@PlywoodStick I am on 9.2 and I was able to get back all my old e-shops purchases on the emulated 10.5 system of the same console. No need to download pirate copies to have/play e-shop things on an old console
edit: sorry, I did not see the later messages. Well, I did it to four consoles and none was injured. There is probably no risk involved with this.
@zaemon If you "mod" a console and get Region Free, then original dub would be cheaper to have by downloading a data pack with the original audio (applied on-the-fly to your western cartridge/e-shop game. I do that with Level-5 products and Tales of the Abyss.
About the name changes, they don't make sense like pkmn: is replacing Arthur with John better for understanding? o_o The hero default name should also have kept his meaning, using a more adequate english/european name. That's all.
@DatFunkySmell There has been a translation of the director, a producer and another staff member. Available on reddit, I think.
About the "blatant racism caricatures" of Bravely... you are going a bit far. What about some hats/costumes we can see for classes in Square games, who come from taoism, christianism , etc... ? -_-
@zool You mean the legal sexual consent minimum age. It is indeed 13 in Japan.
@TromaDogg @stocko I suppose I will import the game if it is not too expensive then, not gonna link a game with a console (SMTIV was my last error). Those manners are quite annoying... SMTIV and Code of Princess were already exclusive like that, and back then, I did not know I could play them on my european console.
@Shepdawg1
@stocko I had the same wish, but sadly... " This product is not yet available. The game will be released on Q1 2016 only on Nintendo eShop. " (marvelous europe)
Any american can say if there is a cartridge planned there?
edit: funny thing, they dare classify it as a "retail download".
I will certainly but Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. I jumped on the news for a 15€ Mario Land 3D who is 45€ in supermarket currently -_-, but it is sadly the WiiU version.
I might get Ocarina 3D too just as homebrew/region free assurance if it still works with this reprint. I still have my grey cartridge after all. ^^
I was not expecting Wii games reprints. o_o Is noone more surprised?
Could anyone confirm the european release features the original japanese voices and BGM? I suppose the opening lost the song, thznks to the potential rights problem (like the first one).
I was hoping this review would enlighten me about the content of the various item packs and more importantly the special mode available for purchase. Did anyone try smthng ?
PS: is there a little "poster" included like with the first game?
"The problem is that people call outfit changes, adjusted dialogue and design tweaks 'censorship'"
I will take an example from my country, France being infamous for TV censorship until the 1990s. (there had to be a law to prevent it, I think o_o )
During the 80s, there was a US soap opera called "The Young and the Restless" on our first national channel. Some character was homosexual, there was a meeting where others were talking about him with an aggravated expression on the face and would not say it out loud. Suddenly, one of them shouts "Let's say it! Xxx is gay! He's gay!".
Now, let's check what the french public heard: "Let's say it! Xxx is ill ! He is ill !".
From the localizers perspective, it was just an adjustement based on what the public would understand/tolerate. I think it was an act of censorship, an adjustement can be made by choosing the vocabulary but not by changing the objective meaning of the phrase.
Also, about the pictural censorship, we are experts too. Japanese animations (even some Hanna-Barberah or Looney Tunes shows) were heavily edited. But that was for the sake of localization, ouf! For a better acceptance/reception/understanding, Ranma 1/2 had several bath scenes cut, there were some pasted things on some characters in order to cover them, ... Of course, script was also heavily edited for our happinness: "sake" could have been translated to "alcohol" but became "apple juice", "stalker" = regular "fan", "to hate" = " ø ", ...
After my youth was full of those experiences, I have a problem with the fact someone can a-posteriori modify the content of a cultural product.
Note: as always, I want to notice that I am not interested about the rubbing function, my only personal problems with this game are the name changing (most were "european med.fantasy" enough, Kamui should have been adapted to keep its meaning...) and the dialogue changes (bevause, obviously, there are a lot of them to soften the script, not only the advertised one).
@TheJackal @TingLz But if the petition grows enough, they might give it some credit for the next installment (if such thing happens) in case more people would buy it. I personally would love to follow a game story where all the characters wear their intended name. (at least that)
PS: the petition asking Bandai to release the 3DS Digimon World was noticed, that's why they decided to give a try and localized their most recent Vita game (as a PS4 port).
@FierceRagnar Glad to read I am not the only one who liked the first character-designs style (FC/SFC era) and the next one (GBA).
I was not fond of the DS remakes redesigns from Shirow of Dominion/GitS fame. And this mangaka who works on FE since Awakening delivers characters who are too "modern" (for a medieval fantasy).
Note: but I like what he drew for Bubuki Buranki (a CGI anime who started last month)
@Ryu_Niiyama I never saw this news, where did you read it?
"expanding the "Kids and Female demographics" for the systems." ?! Can I hope to see western releases for the next Yokai Watch, the final episode of the Inazuma series, and the two LBX? _
Super Mario Maker was by far one of the games the most advertised I saw (in France) in the last few months, along the last Metal Gear.
Why not include previous releases:
The Splatoon ads kept going on from release to christmas.
Also, a 3DS (not-really-a)game was shown every day on a lot of main TV channels during november and december. Is this bad advertising?
I can't understand how those games can be seen as poorly advertised, did I miss the meaning of this top ?
PS: I forgot MH4U (so much TV ads and Internet videos all year long, and some articles were still written between september and december).
I hope we will soon get the EU pre-orders, this FE new style of setting and approach hooked me. About the removals: I found some of the things pretty stupid/lame but they should haveall been spared. First, they change namez then they change dialogues then they remove parts of the game (even how futile it can be)... We are in the 2010's, the time of heavy "westernization" pasted long ago, never should we bear such doings! "the game turned out to be arguably the best in the series yet" A bit too much if this is is a refined Awakening. (still not finished, it seems okay without never being great) I am still leaning towards the second SFC title as my favourite and this was the reason I purchased the first 3DS one as sooon as someone told me there was a generations system but at the time I ignored the bad scenaristic hop who introduced the system, the battle scenes who were ugly (compared to what I had been used to in the past 2D games, now we will finally get good BG ^^), the character-design (very nice, but at the same time so far away from the old ones), AND the maps who seemed so common (where were the epic maps of "Genealogy"? I was expecting more based on the 3DS power)
the "dlc" quests are stored on the SD card (understandable)
your stock of Guild Quests is stored on the SD card (ok...)
the pre-settings you can register for the bag and your suit are stored on the SD card (great, very practical when you want to play on another console, since it is coded)
@invictus4000 I understand you: this is the kind of game I prefer. But those hunting games are not RPGs, they are action games with morebor less RPG elements. Until this year, I was hoping for a FFVI 3DS (like FfIV DS) but seeing how Square is releasing their stock of japanese games in the West, I just gave up. (still happy to get the Draque and Bravely).
@spurgeonryan The problem of the game is that it becomes repetitive after a shorter time than MH due to the lack of new concept. So see it as a 7.5-8/10 if you never played MH. Who knows, maybe it will even push you to try MH4U.
@Chaoz It is ideal as a start to this genre because you are not overwhelmed in new concepts of gameplay. See it as a step to enter in the Monster Hunter series: if you like it (and maybe do not enjoy it long enough), upgrade your experience with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. @CharlieSmile Are you a visitor from the Future, sir? ^^
Am I the only one missing what made Super Mario Kart such a great game? I never could accept the way the roads became larger and larger until the Wii. (in fact, I did not bother trying any (3)DS version)
@astros75 If this one's sales are good, they might consider the release of the second compilation card.
About Puyo², I am interested but I would prefer to import the "budget" edition of the Puyo x Tetris cross-over. (or better: why don't they release it abroad ^^¨)

Also surprised that I am the only one pointing that out, while everyone talks about the "horrible" lack of images per second etc... Particularly since I don't notice any thing about it that would change the game accordingly to the 3DS version.
@SanderEvers @Iwadezelda3dsxl
I was pretty happy with the Region-free option and the HANS patching (using it for Level-5 japanese audio tracks). But after I lost my console, I had to rely on piracy (emulated nands etc) to have this on the more recent console I bought simply because I could not use the old Youtube and Ironfall to install/start the unauthorized code.
I did not ask for that, it gives me a lot of games to play without paying but if I had wished for it, I would have bought a new system earlier.
PS: I still have no game's CIA, the only things I downloaad are some uncompressed files of some RPGs
@King_Johobo FFIV has a story who was engaging at its time but could seem archetypal now. (I still enjoyed it after FF VII and VIII thanks to its medieval setting and characters) The sprites have not aged well so I advise you to prefer the DS release. You shall be warned that it is a classic japanese RPG with time gauges in battle.
The V has a good "jobs" system but I found the story boring despite some funny characters. It is also easier. The VI, well, is not praised for nothing. The 16bits graphics are still very nice and this is where the sci-fi elements started to massively grow (but it still keeps a medieval-ish side)

The 3DS will have a good year in the occidental world but it seems MHX, GS6 and SMT4F will be the latest big release on it for Japan. I am happy to see all those games coming to us but can't really see this Monster Hunter game, the Yokai Watch follow-ups, the historical Gyakuten Saiban and the future 6th episode, the new Shin Megaten and the last Danball and Inazuma reaching us... Quite sad about Inazuma (as it was the grand finale of the series) and Yokai Watch/Danball Senki since we will only get the "prototype" of those series. I hope they are compatible with patches on the fly and will be translated by some amateurs. (it seems only MHX is currently interesting for some people)
@RantingThespian Is the Prime series part of those real Metroid games? (I see them as another thing)
@Frank90 For that, you have "Pocket Monsters Special". It is not connected to the Pkmn Company, but I am happy France get finally its edition of the Gold / Silver series of Pkmn Special this year!
Pixel-Sonic, Comicbook-Sonic and Sonic Boom-Sonic... "Modern-Sonic" seems to incarnate the post Dreamcast style we have seen in all the 3D games since. So, where is the "Adventure" style 3D Sonic? (the best design it has ever received)
The first months of this year are too crowded. Especially knowing the price of the full FE set. PXZ2 can wait, hopefully it will end up reaching the low retail price its predecessor had.
Priority list:
the Fire Emblem If pack,
The Legend of Legacy,
Bravely Second,
Hyrule Warriors (deluxe pack would be nice but isn't worth the price)
Stella Glow,
Yôkai Watch,
...
PXZ2.
I will get the game but don't see the point in this pre-order offer. (well, the book could be interesting but it does not gives enough reason for the supplement price)
My only concern is about the last 3DS games (probably refined RPGs) who will be released in Japan and will never make it to the West because, you know, old devices games localization can't bring money.
@Tsurii Yes, Konami were the original cards manufacturers for Japan and Europe. They also take their license away from the USA card makers a few years ago.
Nice themed suits. * _ *
But I am not so optimistic about getting this game on the western 3DS if they intend to release later an expanded version of it, especially if they wish to publish it on the next generation device(s).
My favourite ones are without a doubt Sonic 2 and Sonic Adventure (maybe it will change if I ever find Adventure 2). "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" and Sonic Rush were good too. I found the Advance series average.
Funny, there is a homebrew program on 3DS who does just that (without colours support). The servers were not always easy to access when I wanted to test it but it still seems like a better option.
Playing this kind of game on a TV screen sounds like a waste.

(mobile view is pretty good)
Re: Random: Don't Forget to Celebrate Mewtwo's Birthday
@Interneto The game never mentioned any cloning manipulation. We are only said (through those lab notes) that Mewtwo is the offspring of Mew.
After checking, the DNA work is only mentionned in the anime adaptation and the Special manga.

My only concern is about the last 3DS games (probably refined RPGs) who will be released in Japan and will never make it to the West because, you know, old devices games localization can't bring money.
Re: There's a New Yu-Gi-Oh! Game on the Way to 3DS this Summer
@Tsurii Yes, Konami were the original cards manufacturers for Japan and Europe. They also take their license away from the USA card makers a few years ago.
Re: Check Out The Upcoming Star Fox Collaboration in Monster Hunter X (Cross)
Nice themed suits. * _ *
But I am not so optimistic about getting this game on the western 3DS if they intend to release later an expanded version of it, especially if they wish to publish it on the next generation device(s).
Re: The Teaser Site For Fire Emblem Fates Has Just Gone Up in North America
How can there still be no pre-order for the dual games card in Europe!?
Re: Weirdness: Homebrew Enthusiast Gets Windows 95 Working on the New Nintendo 3DS
@GeminiSaint There is already a perfectly working 3DSX build of Minesweeper.
@Trinexx While you re waiting, you can play the SNES version of SimAnts on blarg for 3DS.
Re: SEGA Reveals the Logo for Sonic the Hedgehog's 25th Anniversary
My favourite ones are without a doubt Sonic 2 and Sonic Adventure (maybe it will change if I ever find Adventure 2).
"Sonic 3 & Knuckles" and Sonic Rush were good too. I found the Advance series average.
Re: Review: Sketch Wars (Wii U eShop)
Funny, there is a homebrew program on 3DS who does just that (without colours support). The servers were not always easy to access when I wanted to test it but it still seems like a better option.
Playing this kind of game on a TV screen sounds like a waste.
