The Super Mario range for LEGO has been coming on leaps and bounds over the past couple of years, with sets bringing in characters and items from classic Super Mario titles and Luigi's Mansion, alongside a brand new Peach's Castle expansion set to launch in August 2022.
If an online listing is to be believed, however, it seems a new 18+ Super Mario set is on its way. No details have been gleaned on what the set might entail, but after initial discovery of the listing a couple of months back, we do at least have a decent view on how much it will cost and how many LEGO pieces will be included.
At €229.99 with a total of 2807 pieces, the new product is set to be bigger than both the Nintendo Entertainment System set (2,064 pieces) and the Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block set (2646 pieces). What the new set will actually include is anyone's guess, however; perhaps a recreation of World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros.? Maybe a Super Nintendo Entertainment System set? Who knows!
A release date is currently set for October 1st, 2022, however it's entirely possible that this could be a placeholder date for the time being. If (or rather when) Nintendo and LEGO announce this new set, we'll be sure to update you on its firm release date.

18+? Mario After Dark?
18+? Is Mario finally getting nipples?
Does 18+ actually mean "Ages 18 and up", or does it have some other LEGO brand specific meaning?
I know that LEGO do make kits designed for older people due to being advanced.
In what possible way would a Mario LEGO set not be suitable for 17 year olds?
Is this content part of the OnlyFans account Mario is rumored to have started?
@RupeeClock Yeah the 18+ refers to the more prestige line of sets Lego makes. They're bigger, more expensive, have more difficult builds and come in the sleeker looking black design boxes. It's the acknowledgement of AFOLs (Adult Fans Of Lego)
Finally, it was only a matter of time till mario started with the NSFW content (:
Does the set come with a mini-Mario shaped piece? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@Euclidianboxes
Thanks, I feel like this is an important detail the article forgot to mention.
@DJP- : The all-ages set will come with a bra surgically attached to Mario's chest.
@PJOReilly @RupeeClock @DJP- @tanaka2687 lego age ratings reflect the build size and difficulty. 18+ usually means more technical builds (not the technic line) and a lot of frustrating pieces.
Who ever said Mario is for kids?! Maybe this is a hint at what the Mario movie will be like.
I'm really curious to see what this is! I'd love to see a Lego version of Rosalina's observatory, though I'd imagine that ship has probably sailed. Maybe it's something tied to Odyssey? I'm surprised they haven't done anything from that yet, at least to my knowledge.
That explains the movie delay, Nintendo is clearly waiting for the blowback over an 18+ XXX LEGO Mario set to die down.
Rumour says a big brick-built Bowser in the set. The release date of October will be for general retail, it should come to Lego stores and their website from July 1st.
@RupeeClock The age rating on Lego is based on the difficulty of the build. An 18+ set is more difficult to build than a 16+ set. So it's a set that is designed for someone who's 18+ to build.
And on the set, I do hope it's Peach Castle, similar to the Hogwarts & Disney castles
Once you’ve graduated high school, you can get this lego set
It's going to be a Mario Kart 64 set inspired by Nintendo Life's "Playing Nintendo 64 Online With Overseas Friends Could Be Horrifying" video
Sounds cool. Maybe after we finish our 6020-piece Hogwarts, this'll make its way in our home.
Please be SNES Please be SNES Please be SNES
18+ haha. Lego should have really called their “adult” sets something else. I’m not sure if it’s a western thing, but adult and 18+ has always meant pornography round these parts haha.
16 years of age. Old enough to drive a car? Yes.
Old enough to put together a 2807 piece Lego set? Hell no.
As someone who got the other two Adult Nintendo sets, I look forward to this one. They were the most creative and fun sets to build and play with.
Minifigure set please
@Gitface 16 y-o people would need to ask daddy for the money anyway. Those 18+ sets are more complex, more premium and way more expansive. You need an adult job to afford it by yourself.
Thought this was rumoured just a few weeks ago on NL? If memory serves me correct, it was rumoured that a SNES set was in development.
Very reasonable size and price after yesterday's magitek armour! :V
Rated M for Mario
I loved assembling the ? Block set earlier this year even if it was the most difficult build I've done. They send a brick remover for a reason! I thankfully only had to use it 3-4 times.
I'm very interested to see what this one features. I'm not a huge LEGO collector, but I do enjoy assembling builds on rare occasion.
@itslukec there is no nudity, porn or explicit theming in Lego. But 18+ have been there for a few years now.
I, for one, am a big fan of those 18+ styled sets. They are always a challenge to build, but in the end they are always worth it.
What's next after the Super Mario 64 and Luigi's Mansion sets? Isle Delfino? That'd be pretty cool.
Annnnd que the dirty jokes.
Bowsette finally gets her time in the spotlight!
I'm pretty sure it's gonna be something more intense, like one of those Expert Course sets, or it could be an Odyssey set, with a special set that gives Mario Cappy.
I thoroughly enjoyed the NES and ? Block sets, but I have no interest in the playable Mario/Luigi/Peach sets.
Sounds like a set comprised of a shirtless Chris Pratt figure to me.
At long last, Nintendo is releasing Super Hornio Bros and Super Hornio Bros II. In Lego form. Not exactly the platform we were all expecting, but beggars can't be choosers.
All 39 people before me just wrote different wordings of the same joke

18+... that's uhh... new...?
There's just... so many things I could say that I can't say.
Are you only allowed to pay for the Lego set with 1 dollar bills?
Perhaps a mario galaxy themed set? I suspect that would be complicated.
@OorWullie If they put 17+ then someone would ask the question about 16. They have to set a number somewhere (if they intend to target certain age groups). It's not the content, it's the difficulty etc. that they are implying is targeted at that group.
@Gitface When I see that you're able to drive a car at 16 in the US, I am amazed lol. That said, it isn't a law that you can't build the LEGO set.. just a suggested target audience =P
@RupeeClock It's about the level of challenge etc. that they are targeting with the set. The 18+ sets will generally be either more complicated, have a theme targeted to adults, or just be a lot of pieces - it differs. Not to say anyone can't build it, just that it's targeted to that audience.
@FTL Oh I know. I am just pointing out how silly the recommended age seems. 🙂
@abdias made a really good point in their comment though.
Mario has a gun
Mario finally gets high on all those shrooms he's been collecting
@Euclidianboxes I learned more with your comment than with the article.
Lego Bowsette
Maybe they'll recreate scenes from the Ron Jeremy Mario movie in Lego form
