Didn't we already know all of this since launch?
I will buy into it when I see what this scenario is.
I loved the game, but the ending left me...unsatisfied. Hoping this new story scenario ties everything together.
Very need adding Homura/Hikari as additional character!
Or may be they can be main characters of Originak Story Scenario
The final scenario really needs to tie the whole series together and actually make a decent ending… don’t drop the ball with the ending, again!!!! 1 and 2 were phenomenal. The ending of 3 was poor in my opinion.
Until they release Torna 2 or whatever this ends up, I'm gonna just wait
Loved the DLC for XC2 and the expectations on this were set early and it currently meets those.
A new story will be amazing, but saving my NG+ playthrough for when DLC 3 drops.
I finished the game before the DLC started to drop and the early waves don't really add enough for me to go back. Holding out for a potential physical release for the extra story like Torna.
Literally just beat the game with all hero ascensions completed. I might check out the expansion at the end of next year for the new scenario stuff but not going to bother for the singular hero characters.
Did love the game but I’ll be putting the game to rest and playing other games now.
The ending was great, don't know what people could have wrong with it unless they were wanting some kind of storybook/Hollywood ending, in which case I'd say they missed the point of the game.
How the hell have people completed the base game already? I'm still on the tutorial. Hopefully they delay this till 2024.
Bought the DLC before the game launched. I've never been disappointed by a Xenoblade game or their DLC's before, so I had no reason to doubt this one either. Can't wait to try the challenges and Ino this weekend. How people didn't like the ending is something I can't fathom. The developers have stated on several occasions that the games are only vaguely interlinked with each other (like the NieR games and Drakengard). And XC3 wrapped up Klaus' project perfectly as well as providing hope for the future.
@tabris95 Yes. They made this clear when the DLC was first announced. I bought the DLC right after the announcement.
On a sidenote, what's with all the negativity about the ending? All the Xeno games are only loosely tied together anyways, the creators have stated so on several occasions. Personally, I think this ending works well as it ties up Klaus story/project and gives hope to the future, in a subtle manner, sure, but still satisfying. The DLC might shed some more light on this but to be honest it doesn't have too.
Just gonna wait until the last wave, the only one that interests me much anyway.
I also think the ending to this one as a ‘series conclusion’ was just plain bad, the entire game doesn’t feel like it needed to be tied in this trilogy at all honestly. Just a standalone would’ve been better. But as an ending to this game without the trilogy in mind…it’s fine. It fits the themes of the game, I like the character interaction in it, I didn’t feel anything but the game’s later parts disappointed me as a whole anyway. So I just hope the dlc feels like a better trilogy conclusion, but it doesn’t have to ‘fix’ anything about 3’s ending. Hoping to see more returning characters get playable, but we shall see.
I really think the DLC will be a prequel about The Founders. I have no proof but also no doubts.
I hope the new story is like Torna and will see a separate release too.
@Takoda I like your take. I feel similar. I was overall happy with the ending. It was less mind-bending than previous entries. But this one spread out that psychedelic imagery more throughout.
@Kuroki They're probably dead by the time XC3 takes place
Having completed everything to do with Ino in roughy 45 minutes or so, I'm not too excited for the next wave as looks it'll offer much of the same. It's a shame as Xenoblade 2 added a lot more variety in content with it's DLC, several blades with their own quests and side-stories.
I haven't checked out the challenge battles yet, which if that is a lot more fleshed out content wise then maybe the meat of it is there.
That silhouette's giving me very, "The mom from Kill la Kill," vibes in terms of the design. Guessing it won't actually be that similar though.
Either way holding off on the DLC until the side story comes out, only real point where it'll really feel worth the $30 I think. Personally hoping for a sequel story of sorts since I'm definitely in the, "The ending was limp," camp.
Though really my biggest hope for the DLC story is that it's less of a grinding sidequest-bloated chore than Torna is. Went through 2 and 3 in relatively short order and I'm still struggling to work up the motivation to bother finishing Torna.
I was a little surprised that the newly added hero quest is accessible pretty early game. I imagine most people will steam-roll the new content in an hour or two with their max level party. The new job itself is pretty tasty though, it's snappy and fun to play.
I'm still playing through chapter 3 so once I'm finish I may look forward to the DLC (or just finishing up Trails From Zero for now).
@Thoughts I guess the ending was just...bittersweet? Like...I get it, very cut and dry what would happen.
I just wanted to see "that moment" - not merely get a hint that "the moment" is going to happen.
It just...angered me more than anything. If that makes sense. I didn't hate the ending per se, but I felt like it lacked true closure.
I hate having to dance around spoilers lol.
One thing that people underestimate with continuous DLC output is its low-key marketing value.
With Expansion Passes and DLC, Xenoblade 3 continuously regains mindshare in potential buyers. I still don't own XC3, and every time I see more rollouts of DLC, I remember that I want to buy this soon, and that feeling grows just a little more with each update.
Even if the DLC or Expansion Pass itself isn't quite worth the purchase right this minute, its very existence will help to promote the base game for the next year and a half. Just like Smash Ultimate's 2 Expansion Passes.
New Fire Emblem Engage character looks great
I'll be honest and admit I'm not a fan of either of the DLC hero designs for 3. They both look more like some of the more over-the-top Blade designs from 2 to me. They'd fit more with that game visually, but with 3's more grounded/consistent design style, they stick out like a sore thumb (And I want to clarify I do really like 2 as well and I think it had a lot of really nice Blade designs. There were also ones that were a little too ridiculous in my mind, and these two remind me of those). That being said, I'm still excited to eventually try the DLC! Just waiting for a physical release for the story expansion like what Torna got.
I wonder what happened to Azurda/Gramps? Part of me would have loved to have found his remains, on top of some hill, covered with flowers...
I hope there will be more references to XC1/2 in the story DLC.
I think the ending is fine.
What I would like is a prequel dlc to flesh out the villains and understand their motivations.
Maybe we could play as a young Vandam. That would be cool.
The ending was horrible and a slap to the face of fans who have followed the series from its very start. The ending would have been fine if it wasn't billed as the end of the Kalus trilogy. In other words, if there was game to be set within the world's of Alrest and Antonios, then I would have had no problem with it, since the dissatisfied conclusion - which essentially rendered the efforts and sacrifices of the series' prior heroes somewhat pointless.
Furthermore, Antonios itself is more or less an illusion. But worst of all is the fate of everyone on the "planet" is unclear. It is suggested that everyone dies but not everyone returns - which, would include a large group of people that happen to live in a large and important populated area. Best case scenario is that most people are reincarnated with minimal to no memories of their previous lives - which, for those with no memories - is essentially death with no afterlife. This also has the effect of making all of the quests feel somewhat pointless, and in some cases, like a lie.
For instance, there's a quest to marry a couple in what is essentially a take on Romeo and Juliet, but with a happier outcome. However, even though it is happier, the girl's father still essentially disowns her. If you talk to her in the post game, she says that she can't wait to raise a family and to mend things with her dad. To which the heroes essentially say, "We hope there will be a good outcome..." despite knowing full well that they're going to be annihilated long before either of those things even happen. There are multiple instances where I felt like I was just leading people on and while I can on some level appreciate the idea of making people feel good while they're here, keeping them in the dark about what happens when Z is killed still feels incredibly deceptive.
The message is basically ignorance is bliss! Maybe it is, but it's not usually a disposition that most people would describe as positive. The game's conservative faction actual knows what their fate will be but we're supposed to look down on their desire for self preservation, but it seemed understandable to me.
All of this would, on its own, be unsatisfying, but when you add in the fact that - after 100 hours of seeing your party grow and become close friends - your reward is seeing them separated made it all feel even worse. Will they meet again? Maybe. The two cameos of heroes from the previous games likewise seem more or less shoehorned into it, as though to force some kind of connection beyond the amalgam of cosmetic similarities.
Don't get me wrong, I like 85% of the game. The battles are kinetic and fun, and who doesn't like a class system Chapters? Chapters 5 and 6 contained some of the most genuinely incredible and emotive moments that I've ever seen or felt in a game. It's just sad that the climactic highlight occurs closer to mid-game rather than the end - something made worse by the largely samey, generic villains - some of whom come with plot holes the size of TX.
I hope the Wave 4 story DLC ties up some loose ends because - if it doesn't - then, at least in my opinion, XC3 will probably go down as the worst of the 3, at least in terms of story.
Anyone holding out on the DLC until they finish the game, I think you’re losing out. Having the additional clothing and heroes for the first play-through was really fun.
@Andy_Witmyer I feel like you came to the wrong conclusions about some of these things. As a certain character outright states "All that exists is reality." Aionios was no illusion, and the people born in it are described as "future lives" who will be born again at some point after time starts moving again, and whose experiences in Aionios will be a part of who they are. None of the three game's stories were pointless, they all needed to happen to give the worlds a future. The other option was annihilation. There is a great video on this you can find by Luxin on YouTube titled Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - Ending Explained.
@Ryan_Again I am holding out on buying the game until wave 4 of the dlc rolls out. I made that mistake with XC2. I bought the DLC but I never went back to replay the game with the DLC.
Is that sword on the left the Menudo? It really doesn't age, does it?
