Re: Soapbox: Pokémon X & Y - The Series' Greatest Paradoxes

Pat_trick

For me X and Y represent the beginning of the end of Pokémon. Every gen had different qualities and flaws, but always tried to push the series forward with new ideas. With X and Y the gimmick era starts, Mega Evolutions, Z moves, Dynamax, Terrastalization. Presented in one generation and forgotten in the next, gamefreak gave up on developing the series and focused on marketable gameplay "innovations".
They also took the battle towers away, diminishing the post-game and ignoring the people who play these games for the challenging battles.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Briefed Activision On 'Switch 2' Back In 2022

Pat_trick

I hope it's not true. I know the focus of the switch is not graphical fidelity, but being on the level of consoles released in 2013 is pretty pathetic. The Switch already suffers with performance with a lot of 3rd party games, releasing a new console this weak in the middle of this gen would make it very limited on 3rd party support. It was the downfall of some of their other consoles.

Re: Round Up: Developers React To Unity's New 'Runtime Fee' Policy

@Cashews These people have families too and Unity might be causing a lot of people to lose their source of income.
I might not affect you directly but it does affect a lot of people who have families and jobs.
Also you don't care if people live under a bridge? Really? You're ok with people being homeless. Maybe read about the subject a little bit, gather information and then after that form an opinion instead of spitting bile against people you don't know.
I never met you, I didn't like your attitude in this post yet I would never wish for you or your family to be homeless.

Re: Feature: 'Break The Game' Tells Speedrunner Narcissa Wright’s Story Through The Language Of Zelda

@EarthboundBenjy But the truth doesn't fit the narrative does it? Documentaries rarely are balanced and mostly present certain groups as heroes and others as villains, not portraying the nuances that exist in us humans.

Someone wanted to make her a hero and a martyr when in reality she's just a human like all of us, but showing her like that would make it less dramatic.

Re: Poll: Final Fantasy IV - Do You Prefer The Original Or The DS Remake?

Pat_trick

I'm one of the heathens that prefers the DS remake.
Jokes aside, I like the characters a lot and I think the remake added depth to them, but of course the pixel graphics stood the test of time better.

On a side note I defeated the last boss with Kain alone using Jump after everyone else was killed. One of the best gaming memories I have.

Re: Video: We Share Our Thoughts On Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom After 100+ Hours In The Game

Pat_trick

I know that some people loved the game like me and some didn't, which is understandable.
What I don't understand is people who played over one hundred hours of the game and then say: "It sucks, I hated it!". If you hated it so much why did you invest so much time in it? There's no need to play this game for 100 hours to see what's it like. By hour 10 or even earlier it's clear to see what the game is going for and if it's worth your time or not.

Re: Random: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Devs "Too Occupied" To Play Elden Ring

@NintendoByNature If you find it too overwhelming it might be easier to start with one of the Souls games. None of them are open world so it makes it easier to find where you need to go without any guidance.
If you have a PS3 or PS5 I suggest you to start to Demon's Souls. It's shorter, divided in levels and generally easier than the other games. It's perfect to dip your feet in the water without being put off by the difficulty of the series.

Re: The Pokémon Franchise Has Now Shipped Over 480 Million Software Units

@johnvboy I do agree with the last part, they're very flawed but definitely not unplayable.

The first part I feel differently though. Both Zelda games are 1080p and 30fps and I'm quite happy because they play smoothly with very few issues.

This game is by far the worst running game in the series and it's the first one that actually bothered me as I played. It slowed down quite frequently and the pop in made it quite difficult to search for Pokémon.

I think you oversimplified a bit by just putting people in a group of satisfied customers and overly critical ones. I'm one who enjoyed the games in the series but thinks that the fact that they're releasing one game almost every year is clearly hindering the quality of the overall products.

They're releasing more and games and more frequently in a strict timeline to match with the release of adjacent products, and it's definitely not because they love the fanbase, it's because of how much money the franchise makes for Nintendo.
