It’s a really good and interesting game! Animations are as good as you would expect from RE Engine, which is insane to see on a Nintendo console. Resolution in portable mode is blurry, in action it’s not very noticeable, but when you’re exploring and there is something like a chest in the distance it gets really blurry - 3DS levels of blurry IMO. So overall it’s a great looking game with excellent performance but image quality could be better.
Funny that they said shadow quality on Switch 2 is better than Series S since they’re pretty bad on Switch 2. I guess it’s rock bottom for Series S.
Funny fact #2: At one point in his comparisons, Switch 2’s DLSS resolves the red beams better than even PS5 in quality mode. Nvidia tech is really quite something!
This is awesome! Excellent way to give us a different perspective on the games. If the zombies are anything like that in terms of personality, it’s going to be tough to kill them.
Already preordered the 3-in-1 Generation Pack. Let’s see how good it feels on Switch 2! Hopefully I won’t need to double dip on PS5 for a quality experience.
I’m playing it on Switch 2 and it’s an amazing port! The only problem is some very low-res textures here and there, but that’s an issue with the game on all platforms so I’m not complaining. Performance is very stable and overall visuals are spectacular, especially particle effects.
It seems we have a trend almost every new big release where the new game is the best-looking game on Switch 2 thus far. Yet we still didn’t drop the impossible port expression.
This game looks really good on trailers and gameplay captures! Regarding the resolutions mentioned, though, it probably looks odd on a 4k TV when it reaches 700s range.
As a software developer, I can confidently say that this is not a gaming industry problem - I’m yet to see a single project achieve its original planned deadline and estimatives after years in the industry. Something always needs to be cut if you’re forced to meet the deadline, and more often than not what happens is that teams work overtime only to not meet the goals and then face a delay that allows them to complete the scope but with low morale and burnout feelings. It sucks, and it’s definitely the worst part of the industry aside from training-AI-to-replace-human-job fears.
Yay, another Nintendo game updated with Brazilian Portuguese! They should really do Animal Crossing next, it’s the only thing holding the game back here.
@sevex Exactly what I thought. Also it’s part of the branding. Switch 2 sells a premium design idea for now, solid colors look more childish than the black with accents of their proposal so far.
Looking forward to replaying FF7R on Switch 2! It’s a great game, not quite as good as FFXV (which would be my most wanted but unlikely port), but still very good. And it’s perfect for handheld gaming.
Also curious to see if Nintendo Latam will take the opportunity to translate Animal Crossing to Brazilian Portuguese. So far nothing was announced but pretty much all games for Switch 2 are being localized, and Animal Crossing would be an instant hit here if the language barrier was removed.
At least 4 games I really want in the next two months. We’re really having a great first year with Switch 2. Plus I should probably try Yakuza at some point, they seem to be quite good games, I’m only afraid they may take way too long to beat.
Well, in software development several companies that shall not be named are tracking usage of AI and demanding employees to reach at least X percentage. Essentially we either use AI or join the ready-for-layoff queue.
If it’s really Sherry, I wonder how will they reintroduce the character. RE6 is quite old and it’s not a good game to say the least, lots of players likely skipped it.
I wish they would bring Claire back, she was a cool character in RE2.
I see Japanese companies have been increasing their focus on Latin America since US tariffs. Of course US is still a big market for them, but it’s great that they’re expanding their business to not rely on a single market.
We went the entirety of Switch 1 gen without many games in Brazilian Portuguese, now we had launch year games translated, to mention Nintendo only (DK Bananza, Metroid Prime 4, MK World, Zelda S2 Editions). DK even had Pauline speaking Brazilian Portuguese!
I hope it doesn’t go too far into action in Leon’s sequences. After all, RE4R did strike a good balance between action and survival horror (leaning more towards action as expected given the original game).
Probably Star Wars Outlaws will be #1 for me, followed by either AC Shadows or DK Bananza. 2025 has been amazing for gaming on Nintendo. I can’t wait for the surprises of 2026.
Although I already know that I’ll spend quite some in RE Requiem early in the year.
I agree with the overall sentiment in the comments, new villains for each entry is much better than an overarching villain for Resident Evil. Each of them has been pretty awesome in isolation as we discovered things playing the games. This is a series about mystery and suspense, overarching villains are definitely better at epic stories instead.
I believe I played around 10-15 hours, with a long session last night. The only crash I experienced was when I suspended the game in a random moment and then docked it the next day or something like that. As soon as it loaded in TV it crashed. But that’s it.
Too bad for those facing multiple crashes. I hope Ubisoft fixes this. My hope is that they improve the overall visuals of the game with cuts that make more sense like Star Wars Outlaws did, currently it’s kinda like Alex said - when the light hits right it’s gorgeous but when it doesn’t…
Since launch I got Mario Kart World, Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk, Donkey Kong Bananza, Silksong, Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Metroid Prime 4.
I have played a bit almost everyday since launch and I already have a backlog, not to mention all the Switch 1 games I didn’t play or replay yet.
It’s an extraordinary console. My only concern is how long 3rd parties will support with latest games since this is the first Nintendo console in a while to get relevant 3rd party support since day 1.
This is huge news! How is Netflix going to handle HBO if the deal is accepted? I imagine they would shut it down in favor of offering all content in Netflix which is a big plus for the platform since Netflix infra is a lot better. At the same time, this much content would likely require a price increase…
As for gaming division, I don’t really see them changing anything about it. It’s more of a bonus than the actual reason for this offer, I imagine. For us, diversifying the revenue with games could help hold the price of Netflix sub.
@Phelaidar I don’t think so. A port of a game created for higher-end devices has to cut things down because it never had a Switch 2 profile in the first place, which is not the same as saying the Switch 2 can’t do X or Y. And like even DF acknowledges, many cuts for Switch 2 version are inherited from Series S version and not specifically a fault of the hardware.
I would say Nintendo is going to show us over the years the actual limit of the hardware, particularly with Zelda and Xenoblade. Also 3rd party games that have a Switch 2 profile during development will likely produce better results with less cuts and more adaptations instead.
The one limit I believe is quite clear as of now between Nintendo and 3rd party games is shadow quality which is very low across the board for some reason.
@fenlix That’s the internal resolution, DLSS is applied on top of that and what we get is a much better image than the resolution implies. It’s a very different situation to Switch 1 where lower res was displayed as such.
@kal_el_07241 It’s an expression that became popular during Switch 1 generation, but it doesn’t really apply to Switch 2 yet since we’re far from the limit of the hardware. Still, it’s used for pretty much any heavy 3rd party game running properly on a Nintendo device for some reason.
Normal first then hard replay is the way to go for Metroid games. I lost count of how many times I completed Dread at this point, such a good game!
Metroid Prime Remastered is also excellent, although it took a bit longer for me to understand it since it looks like an FPS but is absolutely not an FPS game in its design.
I assume this list is user ranked, because it makes absolutely no sense. As for Tomb Raider (2013), it is the very best in the franchise considering the ones available right now. Too bad the Switch 2 port is the worst way to play the game, even the PS3 edition is better in several ways (I still got the Switch 2 port, mind you, which says a lot about how awesome the actual game is).
Excellent game, but lazy port for Switch 2. I still hope that Aspyr improves lighting at least.
For those asking, this is definitely NOT the PS4 version, but it’s also not the PS3 version either. It feels like they created a custom port for Switch 1 and upscaled for Switch 2.
I had one for Switch and despite the storage increase on Switch 2, I knew I would need one so I bought a 256GB card day one.
It’s enough for me for now. I can wait a couple years for price decreases on larger capacity MicroSD Express cards. It’s likely that Samsung and other companies will increase production with the higher demand.
It’s a brilliant game and at this price I bought it to play once again. It’s a great portable experience. However, as others noted, it’s nowhere near what Switch 2 could do - hopefully Aspyr patches it with improved lightning and visuals overall to match PS4 definitive edition.
@mackers84 It does. The games perform better but look worse because it outputs 1080p at most in a 4k signal. Even the splash screen when you boot a game looks blurry now compared to playing Switch 1 docked.
All games I tried worked perfectly, however they look worse in both docked and portable modes. I guess it was better to output lower res to the TV and then let it upscale…
My enhancement wish is for Nintendo to automatically apply AI upscaling for Switch 1 games. That would do wonders to the visuals of most games.
I’m very happy with mine, and I know quite a few people from work that have one too. In fact, playing NS2 on lunch breaks convinced another coworker to get his own.
This is the first Nintendo system in a long time that makes me excited for 3rd party games! And we don’t even know much about the roadmap of 1st party yet.
There “fans” are a bit questionable, though… Lady D is iconic and the actress is amazing, that Road to Requiem video is really nice.
Jill and Chris are as much the face of Resident Evil today as zombies. If you haven’t played the old games, they simply don’t matter much. Yeah, Chris shows up in Ethan’s saga, but Lady D has a much higher impact that Chris, for example. And in modern day the only opportunity most people had to meet Jill is RE3 Remake.
I would say Leon, Umbrella and the newer villains from RE7 and Village are far more recognizable.
On one side, I’m happy that we’re getting another Switch 2 Edition (and honestly I wish we had more), but at the same time I’m sad that a new Animal Crossing will likely take a few years yet given the timing of this release.

Re: PSA: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Is Surprisingly Cheap On The UK eShop Right Now
It’s awesome that For the First Time in Forever 🎶 we’re likely getting sequels with up to a year of interval between them all.
I miss this about the old days of gaming. Shorter games with shorter development periods.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct February Partner Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
@Friendly Thank you! It’s essentially Kingdom Hearts: Final Fantasy Edition, what is not to like? Hehe
It also helps that I played it way after the whole drama around it. 😁
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct February Partner Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
Extremely unlikely, but I would love to see Final Fantasy XV on Switch 2. It’s my favorite entry in the series.
Less likely but possible - Kingdom Hearts Complete Edition 3.14159 Pi Portable Some-latin-word.

Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games & Accessories For February & March 2026
Finally a new Resident Evil! FF7 Remake should keep me busy until then.
I tried DQ7 Reimagined demo but not sure about this one. Also looking forward to a review for Monster Hunter Stories.

Re: Resident Evil Requiem Is Getting A Themed MicroSD Express Card
@LazyDaisy Wow, that’s impressive! Capcom does have a good track record with compression then.
Re: Resident Evil Requiem Is Getting A Themed MicroSD Express Card
Only 30GB? Either Capcom pulled an insane compression algorithm or the cuts are gonna be deeper than shown in the trailers...

I’ll get the upgrade path eventually when I feel like replaying Wonder. For now I’m good, same approach I’m taking with other Switch 2 upgrades.
