Every now and then companies will send out surveys to diehard fans asking what kind of games they would like to see in the future based on certain franchises. We've seen Atlus and others like Capcom do this, and most recently it seems Nintendo has issued one, specifically about Pokémon.
As highlighted by a post on the MysteryDungeon subreddit (via My Nintendo News), Nintendo has begun sending out surveys to anyone signed up to receive My Nintendo promotions and newsletters. The survey wants to know what kind of games Pokémon fans would like to see from the series in the future.
It even goes to the extent of mentioning "existing spin-off series" such as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon. Other options include "traditional" entries and also more remakes/remasters. There's even an option to request something else:
The same source mentions how Pokémon Legends: Arceus was apparently referenced in a separate question. In case anyone is wondering why there's no mention of it in the survey question above. And as you can also see, the upcoming entries Scarlet and Violet are referenced - when asking a question about more open-world games.
What would you like to see from the Pokémon series beyond Scarlet and Violet? Gives us your thoughts in the comments.

"A new type of Pokémon adventure set in an open world that offers more freedom to choose what to do and where to go next (e.g. Pokémon Scarlet / Violet)"
That's the only logical answer
A new Pokémon Pinball.
I kind of want a full remake of the first game with some quality of life changes and a neat art style.
Just
Just rerelease the Pokémon mini.
I wish Gamefreak and Pokémon Company would spend more time with these games instead of seeing how many Pokémon games they can shove out in a year. I feel like we're just overloaded with Pokémon games to point where the quality is starting to drop now.
Pokémon Conquest 2 and a new Mystery Dungeon entry would be appreciated. While not a fan of Ranger, I appreciate that they used to try new genres. That F2P mobile board game from a few years back that’s long since been discontinued was one of my favorite implementations of the franchise in recent years.
A Shin Megami Tensei x Pokemon crossover.
I’m always down for a new Mystery Dungeon game, but I love the direction the main series is taking with more open-ended styles of gameplay.
The GOAT spin-off comeback, though: Pokémon Pinball!
Mystery dungeon explorers of sky remake! Make it happen gamefreak!
@FishyS We already have two of those.
@Bratwurst35 I asked for this lol, doubt it’ll happen but would be cool
@Zoda_Fett True, but it's fun to imagine haha. I'd like to think there would be alot of traumatized kids whose parents picked up a copy by mistake.
All jokes aside. If that did happen, I'd imagine it be more of a persona light type game. After playing Pokemon survive, I think it would tense and mature enough to appeal to a certain crowd while still keeping some of the light heartedness as to not give the brand a negative image.
Pokemon TCG on Switch! 😊
A Pokemon world MMORPG with all 9 regions available would be fantastic. The franchise had an expansive huge world, Game Freak and Nintendo never made it open due to the vastness of it but if one is made that would be excellent.
Well of course they need some inspiration for the 4 games per year they put out.
Welp, watch the ballet be stuffed with Gen 5 remake votes.
To be honest I wouldn’t mind a remake of gen 5 (mainly because I haven’t played any of the main gen 5 games.)
@PokemonDMG this.
Pokemon card game like hearthstone
Easy one. A new Pokemon TCG on Switch.
I haven't received anything yet, but hopefully I'm included.
Lumping BDSP in the same category as ORAS is absurd
1. Cooking with Pokemon
2. Yokai Watch vs Pokken
3. Pokemon World Builders
4. The Pokemons (The Sims)
5. Beatmania IIDX POKEMON
6. Dance Dance Revolution Pokemix
7. Pokemon Battle Chronicles
8. Pokemon Party
9. My Universe: Pokemon Fashion Style
10. Petz : Pokemon edition
Ugh. I just want another traditional RPG in the Pokemon universe akin to Collosseum or Gale of Darkness.
A Pokemon game where you get to play as a member of Team Rocket.
Or a Pokemon game where you're a Pokemon just trying to survive in the wild and preventing being caught.
Or... a guy can dream... a main series Pokemon game that has the latest National Dex available.
Not a big fan of mystery dungeon. I’d like a come back of the following spin offs:
Conquest!
Conquest!
and Let's Go Togepi and Marill.
A new game in the Colloseum and XD gale of darkness saga.
Pokken 2 on the switch successor.
Conquest as I've never played it.
A game focused on creating and running your own Pokémon gym where you can have other people online play and rate it!
The main one however would be for them to build on top of legends acreus. That game was very cool but clearly there was also room for improvement.
I watched a little bit of Pokepark for the Wii yesterday and thought it was really good. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely get those Pokepark games soon. A new game like that one would be very appreciated. Just do not forget to make the games for kids. Not a fan of making stuff for children more serious and gritty, to appeal to older people.
An updated Pokémon pinball would be awesome, more tables with all the Pokémon
I would love an action RPG like if Rumble and Spectrobes had a baby.... but fun... in an Arceus open world.
Pokemon Ranger is another spinoff that has potential, but, that was only left in 3 versions at the time of the 3rd and 4th generations; a new Pokemon Ranger should be well received.
Pokemon Rumble maybe is very simple, but is great and addictive, and with the new generations, and, well, new mechanics, also will be a great welcome back.
Honestly whilst I love Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, we can all agree that the story was one of the main aspects that carried those games into greatness. I just want that level of story telling in all Pokémon games if possible. It had likeable characters, funny gags, stakes that you believed in, some actually surprising twists and revelations, etc.
Oh yeah but if they do give us another a Mystery Dungeon, also give us back the neutral attack button from the older games that scaled with your level. Nothing felt better than coming back to a dungeon that gave you trouble way earlier and just decimate all the Pokémon without even trying.
Literally just a smooth framerate would be nice. Also, gbc trading card game revival and include zany cards and pinball from the pokemon mini
I just want more Pokémon. More Spin-offs would be cool, but I also want more open world games. Legends dlc too.
Lol, that choice for scarlet/violet is so specific already. It's like they're just asking "please tell us you're alright with the way we're doing this 😬" instead of asking if we preferred the mechanics of Arceus. It's still not clear yet (which i think might be on purpose) but if the challenge system from Arceus is gone, the whole reason I finally enjoyed Pokemon again would be gone .
@GreenFlash Nah, games need some kind of linear progression. If you can go anywhere from the start, there's nothing to build up to. The best kind of adventures start you in a small corner of a huge world, and make you earn the right to explore every inch of it.
I'd like to another TCG game even if it's a bit linear.
But one spin-off I'd love to see would be a rhythm action game in a similar vein to the theatrhythm or Miku games. Doesn't have to be every game, maybe the first 4 generations retold in song for the first entry. You could have medleys, remixes, arrangements etc.
Heck, you could unlock certain Pokemon to equip for particular bonuses (Jigglypuff gives bonus points for combos, Clefairy gives you a little leeway in hitting notes on time, Kricketune can give perfect bonuses etc). I think about this a lot.
More virtual console releases
Keep remaking Silver/Gold thank you.
Pokémon Golf please!
my dream spin-off is a Warriors/Musou game with Pokemon. Imagine someone like Zeraora plasma fisting the life out of hordes of Zubats xP
Wished I got the email, I loveeee surveys when it comes to games and i want ports, not remakes.
Pokemon Puzzle League 99
Pokemon Dressage, you make pokemon do horse dancing.
Pokemon x Digimon, the crossover everyone wants where a Digimon and Pokemon battle to determine how is the best over a game of gin rummy.
Pokemon Butcher, like Trauma Centre where you use motion controls to carve up Pokemon.
Pokemon 64, a demake of Pokemon Legends but in N64 graphic with lots of fog to hide all the bugs.
Pokemon Revenge, a game where Pokemon hunt the hu-mans by throwing apples at their heads to get revenge for Snap.
Pokepark 3 or Explorers remake I BEG.
Bringing more old spinoffs to Switch would be nice like Colosseum + XD, Conquest, the DS Mystery Dungeon games, Detective Pikachu, etc.
In terms of new games, Pokken 2 would be nice.
Just port Pokémon Conquest to the Switch!
A Pokemon Warriors game spinoff but set in the Mystery Dungeon universe.
Wish there was a new Colosseum / XD style game, with Stadium / Stadium 2 / Battle Revolution style rental battle campaigns. This series just died before Gen 5 for no reason. :/
Def more open world, or left field Arceus legends, another pokken fighting game wouldn't hurt. Ooooo also Pokemon VR.
A Pokemon game were you catch girls dressed as Pokemon XD...kinda like moemon emerald. But up to the graphics were at now.
A Pokemon game that leaves old generations out entirely. At this point running into the zillion amounts of old Pokemon when exploring a new gen game, they just in the way and waste my time. Unless of course you allow them only after beating the game or using a special tool to find them later. Which I would be ok with.
A new gen traditional Pokemon game made in the gbc pixel graphics again. I feel Pokemon lost Abit of magic after going 3d. For the rpgs anyways.
Another hey you pikachu type game would be fun lol
@ecco6t9 100%
The GBA Pokemon Pinball in particular is such a delight to return to. A spruced-up new entry on Switch with a few different tables would be brilliant.
How many people have already said a new Pokemon conquest? The story and gameplay were amazing.
For me, it would be either a new Ranger game or a new Poképark game. A new game in the Stadium/Revolution, Pokken or Mystery Dungeon series would be cool too. Also, while I have yet to finish it myself, I 100% agree with those asking for a Conquest 2
I want a 2D HD remake of Black/White
Pokemon X and Y remake. I hope they can do a really good job when the time comes around for them
Pokken Tournament 2, please. There’s still so much they can do in a sequel. Fighters, minigames, support Pokémon… you name it. It’s a solid spin-off that much like Tekken could shine even more with a sequel.
A new Mystery Dungeon altogether or an Explorers of Sky Remake. I wouldn't mind another game like Pokémon Conquest either.
There's already an open world type Pokémon game/s coming in November so I feel something else is needed in between those.
@Cheez I did before noticing your comment. I still have that underrated gem for my DS.
A Pokemon Conquest sequel would make me extremely happy.
A smash style game with all Pokémon. Always been my dream. An unbalanced fighter where you still have to plan out your team, but skill still plays a huge part.
Give me Poké-park 3 or else I will explode the Gamefreak company. Also Pokkén 2…….also something similar to Hey you Pikachu or Pokémon channel…..also new mystery dungeon….also-
Theatrhythm Pokemon
@VoidofLight There have been ports and there have been remakes that are almost 20 years old and there has been the thing called let's go which changes the game mechanics, but I was imagining a version of Pokemon Red both modern and with a lot of little changes but also trying to keep the original vibe of the first games.
Last time they did something like this, Warioware Get It Together was basically confirmed
So expect new mystery dungeon next Direct
POKEMON SHUFFLE/TROZEI ON SWITCH PLEASE
Pokemon Pinball needs to make a comeback
Pokémon Ranger 4, Ruby and Sapphire GBA re-release on eShop, colosseum, XD Gale of Darkness, Pokepark 1 and 2 remaster.
Here's what I want — a dream game with three modes:
Mode 1:
Journey through time through generations 1-7 with each game's respective Pokedex. Graphics aren't necessarily original quality/style, but they remain 2D and change as you enter each new land. When you enter a new land, you have to store all of your Pokemon from the previous one.
Mode 2:
Online, 3D, Stadium-style game where you can battle any Pokemon caught along your way in Mode 1. Also minigames. Also have cups where you can totally customize your team, a la "Pokemon Showdown."
Mode 3:
A large Wild Area where you can continue to train stored Pokemon from completed generations. Update this over time with missions, events, and map expansions. Preferably 3D.
$60 for Main game, which is Mode 1, $40 for each of the other two modes as DLC.
This game will never get made. But they could if they wanted to.
I'll take Pokemon Warriors spin-off for 60.
"Hey, what kind of Pokemon games and/or spin-offs would you like to se?"
"Well, how about--"
"Ha! Psyche! You thought we were being serious."
@FishyS Congratulations you get what you wanted! They're called Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee
@westmeadow sooo Evoland?
Let's Go Marill & whoever (Johto)
@West3DP Let's Go Lugia & Ho Oh
We real Pokemon fans play Pokemon because it's Pokemon, none of the spinoffs are really even worth the time. Stadium? Terrible. Snap? Garbage. Mystery Dungeon? Interesting but ultimately forgettable. The rest I don't even remember. Traditional is still leagues better, and after the fantastic Let's Go updates they've only gotten better, which is impressive. I did experience burnout, Y/X I never finished, and I didn't bother with S/M/US/UM, but aside from those everything else has been fantastic.
@ecco6t9 a real life Pokemon Pinball would be great.. the pinball scene is crazy right now with the themes that have come out the last 6 years or so
@FishyS So... Let's Go... The amazing games that you literally trash in your comment before praising without realizing it. I swear, fake fans are always hilarious 😂. Sw/Sh was bad! No it wasn't. Let's Go ruined the franchise! No it made the original games 100x better and brought QoL improvements to the franchise as a whole. BD/SP was lazy! No, they were exactly what you wanted from the Let's Go remakes originally. Fake fans have always been so fake.
@RobynAlecksys I'm not an ultra pokemon fan or a fake fan, I just like some of the games and dislike others and many others I've never played. Let's Go I don't like and Brilliant Diamond I do like. I think I'm allowed to have that opinion?
Honestly I would also be ok with a direct port of the original game actually being on Switch (e.g. in NSO), but the graphics of the original are a little painful.
This was just an 'if I could make a wish' article so I feel like every wish is ok even if you happen to disagree with it; it was my wish, not yours. Perhaps I didn't write my exact vision of what I wanted out very clearly, but it's kind of a sign of a good game that you can have lots of different versions of the same core game and different people will like them.
As for Let's Go, if you took away the emphasis on motion control and actually let me use my Pro Controller like almost every Switch game does, I might have liked it or at least not disliked it. Hating the basic combat kind of ruins the game even if other parts might be done well.
@West3DP I had never heard of that game, but yes, I suppose some elements I mentioned are included in Evoland. Obviously not precisely what I described.
Yeah it is a very interesting concept. I haven't played it but hope to
Pokemon Picross!!!!
Pokken. 2. Now. I'm serious. Pokken. 2.
I'd like to see a pokemon crystal remake
Also bring pokemon ranch into pokemon home
Pokepark 3 and sequels to Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee that are remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver. They could also bring out Pokepark 1 and 2 remastered in a double pack for Switch.
Pokemon Monster Hunter
A new Mystery Dungeon, Pokken, Pinball, Rumble, Conquest, Ranger (if that could work with Joycons), TCG Game, Stadium (that focuses solely on graphic & animations) - the lack of spin-offs is one of my biggest complaints about modern Pokémon. There were so many during Gens 3-4 and they were soooo good too.
How about a new pinball game? That’d be great. But New Pokémon Snap deserves a sequel.
@FishyS We already got the first generation remade twice. They should remake Heart Gold/Soul Silver, but mix it up, and have you start in Kanto and add the islands from Fire Red/Leaf Green, and maybe add another region west of Johto, so the bullet train can have 3 stops. 24 gyms would be sick. Also Pokemon should have some kind of canon map by now. Splatoon has a map, and it didn't even need one.
@RobynAlecksys You don't like Stadium and Battle Revolution... probably don't like Colloseum and XD because they're similar. You don't like either Snap or any of the Mystery Dungeon games. You probably don't like Hey You Pikachu, Pokemon Channel, and the Poke Parks because they're similar to Snap. You didn't even finish X/Y, which had the best features of any Pokemon game. You didn't play Sun/Moon or Ultra Sun/Moon, which are way more memorable than the latest games. And you're talking about Let's Go Pikachu, like it's actually worth $60. It doesn't sound like you're that into Pokemon.
Pokemon ARPG MMO
Pokemon Conquest! Pleasee
Didn't get it despite having both legends arceus and new pokemon snap, I'd guess it's cause I hadn't gotten around to registering em for points, sucks as I definitely care what they do here, and wanna see more stuff like mystery dungeon (hopefully without forced constant radar), conquest, ranger (assuming a future console has a suitable control scheme), or even rumble more in line with the first. And OC I'd prefer more open games at least in so far as linear has meant barren of much besides the straight line for last few gens.
DokeV seems like it could be the next evolution of a Pokémon game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaRbQHlegaM
Also it's high time for a new Pikachu Volleyball.
... Wun can only hope.
Another Pokémon Conquest please!
I would "LOVE" to see another Pokemon Stadium for the Nintendo Switch!😍😍😍 And with so many Pokemon I'm sure it would be a masterpiece!!!!
Aside from Let's Go, I haven't played any pokemon games on the switch. I'm not interested in SH/SW or the D/P remakes, the plot has simply gotten tiring. That said, I am interested in how gen 9 will be open world. I don't know about a sequel for conquest, but there were some elements I would like to see-specifically that "spirit" ability applied to in the main games, and for drain punch to become available to the Tepig evolutionary line. I would also like to see a new version of super training applied to attack moves-Plus Power, accuracy, attack power-that way there would be a more varied move set; especially if the super training started at the beginning like in XY (that is, even before the first battle).
