparent. 100+ movies accumulated over the years from iTunes, Vudu, Google Play and DVD/Blue Ray (Digital copy) purchases. Who needs Netflix? Sadly no download feature as far as I could tell.
@Denoloco I totally read that in his voice.
@N-Gage In all fairness, the YouTube comments section is usually full of garbage anyway.
And Netflix? And Spotify? And Crunchyroll? A way to chat/message friends?
I've never been that bothered about Youtube on the Switch, but I downloaded it to try it out and it's very quick indeed. Loads and navigates 10x faster than my smart TV. I doubt I'll get much use out of it personally but I have to say it works a treat.
I'm sure a few other streaming services are pencilled in and will make their appearance in the fullness of time.
Well am actually quite happy with this. Currently enjoying watching my Google movie purchases via YouTube on switch. Screen size is perfect for chilling out in bed and watching something!
Extremely happy for another way to watch Alex from Nintendo Life
I'm fine with just this; I don't need Netflix or iplayer
Downloaded the app, runs flawlessly when docked, but the problem doesn't occur until I try to use the app in portable mode, in which every video I try to watch greets me with a black screen with a error message, I've tried to update the app and also tried to update the system in which both were up todate ,I even powered the system completely off... Turned it back on and yet to no prevail I am still running into the same issue.... If anyone has any insight on how to resolve this issue PLEASE comment.. Thank you
