@CANOEberry You can't just throw out nonsense and then label any reply contrary to what you posted as being "trolling" just because you don't like it. That's anti-discussion and defeats the entire purpose of posting in a public comment section.
As a company, Nintendo sucks, but discontinuing support for a product older than over half the Switch's playerbase is the natural course of things for any tech company, not just Nintendo.
@kalosn If Nintendo has demonstrated anything in the last 20 years, it's that they have no reservations digging up an old chip to power their new console. May I remind you the Wii U's CPU was basically three overclocked original Wii cores, which itself was an overclocked GameCube core.
I like DF, but man does John get exhausting to listen to when he complains about LCDs. He acts like LCD tech of today is the same as it was back in 1995, where it was borderline unusable.
@solarwolf07 The problem with the Wii U wasn't that they made another, more powerful Wii; it was that they marketed it like dogSH, and gave it a variety of gimmicks but never committed to any one as a signature feature.
Having no games outside a handful of noteworthy exclusives didn't help.
@KBuckley27 They only have so many in house developers to spare, and games like modern Zelda and 3D Mario take huge amounts of time, money, and manpower. It's only logical they'd bring in outside studios to bolster their output.
@TheBigK If it really is just another Switch with a couple added bells and whistles, it could still hit those 3DS numbers. Not especially impressive compared to the DS and its Switch-like success, but still a solid showing.
@LadyCharlie Based on what exactly? Even the people cheering on BG3 could still admit the show was a bit of crapshow, and I don't see why this site would be any different.
@PinderSchloss If anything, it's the Spider-Man 2 fans who are sour. They can't stop talking about how the game was "robbed," whereas Alan Wake and TOTK fans appear to have collectively taken the L and moved on.
Personally the open world format never blew my hair back, but it's always been on brand for this series to reinvent itself to suit the times. We'll probably get something more traditional at some point to placate traditional fans, even if it's a spin-off title handled by the B team. It's not like this company doesn't have the coffers to fund it.
I'd only pick this up after many patches and a steep discount. A few stutters here and there are one thing, but the way it runs when you're in the Batmobile is unacceptable.
@AJWolfTill No way Metroid ISN'T a Switch game still. That's a 130 million strong player base paired with a series that historically needs all the help it can get selling copies. They'd be leaving money on the table. Cross-gen or bust.
@Arawn93 Again, that is 30-flipping-hours of game. If it can't hook me or give me a reason to keep playing in that amount of time, sorry, I ain't gonna keep playing it. Skyrim hooked me in the first hour; BOTW hooked me in the first hour; GTA V hooked me in the first hour. If anything, 30 hours is way generous to give to a game you're not enjoying.
I don't expect people to look to me for an enlightened opinion on a game I didn't finish, but if someone asks me why I didn't finish it, I'll tell them all about those first 30 hours that failed to grab me.
@the_beaver Sorry but this is terrible logic. 30 hours for a game is a lot, especially if you have a life and a job. Personally, if I'm not liking a game 30 hours in, I'm DEFINITELY not putting in another 30 just to see if it gets good later on.
There's just too much else out there to play.
@Sciqueen Because there's nothing to criticize; it's a harmless award that doesn't affect your life in any way. You went out of your way to be negative.
@Giancarlothomaz When you think about it, there's been a pattern for the last twenty years where Nintendo will have two generations of similar performance, then a massive leap. GameCube to Wii was marginal, but Wii to Wii U was massive; Wii U to Switch was marginal, but Switch to Switch 2? It does activate the almonds.
@Keman At the same time, why is it so hard to believe that in 2023 we might possibly get something at least approaching the power of PS4? It's a ten-year gap, which might I remind you was the same story with the current Switch: roughly Xbox 360 1.5 levels of power in a handheld; the 360 was 10 years prior to the Switch itself.
@Bolt_Strike Because the Switch entries are making more money than God and Nintendo's not going to want to undermine that in any way. This is the same company that refuses to even acknowledge that the Switch has a successor in the works because of the fact it's printing money still.
@HalBailman If Switch 2 is backwards compatible, the controllers would need exact feature parity with the Joy-Cons, because at a bare minimum certain parts of BOTW become unbeatable without gyro.
Besides, gyro > analog sticks for console shooters all day.
Hopefully this translates to purchases carrying over, because I'm certainly not concerned with whether or not my pile of unused platinum points comes with me so I can unlock more jpeg's on the new console.
Good to hear that the port is decent. I'll probably play my PC version some before I make any decision to buy it on Switch, because I hear the humor and dialogue in this is dreadful.
@Serpenterror I think at this point they just don't want to. If they figured out people wanted Bluetooth audio, and started offering free Joy-Con repairs to combat drift, they're likely aware of themes. It's a can't/won't situation.
@Deady It doesn't matter if God himself was commissioned to port the game, it's hard not to feel ripped off when they're asking $70+tax for a version of the game that looks and runs like soupy feces compared to its counterpart versions. It's a value proposition, and a terrible one.
I somehow doubt the 100-year-old entertainment company is about to let themselves be bought up by a company whose gaming products are essentially technological leprosy to the Japanese market.
@Truegamer79 If it isn't finished, maybe they shouldn't be charging up to $100 for it yet. The second you start taking people's money is the second you become open to any and all critique.
@dustinprewitt I meant in terms of Nintendo making games for PlayStation and Xbox; you'd have a better chance of that happening than seeing the feces and gore squirrel game show up on NSO. :V
@Chaotic_Neutral Something tells me they won't. Switch and Wii proved they can sell hardware en masse without needing to compete in specs, GameCube's failure scared them off, plus they already consolidated their handheld and console divisions into one workflow.
I'm just glad the issue has become seemingly large enough for even the biggest fanboys to shift their responses from "Joy-Con drift isn't an issue, you're just treating them bad!" to "Well, it hasn't happen to ME..."
It's a small thing, but man was the discussion surrounding this frustrating.
This is where having options is key. An un-dockable Switch will always be a non-starter for me, but it's nice that handheld-only players don't need to be forced to pay the extra $100 for a feature they'd never use.

Re: Nintendo's New Princess Peach Game Appears To Be Powered By Unreal Engine
Unreal always worries me because it rarely plays well with Switch hardware, but Pikmin 4 also ran on UE4, so we'll see.

I'm just surprised Sega remembered the spikey swirly thing from the original Shadow the Hedgehog logo.
