@bolt05 it's a personal taste, I frankly still don't see many interesting titles for PS4 and almost 0 for Xbone, I will be getting a PS4 in the near future, but the point is, there is no killer app for me, not yet, some loyalists or "hardcore" may call blasphemy, but personally it's just not there for me. On the Flip side I have 25 games for Wii U and many eshop titles, I value my Wii U a lot. So we don't have the same opinion, doesn't make a console less valuable or useless to the right customer.
@InternetBowser it's doubtful considering the monetization isn't the same, fronting a larger sum on mobile doesn't sit well with most which is why microtransaction games do so well. I do agree that Mario is a strong IP than Pokemon, but I still don't think it will do as well.
@Sanangelo89 Agreed, but it was never meant to, it did what it set out to do, re-introduce people to Pokemon, and make some money at the same time, it was fun for a week, but I haven't gone back since, instead I finished Y (finally) and picked up OR, so for me it worked in getting me excited for the series again.
Full pay apps, while something I prefer to the free to play, or the in app purchases (coins etc...) are not as revenue generating, so I don't see this making as much money as pokemon go. It's east to spend a dollar in pokemon go, and to do it over and over again over a period of time, not knowing how much you ended up spending.
The caveat for a full pay game is to get people to upfront all the cash, (which might be $4.99?) since mobile has a reputation of "FREE" its tough to make significant profit from it. But we'll see, Mario is an extremely strong brand, so who knows.
@AhabSpampurse It's meant for casual gamers who know Mario but most likely don't have current Nintendo hardware.
The idea is that it offers a limited amount of game to make people want more and buys Nintendo hardware and software, kind of like how Pokemon Go has increased awareness to Pokemon and boosted sales of at least pokemon software...
Looking good!, love the little Pokemon Snap addition, not sure if it adds anything significant to the game, have to wait and see. Playing through ORAS right now, and actually liking it much more than XY, much faster paced, and the Dexnav pokefinder feature is awesome.
I wasn't super hyped when they announced this game, but it's growing quickly.
The N64 was in no short supply of racers. It looks like it still had a ton of work to be done, but I was quite happy with the quality of my N64 racers, RUSH, MK, DKR, BEETLE Adventure Racing, TOP GEAR RALLY, RR64, Fzero64, Excitebike, extreme G etc....
@hYdeks I don't think you can include Smash in the "ports"category since the 3DS version came out first, and was simultaneously developed.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE my Wii U (I have close to 30 retail games), but I knew it was dead even before E3.
There is so much Nintendo could do (ports, better VC, release eshop as physical, to extend its visibility at retail) but with the announcement of the NX, and Nintendo's stubbornness to not do any marketing or price cuts for the Wii U just means that they have almost ZERO resources focused on Wii U, and zero interest to grow its install base. They've crunched the numbers and its not financially sustainable to try and push console sales at this point.
These games are coming to 3DS because of their portability (without too much lost in translation), their marketability, and the fact that Nintendo see's the investment as one that will likely see decent returns, there are few likely future sales in the Wii U dept. for those games, and an untapped market on 3DS where they can flourish.
For people who were disappointed with no NX announcements, um I have no clue what you were smoking going in, but there was ZERO NX news to be had.
For those Disappointed with next to no Wii U news, I get it, but it was also stated by Nintendo that it was a 3DS DIRECT not a Wii U one. I actually think it would have been better for Nintendo not to mention the Wii U at all, because in the end it did more damage than good, sure it was nice to hear that Skyward Sword was coming to Wii U, but highlighting a port and showing little else just proves you have nothing to talk about and just enforces the death of the Wii U.
Uniracers!!!
Killer Instinct!!
Earthworm Jim!!
Kirby's Dream Course!!
TMNT: Turtles in Time.
Tetris Attack!!
Zombies Ate My Neighbours.... Just to name a few missing..
Yeah, releasing more games on NX doesn't redeem Nintendo in my eyes either. It will get them on a better footing for this new gen, but severely cuts into the current and near future use of my Wii U.
Like you I have also enjoyed my Wii U a great deal, but its because of that enjoyment that I feel disappointment in the lack of new quality Nintendo games.
@AVahne that's Kinda my point, since Nintendo decided to double book it, there really isn't any incentive to buy the Wii U version (not that we know of) unless you dont want an NX. Sure it's a nice Finally but will be overshadowed by the NX version.
@thehoppypoppy why wouldn't the 2DS work? if you are simply talking about connecting for use as a controller, well the 2DS can already do this with SMASH Wii U, so I don't see this as viable means to push NEW 3DS over 2DS (I think it just sells better), since they all seem to be usable in this way.
@Warruz Not sure what you mean? Only 3 games were demoed, all earlier titles sure but still sell well, but where are there sequels for these games that you are referring to?? This is a 3DS ad, not a Wii U one, so why would they talk about MK8 or 3DWorld?
@Frank90 One that's upto Nintendo not Shin'en, 2 - knowing how popular the FAST series has become, why would Shin'en want to develop a competing racer?
@rjejr I've never seen a system be laid out to pasture without a little last minute push. The saddest system ending in a long while. I'm still looking forward to Paper Mario & BotW, but that being said, there's a whole HOLIDAY with basically 0 games.
I've stopped playing, while it's still fun in short bursts, I'll probably only go back if there is a major update. BUT, it has gotten me to return the ACTUAL pokemon games, finally beat X/Y and I'll probably get ORAS now until we wait for SUMO. The hype is real, but I've moved it back to the mainline series.
It's probably a new IP, it's probably for NX, the inability to comment makes that clear. I'm still waiting for Shin'en & Nintendo to announce Fast Racing Neo physical in NA.
@Yasume who says the people at IGN and Destructoid are impartial? Point being, reviews are always going to be biased in some way or another, it's upto the individual consumer/gamer to decide if it's worth their time.
Frankly, I don't really care how people perceive it, for those who love it great, for those who don't that's fine, I've never cared for the series and this won't change my mind either way, but I think if you do love the series you should probably figure it out for yourself.
It's $74.99 CAD here, and that's just way too much for a fighting game, I loved the demo, but I'm waiting for the price to come down (hoepfully), also I would love to see more character announcements.
What Pokemon Go has accomplished (unrelated to the numbers) is make me go back to Y and finish it, which I did 3 days ago! woot! But I have barely touched GO in a few weeks, it's good and I like it but it can't hold my interest. So Nintendo's idea of bringing gamers back worked for me, and judging on the increase in Pokemon 3DS games sold I'd say its worked for a few.
grain of melted salt (salt water I guess), hot air, bs, nothing worth listening to. Basically, if they cared, or thought it was a good idea they would have signed on by now. So either they have something and are being super secret, or they are just fanning farts in the wind.
blah! stop writing articles about all this speculation, it's becoming rather asinine. Until someone comes forward, or Nintendo themselves comment, it's just click bait.
gotta love that the 3DS version is coming out later, I would have done the inverse to maximize sales potential (also because I want it sooner than later).
Awesome! Just need an NA date now!! But have been wanting Neo on disc, my calls have been answered!! We know why this is happening of course, as well as Shantae and Runbow, Nintendo needs to fill out retail, and other than Paper Mario there isn't much on the horizon.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE they did score when purchasing up the rights to those THQ games. Their history on Wii is shovelware city. It's a smart sell at the right time for Wii U only owners, who have little in terms of retail releases in the coming months, Just don't put it out at the same time as Paper Mario.
@Lzeon Absolutely, in terms of brand awareness. I was mainly referring to the point that in terms of who makes bank for GO itself, and for how many players exist on the project, Nintendo gets the smallest piece.
I got II with the Humble bundle, and finally started playing it. I had always been curious, and thus far it mostly doesn't disappoint. It's highlights are its upgradable components, it's Zelda/Prince of Persia action components. Loading can be annoying as it wants to be seemless but can interrupt the flow when entering new areas, but it's minor compared to the intense screen tearing.
I hear the original is better, so if I get through II I'll definitely check out the original.
I don't wanna say duh, but I did so... Nintendo may be associated with Pokemon because they have a stake in the companies that program and produce it, but their name isn't even on the software, this stock build-up was based on hype alone, Apple stands to make more money than Nintendo does on GO.
I do wonder what Go's impact will be on Sun & Moon. It would hvae also been smart to do 3DS/2DS pack-ins with either X/Y or Omega/Alpha, & reduce the price of those games.

@Anti-Matter Persona is not creating bad children. No "demons" are not warping their brains, you read waaaay too much into that.
Poor education, lack of stimulation, parental influence are more likely the causes of bad behaving children, not "demons"
