Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is Coming to Nintendo Switch

RoomB31

@Lizuka for shame!! It's good that you liked them enough to not finish them I guess. I think this sentiment is a general problem with gaming these days, we have too much to play, because we buy more than we can ever play, and we can never really enjoy what we have because we've moved on to something shinier and newer. I'm not questioning your taste or choice, just that this is a growing sentiment with a lot of gamers, and it's frustrating because we never really sit and enjoy games anymore we only consume them.

Re: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is Coming to Nintendo Switch

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I get the frustration, but did you not enjoy your experience with the Wii U? I don't feel cheated, every system is a gamble, especially in the early days, but I've had more fun on my Wii U than on my Wii or PS3 (this is obviously a personal experience). Sure it died early and didn't have volumes of games, but the games it did have I enjoyed immensely and will remember fondly the Wii U like I do the Gamecube and SNES.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th May (North America)

RoomB31

I know TumbleSeed came out on Tuesday, but you guys should really have releases for the Week and not just what tumbles out on Thursdays. There seem to be more and more games not following the Thursday guideline anymore, Puyo Puyo Tetris also came out on a Tuesday.

Just a thought...

Re: Meet The Mario Maker Player Nintendo Wants To Ban For Keeping The Game Alive

RoomB31

Nintendo could have patched the game based on his levels without banning the guy. I can understand exploiting a glitch could (possibly) cause some unwanted errors on the end user who plays the levels, but banning seems severe.

Here's a questions, were the Wii U still alive and supported, would this game still be alive and supported? Did Nintendo move on? or is this just a common "let's release this and support it for a year" kind of rhetoric, Since I'm not one for online play, although in this case more like online updates/support, I don't really know how long a game tends to be supported...

Minecraft can but shouldn't be compared since it's not tied to one system or one ecosystem, and is still getting new releases on new consoles.

Re: Investors Show Optimism as Nintendo's Share Value Hits 2017 High

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE exactly, and then the sharp fall when shareholders realized that Nintendo wasn't making that much profit from it.

since then tho its been slowly creeping, which is good news, that's confidence building. Frankly I really do care for stocks/shareholders and market value, I just want good games that make me happy.

Re: Review: TumbleSeed (Switch eShop)

RoomB31

It's these unique eshop games that really excite me about Switch (exclusive or not), still waiting until the fall because I know Odyssey will be that killer app for me, MK8 would have been had I not had a Wii U.

Nintendo isn't wrong about expecting households to get more than one Switch as our household will probably get 2, I just wish the pricing here was more attractive, $399.99 CAD is not that inviting.

Re: Surprise, Nintendo Isn't Hosting An E3 Press Conference This Year

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE why does no press conference mean no big showing?

show floor, treehouse, probably demos at BB again, clearly a Nintendo Direct, I don't think that's anything to scoff at, or not having a press conference means they have nothing.

I remember that BIG Sony explosive press conference that made everyone say Sony "won" E3 (2015), it was flashy sure, but still some of the games shown or talked about are STILL NOT OUT (and probably won't be out this year either), so it's a balance of reality vs hype. How much do we talk about, when are these games actually coming, timing is everything.

I really hope Nintendo brings it this year, but I want a realistic presentation as well. I know what will get me to buy a Switch, I'm already excited for it, and it's marked on my Calendar, and e3 hasn't even passed yet.
For my PS4, I was excited by E3 2015, but we're still left with a lot of empty promises from Sony. Sure I finally dove in after the slim and FFXV were released (late OCT 2016), but had it not been for those things I'd still be waiting.

Re: New Nintendo 2DS XL Announced, Releases 28th July

RoomB31

since the Wii U basically never went on sale and never got a hardware revision, this is the perfect lil brother to the Switch, half the price for gamers who never dove in/need a new one/on a budget. This in no way affects or compromises the Switch folks so calm yer nerves.

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Switch)

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE My guess, is that While Lego City undercover was a fun game, it was plagued with loading issues, something that wasn't really fixed in the port. MK 8 didn't have any particularly large gripes a part from battle mode, and that was greatly fixed. Two ports, but one that was improved where it fell flat the first time, and the other still missing a chance to fix that one great gripe.

It may not feel like full price worthy to you, but to anyone who didn't own the Wii U version, it absolutely is. Also, considering that the Wii U version is still almost full price anyways, it's a no-brainer.

Do I think it deserves a 10? eh, not really, although numbered scores are so outdated anyways.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Remain Strong in Japan

RoomB31

For Japan, a Monster Hunter, a Pokemon (mainline), and a Dragon Quest (we know XI is coming) will put Switch over the top and in the best position possible, a FF would be nice, Splatoon 2 will do wonders, what else is Big in Japan?

Re: LEGO City: Undercover Sells Best on Switch in UK as Yo-kai Watch 2 Endures Poor Launch

RoomB31

@CaPPa It's also the type of game that would do well on a Nintendo console, regardless of timing. Which is why Snake Pass is doing well as well.

Yooka Laylee would have performed better had it been ready, and if it were actually getting a physical release on Switch (unless something has changed), I think playtonic are shooting themselves in the foot, at least in terms of potential sales. It will probably do fine, but reviews have been mixed, and a game that's had quite the high profile run in the media will be missed when it's not found on shelves.

Re: Talking Point: PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio Draw Battle Lines, But Nintendo Goes Its Own Way With Switch

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE what 3rd party games are you even interested in?

We can all make an argument on why Nintendo should have more AAA third party support (which is essentially what you are arguing for), but bigger more powerful hardware isn't going to make AAA games flock back to Nintendo. Your argument is simply that you are not happy with the experience Nintendo gives, but wants to play Nintendo games, and don't want to (or can't, hey gaming is expensive, I get that!) open your wallet to other experiences.

It's obvious the Switch will not get a lot of the High end ports that both PS4 and XB1 share, it's just not powerful enough. Nintendo has decided this route, this is the path they want to traverse, it's upto you if you want to be a part of that experience.

I believe that Nintendo will get a lot of 3rd party support, it just might not come from the EA's of this world, because 3rd parties have become more than the $100mil budgets those larger publishers flaunt.

personally 80% of the time Nintendo first parties are what I'm after, but I have a PS4 for that 20% that I miss, mainly Square, and some other unique PS4 only games, but I can make that decision, and have no problem letting each console do its own unique thing.

Re: Early Stock Market Activity Suggests Switch Could Be A Bigger Hit Than The Wii

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'd expect some of this will be rectified during E3. It's clear that VC and their pay for online service, and everything else connected to the cloud, like save data, updated OS et all. TBH Nintendo doesn't need to wait for E3 and this should have all been sorted out before launch, but my feelings are that it's clearly not ready for prime time (or at least one significant piece isn't), and thus E3 is a great time to reveal all of this info.

I'll be extremely concerned if they don't address any of this by the time E3 has come and gone.

Re: Square Enix is Considering More Nintendo Switch Releases

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE 3DS has seen an incredible amount of Square franchises, the GBA had a pretty good Kingdom Hearts game (Chain of Memories) and 3DS had Dream Drop Distance.

to be fair, they're making more games regardless of region, which as of the Switch is moot since we can now play any game from anywhere, sure there is the boundary of language which for an RPG is probably insurmountable if you don't understand any Japanese.

Should they bring more to the west, yes! and if the portable Nintendo scene is any indication, it's where Square feels more comfortable (at least on Nintendo), considering the Switch is seen by many as a portable, this hopefully spells good news.

Re: Square Enix is Considering More Nintendo Switch Releases

RoomB31

We also know that the Dragon Quest Heroes pack should come to the west at some point (hopefully improving on the not so stellar performance, but doubtful) and the Secret of Mana trilogy

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I hardly think Dragon Quest is second string, but I understand your statement, essentially until we see a final final fantasy, everything else seems lower tiered and thus Square doesn't seem as willing. Games that might make the jump, the kingdom hearts bundles, world of final fantasy etc...

Re: Forget Scratched Screens And Joy-Con Problems, "Warp-Gate" Is The New Nintendo Switch Issue

RoomB31

I don't doubt that people have had genuine issues with the Switch, even if uncommon. The internet just allows for these things to flame out as if they were happening to everyone, they're not, but that doesn't mean Nintendo shouldn't at least look into them to see how possible/or even just HOW these things can happen in the real world, better to test than be silent on the issue.

Re: Video: See Sonic Forces At Its Best in Official Gameplay Footage

RoomB31

Sonic is Dead, long live Sonic.
I keep trying to love these games, but they're so chaotic and unfocused that I just can't, I just can't love the blue hedgehog. I've never been a HUGE Sonic fan, but there's always a want for him to be better. I have fond memories of Gamegear"ing" Sonic, and Sonic Rush for the DS, but that's about it. I even recently bought a copy of Sonic Colors for Wii, because true Sonic lovers were praising it as the best in recent times, but I still just can't!

I want to love you Sonic, but I just can't.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Has Started Well - Now the Real Challenge Begins

RoomB31

The Surprises I expect from Nintendo aren't really surprises as we know they're coming, but SMASH: ULTIMATE EDITION (or something like that) and Pikmin 4, those are clearly already in the Pipeline, and we might see them at e3, I'm not worried about what Nintendo will bring (retail), I'm not worried about quality eshop titles either (Nintendo and indies), I want to know about VC but not really worried about that either (it can't be worse than Wii U VC, soo....).

I'm only worried about 3rd party retail releases, and no I don't care if we get ports (I have a PS4 for that), we can and need have some GOOD ports, they can't be sloppy. If Skyrim is choppy then forget this type of game ever seeing release on Switch again, looking at dragon quest heroes doesn't instill confidence. What I'm referring to is Switch ready 3rd party games, Bomberman R is fine and a good start but shallow, so if we can get some good variety of 3rd party retail releases, then we're good to go

Re: Nintendo Switch Owners Will Have To Wait Longer And Pay More For RiME

RoomB31

UGH, really guys, you need to mention game length to justify your gripes? You really need to stop this.

Yeah it really does suck that it's going to cost more, especially for a digital version, and thats not cool because it reminds me of the Wii U launch when we got "new" versions of old games while paying out the nose for them.

If the game in general was "10 hour game costs $39.99" which you are essentially implying, and you had gripes with that, then that's just sad, because the merits of a game way outstrip it's length.

Re: World to the West to Begin Its Wii U Journey on 5th May

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Ugh, this is why I wish Wii U was region Free, you guys (UK/EU) received so many Wii U physical releases, Fast Racing Neo, ...Maiden of the Black Water, Teslagrad! I'm sure there are more, but I didn't even know Teslagrad received a physical release!
