Re: Nintendo Wants Everyone In Your House To Have Their Own Switch

RoomB31

I was holding out buying a second one until the system transfer happened, so it's only a matter of time now. And it only makes sense, our 3DS's are now 5+ years old, and there are a plethora of Switch games that I'll want to play solo. Although I love co-op with my husband, sometimes we just want to play different things...

Re: Review: Picross S (Switch eShop)

RoomB31

Would love a Picross 3D 3 for Switch, playing through 2 on 3DS and loving it. I loved the Zelda and Pokemon Picross games for 3DS as well, but this does look a bit bland. It doesn't have to be branded but a little more style, and thematics would go a long way.

Re: FIFA 18 on Nintendo Switch Accounts for a Tiny Percentage of UK Launch Sales

RoomB31

Either give people the same (minus the graphical flare) or do something different, that makes it stand out.. I know they keep saying "best portable version" "developed from the ground up" but it's not enough for most. I have zero interest in the sport, so it was never on my radar, but I have a PS4 as well, so the option for the full featured version is there had I wanted it.

Portability is not enough, for some games it makes the world of difference to be portable, others not so much.

Re: Pokkén Tournament DX and Nintendo Switch Lead the Way in Japan

@Angelic_Lapras_King I haven't been into fighting games since Killer Instinct on the SNES (one of my fav SNES games), I've played the Pokken demo and loved it, but I don't see much immersion with the genre. I don't think I've ever played a MvC game, but this doesn't seem like the one to start with. I'd love to get back into the genre, and I hear that Injustice 2 does a great job at story etc.. but the characters don't draw me ( not a DC guy).

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Handheld Gaming To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

RoomB31

@Clipo Agree, although the "real" adults still game on PS4/XBOX. The amount of time is limited, so for me the portability of Switch is nice, but not a game changer in terms of how much I play. But for those bigger games, RPG's and the like, I am more likely to finish or even start them on a machine that i can move around. So for me it's being able to access those genres (the long expansive journeys) that I will never touch on my PS4 (even though I want to). If Persona 5 were to come out on Switch, that would be game-changing for me.

Re: Sony Doesn't Consider Handheld Gaming To Be A "Huge Market Opportunity"

RoomB31

@Anti-Matter to each their own, but I think regardless of my preferences, Sony has had a really great 2017 gaming lineup, sure not all these games are for me, but they are in no way wavering under any pressure from Nintendo or Microsoft. So you can have your extreme Nintendo biases if you want, but to state such falsehoods is an extremely tiring fanboy-ism.

Re: Review: SteamWorld Dig 2 (Switch eShop)

RoomB31

@justin233 it's good (PAN-PAN), but it's very very short. Not a problem for me, I would have paid more even for its length, but for someone counting their pennies per hour just be warned. I don't ever think a game should ever be equated by cost to length of game, it's the value of quality time spent, never # of hours.

Re: Toys 'R' Us Seeks Bankruptcy Protection in North America

@Filth_Element I get it, but I shouldn't HAVE to shop around to have them price match, when every other retailer is selling it for $5 less.

I get the camaraderie as well, however the last time I was in EB one of the workers (I think the manager in fact) was arguing with a Nintendo Fan (a client) about how "terrible" the Switch was, and why would anyone pay $400 for a tablet etc.... on and on. Basically he was a big douche, and if chatting with employees results in fandom BS then I'd rather buy where I don't have to deal with anyone who thinks I'm making a "mistake" with my money, the mistake would be buying it from them. I've also had employees wonder why I was buying "THAT" game, because I want it, mind your own business.

It goes both ways, either they're genuinely nice, or they're an uber douche, too many times the latter, so I'd rather spend where I don't have to deal with it.

Re: Toys 'R' Us Seeks Bankruptcy Protection in North America

@SLIGEACH_EIRE agreed, most cities have better used game shops that sell for less (unless the game is rare). And even with new game shops, GAMESTOP (or EBGAMES over here) often sell new games for $5 more than bestbuy/Walmart/Amazon, I have no clue why people still buy from them.

Re: Toys 'R' Us Seeks Bankruptcy Protection in North America

I used to love to go in there as a kid. They never diversified enough or did any restructuring, and at least here in Canada, many things were pricier then their other brick-n-mortar competitors, games were just extremely pricey, especially older titles. $49.98 for Ninja Gaiden on Wii U WTF!!

Re: Review: NBA 2K18 (Switch)

RoomB31

@Anti-Matter why is that the solution to the drama? especially considering the major issue with this game currently is a software one. The file size debacle is a mess, but this won't be solved with chibi/cartoon design (see: NBA Playgrounds).

Re: Review: NBA 2K18 (Switch)

RoomB31

@BensonUii it's almost laughable that they call it a physical version considering how little is stored on the card. But yes lets hope they fix it before the physical release, and just add that patch to the sizable download.

Re: Review: Pokkén Tournament DX (Switch)

RoomB31

@SLIGEACH_EIRE but were they promised? Thinking/hoping something will happen, and being told it would happen are two different things. I never invested in the Wii U version because I felt the game was a lot for so little. I know the arcade version was getting new characters and I guess Wii U owners were hoping for those to come to Wii U (I mean why not), but I was never convinced that this would be the case (especially given the state of the Wii U in 2016, shallow breath and all).

Re: Review: Pokkén Tournament DX (Switch)

RoomB31

@NPC411 I hope they release more Wii U ports, I just want them to be worth it. You don't have to justify your reason not to re-purchase, this has been many a Wii U owner frustration, and I get it. But as a Wii U owner who loves the Switch, the benefits of the Switch being portable as well, it does change how I view these ports as being more than just a cash-grab by Nintendo, and many others agree. I wouldn't complain if they reduced the price of some of these ports, not all (especially Pokken) need to be a full priced re-release, but other may disagree.
