Re: Nintendo Reconfirms March 2017 NX Launch And Quality Of Life Concept Development

RoomB31

There is a theory that the NX will have QOL elements, but QOL will be its own separate entity. If Nintendo can expand on itws own wiifit, Fitbit & other QOL hardware, I think it could have a chance, the dangers are of course overcharging for it, but it almost sounds like a service product (with or without monthly fees) and software.

I kinda laughed at the Ubisoft article about being excited for NX, they are excited for ANYTHING, so while its nice praise, coming from UBI doesn't solidify anything.

Re: Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition Coming This November, Ships With 30 Games

RoomB31

Wow, Nintendo really? I'm not agreeing to whether this is a good idea or not, maybe they are testing waters, as this could be seen as more of a toy than a console, since it's limited to those 30 games. I applaud Nintendo for trying something different, although this plays right in the hands of Nostalgia and nothing more. I would however like to see Nintendo release a console/service that takes VC and puts it on a monthly service, all you can play Virtual console from GB to DS, NES to N64, (GC would be nice but I'm dreaming)

Re: Nintendo is Making a Subtle Shift in Company Focus

RoomB31

It's a slippery slope. Quality in every product/experience is key, diluting the brand is a nono, meaning thoughtful ip uses, theme park is a great one, movie all depends on the IP, merch is good if you can tie it back to software. If it is thought out well, go for it, but we don't need Mario themed diaper wipes.

Re: Editorial: An Ode To The Wii U GamePad, Nintendo's Mad But Brilliant Controller

RoomB31

I never "loved" the gamepad, but I did not dislike it, my husband really dislikes it which meant I grew to love it more since I would be the one to use it during multiplayer sessions (we only have one pro controller). Speaking of Multiplayer, this was one very cool aspect of the gamepad, Hyrule Warriors being my optimal example, having separate screens playing co-op was awesome, and it's something I'll miss.

I rarely used off-tv play, unless i was hunting the eshop.

Integrated NFC functionality is great (no extra adapter to buy) even tho amiibo support has been hit and miss.

Implementation of the second screen has been okay. I get it, if a game doesn't need it, don't force it, but why was there no thought from the get go (DKC).
Some have been simple but elegant, (Lego City, #FE.)
Some just maps (many games),
some just plays the same game on the bottom screen but with touch enabled (Mario 3D World, Rayman).
Some were used to build (mario maker), and more should have used this feature, it's a crying shame that Nintendo fans waiting all this time for Minecraft, and it's the laziest port to mankind!!!!
Some were clever (ZombiiU, Nintendoland, Affordable Space Adventures)
Some were out there, but they tried (Star Fox).

In it's short life it has seen some interesting implementations, but never where someone said "I need to play that way". It fumbled with marketing and the Wii name very well hindered its progress, and confused the public. The gamepad was ugly, functional but ugly, it could have used a little more time int he design dept.

We'll love you gamepad, but we'll always be confused by you.

Re: Weirdness: The Mario Party Star Rush Box Art is Actually Recycled From the Mario SpagettiOs Can

RoomB31

The game from what I've seen actually looks quite fun, new and fresh for a Mario Party game. If it's the box art, so be it I guess, nothing to work up about, stop judging a game by its cover. People reuse stuff all the time, that's nothing new. This, like some people have said could just be a place holder, because its super strange that they would cut off Luigi's head like that.

So we'll see about the art and about the game.

Re: UK Toys-To-Life Market Slumps 12 Percent Year-On-Year

RoomB31

Amiibo should have never had LINES, like Smash or AC or MARIO, it breaks the whole system that we were promised (that all amiibo will offer something in games that use them). It should have just been the Amiibo line, and then we wouldn't keep getting duplicates, the Super Mario line and the new kirby line are the biggest offenders.

Re: UK Toys-To-Life Market Slumps 12 Percent Year-On-Year

RoomB31

I will buy more amiibo once Nintendo gives me more use out of them. I like that amiibo can offer a little something in many different games, but I want an Amiibo game, that builds worlds and characters etc... based on the amiibo scanned in... I'm waiting Nintendo...

Re: Review: Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge (Wii U eShop)

RoomB31

@Shirma_Akayaku But the idea was never to have people buy amiibo for this game alone? So reading it that way would of course make it a ludicrous investment, this is just Nintendo trying to find cheap ways to give people more for what they already paid for. And using the Mario line makes the most sense since they are the most compatible and widely available of the amiibo. No one should be seeing this game as anything other than a bonus.

Re: Monster Hunter Set To Overtake Street Fighter In Lifetime Sales This Year

RoomB31

I believe the Pokken Vs. Street Fighter debate is a little fuzzy. The comparison was made comparing the physical Ps4 version to Pokken's physical sales (in NA), and I think people were blown away that a brand new fighting game with little cred on a dying console could outsell a long standing franchise on the PS4, but the numbers clearly skew to whoever was trying to make that point.
