@Hey-Cha-La Thank you. The list still needs some more infos to clarify everything (like genre) because all those long titles aren't very transparent. If I got it, we just got the 3rd game released for 3DS. I actually thought it was the anniversary remake of the old game (I had seen it on some webpage a few years ago)
Getting virtual copies of games as a reward is perfectly understandable, but why did they decide to alienate a good part (if not more than 50%) of their consumers by removing real game cards from their fidelity program. I consider that as a regression rather than an evolution.
"Which of these improvements do you most want to see in My Nintendo?"
Being rewarded for game cards too.(at least in the same amount of virtual games)
@Captain_Gonru The 3DS does not need to run a virtual N64 (uff, since it is so hard to do it accurately) to play those games, they were programmed from scratch for the console.
The SNES VC "recreates" the original console behavior.
Metroid, but 2D!! 3 Prime were released in only a handful of years, that's more than enough for now when you look on how sparse the "regular" ones are.
But more importantly, I want to see titles with unknow names to start with. Who are talked about for what they offer and not "how the series evolves" etc...
Why did they change the monsters appearance system? it is usually annoying to train when you have to meet the ennemy on the map. (not that it prevented me to reserve the game)
I'll ask this too: "Why were the orchestral tracks replaced with MIDI ones?
@fchinaski People who "like Dragon Quest" because of the IX are have often illusions about what makes a Dragon Quest (confusing DraQue with Level-5 typical RPGs/games).
@Lynox @mig-EL @Dakt IX is more of a Level-5 hommage to Dragon Quest than a real Draque. If you expect IX style, you should redirect yourself toward other Level-5 creations.
Another one, again? I know hunting can be a sport, but this game series doesn't need to be managed like a sport game.
To everyone talking about a NX start release, that wouldn't be safe. They are more likely to wait and watch whose "next gen" console is the one offering the largest audience. @AlexSora89 They need a new generation of Rockman platformers. One who lives for more than two titles.
@k8sMum Right, I did not think about it because I never cared about the promotional e-mails: they look either very childish or caricatural. (women/girls who like videogames aren't irresistibly seduced by certain colours or genres, or brands: they can play anything like men/boys)
It was great in a sense because I have now 5 to 8 titles I'd love to get (european releases, imported cards), but sadly we had no news about a euro Yokai Watch 2 or western releases for all the forgotten Level-5 sequels and their upcoming games (Miss Layton, Inazuma Ares, Snack World), and a MH Stories localization. It made me also envious for a japanese Download game (the mouses tank "strategy" game) and the new Puyo² who seems to be a successor to the Nazo Puyo.
@k8sMum @Kiyata What kind of videogames should they label as "oriented toward women"? Most of their games are "asexuals", none of my girl friends (any age) has ever said to me Zelda, any platformer or Puyo Puyo (despite the famous Genshiken Puyo chapter) was masculine. Same for Pokémon, Yôkai Watch, etc...
@JamesCoote Isn't that free now through their new developer platform website?
Just hoping for a lot of localizations announcements, for older and more recent videogames. For Europe if possible, for America only in the worst case. All those Level-5 sequels are waiting for too long... all those RPGs from other brands too.
Also: some eshop successes released in real shops would be nice (like Shovel Knight did()
@CrazedCavalier The saves are simply stored on the SD card. But that's pretty stupid, I can't play on another device, I can't lend the game to someone, etc... What's good in a cartridge if it has no save memory in our time?
@zornthgrt Do you like people parading in your room, sticking their quests on your board when you bothered to write informations about your activity? And of course with a patch-work of armors providing absolutely no skill because "what is a skill?" (yeah, they neither read multiplayer camps infos nor the useful informations provided by the characters in game). But what really annoys me is what comes when I start to tell them what this is all about: "jajaja", "Let's go!" spam or even "shut up". I am stupid enough to offer a suit to the less stubborn ones, at least it prevents the same thing to happen.
At least, fans from previous entries do know some things despite they didn't read much either in the current game.
@Moon I think it means that. Unless the console creates a new ext folder with another serial number for your future cartridge (that would be weird since both the cartridge and the eshop download have the same reference).
@GoldenGamer88 There is another species of horns mammals in MHGen who live in more snowy areas.
@Moon Yes, I confirmed it later with my 2DS: the saves selection screen is empty on other consoles. -_- Tht's so stupid, why did they need to spare room for? Those myriads of special effects who are triggered by any small and unimportant thing?
@Moon And you are right: I made a "nice" discovery when I launched the game this afternoon: my cartridge warned me immediatly that it would save everything on the SD card. Lame, stupid way of playing on a handheld -_-
@Drac_Mazoku I wasn't sure of this game's worth because the score makes it look like the problems are standing out. But since my favourite Mazoku is entertained, I'll give it a try.
@zool On the other hand, this game is a remake AND a game who was relased in Japan a long time before being announced here. Almost everything about it is already available on the Internet. I would prefer to see them have nice TV ads relying on Toriyama charming style and the 3DS family appeal to be sure the game release is known from a larger public. (Toriyama's name and styles are BIG here in France)
@PlutoPerson Not sure if it helps you, but the "remakers" added a function to not get lost anymore in the exploration. You are free to deactivate it but if you do not, it will prevents wanderings by pointing you a destination in every occasion (if I did understood right). You can find an article about those tweaks here on NintendoLife. This reddit thread seems to support my argument: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonquest/comments/2z1pfc/dqviiis_this_game_length_correct/
This article was a very nice story to read.
I can totally understand how a little child can come to love those beings: I myself fall in love with various legends and tales "monsters" when I was still 5-6 years old through the fabulous (it's probably a strong adjective) "Monster in my pocket" collection of Mattel. (even discovered my first yôkai then)
When I was 8 year old (even younger), Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya shows had the same effect on my generation than what is described in the article (Cpt.Tsubasa launched a giant football-mania too). What I find better in Yôkai Watch than in Pokémon who had the same kind of effect inbetween is the introduction to another culture and way of life, those of Japan (both modern and old), where Pokémon didn't bring a lot itself.
On another subject, is this the "new normal" for a 8 year-old kid to have YouTube "stars" and to be "obsessed" with a PC game? o_O I feel so outdated.
@ThomasBW84 I think the mention of the armor spheres is wrong: in MH4U, they were used to raise the defense of armor pieces or upgrade relics (weapons and armors), regular weapon didn't require them.
There is no mention of a "free hunt" mode in the review. Is there nothing like that? (I think there was some in MHTriU, and MH4 has the expeditions)
Another question: what do we have in place of the excavation hunting (Guild Quests) to make us busy once the "main game" is done?
@Oubie The major interests of MH4U are:
the simple but nice narrative supporting most of the solo campaign (who's like a long but subtle tutorial)
the game is severed in more difficulty levels than Generations (with the last optional difficulty in post-end game being extremely punitive/rewarding depending on what you´learned from your game hours)
the existence of an independent grinding system to get randomly generated weapons/armors where you can sink hours and hours if you are someone who likes that. It uses even more difficulty steps than the normal game and is the part of MH4 who features the aforementioned "final level".
Downsides:
less "lessons" than in the new game,
less special graphical effects from your moves (I find MHGen action slightly saturated with those: everything generates some kind of visual effect),
less combat style variations (no system to tweak the moves, no "super technique").
Less beginners available in online cooperation (and a lot are absolutely unwilling to "follow the rules" of MH, their characters wearing patchwork suits whith no effect on the game while the player never ever consulted/played the tutorial phase of their game and ignores everything) makes it harder to discover the hunts smoothly with no overpowered hunter coming in to do all the beating for you, they aren't even aware how much of the experience they spoil.
An advice whatever MH you will play: don't hear people telling you to rush through until reaching the last diff.stage "because the real game begins then", ther is no pleasure if you don't have time to enjoy and learn about all those systems.
@Moon Some IRL shops have it already if you're ilpatient.
@Steven_the_2nd You'll find such players after a few days online. They will already be at end-game and spoil/ruin newcomers by handling them any quest and material farming like it was a piece of cake. Usually, the happy new players are later noticed in middle/end-game with absolutely no idea what an armor is for (skills, etc), often need help for everything, and sometimes actively beg.
@SteamedSquid Too many iterations in a rather short life span compared to other well-known game series.
I was not expecting such a good RPG. +1 game on the very very [...] very long RPG list (cumulating DS and 3DS). Thank you Monster Hunter, and all those old anime and SFC ROMs I had accumulated for 10 years -_-
@Ezzzy @Marshi Only Zelda and Mario here are properties of Nintendo. You also forgot Donkey Kong.
For those who want a Zelda or Metroid film: they would either feel like total soulless duplicates of a generic medieval fantasy fiction and a mix between Alien and Aliens or would have to be action-centered movies with a basic but entertaining plot who gave up on the games identity (discovery) and alienate the players. The second option is the best one and could lure some kids and young people to turn to Nintendo games again. But... they would then knock themseles to the wall of Reality and understand the games have almost nothing in common with what they saw and liked.
Out-of-topic: I just discovered the Dragon Quest direct-to-video live movie. I had a big laugh.
Dragon Quest VII, Yôkai Watch 2 (but I prefer to wait to see if the 3rd version will come out too), and Monster Hunter X who comes soon. I would have selected Pkmn but I wasn't even able to finish the side quests and training in Alpha. No game has motivated me since Silver and Black.
Will this animated movie be available in several languages included the original one? Because I already saw it in french on TV but never watched the japanese version.
@Kalmaro Probably Slimes Ambition. Seeing the screenshot, it looks like a strategy RPG, so the name is probably a poon on Nobunaga no Yabô (Nobunaga's Ambition).
So, I presume this gigantic duration (the 120hours) is maintained in the 3DS version? No matter what, it's a Dragon Quest, so I need to add it to my DS collection.
@Bakajin I was a bit disappointed back then when it was announced in japan. At first I expected the graphics to be something like a enhanced version of the 2D/3D mix used in the DS "trilogy".
Now, if we could get Draque X client before the game sinks in Japan. I would gladly pay my first subscription to an online game if it was for this title. I forced the download of the japanese client, but it seems they have some connection check (or I would already have bought a month of play).
I am intrigued by the XI too. I know it won't be the "real" game was it was thought initially (like the versions for house consoles) but I am very interested to see what they will propose for this kind of 3DS exclusivity (it's clear both pocket and house games are not the same).
Battle for Money is the series of games where the last episode got two designs from mangaka (One Piece's Oda and ragon Ball's Toriyama)?
It is an adaptation of the long anime?! I thought the anime spawned from the first game. o_o
Note: still waiting for a western release. If not, I'll probably try a copy before a possible import.
@BakaKnight Upps, sorry, I did not check the information. Some stupid french page had started a rumour a few month ago as it seems: a new Inazuma game was supposed to be announced in june and the third GO (whose name is registered since a year ago in Europe) european release was supposed to be officialized this summer.
@Henmii The new TV series is in preparation along the new videogame (the one who should take place around the first generation).
Still no word about The Snack World... if they don't talk about it at this occasion, it means the 3DS game has been cancelled.
A little word for the West saying they want to localize further the Danball Senki series is an impossible dream.
A new less exagerated Inazuma focusing on football and kids? Were'nt both previous series starting exactly like that with their first episodes?
If that means we have to say goodbye to the Dragon Ball/manga techniques, to Jojo's Stands andSaint Seiya's clothes... I'm against it. They should add something new, not removing.
That's sad... Japanese shouldn't have integrated something someone imposed on them. But at least "as far as everyone in the world knows his official name is Eggman now". ^^
I always saw him as an egg in a flying egg cup, so when I learned its real name in an article, it made much more sense and since then I kept that name.
Probably the Mario&Luigi RPG (game card), though I would have prefered the "in Bowser" episode.
I might also buy a physical version of Ocarina 3D for the sake of keeping a homebrew access just in case.
@MadAussieBloke The game is already tested somewhere?!
@JaxonH The GBA games weren't running on the 3DS system. It was only due to the DS processor "tricked" to start them (sorry if I can't explain it correctly, I am not good with those things).
No, it was only made to make up for the people who bought the 3DS early, before its price cutdown. They didnt plan to release a GBA VC collection, and they certainly don't right now.
What I placed betwen " " was their opinion on the matter: it won't be a 3DS feature because it doesn't work inside the 3DS native system (but in the DS one), thus removing every bit of the supposed "3DS game experience" (home menu, background applications, etc).

@Hey-Cha-La I'm a little lost. How many Kunio games werepublished for the 3DS, in wich genre and how many are remakes?
Re: Review: Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits & Fleshy Souls (3DS)
Ok... more of the same with only a few tweaks? Not so surprising since Level-5 releases its sequels way too fast.
Will there be localization for the third (enhanced) version?

Some stupid french page had started a rumour a few month ago as it seems: a new Inazuma game was supposed to be announced in june and the third GO (whose name is registered since a year ago in Europe) european release was supposed to be officialized this summer.
@Henmii The new TV series is in preparation along the new videogame (the one who should take place around the first generation).
Re: New Professor Layton Title to be Revealed on 27th July
Still no word about The Snack World... if they don't talk about it at this occasion, it means the 3DS game has been cancelled.
A little word for the West saying they want to localize further the Danball Senki series is an impossible dream.
A new less exagerated Inazuma focusing on football and kids? Were'nt both previous series starting exactly like that with their first episodes?
If that means we have to say goodbye to the Dragon Ball/manga techniques, to Jojo's Stands andSaint Seiya's clothes... I'm against it. They should add something new, not removing.
Re: Head of Sonic Team Explains Why Dr. Robotnik Started Going by "Eggman"
Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd June (Europe)
Probably the Mario&Luigi RPG (game card), though I would have prefered the "in Bowser" episode.
I might also buy a physical version of Ocarina 3D for the sake of keeping a homebrew access just in case.
@MadAussieBloke The game is already tested somewhere?!
Re: "Oops", Says Image & Form as 'SteamWorld Bundle' Rating is Spotted for Wii U
A 3DS cartridge would be even nicer.
Re: Reminder: Day Two of E3 Brings Multiple Nintendo Games Including a 'New Role-Playing IP'
Am I the only one to think about The Snack World possibility?

Re: E3 2016: Nintendo to Introduce a 'New Role-Playing IP' for 3DS At E3 Today
The Snack World?! (it would be time to learn more about it¨)
Monhun Stories wouldn't fit as a new RPG franchise, but it's okay too
Re: SEGA E3 Stream to Feature the Sonic Team and "News For Fans of Sonic The Hedgehog"
@SLIGEACH_EIRE They sure lost a good amount of them when they confirmed the DC death.
Re: Super Famicom Anime Classic Hyper Iria Now Playable In English
Thanks a lot for advertising the translation! I had given up long ago on playing this game (I lost myself fairly easy in games).
Looking forward to the next episode of your "old games" reviews.
Re: Talking Point: Five Years of eShop Progress Doesn't Mask Nintendo's Next-Gen Challenge
Re: Talking Point: Five Years of eShop Progress Doesn't Mask Nintendo's Next-Gen Challenge
@JaxonH GBA VC is a no-go. "There should be no software removing the 3DS basic nackground functions" (Nintendo statement)
