Re: Niantic Developers Elaborate More on the Design of Pokémon Go

Rei

@ikki5 If you can't use a PC for sotring/trading purposes, it isn't even a Pokémon game in the spirit.
Such Internet functions should be implemented not even because they make the game more practical but simply because they are parts of the fantasy Pokémon world since the beginning.
Why not specific town locations (+ your house) to heal Pokémon as well? ^^

Re: Splatoon Developers on the Future of Splatoon and DLC

Rei

@GLA Exactly what I find strange in this game. There will be a less lot appeal remaining when Wii U online services will be shutdown. ANd then, you will only be able to play multiplayer with up to 1 player. (compared to the N64 4players shoot'em up that you can still play in optimal conditions today)

Re: Review: SmileBASIC (3DS eShop)

Rei

This seems like a great tool but it is too hard for me.
I would purchase a RPG Tsukuru 3DS any time, if they were willing to release such softwares in the occidental world.

Re: Feature: Time to Vote for Your Nintendo Life Game of the Year Awards 2015

Rei

Game of the Year: Monster Hunter 4 U, despite the fact it was not really a 2015 game.
Best 3DS games of the year among those listed: Monster Hunter of course, and I am gladly surprised to see Code name: STEAM in the choices. I could have choosed Majora's Mask, but it is not a game of this year in my mind.

Best 3DS e-shop game: hum... should I say IRONFALL, I loved what this game had to "offer". (so sad that my tweaked console has to be sent to Nintendo, I did not actually fully finished an imported game yet)

Re: Intriguing Nintendo Patent Points to 'Supplemental Computing Device' and Cloud Resources for a Gaming System

Rei

@Yorumi I think the same as you. I don't want Internet to be an essential part of a console, even when I am not playing multiplayer games. I know everyone is supposed to have access to Internet nowadays, but it should never be considered as a fact that all the consumer base has the internet and wants to use it for every aspect of their life. (soon we will have to wireless connect our heating devices to some Internet entry to make them work because they will need to access the meteorological conditions to adapt themselves xD)
Already in the DS/3DS games, I could not stand the fact that some games required an internet connection to unlock some parts of it (who were already in the cartridge for the DS, and mostly already in the gamecards for the 3DS).

Re: Intriguing Nintendo Patent Points to 'Supplemental Computing Device' and Cloud Resources for a Gaming System

Rei

1. If they advert the cloud system of a new console as a way to improve its "power", they are bound to pull off too much potential consumers: why would anyone who has not a perfectly working high performance connection to th einternet be willing to purchase a console they would not be able to play several games in good conditions (or worse not able to play them at all).
2. The device boosting performances of the main devices is also a pull-of: this has been tried since the prehistoric times of the videogame consoles and it was never a good deal (not enough exclusive games to sell the bonus device). Even if the offer is good, how many players will bother with a supplemental thing ? And what about the average people (those who could not even start with the Wii U because they saw the Gamepad as an independant gaming tablet)? They will simply think this is too much to handle.

Re: Review: Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (3DS)

Rei

For all those who complain about the note, just add a point or two. This clearly seems to be reviewed for a larger public than the few Pokémaniacs who would buy every thing named Pokémon and the players who like the Mystery Dungeon series. This article made a clear list of the things who keep entertaining you and the ones who could pull off the "virgin" player.
I personally enjoyed the first one as a comedic break after Draque IV, since the repeated actions were clearly Torneko-esque. But I never could finish any other Fushigi Dungeon, since they are all the same games with minor tweaks and I don't mind saying it was boring despite being funny. No matter how well done/thought the games are, they are first and foremost Fushigi games with a different costume. You must adhere to the base system before trying any title (I tried the first Pokémon iteration, a Shiren one, another Torneko on GBA, and two Pokémon DS games).

Re: Story of Seasons Release Date Brought Forward to 31st December in Europe

Rei

Not for me, as much as I enjoyed Harvest Moon back then on GBC then Super Nintendo (emulation), I am much more interested into the "derivated" series who started on DS (with the dungeon/RPG elements). Too bad there was no physical release in Europe.
About farm RPGs, I am looking forward for the 3DS spin-off using an old manga/anime as background. (I forgot the name)

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Free-to-Play Experiments - Are You Still Playing?

Rei

Right now, I do not play any of those games because I can't access the e-shop since last update. ^^

Before that, I was playing Shuffle regularly for collection purpose without any money. (and without any save edition, despite my ability to do so, because then what would be the point?). Rumble lasted me a few weeks, but I let it go after a while (because of my lack of diamonds), even after I loaded the stacks of free diamonds from codes two months ago I could not enjoy it anymore. Badge Arcade... well it came too late to try it ^^" (but if I had it, I would never pay for it like never purchased any official thema)

PS: I actually despise additional purchases in game. I only did it with Fire Emblem 13 to get 3or5 maps who had theoretically an added value to the scenario, SMTIV for a post-game quest and Fantasy Life (to get the full version, who was in the same cartridge when it was re-released in Japan -_-)

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 12th November

Rei

The major thing for me was the confirmation of what Mr.Horii had disclosed without permission durung the Japan Expo.
Then comes obviously the fact that the two Fire Emblem stories will be released as cartridges in Europa. My last wish now is that the third one will be on a card too (in the deluxe limited package).

On another side, the free-to-play Pokémon Picross seemed at first to be a good surprise. Not that I am happy with the theme but a free picross can only be welcomed. That was until I saw the japanese Direct presentation where they actually talk about a "free-to-start" game.
To continue on this note, I am disappointed that Shin MegaTen IV Final was not even mentionned in the US video.
Also, I am wondering was exactly was this Culdcept game about (again, watch the japanese Direct) ? After some readings, it seemed like a S-RPG blending of board and card games. Do you thing it might be released in the "West"?

PS: the "suprise" inclusion of Cloud to Smash Brothers is not so surprising, it is a good move from Square to advertise the 2016 (?) release of their highly anticipated (I still can't figure why) Final Fantasy VII remake on another platforms.

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (Europe)

Rei

I was interested in Rodea (3DS) since the new release announcement so I will buy it in a supermarket since it costs less than a stupid console-based download and I always enjoy more a game that I really own.

Re: 3DS System Update to Version 10.2.0-28 is Now Live

Rei

@LN3000 The YouTube exploit was not patched in this update. The servers are simply sending an error code to block your usage of the application unless you download the new flawless version.

No 10.2 for me, since it doesn't prevent me to keep buying new games. I still want to get this Digimon game and some jap/US-only physical releases.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (Europe)

Rei

@Tsurii @Pahvi Back to the Future is celebrating its 30th birthday (release date) in 2015. But a more important thing is that the 21st october of the year 2015 is WHEN Marty and the Doc land in the future (in Back to the Future Part II). And if you remember this sequel, the protagonist plays a game of "Wild Gunman" in the cafeteria he visits.

Re: Review: Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden (3DS)

Rei

Thanks to the demo and this test, I know that I will stick to the Ultimate Butôden (DS).
@DarkCoolEdge This one was fun, had enough variety among the characters abilities (I don't care about the number of characters at all), the ultimate attacks scenes and the alternate stories are always a (guilty) pleasure to watch, the backgrounds are alive... The fights give an extremely DBZ feeling due to the actions speed while it adds enough funny new ideas to the 2D DBZ beat'em up and I kind of love the DB Origins graphic engine.
Sure, some characters have superiority problems if you play them a certain way, but if I want a competitive serious 2D arcade fighter with online encounters I still have my 3D STF4 (and god, there are still lots of players out there).

But if anyone has arguments to make me adopt this last iteration of DBZ based on my taste for Ultimate, I am all ears out.

Re: Review: 3D Gunstar Heroes (3DS eShop)

Rei

Is this 3D enhanced port keeping all the guests from outside licenses? Or is it like the GBA game, where it was gone.
I would love to see Gladys and her two men (Fushigi no umi no Nadia) again.

Could anyone who "owns" this version bring me an answer please ?

Re: Movie Review: Pixels Proves Once Again That Video Games And Film Do Not Make Good Bedfellows

Rei

@6ch6ris6 @Bytec I first saw this comedian in the (in)famous "Big Daddy", who was neither great nor bad. But he acted in some good comedies like "Little Nicky" (yes, I enjoyed it), the "Mr.Deeds" remake who was okay, etc. I think back then he always did his job playing an ordinary plain guy.
But he also appeared enough skilled in more serious stories like "Punch drunk love", the movie about the trauma guy or the one with the dying stand-up star and my favourite movie (starring him): "Spanglish".

The more recent movies are hardly enjoyable: the US remake of the prison soccer british movie was a very bad take on the original, then followed Disney, the girl with the memory loss, Click (erk). There has been kind of an audience change, that's maybe the reason I lose interest in his movies. Also, "Grown-ups" could have been good, I don't know why it did not appeal to me.

I must confess "Happy Gilmore" gave me some laughs too. And the Sandler/Schneider 'guy from nowhere' running gag worked on me.

Re: Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS And Nintendo NX

Rei

@Peach64 Since when is Level-5 adapting any children animated series? They created "Inazuma Eleven", they created Danball Senki (the "Little Brawlers" soon to be released in Occident), they also created their more recent big franchise "Yokai Watch"...
The fact they use animated sequences to told some story elements does not mean the base material was a manga or anime. (another example: Ni no Kuni, the Ghibli studio worked on the scenes)
