@Ralizah what made 4U messy? (uncapped framerate I assume?)
GU was great, Rise was... well, I liked it but I wished it looked in some regards of gameplay less at World (and if, they did a poor job with looking at it) or stick to what GU did best.
As for performance, I remember issues with World on PC, however many people just overreacted (I had a crappy i5 6400 with 4 threads and a 1060 at the time, game ran fine).
But Wilds... it is still a mess, World was at least fixed after a while but Wilds still runs poor on my 5700x3D and 4070 Ti, even with the messy upscalers.
They lost my goodwill with that, because the expansion to Wilds will be same performance.
Back to GU, loved it a lot just like 4U and Unite (I like World a lot, but it didn't end in my top 3).
I wish Capcom at least brought a patch for GU to make it run at 60fps on Switch 2, I don't even ask for a res bump because it looks fine at 1080p native with 4x MSAA.
@DJDano difference being that on consoles there is a reason this happens since PS4 and Xbox One.
Also, most games have a playable version on disc...
The whole point of a cartridge is that you don't need to install it, because the read speed can be much higher than with a high capacity disk like Blu-Rays.
Heck, even 15 to 20 years ago games on PC didn't run from a DVD or CD most of the time for same reason.
Nintendo could have gone full digital or keep the old situation intact, yet they came up with the GKC abomination.
Even if GKC didn't exist, Switch 2 has 256gb of storage and uses pretty pricey memory cards, while games got significantly larger too.
I complained for same reasons about XSX and it's super expensive external storage solutions, while on PS5 you can at least put in a cheap PCIE 4.0 SSD to expand your storage.
But Xbox was always a issue on that regard, while Sony went the other way (you even had tutorials how to easily replace a HDD in PS3 and PS4)
GKC being a fake physical is just part of the problem honestly, the picture is much bigger than that.
@KociolekDoSyta
"Should be the opposite, right? GKC for smaller indie studios, full physical releases for big publishers. It's the way it should be, but it's not because of the greed and their "strategies" (to get more money)."
@ShadLink and yet I would prefer the old situation.
Code in a Box/Digital only vs real physical was fine, if I didn't like digital only I could always get it on PC instead, which was rare for me because storage on Switch was cheaper too and games smaller.
Physical was something I got for games I knew I really wanted.
And now, now I have to check multiple sources online just to know for sure if a Switch 2 game is a GKC or not (extremely annoying with preorder imports), because sadly not all devs are honest.
Storage is another reason, it's great Switch 2 has 256gb internal storage now, but the new memory cards are more expensive too.
And Switch 2 games got significantly bigger too, so while on OG Switch it was rare for me to skip a game that was digital only due to storage reasons, on Switch 2 that is reality for me.
And sure the memory cards will get cheaper, but for all those larger games that came before that eventual drop it will be too late for me, because I by then already picked the platform to play it on.
It is pure nonsense GKC cards exist, we don't need them and devs that claim otherwise just try to justify them.
They leave a bad aftertaste, it is a fake physical while with code in a box or digital only it still may be sad for some, but at least it is clear what it is and what it tries to be.
(To make this more clear, I have seen multiple Switch 2 preorders in shops that never made clear the game would be a GKC because even the store didn't know until the copies came in)
And while I am not a environment activist, I do hate waste of resources and GKC is doing that, it is "99%" same thing as real physical game but lacking full data on cartridge makes it a waste.
I wanted to be positive about GKC at first, but the moment japanese devs started to come up with nonsense why "they need it" (just go digital seems never to come up in their mind), the people online that started to justify it for the most nonsensical reasons and 3rd party devs leaning on it way too much...
...I started to dislike them, and that is fine if I don't like them but someone else does like them.
But there is no way to justify the GKC crap, unless someone just doesn't care, and that is why they exist.
Said enough, I fear this will be a never ending discussion.
@Ogbert in other words, you don't agree but don't want to admit it.
Fine by me, opinions exist.
Facts too.
P.S. you deliberately picked that McDonalds example
So now I will deliberately comment on that with same type of nonsensical comment.
GameKeyCards is someone going to McDonalds and wanting regular cola (true physical game), but they only sell diet/light (digital game) or cola cola life ones because "reasons".
Their claim is that Cola Life is same thing, because there is sugar in it.
But also sweetners... so flavour wise it is same as light/diet, but more unhealthy because of sugar.
GKC is coca cola life, it pretends to be a normal cola (physical game) but it has sweetners and doesn't taste like regular cola (it downloads the game, there is no game on the cartridge)
(for people that don't know what cola cola life is, google it because it is a ridicoulusly stupid product)
Of course in real life they sold all 3 variants (at least here)
(Cola Cola Life is discontinued for reason btw, it flopped)
Coca Cola Life doesn't make any sense just like GKC don't.
Regular cola has it's flavour because it uses only sugar (in europe) but is more unhealthy because of that, and coca cola light/diet doesn't have any sugar, has it's own flavour and has nearly zero calories
Cola Cola Life has both, it is unhealthy like the regular one, but has the flavour of light/diet.
Just pick regular or diet/light then.
But Nintendo insists that Cola Life is the same thing.
(sigh)
Difference is that above is a stupid comment on purpose, GKC does exist, real cartridges do too, and digital games are a thing to stay.
Nintendo could make the cartridges cheaper, or give different file size variants, because not all games need 64gb cartridges.
@kmtrain83 Only benefit of having a physical game be fully on disc with Playstation 4 and 5, and XBO and XSX is that you have the game on disc, even if the servers go down.
The game must install, Blu-ray discs have pretty slow read speeds, even on PS4 such game had faster read times after being installed on the hard drive.
Even worse with PS5, the SSD in that thing has read speeds of above 5500MB/s (the blu-ray in PS5 has a read speed of around 29MB/s)
So installing the game is mandatory.
Cartridges on both Switch 1 and 2 are fast enough to be read directly from it, you don't need to install the game if the game is fully on the cartridge.
So the benefit of that is that you save space by going physical on Switch 1 and 2.
@BBBBBBBBBBB much faster NAND does exist for less money.
So Switch 2 carts being faster is not why they are more expensive.
As for MicroSD Express format, it was near dead because nobody in the professional world (what it was meant for) did care about it, that is why we have so little choice, because nobody wanted to invest in a inferior format if there are better and faster solutions, that do the same thing.
But while I don't see Nintendo drop the cartridge price (because Nintendo), the MicroSD Express cards will get cheaper at some point now that Switch 2 is using them.
You could argue Switch 2 pulled MicroSD Express from it's coffin before that one was closed.
@Ogbert "Key cards are just providing you another option"
Going to try this only once, because for some reason I still think you miss the point massively.
They are a option for people that don't care or don't mind lack of physical media.
GKC do not contain a physical game, they download it based on the verification key on the cartridge.
Because of that they are not a option for people that want a game to be truly physical.
(the following is not meant to who I was replying to)
AND BEFORE SOMEONE STARTS ABOUT "SO YOU NEVER BUY DIGITAL GAMES".
That was not the point
Point is that digital games are digital games
True physical games are just that
And GKC are digital games trying to act like a fake physical one, they cost less to make than physical games, more than purely digital one, but have only one small benefit, you can put the box on your shelf.
I just rather see a developer drop any type of physical cartridges if they even get the idea to waste money on something fake like GKC, go full physical or go full digital (or do both), but don't do this kind of BS.
@Anti-Matter hard to tell, I have seen games claim they need a download on the box, but the game was fully there minus a day one patch.
And I have seen games that don't say anything and download everything instead.
But considering the game has to install anyhow on the PS5 and XSX, most people are fine with that (I am not, but considering we rarely buy PS5 games that is not such a huge issue for us)
@BBBBBBBBBBB Switch 2 cartridges are NAND flash, same thing used in many other type of memory cards.
@MasterGraveheart "the next question is: What's the cost difference between a 64GB card and a Game Key Card."
Nobody truly knows the price of the GameKeyCard, but I have seem some people on Discord claim it should be around "half the price" of the regular 64gb cartridge.
This because the only difference is that the real cartridge has 64gb of NAND flash, while the GKC has less than 100mb for the key, all the other cost are same.
But no real proof about GKC as of yet.
Talking about Switch 2 cartridges, Nintendo went cheap and ditches the Macronix Rom NOR flash technology used in Switch 1 cartridges, they use now NAND Flash.
The difference? Cheaper for Nintendo, also the latter can lose data over time (roughly 10 years) if you don't use it, so at some point sealed game copies will lose value a lot the moment you unseal them, because there is a chance the cartridge will not even work.
Switch 1 are double that, but still nothing compared to true MaskROM from the old days.
If you as a publisher are willing to spend money on having your game be, put on a physical plastic cartridge, in a box, with printed text on the cover, shipped from the factory to many regions worldwide.
While the cartridge contains ONLY a verification key to DOWNLOAD the game.
Why waste money on doing that? Just go full on digtal, you don't waste any money on fake physical goods.
And if you are willing to bring out physically, do it properly.
And I know defenders will call out that "cartridges are 16 dollar each".
And I will not be claiming "well, I pay the difference to have that game physically", I would pay that but I am the minority.
No, Nintendo should have made more cartridge sizes instead, Switch had them in mutliple sizes from 1gb to 32gb (1,2,4,8,16,32).
Switch 2 is only 64gb, nothing more and nothing less.
So if anything I blame not only the publishers for wasting money on fake physical games (GKC), but I also blame Nintendo for doing this.
And it's not only GKC I complain about, I would do the same on PS5 and Xbox for doing fake physical games, however on those systems that is not by design (GameKeyCard is made by Nintendo on purpose).
On PS and Xbox the blu-rays are so dirt cheap that some companies just put a download key to download the game, because you have to install the game anyhow, the games are not read from the disc while playing compared to 2000s.
Switch does read directly from the cartridge so that benefit is still there.
Anyhow GKC or blurays with download keys are same thing for me, I wouldn't buy them because they don't make sense to own.
I rather get a game digitally then if physical is not a option, problem in my and my partner case is that we are gamers that game on all systems, but mostly Nintendo and PC, and we tend to pick some games on Switch mainly because you can play them portable and because the are physical.
Now that the second thing will be less common on the Switch 2 because of GKC, there is a higher chance we will rather get some games on PC instead, unless we REALLY want to play it in portable.
(and I don't mind the Switch 2 it's poor quality screen, I have seen worse than that)
Now as a bonus, what makes GKC even worse is that the games are larger because Switch 2 can handle more, but we get only 256gb and the memory cards Switch 2 uses are pricey and (at this moment) have poor availability.
No idea how the situation is on Xbox (our last Xbox was the 360), but on PS5 you can get a cheapo 1TB PCIE 4.0 SSD for peanuts and upgrade it that way (just checked, they start at 55 euro without and 70 euro with a heatsink for 1tb, Switch 2 memory cards are 60 euro for 256gb and there are no bigger ones here yet)
So on Playstation you could upgrade the storage for cheap (we don't need to, we uninstall games when we finish playing them)
Hitman and Street Fighter 6 are already around half of your Switch 2 storage, and those sizes will not be a exception when more 3rd party games come out on Switch 2.
And while Switch 1 had only 32gb of storage (64gb on OLED), memory cards for that are cheaper and physical games are often for the most part fully on the cartridge.
At this point, how stupid it may sound.
I wish the Switch 2 was digital only, I could accept that a bit more (I would still hate it compared to physical games) than the whole clown show the game key cards are... the fake physical media.
@Rosona "he isn't saying sell Switch 2, you have twisted it to state that."
I am not twisting his words, but it is the only logical conclusion to "Don't like them? don't buy them!".
Because not buying GKC means digital is the only way, but considering most people that dislike GKC don't want digital games either.
Means they don't buy the games
And if they accept the GKC or a digital game, then this whole problem doesn't exist for them, which is fine.
That is why "Don't like them? don't buy them!" is not a real option with the Switch 2 if one is against GKC, the only two options like I said before is to accept digital version or GKC, or not get the games.
But if you skip so many games, is there a reason to have the Switch 2 for Switch 2 games?
I got Switch 2 mainly for the Nintendo titles and because it gives a good performance boost to some Switch 1 games, but I will be buying much less games on Switch 2 because of GKC (I already explained that in my other comment if you read that)
So no, you read wrong what I meant, so this is my more dumbded down explanation.
@Ogbert By your logic I should sell my Switch 2 then, and many other people too.
Because "don't like them, don't buy them" doesn't apply here.
If I want a physical copy of Mario Kart World and not the digital one, "don't like the digital copy? don't buy that and get physical one" would apply.
But for example with other games like Yakuza 0 that option is not there, digital copy is digital, and game key card is... also digital, but they waste resources on a box and plastic cartridge that doesn't contain the game on it instead.
So... don't get the game at all then? Seems so, and thus I would have to drop Switch 2 and many other people too.
See, I don't always mind digital games, I have some digital games on my Switch 1, because I choose to buy them digitally.
Doesn't apply to the other 100+ games I got physically (and no you will not find Assassin's Creed, Borderlands Collection and so on in between my physical games, because they are not complete on the cartridge, so I got them digitally)
Because I made that choice on Switch 1
Because I had that choice on Switch 1 (I also imported a ton of games too)
But with Switch 2 that option is not there, don't like it = don't buy it logic means = don't buy it, but 90%+ will be game key card so deal with it or sell your Switch 2.
Simple as that, there is no choice if you don't like it except selling the Switch 2 or accepting it.
For now I was only interested in 2 games, Rune Factory and Mario Kart World so I got that.
But the moment I see more game key cards pop up for games that I really want, I will ask myself the question if I want the digital one on Switch, or on PC.
And considering both are digital, the benefit of having a physical copy on Switch 2 will not apply (and I bought many Switch games on Switch 1 because portable play AND physical).
So I will start looking at things like "do I want to play this portable and if yes, does it have to be on Switch 2?"
No option for true physical will make me buy less Switch 2 games, but I know I am the minority and most people will buy these games without issues, game key card or not.
This is why I ignored all Switch 2 "leaks", because I knew 90% of them is "trowing stuff at the wall to see what sticks".
I follow a lot of tech news and gaming news, fake rumors are a problem everywhere.
If anything I wouldn't blame digital foundry for the wrong info, I blame them for the stupidity to even bother giving attention to any leaks like that.
(reminds me of iPhone leaks where "next iphone will be foldable" and "next base iphone is getting 120hz screen")
Switch 1 games being blurry is a different issue (720p display on Switch 1 vs 1080p on Switch 2)
Pixel perfect for 720p would mean 1440p on Switch 2, but 1080p ÷ 4 = 540p, so you would indeed need some better upscaling tech to solve that.
(PS Vita it's display was exactly 4x that of the PSP, so PSP game looked excellent on Vita display. PSTV however had 480p, 720p and 1080i output so PSP games on that looked blurry)
But another issue is that the Nintendo list that claims compatibility of games, is not accurate.
By that list we have less than 5 games that shouldn't work or would have issues, and yet I already had more than 15 games that have issues on Switch 2, but are not on that list.
Sure, niche games but still.
(We have more than 170 Switch games physically, and I only tested physical games)
Didn't bother to test more, my trust in the backwards compatibility is gone so I took my Switch off from sale and keep it in case Nintendo doesn't fix it.
@slytherin_real well I have that game on PC and Switch, but Rhythm Festival has some serious issues on Switch 2 (unless the recent patch fixed that) so I tried Drum n Fun which while being older, works fine on Switch 2.
At first I though the game had compatibility issues, then I put my Switch 2 in Dock and everything was fine, tried on Switch 1 and the blur was less on Switch it's own display.
But I find the blur much more annoying in Hatsune Miku due to that game it's gameplay.
Still, Nintendo made a huge blunder with the display, I could have accepted if it was same "meh" one from Switch 2017, but being worse, having VRR that works "when it wants to" and non existent HDR.
Yeah, that's a messup, but again I play mostly in dock so I can live with it.
But this time I will upgrade if they release a new model with better display, didn't do that with OLED and maybe for the better, because I would probably be much harsher on Switch 2 display if my previous Switch was OLED and not the 2017 V1 I have.
And I am not a display snob or framerate snob (I prefer stable 30fps than messy 60fps that certain games never achieve on Switch), but I immediately see if a game or display is too blurry and can't unsee it, kinda jealous of people that can ignore that.
@Exerion76 main reason I am hesitant to talk about this, on other sites I immediately got attacked that I am a "PC elitist that plays at 1000fps on a 1000hz screen while not seeing the difference"
(1000hz screens don't even exist for consumers yet)
I am a PC and handheld gamer first, guess which handhelds I had for the most part of my life?
Nintendo
And while my PC has a capable GPU and my monitor is 120hz, I don't mine stable 30fps at all in games, and I often buy games for my Switch even if they are the worst version, just because I prefer some games on a Switch than my PC.
But no, you can not have any criticism even if you are bigger fan of something than the people that attack you.
I didn't fully understand the problems with Switch 2 display until I started playing faster games, especially rhythm games.
My 2017 Switch wasn't perfect, but somehow the blur is less on that than on Switch 2 so there is a issue it seems, even in a slower game like BotW you can see the issue (and people that claim they don't see anything, be happy, the issue is there even if you don't see it so be happy you don't see it because it's annoying like hell)
It's that 80% of the time I play on my fast IPS monitor so I don't mind Switch it's display that much.
The blur on my LCD Steam Deck is much less compared to Switch v1 and Switch 2, which is ironical because that screen has it's own share of issues.
Couldn't compare to OLED recently because I never had one, but I did see Miku on Switch OLED when that model launched and the image is on the level of PS Vita 1000 (also with Miku games tested) which is excellent.
(Kinda funny how over the top PS Vita 1000 was for it's time, having OLED and hall effect joysticks in 2011)
"So all in all, the Switch 2's battery is about what you'd expect from a console of this calibre, putting it in line with other powerful handhelds like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally."
Original Deck yes, not OLED one (you can squeez 9 to 10 hours on a charge with Sonic Mania, Stardew Valley or VN's)
But also let's not ignore the Switch OLED, I expected the Switch 2 to do better with OG Switch games, but it seems it is still nowhere close the Switch V2 or Switch OLED.
I don't mind it not being a OLED, I am fine with a good IPS screen.
Also some people have PWM issues caused by OLED screens.
Problem is, colours are fine on Switch 2 screen, VRR is fine-ish.
HDR is trash, I don't understand why Nintendo gives us a option for HDR on the console with how it looks, it is just as bad as HDR on my two LG PC monitors (HDR400, aka the trashy one)
All monitors have HDR nowdays, HDR400 being the one you can ignore, and I don't use HDR on my monitors because I never got them for that (fast response time is why I got them, they are IPS)
But I can live with bad HDR on the Switch, honestly only my phone and tablet have good hdr (S23 and Tab S9).
But the screen on the Switch is slow, the reponse time is visibly slow especially with games above 60fps (like Yakuza 0).
And VRR is not going to save that, it is not as slow as OG Switch is (I upgrades from the v1 Switch to Switch 2), but it definitely isn't as good as it could be.
While digital is the future, Nintendo proved multiple times they casually switch the store off.
I can download my Vita games and even buy them as of now (got mine in 2012)
Same with PS3 (have one since 2009)
Same with Steam (made my account somewhere in 2008)
And while Sony wanted to shut down PSN for Vita and PS3, you would still be able to redownload the stuff you bought like with the PSP when Sony shut that store years ago.
More funny is that online games still work if the servers are up for a certain game, while on my 3ds the moment Nintendo turned that off, all games using online lost that functionality, even the 3rd party ones.
I love Nintendo and their games, but the moment the go full digital I stop buying their games, unless they finally look at others how it should be done.
If anything, Nintendo is not Sony where PS3 got Persona 5 when PS4 was already few years old, and where PS4 is still getting games while PS5 is now also few years old.
I see Nintendo repeat what happened to the 3DS.
Is that bad? Depends how you look at it, the 3ds library is pretty large and even today I keep buying games on it I have never play before.
The whole charm of japanese games is, because they are japanese.
Making them appeal to western people is just as weird as me going to japan, and instead of getting japanese food, I get pasta, pizza, fish and chips or hamburgers.
Most japanese games have these issues, but especially visual novels get the hardest hits lately, not only by changing or removing content.
Fun idea but no thx, in this day and age were everything needs a app, I try to minimise the amount of apps on my phone, and do as much as possible via the browser.
Nearly half of the stuff I can not even play because Pokémon Company thinks Benelux is 1 country (just because Belgium doesn't allow something, doesn't mean The Netherlands is doing the same thing exact same way)
I expect Champions to end up same way.
Z-A looks sadly as expected, sadly being like S&V graphics wise.
But content wise I expect a lot from it so that's a buy for me.
Depends on the person, at home I use my Steam Deck just fine which is bigger.
On the go however... I have seen people with a Switch or Steam Deck in public transit, I find the regular Switch (without my switch pad pro, but with OG joy cons) too large to have with me, New 3DS XL and PS Vita being the last handhelds I always had (one of the two) with me.
But again it depends what is "too large" and when, at home I don't think the Switch successor will be too large for me.
@RiasGremory didn't play that game (I don't like MK), but I remember seeing it on Digital Foundry and wondering why they did even bother porting it in that state.
@LadyCharlie But at what price do they run on the Switch.
Doom Eternal has plenty of issues in later levels and on higher difficulty, which is a problem with base 30fps.
Nier Automata also has issues, luckily the game itself is less hectic so it's less of a issue.
Witcher 3 while running at roughly 540p is probably the best one out of those 3, played all 3 games but Witcher 3 is very consistent in it's performance.
It's a bit tiresome to see people mention how those "impossible ports" exist on the Switch, totally ignoring at what price they are on that system.
(After playing most of the impossible ports on Switch, I would argue Doom shouldn't even be on the Switch because it pays a way to high price to exist on that system, while with Nier and Witcher 3 the gameplay is different and less problematic at poor performance)
Lollipop Chainsaw runs bad for how it looks, this is bad but was to be expected, however with the right choices 60fps lock should be possible.
Is it a lazy port? Let me state this, the whole game is a pretty lazy attempt no matter the system it is on, with the Switch version being worst offender.
Don't get me wrong, I understand the companies not wanting this to happen, but in japan it goes so far that some people don't even stream certain games over there, because there is a chance you could end up with a high fine or worse.
Because "you damage a company behind the game with it".
While same games are being streamed in the west and nobody bats an eye, it is really bad in japan itself.
But it is just me worrying for no reason it could flop because "it looks like Switch" and it ends up in same mess Wii U did? (a "gamepad for the Wii" issue)
Civ 6 was a lot of fun on the Switch...until I got a Steam Deck.
Performance aside (I can live with that no issue on the Switch), having touchpads on a handheld made the experience perfect for me, so even other PC handhelds could not give me same experience the Deck did.
That doesn't mean Switch port is bad, I think it is excellent considering the hardware, and getting Civ 7 on Switch is great too (but remember, it will have some restrictions other platforms will not have)
Problem with rating classifications is that you can have two individuals look at a game differently, and rate it different.
I do hope PEGI and ESRB are not as messy as game classification on Steam (some people that rate if a game may or may not release on Steam hate anything anime, but would be fine with a 18+ western game containing "adult" scenes, even while the anime game they just refused was more tame than Witcher 3...)
Anyhow, Steam is sadly a more extreme example (as a PC and handheld gamer, I deal a lot with them just like Nintendo for my games to play)
But it did happen a few times that rating boards (ESRB and PEGI for example) refused a game for baffling reasons.
@geo-shifter last part is true, I rather play my games on my PC/Switch + other handhelds instead.
But I did make a exception for Pokémon GO and Kairosoft games on mobile, that's all play on it excluding emulation.
@jojobar you don't need a expensive phone to play games like Genshin, anything with a Helio G99 and above is fine, and you can find that chip in cheap Motorola and Samaung phones for less than 130 euro brand new.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC Scores December Release Date
Massively disappointed with this DLC.
Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet both had a 35 euro DLC, and each did add 2 new maps and stories (liked the maps of S&S more)
Now we get a 30 euro DLC, with a "re-coloured" existing map and that's it plus some a story.
I wouldn't call this greedy, just sad and incompetent. Seems the rather rush it than let it cook until February 28th to give us REAL content.
Z-A was fun, but I am fully skipping this cash grab.
Re: Surprise! Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Arrives Next Year
Don't really care about 4k 30fps myself (I use my Switch 2 exclusively with my monitor that is 1440p anyhow)
Still nice to see, but I hope they add a 1080p/1440p 60fps mode, that would make the experience much nicer honestly.
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Sales Hit The Brakes So Hard Last Quarter, Even 'Rise' Outsold It
@Ralizah what made 4U messy? (uncapped framerate I assume?)
GU was great, Rise was... well, I liked it but I wished it looked in some regards of gameplay less at World (and if, they did a poor job with looking at it) or stick to what GU did best.

Re: Rumour: Silent Hill 2 May Be Coming To Switch 2 As Its Exclusivity Window Ends
@KociolekDoSyta
"Should be the opposite, right? GKC for smaller indie studios, full physical releases for big publishers. It's the way it should be, but it's not because of the greed and their "strategies" (to get more money)."
That is the true irony of it all.
Re: Rumour: Silent Hill 2 May Be Coming To Switch 2 As Its Exclusivity Window Ends
Re: Video: SEGA Shares "First Look" At Yakuza Kiwami 3's Combat Gameplay
Hmm GKC, fine by me.
Gives me more reason to get it on PC then (cheaper storage, Switch 2 memory cards are still rather expensive)
Re: Square Enix Rules Out Switch 2 "Upgrade Path" For Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
Thanks for making the choice for me, having the S1 version fully on the cartridge gives the biggest push.
Wish more people had same thinking, then GKC would disappear quickly from existence.
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
(sigh again)
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
@Rosona Then sorry I can not explain it any better, if you are so fixated on telling me I twist their words.
Then there is little I can do about that, your opinion.
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
@Anti-Matter hard to tell, I have seen games claim they need a download on the box, but the game was fully there minus a day one patch.
And I have seen games that don't say anything and download everything instead.
But considering the game has to install anyhow on the PS5 and XSX, most people are fine with that (I am not, but considering we rarely buy PS5 games that is not such a huge issue for us)
@BBBBBBBBBBB Switch 2 cartridges are NAND flash, same thing used in many other type of memory cards.
So now new magical technology here.
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
@Anti-Matter Marvelous explained that a while ago to someone on reddit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NSCollectors/comments/1l8upv6/marvelous_statement_about_rune_factory_switch_2/?share_id=oTB9ZzFvGMNySWjdiUdTU&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
@rjejr It's not that simple
I am not against digital games
But I am against BS like GKC.
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
Re: Furukawa's Defence Of Game-Key Cards Ain't All That Convincing
Precisely what Nintendo wants.
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
@RiasGremory mwah
Which in theory is more harsh too
Re: UK Charts: There's No Stopping Mario Kart World And Switch 2
Surprising to see Raidou sell more on Switch 2, stores haves a ton of Switch 2 copies here, but all Switch 1 copies are sold out everywhere here.
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
@slytherin_real
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
(Kinda funny how over the top PS Vita 1000 was for it's time, having OLED and hall effect joysticks in 2011)
Re: Pikmin 3 Deluxe's New Update Fixes Screen Flicker Issue When Playing On Switch 2
@FortniteJ the problem is that multiple Switch 2 compatible Switch 1 games have some issues, while Nintendo their list claims not.
According to their list 2 games in our collection have issues, and 1 just doesn't work at all.
I have already tried multiple more niche physical games that gave me issues on Switch 2, that are not on the list.
I didn't even try all of our games, and found already 10 with weird issues.
And we have more than 170 physical Switch games, from which a lot of more niche ones like VNs.
Re: Review: RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery Of The Soulless Army (Switch 2) - A Unique, Action-RPG Take On The SMT Formula

@abisales because Sega is just like that, and Atlus doesn't even have a choice because Sega dictates.

Re: Gulikit Claims To Be The First Third Party Supporting Wake-Up Functionality On Switch 2
No reason to defend Nintendo but... wakeup functionality on Switch 1 uses RF, not BT.
And that is why OG Pro controller doesn't support it on Switch 2.
I had the Switch 2 Pro controller few days and sold it like new to a friend for 60 euro (new ones are 90 euro here)
Why? Everyone is praising how quiet the Pro 2 Controller is, and that is true.
At the cost of button press feedback feeling mushy.
Went back to my old Switch Pro controller, will miss the wakeup and 3.5mm, but the mushy feedback makes is unusable for me.
And it wasn't just my unit, I tried 2 other and they are exactly the same, it's by design it seems.
It does feel better in hand though due to different materials.
Re: Video: We Put The Switch 2's Battery Through Its Paces With A Full Timelapse
Re: Disgaea 7 Complete Is Launching Exclusively On Switch 2 In The West
Game key card, meh
@AgentMantis 7 was way more fun that 6, but I liked 1, 3 and 5 more.
Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Switch 2's Screen? Because Some People Certainly Aren't
Re: Switch 2 Game-Key Cards Aren't Tied To Nintendo Accounts
Re: Switch 2 GameChat Choppy Frame Rate Explained By Nintendo
I would use voice only anyhow, the videochat is distractingly choppy compared to the running game.
Re: Nintendo Understands Switch Owners May Not Be "Ready To Jump To Switch 2"
If anything, Nintendo is not Sony where PS3 got Persona 5 when PS4 was already few years old, and where PS4 is still getting games while PS5 is now also few years old.
I see Nintendo repeat what happened to the 3DS.
Is that bad? Depends how you look at it, the 3ds library is pretty large and even today I keep buying games on it I have never play before.
But that's about it
Re: Nier Automata's Dev Was "Ordered" To Ignore What The West Thinks Of His Game

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?
Depends on the person, at home I use my Steam Deck just fine which is bigger.
On the go however... I have seen people with a Switch or Steam Deck in public transit, I find the regular Switch (without my switch pad pro, but with OG joy cons) too large to have with me, New 3DS XL and PS Vita being the last handhelds I always had (one of the two) with me.
But again it depends what is "too large" and when, at home I don't think the Switch successor will be too large for me.
Re: Review: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP (Switch) - This Choppy Remaster Of A Cult Gem Doesn't Bring Any Cheer
@RiasGremory didn't play that game (I don't like MK), but I remember seeing it on Digital Foundry and wondering why they did even bother porting it in that state.
Re: Review: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP (Switch) - This Choppy Remaster Of A Cult Gem Doesn't Bring Any Cheer

My personal opinions about "Notch" aside (he is a beyond toxic guy)
I don't think he can make a true "Minecraft 2" because he also sold the rights to the game to Microsoft.
At best it will be some rip off, but time will tell.
@Anti-Matter , never liked Portal Knights, but both Dragon Quest games I did a lot.
Re: Man Caught Selling Hacked Pokémon Sun Save Data Arrested By Japanese Police
@ikki5 it is sad how far it can go.
Re: Eagle-Eyed Fans Think They've Spotted The First 'Switch 2' Image In New Satisfye Trailer
I want the Switch follow-up to be a big succes.
But it is just me worrying for no reason it could flop because "it looks like Switch" and it ends up in same mess Wii U did? (a "gamepad for the Wii" issue)
Re: Firaxis "Hadn't Expected" Civilization VI's Success On Switch
Civ 6 was a lot of fun on the Switch...until I got a Steam Deck.
Performance aside (I can live with that no issue on the Switch), having touchpads on a handheld made the experience perfect for me, so even other PC handhelds could not give me same experience the Deck did.
That doesn't mean Switch port is bad, I think it is excellent considering the hardware, and getting Civ 7 on Switch is great too (but remember, it will have some restrictions other platforms will not have)
Re: Bullet-Hell Shmup Refused Classification In The West Over 'Expression Restrictions'
Re: 50 Best Nintendo DS Games Of All Time
@AmplifyMJ I have that one on the DS, but I like the Vita one a bit more gameplay wise.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For LEGO Horizon Adventures
@Overzeal the price probably plays a role too.
Switch version goes for 50 euro here physically, steam and ps5 (physical) go for 70 euro.
Re: Pokémon Unite Developer Releasing New Monster Hunter Game For Mobile Devices
Re: Palworld Developer Details Patent Infringement Claims From Nintendo's Lawsuit
@Dr_Lugae after scrolling through comments, most people still forget about that part.
Tells a lot how carefully most people read, saw same issues on other news sites and Reddit too.
