@GrailUK No problem. I wasn't the friendliest either. Most of my frustration stems from the fact that I love Nintendo games and I feel they're taking advantage of me and every Nintendo fan because of our nostalgia and love for their IPs.
I think you're right about the price cut. If they cut the price of the console a few years down the line it will definitely revitalise interest in the console.
@johnvboy Because Nintendo also had a N64, a GameCube and a Wii U that failed.
You're very narrowly focused on the success of the Switch without analysing Nintendo's past failures.
The Switch 2 won't fail, but the novelty is over.
There's much less reason to buy a Switch 2 than there was to buy a Switch. The casual market made the Switch and they won't be so keen to buy a console that's so similar with very expensive games.
The Switch 2 is already starting with compromised ports for games that can run on the PS4. How long until they lose 3rd party support like it happened with the Switch?
Early adopters and Nintendo fans will definitely buy the console.
The problem with the Switch 2 is going to be having long legs. A lot of Switch owners are casual gamers ans and parents who don't want to spend a fortune on games.
There's also the fact that more likely than not a PS6 will release early in the Switch 2's life and will divert the attention from it. Third party games will be more graphically demanding and the Switch is severely underpowered.
I think the Switch 2 will be to the Switch what the 3DS was to the DS. A success, but not a massive one like it's predecessor.
That's a fair point. But I also think it would open a new range for AA games.
AA has basically vanished because it was squeezed between AAA and Indies.
Now they can establish themselves in the 40-60 range while the small indies can offer lower prices.
At the end of the day, if games like Undertale and Stardew Valley were priced at $30, I doubt they would have succeeded as much as they have.
A lot of people frown at old school graphics and limitations and for indie games to thrive they need to offer competitive prices.
Square Eniz tried to go AAA with the pricing of their 2D-HD games, and while the strategy initially worked, their more recent games failed to garner enough attention.
The exception being Dragon Quest, but Dragon Quest is a Behemoth in Japan.
It's going to be good for smaller developers and bad for AAA ones in the future.
These games will have to justify their price more than ever, while a smaller developer can make a solid game for $30 and people will love it's pricing.
With the exception of flagship titles, the AAA is struggling and it's going to become even harder with these ridiculous prices and competitors with smaller, more efficient and creative teams will thrive.
Also, Nintendo has officially beaten Sony and Microsoft in terms of greediness.
@Jeronan And AGAIN, the Zelda games are getting better resolution, frame rates and better lighting just like Forbidden West, God of War and Spider-Man.
@Not_Soos I'll derail and then retail at the end XD

Fantasy Life! I really liked the relaxing vibe of the originalz also the idea of having several different professions with different gameplay styles always appealed to me. Games that do that are super rare and only FFXIV comes to mind when I think about it.
I am cautiously optimistic about the game too, because as you said, Level 5 is not the same it was a decade ago.
I'm still hoping for a good game because Fantasy Life occupies a very specific niche that no other developer seems to be willing to fill.
@Ogbert Fair enough. I can see your point now and even though I don't entirely agree I completely understand.
I think your first reply had a lot of passionate rhetoric, which I can understand why, but it's very off putting to someone who doesn't share your views.
It read a bit exaggerated and oppressive.

@Ogbert He didn't do the salute. You can lie to yourself as much as you want.

We'll talk in 4 years when the Switch 2 sales will be trailing well behind the Switch.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Cross-Progression Confirmed, Performance & Resolution Detailed
@GrailUK "Let me try to spell this for you" I can do without your condescending arrogance.
The Wii U had a similar strategy and failed miserably.
Let me spell this out for you:
The Switch was a completely new concept when it came out, the Switch 2 isn't. The novelty is dead.
The Switch sold buttloads during COVID, for obvious reasons.
The casual audience won't upgrade to a Switch 2 without a very good reason as the consoles are way too similar.
The Switch 2 is not going to fail, but it won't be the success the Switch was by a longshot.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Cross-Progression Confirmed, Performance & Resolution Detailed
@Oldstalk I know I can't. That's my point.
The Switch 2 is already lagging behind the PS5 when it comes to performance.
Imagine how games like GTA VI are going to run on it.
Third party support is going to disappear real quick for them.
They're going to get Indies and miss most 3rd party releases, especially when the PS6 drops.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Cross-Progression Confirmed, Performance & Resolution Detailed
@Rice Consoles from 2013. The Switch is from 2025 and is already worse than a console from 2020.
Imagine when the PS6 drops. No game is gonna run on Switch 2.
Imagine how GTA VI is gonna run on Switch 2, if it releases there. They're losing a huge chunk of the market.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 Cross-Progression Confirmed, Performance & Resolution Detailed
The Switch 2 is already starting with compromised ports for games that can run on the PS4. How long until they lose 3rd party support like it happened with the Switch?
Re: Elden Ring's Switch 2 Physical Version Seemingly Tarnished By 'Game-Key Card' Release
Nintendo is doing everything it can to force people into buying games digitally.
This is supposed to be a new generation and their cartridge can't fit a PS4 game, it's pathetic.
The Switch 2 is becoming less appealing every day.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom On Nintendo Switch 2
@Duboiss I agree with you.
That's why I see a glimmer of hope in this price increase.
It might create such a difference between AAA and smaller game prices that people might start buying other games because they're cheaper.
It happened in the past, and hopefully it will happen in the future.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom On Nintendo Switch 2
@Duboiss So you're willing to pay whatever price they want for this unique experience?
There's a point consumers need to think and put their foot down on prices.
If everyone follows the logic you're presenting, Nintendo can keep increasing their prices however they want.
We do have a voice and we do have power, after all if we don't buy their products, they don't make money.
Look at the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo had to slash its price because no one was buying.
Re: Where To Pre-Order Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom On Nintendo Switch 2
Only £65 for a 7 year old game that released even on the Wii U?
What a bargain!
I know there are upgrades to it, I still think it's far from justifying its price.
Re: Hands On: 'Drag x Drive' Is Fantastic, But Is It Destined To Be Switch 2's ARMS?
This games looks drab, bland and boring.
Even if the gameplay is great, the art direction is not doing it any favors.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 First-Party File Sizes Are Surprisingly Small
Opposite to their pricing.
Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?
@AlonditeFE That is a really unfortunate truth.
People just want more of the same and new ideas are rejected without a thought quite frequently.
It really feels like corporations make gaming more a more unappealing as time passes.
I'm glad I have old consoles and indie games exist.
Nintendo, Sony and the other big ones seem really keen on extorting as much as they can.

@Jeronan And AGAIN, the Zelda games are getting better resolution, frame rates and better lighting just like Forbidden West, God of War and Spider-Man.
It's not a remake, it's not even a remaster.
The only difference is the wording used.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
@Jeronan Fair enough.
I would still qualify the Zelda updates in the same group as Horizon Forbidden West and other PS5 games that were upgraded for free.
I agree with your point on the other ones.
Re: ICYMI: Nintendo Is Hosting Another Direct Later This Month
It's to announce that from 2026 their games will increase in price by $30 per year.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
@Jeronan Is Breath of The Wild a new game? Tears of the Kingdom?
Your argument fell apart in your first sentence.
Edit:
You're also wrong about them just being made compatible, they had some minor graphic and frame rate improvements.
Witcher 3 was entirely revamped for the PS5.
Horizon Forbidden West was also improved.
Some of the improved games were free upgrades for a long period before you had to pay the $10.
I bought my PS5 less than one year after it released and upgraded a lot of games for free, even disc based ones.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
@westman98 You're wrong.
My proof:
https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/ps4-to-ps5-all-games-with-confirmed-free-upgrades
This list cites dozens of games with free updates.
In fact most of them were free when the PS5 released.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Game Upgrade Pack Prices Seemingly Revealed (Japan)
Remember when the PS5 released and most upgraded games were free? People were kicking off about the few ones that were paid.
This and the base price of games is putting Sony's greediness to shame.
Re: Mario Kart World's Switch 2 Box Art Is Packed With Delightful Details
I guess the wonderful art justifies the ridiculous price!
They have a less powerful console and they're effing the market by skyrocketing the price of their games. They've just opened the pricing floodgates.
From now on, only discounted or used games.
Screw you, Nintendo.
Re: Switch 2 Games Cost A Bit More Than You're Probably Expecting
£75 for a game? That's greedier than Sony, and they have the more powerful console.
Re: Poll: What Switch Game Could You Not Live Without?
It's really nice to see that dozens of games made the list.
The Switch truly is a wonderful console.
My choice was Tears of the Kingdom, which I know is not very unique, the Zelda games have been in my life ever since I was a child.

You're going off topic by telling other people to not go off topic.
Leave moderation to the moderators.

It's a solid game! Shadow's levels are even better than Sonic's, showing that SEGA knows how to improve the formula.

It seems like SEGA is on the cusp of re-establishing Sonic in the mainstream, but you can never underestimate their ability to screw things up.
