Re: Super Mario Run Notification Sign Ups Reach 20 Million

RoomB31

Sure more people can be good, but for mobile more people are NEEDED for a game to be profitable.

What we don't talk about here is development time/cost vs price of game, we should also talk about the fact that APPLE will take its 30% cut off any profits, so its one thing to say that more people will be active on a mobile platform, but its rather clear that you NEED more interest otherwise the game can't profit as much.

Re: Editorial: Reminiscing on Hoarding StreetPass Hits, and Why Any NX 'Portable' Should Keep Them Alive

RoomB31

Some sort of mobile streetpass mii app for smartphones would be awesome, yes I get the fact that it would take away the idea of carrying your system, but it doesn't have to be fully integrated into mobile, but more as a hotspot to allow you to collect data from other streetpassers that gets funneled back to your portable...

also on a side note talking about mobile apps, it would be great if Nintendo/pokemon co. would develop a pokemon training app, like the mini games in the main series, to train your 'mon in quick sessions when you don't have time to pull out your portable, this would also link back to BOX and the main games...

Re: Poll: Six Months On - How Do You Feel About My Nintendo?

RoomB31

It was cool at first, but it's been waay too focused on Miitomo and discounts, without anything unique really being offered. I'm sure as more mobile games get released by Nintendo (Mario Run, AC and Fire Emblem) MyNintendo may become more interesting, but in general the "rewards" lack any real want to try and get more coins, which is ultimately a failure.

Currently I dont really care that there is a really short window to redeem my points, because there really isn't anything to use them on.

Re: Review: Mario Party: Star Rush (3DS)

RoomB31

It's really hard to convey to people that 7 is a pretty good score. Inflated scores don't help and ruin expectations.

People were praising the Last of Us because the story was exceptional, and thus gave the game a 95, but many many people I talked to couldn't even get past the first few hours.

I tried twice until I finally decided that the story was the most important aspect, so I reduced the difficulty and basically played it for its story, but even on easy was still such a frustrating slog of a mess gameplay wise. The story was well done and its a beautiful game, but there's no way that those aspects should out weigh gameplay, it is after all, a game.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated Wii U and 3DS Games For the Rest of 2016?

RoomB31

Sure there aren't a lot of heavy hitters for Wii U, but we already knew this was it. It's sad that people can't see any enjoyment out of these, feel free to play other games (on other consoles, or older games) to fill your time, but being irritating gets you nowhere.

We already know no one has THAT much time to play everything they want (everyone talking about how huge their backlog is), but we also know that so much goes under the radar, things that we missed when we were playing that 120hour RPG, so look back and enjoy past gems, or hibernate I guess.

I played so many hidden gems this summer, it's actually nice when there are quiet times to actually discover all those smaller or niche titles.

NEW is nice, but this is why backlogs exist, so spend some time in the past, it's quite rewarding.

So many trolls on NintendoLife like to comment on opinion pieces/articles etc.. as being a slow news day, as if sites are soley there to regurgitate "new" information. These things add a little depth and are an aside to the random bits of information, and give us some insight to those who work at Nintendolife. I appreciate said opinions, interviews, polls, history etc... and hope Nintendolife staff continues to show us a little bit more into their interests,/personality, after all they are people too.

Re: Ubisoft CEO: "Nintendo Has Learned from the Wii U"

RoomB31

@Tlink7 Those problems don't happen at launch, you're better off waiting 2 or so years and then decide if there are enough games...

See the Wii U had something like 27 retail games at launch (in NA), and strong (if uninventive) 3rd part support. Don't get me wrong a lot of it was quick cash grabs, but the games were there... it wasn't until the next year or two where companies started pulling out one by one.

So Sure there need to be games to sell the NX but the NX also needs to sell for there to be games... catch 22... we can only wait and see.

Re: Nintendo NX Is "Fantastic" And "Something New", Says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot

RoomB31

This Guy...ugh... says whatever he needs to so that we believe that he believes. But it's BS, why? sure there is the first out to market new IP that he's claiming and that is mostly true, but the rest? Ports and cash grabs.

Also a survival horror game isn't exactly a riveting new type of game, sure certain mechanics were inventive, but saying much more is a stretch of the imagination. And look UBI already took the most interesting mechanic tossed it in the trash and released it as Zombii, soooo.

Just reiterating that Just Dance 2017 ( a dying brand these days, that still sells the most on the original Wii) will be out for NX reinforces the cash-grabbiness of Ubisoft, a port of a 6 month old game (about when the NX should launch, we'll assume it's a launch title).

Look its fine if Ubi Just wants to keep making sequels, something they are keen on doing, but don't pretend that your half-assed launch creations are gonna get you the recognition you think you deserve.

Yes Ubi will always talk up a new console, and will always be there first, it's the time when there are the least amount of options, and no style has solidified so there will always be room for sales.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th September (North America)

RoomB31

@holygeez03

While true, and that would be awesome, there are a lot of Wii games where that wouldn't make much sense, since you need wiimote motion controls to play. Smooth Moves is a prime example of why Gamepad only play would be useless.

Re: Video: Nintendo Releases Showcase Video for Paper Mario: Color Splash

RoomB31

@rjejr I'm not sure what no NX news has to do with the Wii U version of BotW, not directly anyways.

yes, the game has seen multiple delays, So has FFXV, so has the Last Guardian, but that doesn't make them any less likely to come out for their respective platforms. BotW in 2015 would not be the game it's setup to become now. maybe those aren't the best examples seeing as how they've been in development for eternities, but they were never playable, where as BotW has only be playable on Wii U.

I don't think BotW is a game with "lots of people on screen at once" and if that is the game you are looking for, I don't think the NX version will change your mind. Thus far it's about a solo quest for survival, this has even been stated by Nintendo, so I don't expect to see many many people on screen (ala Hyrule Warriors or any other action game).

Don't bet your house because you are right, Nintendo is unpredictable.

I'm not sure you should posit new Amiibo for guaranteeing the Wii U version, (which is weird anyways since you're apt to believe it is likely to be canned) because I'd think (those of us who like amiibo anyways) that Nintendo will continue with amiibo functionality in NX.

All I can say is we've seen enough to be convinced it's coming (for Wii U), at least some of us have. And like I said before there's a precedent for this exact thing, with a Zelda game no less, to release simultaneously on two consoles. They (consoles) are not the same, they are not competing, the Wii U is dead, Nintendo knows this, they knew it with the GC when they release Twilight Princess, so I don't see any reason to not recoup some of their expenses on a Wii U release.

Re: Video: Nintendo Releases Showcase Video for Paper Mario: Color Splash

RoomB31

@rjejr You actually think BotW could possibly be canned on Wii U??

Box Art, gameplay, never mind the thousands of hours of work that has gone into it (yaya I know it wouldn't be fully wasted), the Wii U's high profile last hurrah, to ultimately scrap it?

Also, we already have a precedent for this, it's called Twilight Princess, so BotW Wii U will definitely be released.
