Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Officially Reveal New Mythical Pokémon

@somnambulance Sorry, DLC can't count in that comparison. We're talking about main games. Also I'm not a masochist, so after suffering through the main game I didn't buy any DLC.
It's cool that you played competitively and have both sides of the coin to use as a comparison but let me counterpoint a few of the things you said.
Generation 5 is definitely harder than the other ones, play a bit to see how different it feels.
I do enjoy Pokémon for the fun of it, the thing is we have different concepts of fun. My fun is building a team and gradually making it stronger to build the increasing challenge of the game.
To be clear, I'm not advocating to just make the games harder, but couldn't they have difficulty settings so they could cater to people like you and me?

Re: Random: Minecraft Movie Director Wants To "Avoid An 'Ugly Sonic' Situation"

@Pod I didn't think about that and unfortunately I didn't know about the overworked people. I guess I withdraw my previous statement. If people suffered for them to cater to the fans it shows another example of corporate greed. About the quality of the film, I didn't watch it so I went with what most people said about it, I honestly thought fans were pleased.
I guess when it comes to big corporations you can't have good things. Overworking and releasing a poor product, that's very Hollywood of them.

Re: Random: Minecraft Movie Director Wants To "Avoid An 'Ugly Sonic' Situation"

Ugly Sonic was one of the best cases of listening to feedback I've seen in my life. They released the trailer, everyone hated it. They understood the criticism, changed the design to match the games and everyone went to see the movie. They took the constructive part of the criticism and came out extremely successful because of it. It was brilliant.

@somnambulance I do agree with some points you're making. But to say that Pokémon red and blue are easy tells me you haven't played the games in a while. They're much harder than recent titles and let's not forget Black and White, which offered hard but fair challenges and a compelling story to boot. Now the game even plays itself, to the point of having auto battles and level up items everywhere you go.
Saying that all the games were easy is an extreme generalisation. GameFreak itself admitted that these games take into account that a lot of people don't like to focus and make an effort, so they make the games as "accessible" as they can be. They've clearly confused accessibility with being easy and unengaging.
I understand that you appreciated the game, but there's a trend a GameFreak to make them as simplified as they can be and a lot is lost during that process.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Officially Reveal New Mythical Pokémon

@NinjaNicky 100% agreed. Pokémon became the Call of Duty of the Nintendo consoles. They never improve much, release buggy and unfinished products and yet you can't criticise it without being called a "hater". A lot of the fans turn a blind eye and it only encourages GameFreak to keep rushing games out the door to make more money.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Officially Reveal New Mythical Pokémon

@VoidofLight Sure, GameFreak. By your flawed logic, it must be doing something wrong, because I didn't enjoy the game at all. The problem is exactly in your comment. They're catering to people that don't like trainer battles and leaving people like me completely forgotten. The game is absurdly easy and battles are mostly irrelevant. Making the game extremely easy for accessibility is ok, as long as you remember about difficulty levels for people that prefer challenge.
And you are correct that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to say that the developers "outdid themselves" is hardly believable when the game is such a technical mess.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Officially Reveal New Mythical Pokémon

@somnambulance @VoidofLight They weren't great. I wish the community would stop using
the goofy excuse of technical issues for this subpar product.
Empty towns with almost nothing to do except challenge the gym leader. Bland overworld with repetitive areas. Pokémon in areas that make no sense for them to be there. Very few trainers to battle and almost all of them have one or two Pokémon. The world is bland, it looks bland and it has absolutely no cohesion. Also of the three main routes only one has an interesting story. Horrible lack of animation for cutscenes that show the developers had no time to properly implement them.
This narrative that the game is only bad because of technical issues is absolutely false and it hides the fact that they had clear potential but are unfinished products that need to be released all the time to sell a product.
Nintendo needs new generations to sell new toys and GameFreak will never have enough time to properly develop a game. The bigger the scope of Pokémon games gets, the more unfinished they are going to come out.

@Not_Soos Watch the second Karl Jobst video. The money is not all accounted for. He didn't just lie, he committed charity fraud.
Some people do deserve support, but a person who lied and took money from charity is not one of them.
If he really is a good person he should try to amend this by donating his money to charity, it would alleviate some of the damaging he caused by lying and using charity money for his own personal gain.

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon X & Y - The Series' Greatest Paradoxes

Pat_trick

For me X and Y represent the beginning of the end of Pokémon. Every gen had different qualities and flaws, but always tried to push the series forward with new ideas. With X and Y the gimmick era starts, Mega Evolutions, Z moves, Dynamax, Terrastalization. Presented in one generation and forgotten in the next, gamefreak gave up on developing the series and focused on marketable gameplay "innovations".
They also took the battle towers away, diminishing the post-game and ignoring the people who play these games for the challenging battles.

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Briefed Activision On 'Switch 2' Back In 2022

Pat_trick

I hope it's not true. I know the focus of the switch is not graphical fidelity, but being on the level of consoles released in 2013 is pretty pathetic. The Switch already suffers with performance with a lot of 3rd party games, releasing a new console this weak in the middle of this gen would make it very limited on 3rd party support. It was the downfall of some of their other consoles.

Re: Round Up: Developers React To Unity's New 'Runtime Fee' Policy

@Cashews These people have families too and Unity might be causing a lot of people to lose their source of income.
I might not affect you directly but it does affect a lot of people who have families and jobs.
Also you don't care if people live under a bridge? Really? You're ok with people being homeless. Maybe read about the subject a little bit, gather information and then after that form an opinion instead of spitting bile against people you don't know.
I never met you, I didn't like your attitude in this post yet I would never wish for you or your family to be homeless.

@EarthboundBenjy But the truth doesn't fit the narrative does it? Documentaries rarely are balanced and mostly present certain groups as heroes and others as villains, not portraying the nuances that exist in us humans.

Someone wanted to make her a hero and a martyr when in reality she's just a human like all of us, but showing her like that would make it less dramatic.
