@Anti-Matter Agreed on the illegal and non official part. An IP should be respected, unless it's for parody or whatever can get around copyrights, like news reporting.

However, I do believe GameFreaks is doing a fantastic job destroying the Pokémon brand themselves with extremely poor quality games, so I understand why they don't want fans to risk setting the bar higher. That would mean having to give half a sh*t when GF creates a game. Or not, since the fanbase is just not bothered by the low quality as long as it's called Pokémon.

@Not_Soos They are probably using it as a gateway drug, hoping mobile users will buy a Switch to discover real Mario games.

We can expect MK8DX Remaster as a Switch successor launch title. Unless it's backwards compatible, in which case I hope they won't crap the bed like Sony and their random paid upgrades for basically the same game, but slightly better looking and a lot more expensive.

I don't really care about co-op, but that's cool for other people. Wake me up when it gets a proper discount.

I see the SanDisk fans, but I can't say I had the same experience in the last 20 years. I've only had problems with SanDisk (from multiple shops). They don't last and all died in a couple of years, or a lot less (last time I tried SanDisk, it died in under a month in my android tablet when my Samsung card was still alive 5 years later).

I switched to Samsung and Kingston, and I've never had another problem. Some of them are still alive after over 10 years, when SanDisk never lasted more than 2.

The grass is super tall in my garden and I'm procrastinating. I'm definitely not going to do this chore virtually.

Also it feels like the kind of game that will be 95% off every other month, just to be part of the sales flooding the unusable eShop.

Still a few more studios to save. Hopefully they will all join the right group/holding/publisher so they can thrive.

The thing is, they will also have a massive layoff if Embracer goes down. Employees aren't the one who make those horrible decisions, so I can't even wish this group any harm. It must be so much easier not to be human like all those CEOs and investors.

I played version 1.2 when it got released on the switch. This will be like a brand new game to me.

That being said, his influence is palpable everywhere. From monsters with multiple transformations, to glowy powerups (Mario pretty much goes super Saiyan in Bowser's fury). Shonen often have heroes that come back much stronger when they got beaten up and almost died. Heroes that are dumb as rock, but really strong and have a bottomless pit for a stomach. I'm not even sure we'd have One piece, Naruto or many other mangas if it wasn't for him. Also Dragonball was probably what made manga and anime popular in the west.

Gollum and Kong skull island are the only games that deserve a GOTY award. I can't believe they aren't even mentioned in the article!

I'm ok with them learning how fun it is to murder a bunch of people, or enslave animals as long as you call them monsters, but I draw the line at card games or seeing half a nipple!

Going all in on piracy would let me drop physical games. If consoles drop physical games, I would only buy if it is hackable and I can download games for free.

It looks better than Pokémon games released on the Switch.

Can you also write an article about an imminent "Switch 2 Pro", another about Switch 3 delayed to 2033. I might be an insider, so you have to believe me!... I'm not, but I'm tired of those useless articles about so called delays of unannounced products.

Last month, I bought a new android sheikah slate (which are called tablet in our boring world) for 2/3 of the price of this overpriced useless piece of plastic. Also I'd rather upgrade my switch for an oled, or buy litteraly anything else but this.

It really sucks when a developer tries to scam people into buying their game using the name of a famous IP. Just like harvest moon and story of season. Because of this, I'd never support them.

@Savage_Joe Both fanbase rely so much on nostalgia, they ended up a bit brain damaged, but in a different way.

What I read: "More power means less optimisation for us, so more money made for much less spent on quality when we copy paste our games every year."

Rumour aside, this one is never coming to the current Switch. Hopefully it won't be cross gen and fully use some more powerful hardware.

I wonder if it's the publishers pulling the plug when they stop believing in a project, or the studio underestimating the scale of their game. Hopefully this layoff trend will stop sooner than later.

I guess cloning is still unethical. It would be a nice suggestion otherwise. A whole army of young Miyamoto would wreck most competitors.

Hopefully their single player games will keep performing like this forever, so they never think about joining the stupid GaaS trend.

The lore around Zelda games has always been an afterthought. I'm pretty sure they create that lore just to justify unexplained stuff after players question it.

It's just insane how Nintendo games are beloved on the Switch. I know it's almost a given for a Nintendo console, but there isn't any overly popular mediocre games on this list.

2023 will probably be TotK anyway.
And I'm glad DQ11 made it on this list.

It would only take one massive Pokémon release boycotting for GameFreaks to care enough to fix some of the problems. But that's never going to happen, so the quality will keep dropping until they care so little they'll just ship blank cartridges.

It would still be live if they called it "Lonk's done with his nap" and changed a few things in the game. But they just want to use that Nintendo game. Oh well... What's the next Nintendo DMCA story?

To no surprise of mine, TotK makes up for almost half of my playtime on Switch (I also have a PS5). That was one hell of a game and the most fun I've had playing in years.

This sucks. Hopefully Embracer will have the decency to sell them the TimeSplitters IP for cheap is they were to open a new studio.

That long and sad agony is finally over. I just wished it went out with a bang, so it wouldn't be remembered for the last few bad years.

They used to differentiate 2D and 3D Zelda and they coexisted perfectly. Why ditch the old all of a sudden just because they don't have 2 different consoles? They still throw up remakes on a regular basis, but can't think of a simpler, more cosy Zelda formula? Why not make a Link between world-esque sequel to ocarina, twilight princess or Wind waker?

What about gameplay? Is it really different from one game to another, or does it feel more like minor improvements?

Why do people buy the same game year after year just because the number on the title was changed? Is FIFA/EA FC that different from one year to the next (this is a real question, I don't know the difference and they all look identical to me)?

I don't see in which universe Nintendo would want to be associated with Fortnite, or any overly popular games like CoD, FIFA, etc.

Oh boy I can't wait for the spinoff "The legend of Demise" in which the protagonist is Groose.

Considering it took them 25 years to make an official timeline, they'll probably take another 15 years to create games/spin-offs that link (no pun intended) BOTW and totk to the rest of the timeline. The upcoming film might even be a part of it.

@Purgatorium What a great idea! Picture this: the sequel could be developed by the Dynasty warriors team and have a name like "Age of calamity". Also it would ignore everything that happens in BotW and have an ending that has nothing to do with the events mentioned in BotW with a last boss that looks like vegeta in DBZ. The story would be written by an 8 year old who has never played a Zelda in his life.

I loved the old ones, but children of mana and sword of mana were extremely bland and generic. I can't say I'm looking forward to a new entry unless they make something truly special, not just another one.

@arabiansanchez Lookup Gamespot's advanced combat videos for TOTK and BOTW on YouTube. They use some glitches in active combat. It's rather impressive and the explanations are well detailed

@arabiansanchez They do. Some insane glitches have been discovered by a community of players sharing every little glitch they found, understanding them, and combining them into something crazy.

@the_beaver This and many categories for video game awards are completely broken or make no sense. For example, you'll find games from giant publishers in the indie section.

@XiaoShao It was always called TRPG, for tactical, until square enix decided to call a game SRPG and people assumed it was the official name for the genre.

The same way some people now call souls clones "soulsborne". Or shmups instead of shoot'em ups. It doesn't make any sense, but reporters set these trends by repeating it over and over as if it was the official name.

In the future, try not to let tone deaf people rank songs.

In a hundred years, they might finally look like games released on a more powerful console than the 3DS.
