Are you riding the waves this weekend? Wave Race 64 is out now on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, so we're sure some of you are grabbing that late '90s nostalgia. Otherwise, you might be tee-ing up for a round of golf with the well-reviewing Cursed to Golf (we'll have our own review in the future!). Or perhaps you're eyeing up that confirmed finalised list of Mega Drive Mini 2 games.
Elsewhere on Nintendo Life, we've got a list of all the Wii U and 3DS DLC you should grab before the stores close. We also scoffed down Kirby's Dream Buffet in our review. And we also joined the Cult of the Lamb in yet another positive review for this indie hit.
Now it's time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

This weekend, I'm taking a plane to Germany with an eight-hour layover so I will be playing A LOT of video games. Wish me luck.
I've been playing 13 Sentinels like nobody's business lately, and I intend to keep doing it until I understand what on earth is going on in the game. It's very confusing!! Just when I think I've figured out a plot point, it'll turn out that actually everyone is a robot AND it's all a dream AND everyone's been dead the whole time, like every single famous movie twist all at the same time. But it's gorgeous, it's fun, and it's weird, and I want roughly ten billion more games like this, so I'm happy.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but it's more Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for me this weekend. I'm now at the end of chapter 6, which means I'm not far off the end of the game. Of course, beating the game isn't the end of Xenoblade 3, but I'll feel comfortable moving on to some new things. It's been phenomenal, and even with a few endgame stumbles, it's probably my favourite Xenoblade game. I'm ready to weep through the ending and the credits then take down some superbosses!
So things should get a bit more varied now because I need an RPG break! I still have to finish Neon White (yes, really) so I'll spend some time derusting this weekend, but then I think I'm going to start Chicory: A Colorful Tale. I've heard nothing but amazing things about this one.

I honestly don’t think I’ll have time to play anything this weekend, but if I do, I’ll probably jump into a Metroidvania game, maybe Axiom Verge or Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night; something I can easily jump in and out of. I might hop into Danganronpa and get through a few scenes here and there, but again, that’s if I have time!
Jim Norman, staff writer
After spending last weekend looking around flats, this week I will actually be moving into one of them! This will, of course, call for a bit of the strangely, specifically titled, Jim Is Moving Out! (thanks to Alana for flagging this one), in the ultimate ‘life imitates art’ demonstration.
Apart from that, it is going to be party times all around. I am expecting to be going back to the classics with Super Mario Party and Just Dance 2022 to truly settle into the new place.
Like most people, I have been watching the frankly enormous amount of Splatoon content this week and may be tempted to give the series another go once I have got some boxes unpacked. I haven’t really got on with this particular franchise in the past, but maybe a fresh start could be the perfect time to go back to it – we will see.
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!

This week I got Dusk + Quake from LRG and I have been playing DUSK since yesterday ... it is fantastic! I did not expect to get so hooked up on it!
I will also play some levels in Quake and I have started Darksiders II!
Happy gaming!!!
On PS5 i have re bought Tiny Tina Wonderlands as I'm now getting the season pass since all of the dlc has released, I have also downloaded Returnal from ps plus extra, I sucked at it when it first came out but since then they have released a Co op update so hopefully this helps me to complete it. And finally I have bought Neptunia Re-verse and an hour in and I don't believe this needed this remake, The visuals are also not "next gen
On the Switch I will be playing a lot more of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, currently 40 hours in and only just started chapter 4, love exploring the huge maps and the story is already better than XC2, my only complaint is the game feels way to easy to level up, I'm now level 43 yet the story level is only 27, and I haven't really grinded.
On my series S I will be trying to complete Back 4 Blood, I'm on Act 4 which is the final boss but for some reason I just can't do it after 4 attempts and I've tried it with both bots and real players, but I will try again today. Once I get that done I will finally start FarCry 5
Nintendo Switch: 'Monster Hunter Rise - Sunbreak' - Still loving the expansion, and the new Title Update has opened up some massive possibilities for new sets/builds. Nearly every weapon is viable, and I'm enjoying the ride so far. Just hit MR100, and enjoying also the online MP hunts.
PS5: 'Bloodborne' - its been sat in my backlog for some time, and is one of the remaining FromSoft titles I've not played. Many seem to rank this as their #1 FS game, even above Elden Ring, so I'm really keen to see what all the fuss is about! Shame that there is no patch for 60fps..... but luckily I've been playing a lot of Switch, so the 30fps performance likely won't bother me too much.
I played Gamecube games for this weekend. 🙂

1. The Sims: Bustin' Out
2. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 on Switch
Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest on PC
Continuing the sea voyages in Wind Waker on Game Cube. Really, I think this play through is my favorite one yet.
Busy with my second completionist playthrough of Xenoblade 3, this time without the use of fast travel.
I picked up Omno on sale a bit ago: good little 3D platformer. I am slowly finishing the last world on DKTF, that is hard platforming! And for a chill puzzle: playing "lines" which is a super simple but relaxing puzzle game.
Happy gaming everyone!
No one’s playing Wave Race? Disgraceful! 😅
Once again, more Xenoblade 3! I feel like I'm coming up on the end of chapter 4 with how things are currently going. I'm still having a ton of fun with the game so far!
If I want a bit of a change of pace, I'll probably play a few rounds of Kirby's Dream Buffet or MultiVersus.
I am oddly also playing through 13 Sentinels; it has been in my backlog for a bit now, and I finally started it last week. I'm around 60% through the story/remembrance part and the twisty plot really has me hooked.
Planning to start No More Heroes 3 or Danganronpa afterwards, still have too many games and not enough time!
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and Wave Race
Mostly Xenoblade. In chapter 4. Taking my time with the game.
@Mioaionios excuse me? Seriously?😂 That’s awesome. I’m still playing DE, so I haven’t started 3 yet. Is it that good?
I’m still making my through Xenoblade DE. I’m only halfway through, but my play time has already gone ten hours over my first play-through. The power of side quests and grinding.😄 Can’t wait to start 3, but I might play something in between.
Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam Deck.
Next it'll be Assassin's Creed one on the 'Deck before playing the last of the Ezio Collection on Switch.
Unless I can't resist diving into Odyssey first, or something else that comes up in a deep sale.
Not sure when I'll get to the last of my backlog, Dark Souls on Switch.
Continuing my adventure in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Just shy of 30 hours so far and I’m in no rush to finish it, might even go for 100% but we’ll see.
Back at ringfit adventure, the heat has stopped me exercising more or less completely (even walks) but it’s cooled down a lot now so I’m looking to get back into it. Already feel like I’ve lost a great deal of my fitness in such a short time….
Not sure what else. Would love to finally give shredders revenge, Neon white or Cult of the lamb a shot but I don’t think I’ll get around to any of them anytime soon.
I've been gradually playing through Final DOOM (namely, Evilution) on Ultra Violence via classic DOOM on Switch.
I'd never completed it back in the day. Hell, I never completed it even with cheats! I simply enjoyed jumping into levels, activating most of the cheats, and rocketing/BFGing my way through my favoured maps.
I'm among the n00biest of DOOM veterans.
But maybe that will finally change.
I've also bought Two Point Campus and Super Rare's release of Webbed, so, I'll most likely try those too.
This week I haven't been gaming much (other than a little bit of Fortnite, but that's a given by now) because I've been caught up with some traveling. And not the fun traveling that you do on vacation; this was the boring and lengthy work-related travels. As a result I've started listening to audiobooks, specifically Robert Lois Stevenson's Treasure Island, narrated by Michael Page as part of Brilliance Audio's The Adventure Collection. I was surprised at how engaged I was with Jim Hawkins and the many dangerously exciting adventures he faced after leaving the Admiral Benbow. Much of the classic literature targeted towards children that I've read (looking at you The Wizard of Oz) have aged poorly, and are filled with shallow stories and one note characters, so listening to a story that has remained interesting in this day and age was refreshing.
Now I know some people may call me out for straying off the topic of gaming (understandably so, given the nature of this website) I'll try and loosely connect the topic back to video games. Later this year, two games about pirates, or at least two that I know of, will be releasing; Return to Monkey Island and Skull and Bones. There's only one of these titles that interests me (the former), so I've decided to listen to this book not because it's an exhilarating tale full of danger and daring, but because I am "doing my homework" for some video games that I may play sometime this decade (There! I hope that's a good enough excuse for the restless Nintendolifians reading this passage, if any of you even got this far). Overall it's a title I'd highly recommend, with a fantastic narration to boot. If in the unlikely event you run out if time for video games, I'd say you should give it a try.
Ploughing through CrossCode; it’s got its hooks in me now. Just beat the first dungeon and will try and complete before Splatoon 3 drops. Got the game on pre-order, and I never pre-order.
I was never a fan of Wave Race, but seeing how the PAL port was useless that may explain why.
@Mrkittyhead
Hehe, thanks. I'm head over heels in love with the game. Best of the franchise imo.
I started portal on my son’s Xbox due to backlog club, but we’ve just unplugged and removed the tv and consoles to do some decorating so that will have to pause for a while.
Continuing Into The Breach (but now on iPad). Might play a bit of splatoon 2 as well. A bit reticent to start a ‘big’ game as I think I’m going to pre order splat 3 and play that almost exclusively for a while when it comes out.
Pokemon Sword: I've got 8 gym badges and about to catch the legendary (I think). The best I like in this game is the art style of the mons. I am looking forward to the post game what has to offer before I jump into the expansion.
Celeste: I am at the summit now, been playing this for a couple months now on and off because it's freaking hard!!! But I am enjoying better the more I play it.
Mario Kart 8 with my partner. These DLC courses are not the best product of the "Mario Kart Team" I realised when I went back to play the original courses. It's just lack...something.
Also if I get bored of pokemon I might start Mario & Rabbids DLC. I have beat the game few months ago and I want to finish the DLC before the new comes out so that's the next game on my list.
Happy gaming weekend everyone!!!
Shining Force 2 through the Megadrive Collection, very early in the game still, just did the first battle in the 2nd continent of the game. Good game so far.
I liked the first SF game well enough and I think most people cite this one as the better game so hopefully that'll be how I'll be feeling at the end too.
I hope you were not spoilering 13 Sentinels Kate. Otherwise I am gladly skipping this game.
I might be finishing Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. Less than 100 kyberstones left. Playing for almost one month and it still is enjoyable.
Happy gaming everyone.
Three games for me this weekend:1)Faeria —complete edition, I’m so addicted to this card game, only started a few weeks ago and already logged in about 50 hours—the always online aspect is inconvenient however. 2) Doorkickers: Action Squad—great, deep, pickup and play action 3) Subnautica—restarted it for the 3rd time and loving it once again—I really lose track of time playing this one!
I finally got hold of an N64 Switch controller (paid double from CEX but it was worth it!) so I am having a retro day! 😁
Still trying to get the platinum trophy for Ghost of Tsushima and do the expansion.
After that I’ll either go back to Life is Strange 2 and continue that game or start we ❤️ Katamari which arrived in the mail a few days ago.
Oh and the fortnite dragon ball super event ofcourse, still want to unlock that glider and the emote and still have 26 levels on the battlepass left until I’m lvl 200
Xenoblade chronicles 3 , at chapter 5 my objective is to finish the game main story by the end of the week since it’s my last week off before return to work.
More XC3, MK8 Deluxe and Switch Sports. I think I may finish XC3's story this weekend, I can tell I'm near the end but I'm clearing up a lot of side quests like I usually do at this point in games.
I slow play a lot of my games due to not having a huge amount of time so XC3 is going to last me a while. My only target is to get it done by the time Persona comes out. Can't wield 2 RPGs at a time.
Recently bought Blossom Tales 2, Cult of the Lamb and Cursed to Golf. Think i'll focus on beating blossom tales first before i'll jump into rhe other ones
Xenoblade 3 on switch ! (finally finished SMT V and loved it). When I get tired I sprinkle a bit of Cult of the Lamb on series X, PS5 is gathering dust (as usual, since theres no good games for the damn machine…)
I’m on Kirbo’s Dream Buffet and the Anno Mutationem demo.
Gran Tourismo, Resogun, Cult of Lamb, MK8D new tracks, Mario Golf…
Guilty Gear XX ΛCore Plus R — completed Arcade Mode playing as EX Dizzy.
BLAZBLUE CENTRALFICTION Special Edition — completed Arcade Mode playing as Hibiki Kohaku, Naoto Kurogane, and Makoto Nanaya.
Shovel Knight: King of Cards — completed one level on 1/3 medals, on second map...
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour — completed about the half of 3rd level in 1st Episode.
CHAOS CODE -NEW SIGN OF CATASTROPHE- — completed Arcade Mode on Ending A, playing as Cait & Sith, Celia, and Celia II Kai.
Super Mario Odyssey — Earned 5 more Energy Moons in Mushroom Kingdom. Beated octopus boss in revanche.
Crypt of the NecroDancer — taken a few unsuccessful runs in Zone 5. Bought a few new items in Hephaestus' shop.
Well... That's all what I've played on this week. Have a nice gaming weekend, everyone.
Edit: I had forgot about Android... On Android, I'm continuing to expand my mine in Minecraft. That's all.
Thus far I’m on the start of Chapter 5 on Xenoblade 3 and I wanna get more quests done before what will probably be an onslaught of story cutscenes. Right now I’m LV.64 and I want to get a couple more levels in Would much rather steamroll than get slapped with a roadblock, especially in an RPG.
I’ve also just done a Hard/Plasma Cutter only playthrough on Dead Space and, yeah, it’s a classic for a reason. Just started the sequel and it already feels so much better compared what was already a fantastic game.
Xenoblade 3 for me. I’ve been on chapter 4 all week. It seems as long as the first 3 put together.
I’m starting to care more about the characters as things are beginning to happen.
Ditto on 13 Sentinels. I think I have good idea to what's going on.
I'm not playumg anything butnfigured I mughr use rhisnspace to say goodbye to all the people I've made q connectuinnwith over tge last five years here. I am losing my vision completely, a little bit more every day, and can barely see anything on q TV or Switch screen. Typing this message mostly by muscle memory, rhe acreen is a foggy blur rhat I get occasional.glimpses of a word trhough. Which makes itnincredibly hard to edit, hence the incoheremt message here. I won't drag it out too much.
I've been coming to NLife regularlt for about fice years, more or less rhe life of rhe Switch so far. As gaming communities go, I found this onw of tge more laod-back and open ones, where the moat peomimwnt voices weren't necessarily the loudest, most hardcore gamers and moat obnoxious platformn warriors, nor the most hateful baesment trolls ir crusaders for righteousness. It's a good place where women qnd queer people can speak wirhout fear, whixh I appreciate immensely, but people didn't get shunned for admirting rhat Bayonetta is hella hot. Over tge years I've seen NL movw with the times to become a little less tolerant of hate and disceimiatory ralk, which is awesome ecen if I don't necessarily agree on ecery comment that gets deleted.
(Just in case anybody missed it somehow, I'm a nonbinary transfeminine person. But beingnnonbinary isn't mty whole identity, I'm a famer and a Nintendo fan and Indon'r alwaysbwant tontalk abut the queer struggle. Sometimes Injust wanna play a game, andbsimetikes a gamen thar happens to star abhotnyoujg woman is the best game, you know what I mean Ryza fans?)
Anyway, best to all of you who've commented and responded ro my snark over tge years. Keep being you and making this a fun place. Spread positivitty and be there for eachother. It's remotely possiblethat my eyes will get better somehiw (nit at all likely with current science, but rhings can change) and I'll be around sometime, burnfor niwnrhisngoodbye.
Live long and prosper.
Finally got through title update 1 in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. Seething Bazelguese gave me the most trouble to solo versus the rest. Fumbled around in Limbo & Shining Force on my flight back as well but neither really stuck with me. Now that I’m back home I made it to the midway point in God of War (2018)
Happy gaming everyone
I've got a lot of stuff for the weekend:
Overall a very stacked weekend.
Same! Same! Same! And Hishozame for me
This weekend i'll be playing
Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)
Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic (Switch)
Wario World (NGC)
Paper Mario TTYD (Hard Mode, with Gecko Codes) (NGC)
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Will obtain my silver medal needed for August.
Panzer Geekz (Windows Phone) - Reminds me of Blast Corps quite a bit.
Make It Rain: The Love of Money (Windows Phone) - Nearly done all I can in here.
Cursed to Golf ( witch I'm loving so far)
I’ll be out of town all weekend for a wedding so I won’t get to play much; however, when I do get a chance I’ll be sinking time into:
Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I’m 55 hours into the game and just reached chapter 5. The game is phenomenal on every level. And Eunie is my main gal - and her as Ashera’s defender role is quite fun to play. That said, I need a break from the game because all of my (limited) free time is being spent on the game and I don’t want to lose the desire to finish it due to burnout.
As a palate cleanser, I’m playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Nintendo Switch Online). Admittedly, I had this game on the SNES as a kid but never really put effort in playing it because my time was spent with neighborhood friends playing Super Mario World (one of my all time favorite games) and Donkey Kong Country 2.
Now that I’m finally playing it - what is there to say about this game that hasn’t been said before? The game is a masterpiece in every facet. The atmosphere is incredibly immersive with distinctive art direction (I’m a sucker for 16-BIT) for each location you traverse. The pacing is also fantastic, and it feels like you never lose steam in your progression. One thing that blows my mind is the level design. Though I’ve never played this game before, I have played A Link Between Worlds (3DS) and Cadence of Hyrule (Switch) and I immediately feel at home in this world. The sheer fact that it holds up three decades later is a testament to its brilliance.
First, I just wanted to say I love this series you all do every week! I really enjoy getting to hear about everyone on the staff and in the community is playing for the weekend.
In terms of what I’ll be playing, I’ll mostly be playing Strikers Battle League online with my friend. The game has so many flaws, but I think the strength of the core gameplay is really being overlooked.
I’ll also continue working towards 100% in Kirby, and not on Switch I’ll keep working on improving my game in Guilty Gear Strive. It’s been a good time for video games for me lately.
I got a ridiculous Samsung OLED tv - so games on the switch that showcase that. Kart 8, Mh Sunbreak...so far they look fantastic.
I actually started Animal Crossing: New Horizons this week. Despite not thinking it was my type of game, I still went ahead and bought it shortly after release, but just never got around to giving it a try. I thought I’d finally give it a crack earlier this week and, to my surprise, I’ve kinda fallen in love with it! I intend on playing a LOT more of AC over the course of this weekend.
I’m also still playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which I’m enjoying way more than the first time around back at launch. With these two Nintendo Switch stalwarts, I’ll have my hands full for this and many more weekends to come. And I couldn’t be happier.
@JasmineDragon I'm so sorry to hear about your vision, Jasmine! I've always appreciated seeing you in my comments, and you will be missed. I hope you're still able to enjoy the games and the writing you love, even if it means finding a new way to engage, and I want to sincerely wish you all the best and thank you for being here <3
@Expa0 it's so good. Shining Force CD is great too!
there no other really fun games other then Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch so I'm playing that still along with a few random 3ds games
My teen kids were playing Splatoon 2 in earnest, getting warmed up for the Test Splatfest. So, we didn't get to Wave Race 64, yet, but that should happen soon. That said Splatoon is so great and even entertaining to watch. (though we were reminded of how awful trying to play with a friend is, they never had a match on the same team)
Been playing Minecraft myself and table top gaming with the card version of Terraforming Mars (Ares Expedition), which the whole family is enjoying.
@JasmineDragon That is super rough. So sorry to hear about your vision. Hoping the best for you.
Triple-dipped on GTAV for PS5 this week. A pleasure to revisit and see the additional content and improvements added. Yes, I'm one of those people contributing to its sales position.
This week I will be mostly playing
With my kids
@JasmineDragon
That is heartbreaking news. 💔💔💔💔💜
Why do bad things have to happen to such good people??? 😩
I’m sure many folks will miss you greatly here at NL. You may recall I’m out as a trans woman, too, so losing your sisterly presence here is incredibly sad for me.
You have been such a kind and funny voice in this community, an ally when anonymous internet hate and nonsense is so abundant.
Even in parting, you’re so gracious.
If this transition does force you away from us, please know I’m truly grateful for the humor and love you’ve shared here. May you and your family get through this upheaval quickly, and on to better days soon. ❤️❤️
Still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3 daily (80 hours) so many side quests. I must finish them all! Other then that, mabey Blue Reflection on PS5. But most likely XC3 all weekend.
The parts of my weekend NOT spent driving to and attending an outdoor concert (which is iffy in itself due to the weather forecast) will be spent with more Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I've just started on Chapter 4 after some crazy plot twists (though predictable in one case) and am far from the end; there are still so many quests to do and places to explore!
IF I need a break, I'm still diving into Kirby's Return to Dream Land now and again. Hoping to grab the last ship part shortly.
Happy gaming!
@Mioaionios Respect to you! Finishing Xenoblade 3 and starting a new game plus right after!?
I'm loving the game, but I couldn't do that!
And playing with no fast travel this time? Madness hahaha. I'm curious, did you do the same with Xenoblade 1 & 2 ?
Kirby's Dream Buffet but unfortunately the online is rather laggy still which shouldn't be happening at all as I have 3 Ping on Gb Fibre Optic. Hopefully this will be fixed soon otherwise I'm just going to delete it, it's just unacceptable. Apart from Kirby I'm playing through the Sonic Advance Trilogy and I'm almost finished with the third game and seriously these games are incredibly stressful to play due to horrendous level design cheap enemy placement trap placement and pointless bottomless pit placement that just seem to be there to infuriate the Player and nothing else. Then we have the issue of gaining access to the Special Stages which apart from the first game is just ridiculous to say the very least. Put short you have to know the games inside and out. I managed to obtain the Emeralds but never again will I put myself through this. Oh and don't get me started on the bosses here because these are without doubt the worst in the entire series, especially the ones in Sonic Advance 2.
Awful games just awful and I'll be glad to get the third game over and done with. These games are not fun.
Another busy summer weekend with little time to game, sadly. There’s a stray cat in the yard that’s trying to adopt me, and my kiddos have more social commitments than I do lately!
I’ll still try to do more hub quests in MH Rise, and try a run or 2 of Spelunky. Plus I tried Wave Race 64 for the first time last night, and may dip back into that a little. I can see why peeps are so fond of it.
@JaxxDuffer Good luck with Crosscode. The game turns into a pretty challenging exercise the further you get. I was startled with how much I liked it to start and felt it may have had a chance toppling FF7R as my GotY, but, by the time I finished it, the difficulty of the puzzles just had me burnt out, dropped from a 10/10 to a 8/10 due to the difficulty and got ranked #11 or 12 for the year on my top 20 list, if I remember correctly. I hope your reflexes are faster than mine lol. Good luck beating it before Splatoon. It’s about 30-40 hour game.
As for me, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 perhaps. I’m a bit torn because the story is slowly unfolding now and I’m enjoying when the story happens, but I’m still not a huge fan of the overall gameplay loop. But what did I expect? This is how XC1 was too.
Outside that, I’m contemplating picking up Rollerdrome. I loved the trial for it. Might give Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 another round because I just really enjoyed the gameplay. I’ve got Blossom Tales 2 and Strange Horticulture kicking around too if the backlog. I could wipe the dust off my Xbox and try As Dusk Falls. I don’t know. I was supposed to go to the theme park today, but the forecast is all rain by me. And then Sunday is for house projects, so that’s a “hopefully l have time to play” type of place and I may want a lower commitment fix than XC3.
I’ll be playing Warframe, Gran Turismo 7, and maybe a little bit of Forza Horizon 5. I’ve been thinking about picking up Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but I never finished 2 and don’t want to have another game in purgatory.
I have found myself going back to Fight'N Rage - a really excellent game that I am beginning to appreciate more and more. I've only just been able to complete it on "Normal"!
@DTfeartheBEARD
Thanks! I'm doing it on a brand new save file, not NG+.
And yes, I tried doing this on one of my playthroughs of XC1 but I got stuck with some of the timed side quests, unable to complete them before they expired. Maybe it's doable in that game, not sure, but if it is it requires a ton of preparation and foresight.
I didn't even bother trying to do this in XC2 though, because even the main story requires the use of fast travel at one point and most side quests aren't completable without it. That was a major gripe of mine in XC2: you needed to do so much fast travel in this game because the areas were all disconnected and in pretty much all cases there was no in-game solution to travel from one country to another. It broke immersion for me quite a bit.
Anyway, this gameplay choice is in fact doable in XC3 and I love the game even more because of it.
Ohhh I completely forgot. Spider Man came out on PC recently didn't it so I think I'll check that on on Steam Deck to see how it runs, assuming it runs on Steam Deck at all ofc.
I finished up the main story from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 not too long ago. So now I've been going back and finishing up all the side quests! I'm currently 91 hours into the game now and I've enjoyed every second of it so far!
Gonna play Wave Race. And I know the big game right now is Xenoblade Chronicles 3 but I’m actually playing the 2nd one.
@Mioaionios That's interesting. I didn't finish XC1, even though I put almost 100 hours into it. Playing XC3 has motivated me to go back and start XC1 all over and complete it this time. I hear a lot of complaints about XC2, but I picked up a copy a few months ago anyway. I don't want to play it until I beat XC1 and find a copy of Torna first. Do you know if XCX for Wii U is worth buying?
Sonic 3 and Knuckles via Origins, Mario Kart 8, Dragon Quest XI, and maybe Smash Bros Ultimate at some point. Happy gaming!
@DTfeartheBEARD
XCX is definitely worth it imo. Though I have to warn you that game is all about exploration and quests, and very little about story and characters.
@CodyMKW very true I always find myself coming back to animal crossing other games just don't hold up imo
After 5 years I finally own Legend of Zelda : Breath of the Wild. Finished the game years ago, but strangely never owned the game! This weekend , ill just play whatever I end up playing. No solid plans but there’s always that backlog staring at me, I have CULT OF THE LAMB but I’ll wait for the patches to drop before I play it. I’m sure some MH RISE is in the mix, might play some HUNTDOWN and ENTER THE GUNGEON in co op. Too many options for real!
Strains on deck this week: Black Cherry Punch, Mint Chocolate Chip and some classic OG Kush
Have a great weekend!!
Wolfenstein as its £7 on the eshop right now!! Madness!!
@Mioaionios That's all I need to know. I'll be on the lookout for a copy. I appreciate the warning lol.
@Zuljaras Oh man…DUSK! You’re in for a treat, it’s an underrated gem! That’s dope you got the physical copy too! I don’t really mess with Limited Run much but that’d be a great game to own physical! There’s a ton of secrets in the game so try everything…even the bars of soap…you’ll know what I mean lol
@JasmineDragon
Best wishes during your challenging time. You may lose your eyesight but you’ll always have your “vision”. Hoping your situation improves! Take care!
@JasmineDragon I haven't been active lately in the comments section but I wanted you to know that I'm deeply sorry to hear about your vision. I'd hate for you to stop coming here and I hope that you find a good new hobby too, to replace gaming. <3
I'll be doing xenoblade chronicles 3 whenever I have time and blossom tales 2.
@Rainz I finished the game today but I did not bother with the secrets. I just played it for the fun! I am definitely going back to it for some secrets etc.
@UltimateOtaku91 I’m with you in the difficulty. I’m completing every quest and hero mission as I go and not using the banked XP at all as a result. Some of the boss battles can still be tough though which is nice regardless
Got the Doom Slayers collection in the current sale. An amazing deal so, can’t wait to try those out!
Portal for the first time! I'm halfway thru 1 and ...it's pretty special eh.
@JasmineDragon I'm incredibly sorry to hear this. I wish you all the best in this difficult time in your life.
I'm taking a break from Xenoblade 3 and watching the new season of Cuphead instead this weekend.
Playing XC3 post game. Already beaten all superbosses (they are very easy tho) and leveling up all classes.
It is amazing game, I love it. 170+ hours atm.
Monster Hunter Rise. Friends helping me get to the end of HR7 so I can get the Sunbreak expansion!
Switch:
Steam
@Mioaionios Wow! Second playthrough!
I will play through again late next year before the Dec 2023 DLC drops.
Will you play on hard? I plan to next time after the first on normal.
What a fantastic game.
I plan to try and get through Ys VIII (8) as it is on trial with Switch Online. Got back into JRPGs for first time after 25 years with a play through of Xenoblade 3 last week. Ah the memories of simpler times of the 90s.
Other considerations that are on brutal sales on the eshop:
@a_brave_new_geek
No, I rarely play games on hard mode.
I played about 4 hours of WoW during the night and 4 hours leveling my new Animal Crossing island. Tomorrow I think I need to go out. 😅
I've been playing Yakuza 0. One karaoke session with Majima has convinced me that he is the best character so far.
I’ll be playing Fortnite with my friends, Splatoon 2, and Forza Horizon 5 this weekend.
Lots of Kirby plus some random things this weekend:
Kirby's dream Buffet - chaotic, just a little janky, occasionally laggy, and I'm bad at it, but it's been really fun racing along as super fat Kirby and bumping other players off cliffs.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land - racing as Kirby made me want to play some normal Kirby also. Always fun to come back to this game.
Pokken Tournament DX NSO trial - I'm not going to buy this game, but I've always had a secret urge to have Lucario beat everyone up, so I'm enjoying playing for a couple days during the trial.
bit.trip runner - 2 dollar impulse buy. I'm not usually an auto-runners fan but between the rythym aspect and the super fast but hard levels, this has been fun. I'm amused by the fact that there are 3 difficulty levels but they're almost the same.
Glad I played 13 Sentinels before reading that huge spoiler, but some people use this post to buy games they didn’t previously have on their radar. To be fair, it is an older game.
MK8D a little, but I'll be doing the demos for Azure Striker Gunvolt 3, The DioField Chronicle, and Anno Mutantionem. Back to Torna if time.
@KayFiOS
This game is awesome. I was surprised how great Majima is in this game compared to the other entries. I think he stole Kazuma the show.
Probably playing more Xbox Series S. It's been a while since I've touched my Switch. I'll probably pick it up again once Bayonetta 3 comes out.
Some more Xenoblade 3 for me, haven't completed it yet but I'm on the last chapter. Just finishing up some last-minute quests before finishing it up. I've also been trying to get through Trails of Cold Steel III some more, but it's been a struggle. The pacing's similar to the 1st game, and that's not ideal. On 3DS, I've been going through FE Fates (Birthright Route) and steadily making my way to the end. I need to pick up the DLC for both Fates and Awakening, and that's my plan after beating Fates.
Hoping to get some more hours in Digimon Cyber Sleuth this weekend in between catching up on the Pokémon World Championships VGC stream.
@JasmineDragon I doubt we’ve ever interacted, but I’ve always enjoyed your comments here, I’m really sad to read your post today and I hope things will get better, as that’s all I can do for you x
Playing Xenoblade 3 still and smash with friends.
I recently tried Them's Fightin Herds thanks to my friend letting me use his steam account, I played a bit of it and decided I want the game.
So when it releases October I'm definitely getting it.
Still Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Didn't get to play a whole lot earlier this week, so I'm still on Chapter 8 (Melia's big story chapter). It's been my favorite chapter, at least since early in the game. Just crossed the 43 hour mark earlier today.
Playing now Kirby and Baldo. Fantastic games both!!
@JasmineDragon I turn up on comments every so often but mostly I enjoy reading what other people have posted.I'm pretty sure we have interacted a couple of times in the last few years though and id just like to say how sorry I am to what you are going through! Whatever you have I hope they can save or reverse the damage on your eyes. You have made a lot of friends on here and you will be missed.x
Miitopia because I wish Tomodachi Life would come out on switch, and this is a distant cousin. And Kirby’s Dream Buffet because that’s the cutest game ever 💕
@Mioaionios Fair enough - I only ask with Xeno 3 as the combat became quote easy when certain builds were (assuming level parity with the enemy) possible later in the game. The puzzle of combat faded for me.
Still a 10/10 and top 10 game though!
@JasmineDragon All the best. I've enjoyed seeing your input in the comments here over the years, hope something can be done to fix your vision. My mum has anaridia and her eyesight is declining rapidly (she needs a white stick now) so I feel your struggle. She's having a stem cell op in October which I hope will help in some way but it's an experimental treatment.
Been playing through Chapters 3 to the beginning of Chapter 4 late last night. stayed up until 4 a.m this morning.
@UltimateOtaku91 how do you have so much time for so many games? lol
School is taking up too much of my time so I’m only playing Legaia 2 for PS2.
@Calbant outside of work I gave up watching TV, I still watch films though when they come out.
So that freed up a lot of time for gaming
@Mioaionios I’m about to start Future Connected, and than I can start 3. So excited.
@Mrkittyhead
Almost Lanz time.
@KateGray Thank you Kate. Your presence here has been a constant joy to me in the last year and I hope you will continue ro bring rhat positivity and advocacy to NL's readers. It means a lot.
I hope to be around in the future and show up in comments from time to time. Gaming is a part of my life that I am loathe to give up, and I'm looking into ways to keep gaming. Unfortunately Nintendo isn't doing great with accessibility and the Switch just isn't friendly to my specific condition, so I might be more active on Playstation and PC. But I'll never stop loving Nintendo's characters and ideas, and I'm definitely still on the lookout for Switch games that I can play.
PS: I can still crochet somewhat successfully and have not forgotten i promised you a Pikachu amigurumi. It's a huge challenge right now but we're gonna make that happen.
Love, Jasmine
@aaronsullivan Thanks, I hope I'll find a way to still be active here.
@Teksetter Stop it or I may cry and you don't want to see me crying, believe me it's not pretty.
Of course I remember you and always like seeing your comments. It's part of what I said in my first post up there. I am still trying to make assistive tech work for me so I can continue to be part of the community. Not giving up on Nintendo yet and will never give up on my family. Stay strong, you'll be in my thoughts. ❤
@Jhena I wasn't intending to spoil it because I said those things as jokes!!! I hadn't even got halfway through the game when I wrote that
@JasmineDragon If there's anything I can do to make my writing on here more accessible, let me know. I know a lot of things don't translate well to screenreaders!!
@KateGray
So those were just jokes. I am kinda relieved. I really thought those were spoilers. If this is the kind of mega twists this game has it must be pretty intense. Surely worth a look. I mean I did like
Odin Sphere, Muramasa and Dragons Crown. Thanks for letting me know.
@JasmineDragon
Jasmine thank you! It's a relief to hear from you. And even with this awful development life dealt you, you still have a better attitude than me! I can't believe in these circumstances YOU'RE the one uplifting ME! Girl, you are truly amazing. It's easier to stay strong with examples like yours to follow.
As you figure things out, I'll be wishing you luck and whatever small support I can offer. <3 <3
@JasmineDragon I really hope to read more of your comments in the future. I have found your words to be generally interesting, thoughtful, and good-natured, and we could definitely use more people like you here (and in every other online forum I can think of). Thank you for reminding me to keep on paddling! I will try my best to follow your advice about spreading the positivity. Your perspective is always welcome, but in case you cannot participate for a while, I and others will remember your good cheer (... and your love for Bayo and Ryza).
