Re: Sumo Digital Reveals Price Of Snake Pass On Nintendo Switch

RoomB31

It's a fine price,

And honestly I don't care how "LONG" it is or how MUCH CONTENT there is to need to justify the price. Some of the most enjoyable games I've played are merely a few hours long, but beautifully crafted and executed. If you can't see value in the game, don't buy it, simple as that, but don't pull this BS how much content you need to be satisfied. All of this is within reason of course, because we expect more from our hard earned dollars, but c'mon, most people barely complete the main game these days, citing their evergrowing "backlog" of games they will never get to (but bought at a great price no doubt)

Re: BoxBoy! Retail Collection Hits Top 10 in Japan as Evergreen Titles Lead the Way

RoomB31

Those aren't great numbers for a new release, sure it's a compilation of eshop games with an amiibo, but it still should have done better than that. Considering that it now has 3 games in the series, the visibility of the boxboy brand is much much higher than when the first was released. I guarantee stronger Western sales if it's ever released outside of Japan, here's hoping.

I already own the first Boxboy, but would but would probably get this day one, which is why I'm holding out from buying BoxBoxBoy on the eshop.

Re: Nintendo Switch Dips to €299 on Amazon France

RoomB31

@rjejr Funny is we didn't used to be SOL in Canada, so we're feeling it quite a bit. I get currency fluctuations, but this is horsedung! When we used to pay the same for the Wii U to paying $80 more for the Ps4 to now paying $100 more for the Switch, and now $80 per new release (AAA).

Also that $399 (with tax) is more like $455 for a lot of the Country. and that $80 game is now $90. I now wait for gifts/sales...

Re: Japanese Gamers Think Nintendo Switch Is Too Expensive, But Don't Mind Paying For Online Access

RoomB31

@Mega_Yarn_Poochy because the US isn't the centre of the Universe. The Wii U in CAD was the same price, the Wii in CAD was the same price, and now the Switch is $100 more, yes I get market value ,trade tariffs etc blah blah blah, but we don't magically get paid more because our dollar fails us compared to the greenback, So $399 is quite expensive compared to what we were used to.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Nintendo Switch Presentation?

RoomB31

@RoboBubble even if it was $249 USD, it wouldn't have been less than $329 CAD so not sure where you would think it would get close to $299 CAD, when I heard that it would be $299 US i was okay $379 CAD (Still high) but nope $399 and thats past my limit, which is sad because I do want one, but not pre-ordering. I was really expecting 1,2 SWITCH to be part of the console bundle, and agree some game should be bundled at that price.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Nintendo Switch Presentation?

RoomB31

@MarcelRguez yeah but don't you see it as a missed opportunity?
I mean, it was detailing the launch, for a system that comes out in about 6 weeks... seeing only 2 defined launch games was super disappointing, and a huge fail at communicating a reason to pre-order. I'll get one, but probably not until the Mario game comes out. Also can we talk about the price of controllers.... absurd.

Re: RiME Developer Confirms May Release for Nintendo Switch Download

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's not unsurprising, but is disconcerting. Reasons being the Switch carts def cost more to produce, which ultimately means less physical indies & smaller scale games, which will result in full SD cards relatively quickly (although if they are easy to remove and insert it may not be all bad).

Regardless, if there is a physical version, I'll get it (because that is what I prefer), but if I really want to play the game and it's only digital, I'll download it.

Re: Poll: Are You Optimistic for Nintendo's 2017?

RoomB31

I'm excited for this year, because c'mon it's Nintendo! they may make really dumb choices sometimes (so much that it boggles the mind) but the games, THE GAMES!

I will be getting a Switch, just not at Launch, not because I don't have faith in the hardware or software, just because I don't have time, and I'd rather spend my money on it when I can spend time with it.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

RoomB31

@HaNks That assumes most Wii U owners will be buying a Switch right away, and while I want one, I will probably wait till the fall, mainly for 2 factors, I feel the beginnings of the Switch Will be heavy on Ports (which is fine for the non Wii U player, and also fine if these ports are upgraded versions, but doesn't make me super excited to want one on day 1), and 2) I'll have other things to play in the meantime, mainly Ps4 and 3DS.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Rattles Away From Wii U Release

RoomB31

This is a burn like no other,

I just wish they'd be honest with us, "We don't want to release this on a dead console", because if there were such insurmountable issues with the Wii U version, we'd most likely have heard of them already.

Re: THQ Nordic Is Currently Working On Two Nintendo Switch Titles

RoomB31

@whanvee I agree with your point to an extent, but I would also mention that the state of the platformer has all but dried up save for Mario (and now 2d indies), so no wonder he is the most popular, he never left our mind's eye. I can barely think of a platformer on other current consoles (that are not indies).

There is this current resurgences of the SNES/N64/GC heyday of the platformer, so I expect that we will see more, eg. Yooka Laylee, HD Crash, and tons of other 2d platformers.
