Upcoming free-to-play racer Disney Speedstorm has revealed a brand new character today and, given its choice, it looks like Disney thought Baloo needed a friend.
Mowgli — the young protagonist from the 1967 animated feature The Jungle Book — will join his big bear friend on the racetrack when the game hits Switch later this year.
The Gameloft-developed racer already has a pretty solid line-up of Disney and Pixar kart drivers ready to burn rubber, from Captain Jack Sparrow, Sulley, Mulan, Mickey Mouse, the Beast, and Elizabeth Swan, among others.
Sporting arcade-like racing and local and remote multiplayer, Gameloft is hoping to capitalise on Disney's popularity. Perhaps we'll be getting some Star Wars or Marvel characters?
Will you be picking up this kart racer? Let us know down below.

Will I be picking this up? As it is free, yes. It does look better than Chocobo GP and I did like that game despite it's obvious flaws. Glad I didn't purchase the full game though.
The people who made this actually know how to make a good racer sooo im more then willing to try it out.
I have complete faith in this title seeing as they also made Shrek Kart
Play for an eternity or spend those gems. Welcome to the new gaming generation!
@AndyC_MK111 I don't think they've revealed any of this info but surely it can't be as bad as Chocobo Racing's full price and microtransaction model...
Crash and Chocobo are kart racers with horrible manipulative monetisation. To be honest this doesn't look any different on the surface.
Oh yeah, totally forgot about this game XD
Don't see this taking of on the Switch with Mario Kart dominating the sales charts since it was released back in 2017.
I forsee chocobo level acceptance with this due to free to play model.
@Rob3008 Chocobo GP is technically not even a free to play game just offers a Lite version that is free if Chocobo GP was free to play you would be able to play all modes in it but in the Lite version you don't
"arcade-like" racing doesn't usually appeal to me, more of a kart person, but I have to think since it's Disney it won't be as realistic as say Gran Turismo so I'm up for giving it a try with my family. Though I gave Chocobo a try once, and only once, and that was enough to know it wasn't for me. But free, so we'll see.
Jungle Book has been on Disney's radar as of late, with the game been added as DLC for the Aladdin/Lion King collection and now two characters from the series included in Speedstorm.
I'm interested in this, but I don't really understand the aesthetics. I think it'd work better if they went for colourful, jolly Mario Kart-esque visuals instead of the slightly dreary realistic look they've gone for.
@C-Olimar Absolutely agree! It's also help characters like Elizabeth Swan be more recognisable, if she was in her outfit from the films and driving a pirate ship shaped car!
I don't really know why they did this art style, but it really misses the mark for me. And with seemingly no MK9 on the horizon this could have been ripe to fill that gap. But it is also a F2P games as a service model, so maybe if they get enough feedback they'll start adding characters that look like themselves and cars that have fun and bright designs.
This makes no sense at all a kid from a jungle in a high-tech machinery?
Also they look so slow driving, I hope Disney will make it look faster (or maybe it's that, I have to be in the mindset of my hands on the controller to feel the speed?) It currently looks like someone riding a baby Rollercoaster
This looks so much better than that chocobo gp **** of a game 😱 and it's free! Square Enix should be taking notes
Many red flags for me in this production. The latest being Mickey's ears not facing the camera at all times.
@Snatcher its Gameloft. They developed the Asphalt games where were racing games and those games were pretty highly rated.
Will Lightning McQueen be in this?
