Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Playable Switch 2 Demo Appearing At Upcoming Events

RenanLK

As a long-time fan of Pokémon, I still have no interest in this game, and that has nothing to do with how poor Scarlet & Violet turned out to be on a technical level. As others have said, it’s like it has no soul. Legends Arceus was a spin-off but it felt unique and a step forward. I don’t get what ZA is going for.

I do hope those who want it have a chance to try the demo, though. It might be a good idea to check how well it is running.

Re: Hands On: Forget The Name, Square Enix's New Action RPG Is A Lovely HD-2D Take On SNES-Era Zelda

RenanLK

I really enjoyed the gameplay, not entirely sure about the graphics since I expect more for Switch 2 games and HD-2D is burned in my brain as Switch 1, but it’s beautiful as usual.

I hope they implement quality of life improvements, though. Going through menus to change equipment and skills instead of quick on-demand changes like Breath of the Wild or Assassin’s Creed feels dated. Also “Prioritize graphics” mode is broken, the frame rate is all over the place.

Re: Reaction: Switch 2 Needed A Partner Showcase With Pep; This Wasn't It

RenanLK

I’m playing a lot on my Switch 2, but honestly, I have zero games I want to purchase for Switch 2 in my wishlist right now. I was hopeful this Direct would show at least ports of games already launched in other systems or confirmation that any highly anticipated game is also coming to Switch 2. Unfortunately, my wishlist remains empty for now.

Granted, I have Switch 1 games yet in my wishlist so there is a lot to play, I just didn’t really need a Switch 2 for these.

Re: Hitman Developer Is Working On Switch 2 Performance Issues "Right Now"

RenanLK

They’re definitely using this as a test drive for 007. Hopefully it can be fixed, it’s in my buy later list.

Speaking of launch games, I wish Hogwarts Legacy devs also provided a patch for the overall lighting of the game - whenever it illuminates things properly the game looks gorgeous, especially in portable mode, but then more often than not the lighting is completely off.

Re: Poll: How Are Your Download Speeds On Switch 2?

RenanLK

It feels like old Windows downloads where it’s initially quite fast and after reaching a certain percentage it slows down to the point you wonder if it’s even making progress. Overall, it’s faster than Switch 1, though.

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

RenanLK

I’m very happy with my Switch 2! Between Cyberpunk, Mario Kart World, replaying my favorite games from Switch 1 and retro games from N64 and GCN, I’m strongly inclined to consider it my primary console, which is a first for a Nintendo console.

All it takes is for Capcom to announce Resident Evil Requiem for Switch 2, then I’m sold.

Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"

RenanLK

I appreciate their review, but it’s a very positive thing that most of their criticism is not noticeable by casual players. Also, I completely disagree with their take on virtual cards being worse than primary/secondary accounts - clearly he is talking about one person with multiple consoles, not a family with kids. Virtual cards aren’t perfect, but they’re a lot better for families.

Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"

RenanLK

Measuring 3rd party sales less than 1mo since launch is just pure juice of capitalism. I really want to get Cyberpunk and Street Fighter 6, but can’t justify spending on a new console and multiple launch games, I guess others are in a similar situation. I’m also considering Hogwarts Legacy, but NL didn’t review it yet.

Analysts should wait longer before jumping to premature conclusions. I can already hear them doubling down on these statements next month as everyone buys DK Bananza instead of 3rd parties.

Re: Best Mario Kart Games Of All Time

RenanLK

I know this is user-based, but it makes absolutely no sense. GameCube didn’t sell well at all, which means not a lot of people played Double Dash, no way it should be higher than World.

Also, given how iterative Mario Kart has been since its first game, every sequel should be higher ranked than its predecessor. World is Mario Kart at its finest, easy #1.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Kart World

RenanLK

Something I feel hasn’t been mentioned properly is how the difficulty went up with much better AI and also that the items were better balanced. MK World’s free roam has potential but needs updates, everything else though makes it the very best Mario Kart so far.

Knockout Tour online is so perfect!! It’s like an interactive real-time version of that Hanna Barbera racing cartoon, pure chaos and fun!

Re: Nintendo Predicted To Become "Primary Partner For Third-Party Game Publishers"

RenanLK

It’s a bold claim but I agree that Nintendo will likely receive way more 3rd party games on Switch 2. It’s their first “stable” upgrade in a while with the potential to migrate most if not all Switch 1 owners over time. And as others said, the increasing cost of AAA game development means 3rd party wants their games everywhere for increased sales.

With Microsoft nearly out of the hardware business and GTA 6 being the first convincing next-gen game for PS5, relying on PS6 exclusively for AAA sales might not be the best idea.

Also, I have a PS5 but I’m not planning to get the inevitable PS6 since I don’t think Sony delivered enough value yet for me. It just feels like a high-end PS4 to be honest, not enough new experiences to justify another console.

Re: Xenoblade Dev Monolith Soft Is On The Hunt For New 2D And 3D Designers

RenanLK

I finished Xenoblade Chronicles 1 on Switch recently, great game! Recently started XC2 and the evolution between the games in terms of animation, graphics, battle system and storytelling is amazing!

To me, they’re the perfect replacement for Square Enix when it comes to RPGs on Nintendo consoles. I can’t wait to see what they’re making for Switch 2.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed

RenanLK

Please keep in mind this is 1.0.0, Nintendo is likely to optimize a lot of its system resources over time as it understands developer needs, improve its own system software and possibly iterate on GameChat features.

I'm curious about how it fares against Xbox Series S and mobile hardware like iPhones and M-series Macbooks that also use ARM architecture.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited At All For Switch 2 GameChat?

RenanLK

I can totally see kids making good use of it - which they should honestly have put in the commercials. Adults playing different games together with online chat? No way, that just won't happen. If it can be used as a channel for private sessions like a Mario Kart tournament from NL, that would be cool, but with real-life friends? Can't see that happening.

Re: Feature: The Long & Rainbow Road To 'Mario Kart World', From SNES To Switch 2

RenanLK

It’s funny that Mario Kart is a series that always looks like an early generation game. Super Mario Kart was amazing back then with its 3D visuals on SNES, but most popular SNES games look better. MK64 brought the series to real 3D but the character sprites look awful, again you can find far better graphics in most popular N64 games. The trend goes on with each new entry, even now with MK World - I’m so excited about it for many reasons, but it looks like a Switch “Pro” game more than a game taking full advantage of Switch 2 hardware.

It’s still an amazing series, though, and I can’t wait for the NL Cups we’ll be able to set up in the coming months.
