Re: New Switch Emulator Devs Are Jumping Through Hoops To Avoid A Nintendo Takedown

Pat_trick

@Lofoten As someone who was born in a very poor country and now live in a better one, I can tell you that one reason can be that it's almost impossible to play more than a few games if you don't emulate. The costs are absurdly high and almost no one has the money to buy a console and the games are also prohibitively expensive due to taxes and currency value.

These countries also do not enforce piracy protection rules which makes it easier to access them that way.

I personally used to play games in a alternate way until I moved countries and now I only buy original ones, because even £70 is not nearly as much as how expensive they were for me before.

Mind you, I'm not justifying piracy through emulation, just explaining why some people do it.

Re: Lara Croft's Pinup Posters Go Missing In Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

@Trikeboy Yes, because it really is just one case happening in isolation. It's not like western gaming is receding to censorship points we witnessed in the past. The Tomb Raider people already said that they're making Lara less of a sexual symbol and trying to detach her from any colonial practices like Tomb Raiding. These two pictures being removed represent more than just the act of removing them.

Re: Fire Emblem Engage "Limited Edition" Soundtrack Out Now In Japan

Let me be constructive about my opinion. Fire Emblem Engage had an extremely unfocused plot, characters with very little depth and an extreme downgrade when compared to its predecessor. It had less content and even graphically it wasn't much of an upgrade when compared to a game that came years before it.
The soundtrack was also very forgettable.

Re: Nintendo Is Currently The Richest Company In Japan

You know what has become more tiresome than people saying that Nintendo is doomed? The ones that say it to make fun of it. In most comment sections nowadays no one says that they're doomed, yet at least 10 people make fun of the barely existent "nintendoomers".

Re: Yoshitaka Murayama, Creator Of The Suikoden Franchise, Has Passed Away

I was first introduced to the Suikoden series back in the 2000's by playing Suikoden III on the PS2. Since them I fell in love with it and played every game trying to find as many characters as I could. The recruiting and base building always felt so unique, giving so much personality in the small army you created to fight against whichever was the political power in the games.
He's gone now but his legacy will definitely not be forgotten.
