Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate had some fun downloadable crossover events and unlockable outfits; it was possible to earn items for your hunter and Palico that paid tribute to franchises such as Street Fighter, Sonic the Hedgehog and more. Nintendo's franchises also featured, with notable examples being The Legend of Zelda and Metroid.
The latter two are arriving in Monster Hunter X (Cross) shortly in Japan, too, as part of a month-long 7-Eleven distribution. They're variations and in some cases repeats of the content enjoyed in the game's predecessor, but a cool new set of goodies - initially announced in late 2015 - will be related to Star Fox; the timing is good with the upcoming arrival of Star Fox Zero on the Wii U. Of particular note is the Fox Palico outfit, which you can see below.
The latest Monster Hunter entry has proven to be another hugely successful release so far in Japan, though there's been no word yet as to whether it will come to the West. We'd love a localised version, naturally, with the new entry incorporating some fresh mechanics and a more action-oriented approach.
Until localisation is announced we can only look on jealously at the Fox Palico outfit.

But I am not so optimistic about getting this game on the western 3DS if they intend to release later an expanded version of it, especially if they wish to publish it on the next generation device(s).
This is the only game I want this year. (MHX) I hope they're already hard at work localizing it.
For those who don't know, you can play as Palicos in Monster Hunter X, renamed Nyantas (Nyan + Hunter, there is no real "r" sound in Japanese so it comes out as "Hunta"), so the Palico armor can be used for more than just mostly offline decoration.
Hopefully we'll get the game at some point since I might be desperate and just get a japanese New 3DS eventually if we don't get it lol.

Yeah, I refuse to look at any gameplay videos of this game. I'm already at the end of MH4U, so hopefully this game will make it over soon. I wanna be a cat, and hunt that...weird elder dragon.
This will come west and I can't wait! I could see this being a summer release.
i'm still on the human parts of xenoblade chronicles x and the more i run around mira, the more i get the sense that this is what monster hunter 4 or x would be like on the wii u.

I can't wait for this to come west(fingers crossed). I have been watching some videos of this, looking forward to trying out the different hunting "Styles" (Guild, Striker, Aerial and Bushido) and the new Hunter Arts look sweet too!
I'd be very srosed if we get MHX, capcom seems much happier to hold of the fddoratt release in the west. If they decide to a G/Ultimate version then we're likley to see it.
Whether or not it gets an G/U version is iffy. This is effectively freedom/Portable 4th (no point having a 'portable' version now it's on a portable system) and only Portable 2nd got an G (unite) update... Well technically as PortableFeeedom 1 was of MHG
