Re: Switch 2 Filings Show Support For Wi-Fi 6

RenanLK

Lots of people don’t bother buying a separate router with support for new Wi-Fi technology and many routers given by ISPs still don’t support Wi-Fi 6, so it’s totally understandable to not invest in 7.

Re: Monster Hunter: Wilds Tech Analysis Has Us Concerned About A Switch 2 Port

RenanLK

Capcom engineers are some of the best in the industry. If they feel like porting to Switch 2, it will happen and look amazing, just look at what they managed to achieve with MH Rise on Switch. Now if it's a good commercial idea for them, that's the question. They could opt to release a brand new MH on Switch 2 instead given their huge fanbase on Nintendo platforms.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Actually Get Excited For Pokémon Day This Year?

RenanLK

I watched it once, and it is indeed quite boring. Thankfully, Nintendo Life takes a hit for the team and then summarizes what matters!

I don't expect any new meaningful games besides Legends Z-A to make an appearance. Perhaps some odd spin-off or something. Nintendo wants to keep us waiting until April to know the big games for Switch 2 (likely to include some new gen Pokémon).

Re: Mailbox: Switch 2 Caution, Unpopular Opinions, Easy Games - Nintendo Life Letters

RenanLK

Switch 2 is exactly what I wanted it to be, not sure why so many who enjoyed the Switch are disappointed. Innovation doesn’t require a crazy hardware idea.

Also loved that someone mentioned Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I tried the demo when it was released and didn’t really like it, then I got the game recently because I missed Kirby and it’s so much fun, best Kirby game I’ve played! That demo didn’t do it justice.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

RenanLK

It’s all about games. Switch continues to be an amazing console, but it’s tough to put great games on it now given the aging technology. Switch 2 fixes that. Like you said, it worked for PlayStation, I don’t ser why it wouldn’t work for Nintendo - plus if it does work there is a high chance they won’t need a completely new idea over Switch 3 next time.

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?

RenanLK

Don’t know about you, guys, but I keep refreshing Nintendo Life page multiple times a day to see if Nintendo said anything. It’s exciting and frustrating all at once.

As for the size, it doesn’t really matter. The weight and shape are far more important to be used as a handheld. As amazing as Switch is, it is the worst form factor for a Nintendo handheld that I’ve played - it hurts my wrist after a while. I wish they fixed it for Switch 2 with a better shape to hold like the PS5 controller.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time For HD-2D To Take A Break?

RenanLK

Well, let me put it this way, Triangle Strategy is a brilliant game that I loved to play multiple times, BUT the art style was a really bad choice for a such a story-driven game. HD-2D simply couldn’t translate what was going on with the depth needed plus it got really boring to watch the long cutscenes after a while.

In other words, HD-2D is beautiful yet it IS NOT a silver bullet for old-style games, the same way the hyper-realism should not be the default for AAA games. Studios should try different art styles to figure out what works best for each game.

Re: UK Charts: Mario & Luigi: Brothership Drops Anchor Outside The Top Ten

RenanLK

It’s really impressive how Nintendo manages to create so many successful games that sell throughout the entire gen without the “live service games or nothing” mindset that every major publisher seems to be into these days.

I wish Sony attempted to mimic Nintendo on this. So annoying that the follow-up to the amazing PS4 gen has been this race for the next Fortnite.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Museum Might Be Emulating SNES Games On Windows PC

RenanLK

Well, they have to test their games on computers first, right? Very unlikely that each build is actually run in the consoles to validate changes. So it could be an open-source emulator, could be a proprietary emulator and it could be the same software they use to test builds without publishing to a console.

Whatever the case may be, it’s their product, so as others said Nintendo can do what it wants to do.

Re: Catch-Up Crew: Donkey Kong Country - "I Liked His Big Red, Er, Ribbit-Bag?"

RenanLK

My first videogame was an SNES. I remember my father showing up at lunch time in 1999 with the SNES box and 3 games - Mario World, DKC3 and Kirby Superstar. Amazing games and such a good memory. I played DKC2 next (which is still my favorite) and only got DKC later. Honestly, DKC is a little rough, beautiful and amazing for its time yes, but Rare nailed it on DKC2.
