Hyrule Warriors Legends is now available in Japan, and some players have encountered a troubling issue - the game doesn't give you the option to erase your save data, which means that when you sell the game on, the new owner can't start the adventure from the beginning - they're stuck with your save data.
You might assume this is a ploy by Nintendo to encourage players to only purchase new copies of the game, thereby generating more revenue - but the reality is a little less exciting. It would seem that Nintendo simply overlooked the feature, and the company has since stated that it will introduce data erasal in a future update. Phew!
In case you didn't know, Hyrule Warriors Legends is an enhanced version of the Wii U original and arrives in North America on March 25th and Europe on March 24th.

nice
Good. I hate that Super Monkey Ball 3D doesn't have a reset feature--I wanted to play through it and unlock everything again (since unlockables are one of my favourite things in video games) and I just can't do it.
Really sucks.
Lets see this gets turned out to be a bad thing after it hits the various internet forums. My money is this is on "this is a plot to prevent players buying 2nd hand around launch because the old 3Ds runs it poorly"
I'm sure I remember some SNES games being like this and I turned the SNES on and off really fast with the game in to erase the saved data! This is a more elegant solution of course
@Plainsville I seem to recall Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D was the same?
I wouldn't call it enhanced. More like a side step.
Also how about Wii U saved data transfer instead?!
@Spoony_Tech What, you don't like copying 18GB of game data w/ your 8000kb of save date?
On topic. Why would anybody make a game where you can't erase the save data? I don't get it, that should be as standard as having the ability to save the data in the first place. Alos, all game should have 3 save slots. Even Pokemon. you can't tell me in 2016 when we have 128GB thumbdrives they can't figure out to create enough space for 3 save slots on a 3DS cartridge.
This is a very basic feature, and it's surprising that it was overlooked in the first place. At least it's getting fixed.
Nintendo seem to be slipping a bit, what with errors and delays.
The funny thing is if NL post an article about not being able to erase your save data before this info, users' comments would of been at least 150 by now.
Very odd for a first-party title to lack such a basic feature in the first place. At least it's getting added.
The most annoying game I ever encountered that lacked a save reset was Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer for the N64. Many exchanges needed to be made at game stores before getting a used copy that hadn't had all or some of its best course times hacked to 0:00:00.00, with no readily available way to correct it.
What about a home that has 3 people 1 adult and 2 kids who all play and have 3ds's. Why should we have to buy 3 copies of the same game?
All games should have 3 save slots and all be erasable.
@rjejr Just look at Monster Hunter 4G/U:
@rjejr well, Nintendo is like 10 years behind standards
You have to go to settings and erase the data. I know that worked for me, but that was digital and for WiiU.
1) You can delete all save data from the system settings no matter what
2) Saves are on the SD card and not the cardridge for 3DS games so this isn't about reselling
@Dave24 One good thing about being 10 years behind standards is being on standards. See Vita memory cards, the price of which may have single-handily did the system in at launch.
I don't understand why any games have limited numbers of save files now that every console has expandable memory. You can have up to 12 NNIDs tied to a Wii U; why does Woolly World only have three files for the entire console?
Worrying...very worrying! You would expect this nonsense from Capcom, but not from a game with Nintendo characters! Sure they ad the option as a update, but it should have been there in the first place. Another looooow from Nintendo (yes its a Tecmo game, but with a Nintendo franchise. Nintendo is ALSO to blame on this matter)!!!
@Adamario I'm speculating here, but doesn't every user on a Wii U have his own 3 save slots for a game like Yoshi's Woolly World? Otherwise what's the use of having an account system anyway?
I got excited for a second because i thought i could use my heavily played Wii U data, but instead everyone is excited they can delete their data. What an odd feature to leave out though.
@Damo It was, yeah. Really stupid, honestly.
@Snader No, for some reason Woolly World is just three saves per console, like New Super Mario Bros U. I thought maybe they'd learned not to do that when Mario 3D World did the right thing and had three saves per profile, but then they went back and did the thing again with Yoshi. I don't get it.
Okay Sorry But , This is Not what i'm Looking For , Why Would you reset your Data On a game that is so Huge ! Honestly , give me My info On If i can freaking transfer My wii u save data , Between the wii u and 3ds . I've put so Much time in the wii u version ...
