@GraveLordXD You're right, as long as an emulator doesn't include any proprietary material, it is good. I missunderstood you ^^" : I had read in your text that owning a game allows to play a rom of this game on an emulator (that is the incorrect thing). My excuses.
@Popful Overwehlming? I don't know about past games but in MH4:
edit: before the conpendium, there is actually the game manual, sadly nowadays exclusively electronic. It explains the very very basic buttons functions and the different sections of the game.
There is first the conpendium you can read in-game to get the basic commands for whatever weapon you choose. If you ever want to test those basic commands and learn one or two "subtleties" about a weapon, you can then choose to play the facultative level1 missions who give you a chance to test it out in actual conditions with a guide NPC. I'm pretty sure MHTri is like MH4 for the weapons moves: there are no "advanced" moves, only basic moves and specific combinations of move for each weapon (combos who vary in strength and usage of course). Once you taugh the basics ones, what could they possibly teach you as "advanced" thing?
After that, the village missions from level2 and further give you regularly a new aspect of the gameplay to try out through a certain mission (but inbetween there are several others with relatively increasng difficulty, while still very easy to complete). Example: the first two missions past the weapon commands mission teaches you about the crafting system by showing you the receipt for a potion and what is stamina (+ how to maintain it). That's far from overflowing the player with informations.
About the very long tutorial present in the form of the village, the fact it spawns so much levels, and that it separates each real new textbook lesson, makes it pretty slow. (that's the actual reason why you see players online who have absolutely no clue about how to play the game, and just play it like a no-brainer hack'n slash. Those players are the one who should get this "what should I do ??" but they are too confident for that).
Maybe MHTri lacked some of those elements?
@Popful The MH4 manual was rather simple, and the long tutorial (in form of a scenario) was really well done. (even if most new players simply put the card in their 3Ds and launched the cooperation mode online unlike me)
It is strange to think that TriU, the previous opus, would have nothing like it to learn the game. (well the game basics, because learning the game really means practicing the monsters and the weapons in "real situation")
@GraveLordXD Owning a private copy of the game you purchased is authorized in the limit of your country own regulation about personal copies. And with "private copy", I mean a file you produced yourself from your own card/disc. The problem is that most of the programs allowing you to do that (dumping, right?) are illegal themselves depending of the country's laws too.
I hope the slight presence of Yôkai Watch will make them more inclined to release the next entries faster. The sooner, the better: I don't want to buy a NX/whatever to play a translated Yôkai Watch 3. (like they did with Inazuma 3 3DS exclusivity, instead of selling the compilation)
@ThanosReXXX I am not confident enough to made such a modification by myself. And I know that using ISO copies (I suppose it works this way) will lead me to never buy any GD game.
Still, does this added option prevents the zone check before reading a game from the SD?
After 4 months of unsuccessful search for a regular european in-box game (I hate those stupid minimalist prints for RPGs), this collector US launch edition proved to be way easier to get! 10minutes internet researches, purchased this week and received today. (not having the french translation will only bother the ones I could have lend it to)
@ThanosReXXX The Dreamcast disc reader doesn't detect anything anymore. The N64 (bought new in 1999) mysteriously ceased to function after my moving out/in two months ago. I discovered the same day that my last official joystick suddenly couldn't stand still (after the same "travel"). -_-
So, if I really decide to buy any big machine again, it will probably replacements for those one. (I'm less sad for the Dreamcast, since I got it by error whie I was searching for an older model compatible with a chip who is today still brand new xD)
@ThanosReXXX Thanks for your efforts, I appreciate. Sadly, my only home console were a N64 and a Dreamcast. I don't think I will ever own another one again, I found myself caring a lot more about the games who popped out on the Game Boy Advance and DS after that, so I naturally invested in their successor.
Sorry about the long answer. I didn't want to seem rude.
I love Ridge Racer (since I tried it on Playstation then got RR64 one) but found the 3D episode not so good. I hope this one will make a good replacement!
@3DiddyKong I first wanted to place the word "regular" next to Rockman but I thought it would be missinterpreted as "original 8bits" Rockman game while I was talking about genre.
@Tempestryke I never liked those series, despite how much I loved the games. I still think today this kind of game isn't made to be adapted in a story medium. (I know Looney tunes and co. haven't a storyline, maybe this type of show should be used for those games adaptations) Anyway, it is only a promotional thing, no need to worry about the series potential qualities or flaws. As videogame fans, we should wish it a good reception who will reflect on the sale numbers for games of the brand.
Donkey Kong was popular enough here to be the host of a youth program on the national main public broadcasting channel. The animation itself might be not very well known because it was a french/canadian coproduction (from 1995 or 1996, I think): https://youtu.be/Xh3GE9wmWOI
@sdelfin Where did you see the new Voltron announcement and its designs? Has it anything to do with the original makers?
Another shoot'em up, but this time unknown to me. Such a review has negative effects on me: it will be hard not to regress to the old me, who never owned a SNes and got his "reveenge" by pirating around 90% of all its classics and great games. The sad part: I live in the country where reconditioned SFC were produced recently and I still have none. Anyway... let's go make the rom into a n3DS VC.
@Kid_Sickarus Second half life period of the 16bits consoles have graphics who don't age.
Internet people and life-long fans seem to forget the point here, what is this animation made for.
For the sake of "modernity", in order to bring a new public (larger, younger) to the franchise. So a new game would harvest the benefits. The show is definitely not for the persons already acquainted with the games.
Also, did anyone here really like the Donkey Kong Country CGI show, despite its game look-alike design? You can't made a good show of a platformer, simply because a show needs to tell a story while the platformer only needs an excuse of a story to start the "hostilities". Look at Sonic (the first series was ugly and vain, the second one with better visuals did try to create a story but didn't ring like the game because of it) or Mario too.
Is the french cartoon Sonic BOOM that good? o_o (only stumbled upon an episode once)
If this works, I'm all for it. My only fear is that the next Rockman game (finally!) will be either not a Rockman game (but another genre spin-off of the franchise, like the multimedia boom they tried to make with the .EXE games) or using this horrible "style".
I don't mind to use another character than the original Rock to play a Rockman game. What I actually want is a Rockman gun platformer like the original series and its sequels (X, Zero, ZX). Of course, something effectively building up on those game basis would be even greater, but at this point where the series is basically dead, I would gladly take a well-made game with no innovation.
@TheWPCTraveler I hope you will enjoy it enough to watch the TV show later (who includes more from the same singer). The movie is supposed to be a "propaganda" movie retelling in a largely romanced version the TV events for the (in-universe) future generations.
Looks like I have still something to look forward to in the videogames consoles department.
I remember the Dolphin was announced before the Game Boy Advanced, but after this case wasn't the handheld console always announced and released before the home one?
I have no hope for a game card release of SMTIVfinal in Europe now. More largely: adieu potential RPGs releases during the last year of the console.
@Sanqet Meanwhile, Nintendo is trying its best to block further progression in the homebrew and pirating department, thus blocking the region free someone build.
@TheWPCTraveler If you wish to really know what Macross is, I invite you to watch the magnificent movie "Do you remember Love?", a very high quality level alternate retelling of the original story (the TV show has a better developed story but most young people would not watch it today due to the "poor" drawings and animation). Another thing if you like the "Spacy", Gundam had some nice misspellings too: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m11ew2URf61qgx70ro1_500.jpg
Great.
On another side... this leaves me a very short marge to get decent exemplars for all those weapon relics models I like and the few medals left in MH4U.
@NewAdvent @Grumblevolcano It is apparently the exact same thing as MH4U, just with a few tweaks and some new elements to add to the experience and rejuvenate it.
Great news... An english option in the japanese game would have been welcomed then.
I won't put money on it then. I feel bad now because I bought the trilogy on e-shop rather than importing it and supported this "system".
if a non-localized amateur translation is released, I will buy the game (hoping import won't be too costly). Before that, I hope Dai Gyakuten Saiban will be fully translated.
I am importing a cheap version of Ôendan 2, I didn't really liked the music in E.B.A and can't wait to try the original's sequel. With all those Theatr Rythm, Miku, etc... released on 3DS, it is strange that a Ôendan 3D (the perfect name) was not made. Or maybe it was the fear of an overfull market?
I found it accidentally while reading the SFC roms library and instantly loved it.
I think I managed to see the end of it, but I never understood what the glow meant. I have to replay it now that I know you can even subjugate ennemies, thanks @Shiryu !
Nice progresses. Looking forward to region-free launcher and if possible some amateur games exploiting the Gamepad.
@Favna But through homebrew, I can really backup my 3DS saves without being dependant of my console. (thanks to this, my brother who borrows me games can later export his save in his own gamecard he bought)
@whodatninja E3 isn't what would make a console's sales today. They should first connect with a more global audience than just videogame players. They don't need a console that sells correctly but one that sells very well since the WiiU was never a success and the 3DS was a relative success but has now reached (sadly) its life limit.
@Smug43 They will improve their online multiplayer services by making it payed. -_-
@Danrenfroe2016 The best thing here: two of the more multiplayer focused games with online access will be released between july and december this year: Monster hunter X (in the West) and the next generation pokémon.
A few month later, the new generation Nintendo platforms are released and in the second year after, the services for the previous consoles are cut off. Nice timing
@Sakuraichu True. But I never said the opposite. I only reacted to the "fact" it was 100% legal when it is only under certain circumstances. (not saying I'm a saint, I backed up most of my encrypted video DVDs myself)
@ShikabaneHime13 Thank you. I can then start the game on my 2DS without any concern.
@SteamedOddish Thank you, I just read about it. (I suppose if they ever come out in the West, some people will publish their cell codes somewhere on the Internet.)
@GoldenGamer88 I am not supporting piracy either o_O (and only the emulated system allows it, that's why I listed it last)
But the foreign e-shop is indeed an advantage, I'm sorry I forgot it (reason is I dislike this system and prefer to buy an imported game rather than virtual owning of a cheaper version locked on my console who totally depends on Nintendo's will). ^^"
I hope you are right and we keep getting some localizations during a year and a half (more would be very strange).
Does anyone know if the medals have an important impact on the game? Are there any medal-exclusive goods/characters or should I be able to get everything with the game alone? I just bought the game and don't know wether I should place the jap.audio on my 2DS (who has the most empty space) or n3DS (because of the scanner).
@GoldenGamer88 I doubt we will get the sequels too. If we had the first at the same time as America then there would be a chance for a Christmas 2016 release of the second game. But now that the NX release is announced for March, there is no chance for YW 2&3, nor Danball Senki/LBX "2" and "3". The less costly way would be for you to find the best fit to your own 3DS among the several ways of unlocking the game card reader. (RegionFree homebrew, emulated system through modified firmware, or the last trend using some very specific bug)
Finally, Yokai Watch in Europe! Reservation made last week in my usual supermarket, now I hope the japanese audio patch will be built soon enough to enjoy the game's original voices right from the start. (I got the LBX patch only for the second playthrough)
@Piersen Better get the DS game card, it is often among Square's special sales.
@ikki5 No game is worth that price when you already bought it and enjoyed it. Even if there were more differences but certainly not to get more pixels/polygones on the screen. (same goes with Squaresoft and other companies)
Meanwhile Europe will get the first opus. And probably never receives the final Inazuma Eleven Go nor the 2nd and 3rd LBX / Danball Senki... I suppose the same thing will happen with this series: first game hugely promoted, second pretty discret, side-games and third episode never released.
PS: if only someone would hack and translate Go3 and the LBX.
@MrKenta No, it takes place in a fictional japanese suburb. They just changed it in the West to avoid hurting little westerners sensibility.
@Arminillo My excuses but I do not understand your sentence at all.
@Zibene999 Errm... sorry for the misunderstanding but I was not referring to the old dead illegal streaming website who "stole" stolen animation (because while fansubbing is perfectly legal in itself, to deliver the episode encoded with the subs has always been illegal, be it licensed in your country or not) but to the current legal service who finances the japanese animation before and after production of the animated thing itself.
So much theatrical "hate" to justify one's own stealing o_o (I do it myself, but I do not rely on justification...)
@Late I suppose but it looks like a way to interest new people to the characters while giving them enough background infos before the next game release.
By the way, strange they never mentionned any reason for this kind of justice system (for the new
public)
@TheAceofMystery @Xaessya You could avoid pointing out illegal alternatives for animation watching since this website doesn't allow us to advert videogames piracy.
I kind of cheated and watched the first episode already. From now on, I'll simply wait to watch it free on Crunchy and stop once reach the case I was on in the game (before I loose the save).
It was pleasant to see all those old GBA games elements reused for the anime, from some sound or music to panels and direction choices. I know there will be a sixth game soon and this series is like a promotion campaign to bring new peoples to the franchise by showing them the old scenari but it is a shame how it will prevent any desire to buy the actual old game (released on several platforms and pretty cheap on the 3DS e-shop even without the repeated sales).
On the other hand, all the characters looked "stuffed" when they were moving while their faces were far from pretty. I know the games use still artworks and I never really found the pictures style great but the anime doesn't look good. The finale might turn out ugly.
The ending was a lot better than the opening.
@blackbox64 The idea of providers like Crunchyroll is to bring you a translated episode a few hours/days after it was shown on its japanese TV channel. So... yes, it is subtitled. But you should first check the availability of the anime series you are interested in before paying. (they don't always have the publication rights for every country)
Be sure to understand that you would not lose anything by refusing to pay. Crunchyroll allows free watching in the lower resolution 7 days after release. It comes with short advertising spots but works well.
@Late The 24-26episodes will adapt the games up to "Justice for All".
@RainbowGazelle What about Atlus (SMT4, Code of Princess too?), Level-5/Nintendo (Guild games, Inazuma11G2 for the USA) , Capcom (Rockman 1-6 Compilation), etc... ?
About Sega themselves? Well, I still wait for the announce of a european release for their Sega 3D Classics compilations and Puyo²Tetris.

I hope you are right and we keep getting some localizations during a year and a half (more would be very strange).
Re: Nintendo 3DS Games Sure Look Pretty In High Definition
@Sakuraichu If the games are protected against copy and you had to break this security to "dump" it, then it's illegal.
Re: Parent Trap: Welcoming A Yo-Kai Into The Family
Does anyone know if the medals have an important impact on the game? Are there any medal-exclusive goods/characters or should I be able to get everything with the game alone?
I just bought the game and don't know wether I should place the jap.audio on my 2DS (who has the most empty space) or n3DS (because of the scanner).
Re: Parent Trap: Welcoming A Yo-Kai Into The Family
@GoldenGamer88 I doubt we will get the sequels too. If we had the first at the same time as America then there would be a chance for a Christmas 2016 release of the second game. But now that the NX release is announced for March, there is no chance for YW 2&3, nor Danball Senki/LBX "2" and "3".
The less costly way would be for you to find the best fit to your own 3DS among the several ways of unlocking the game card reader. (RegionFree homebrew, emulated system through modified firmware, or the last trend using some very specific bug)
Re: Fire Emblem Mobile Game Will Offer "Accessible" Yet "Engaging" Gameplay
@FierceRagnar I'm sorry to say that Sakura Taisen admirably crossed the dating game/VN genre with the T-RPG one.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th April (Europe)
Finally, Yokai Watch in Europe! Reservation made last week in my usual supermarket, now I hope the japanese audio patch will be built soon enough to enjoy the game's original voices right from the start. (I got the LBX patch only for the second playthrough)
@Piersen Better get the DS game card, it is often among Square's special sales.
Re: Yo-kai Watch and Dragon Quest Continue to Lead in Japan as Wii U Has a Small Boost
@faint Too bad, I was really interested.
Re: Yo-kai Watch and Dragon Quest Continue to Lead in Japan as Wii U Has a Small Boost
No number for the 2DS sales? I thought the console had finally reached Japan.
Re: Twilight Princess HD and Pokkén Tournament Perform Well in US NPD Charts
@ikki5 No game is worth that price when you already bought it and enjoyed it. Even if there were more differences but certainly not to get more pixels/polygones on the screen.
(same goes with Squaresoft and other companies)
Re: Yo-kai Watch 3 Coming To Nintendo 3DS In Two Fishy Flavours
@Seacliff Right, I forgot ^^". Especially with the US cat etc...
@Trinexx What kind of references? To older anime/manga ? Or is it something implemented only in the americanized version?
Re: Yo-kai Watch 3 Coming To Nintendo 3DS In Two Fishy Flavours
Meanwhile Europe will get the first opus. And probably never receives the final Inazuma Eleven Go nor the 2nd and 3rd LBX / Danball Senki...
I suppose the same thing will happen with this series: first game hugely promoted, second pretty discret, side-games and third episode never released.
PS: if only someone would hack and translate Go3 and the LBX.
@MrKenta No, it takes place in a fictional japanese suburb. They just changed it in the West to avoid hurting little westerners sensibility.
Re: Corpse Party Looks Set to Bring Some Mature Horror to the 3DS
This is likely to either be virtual only or not even released in Europe...
"there have been manga series and animations that have developed its lore further"
And a live-action movie.
Re: The Mega Man TV Show is Still Set for a 2017 release
@FragRed They are already busy with the Monster Hunter Stories animation show. (probably the same tech.qualities as Gyakuten Saiban TV)
Re: The Ace Attorney Anime Series is Waiting For You On Crunchyroll
@Arminillo My excuses but I do not understand your sentence at all.
@Zibene999 Errm... sorry for the misunderstanding but I was not referring to the old dead illegal streaming website who "stole" stolen animation (because while fansubbing is perfectly legal in itself, to deliver the episode encoded with the subs has always been illegal, be it licensed in your country or not) but to the current legal service who finances the japanese animation before and after production of the animated thing itself.
So much theatrical "hate" to justify one's own stealing o_o (I do it myself, but I do not rely on justification...)
Re: Rumour: Nintendo has Discontinued Production of Nintendo DS Cartridges Around the World
I suppose I should finish to collect all the DS titles I want before their prices rise.
Re: The Ace Attorney Anime Series is Waiting For You On Crunchyroll
@Late I suppose but it looks like a way to interest new people to the characters while giving them enough background infos before the next game release.
By the way, strange they never mentionned any reason for this kind of justice system (for the new
public)
@TheAceofMystery @Xaessya You could avoid pointing out illegal alternatives for animation watching since this website doesn't allow us to advert videogames piracy.
Re: The Ace Attorney Anime Series is Waiting For You On Crunchyroll
Re: 7th Dragon III Code: VFD Arrives in North America on 12th July
@RainbowGazelle What about Atlus (SMT4, Code of Princess too?), Level-5/Nintendo (Guild games, Inazuma11G2 for the USA) , Capcom (Rockman 1-6 Compilation), etc... ?
About Sega themselves? Well, I still wait for the announce of a european release for their Sega 3D Classics compilations and Puyo²Tetris.
