BioShock: The Collection made waves when it first arrived on Switch, and now this fantastic first-person package is available on the Nintendo eShop with a tasty 80% discount.
Rather than paying the full £39.99 for the celebrated three-game collection, the current Switch eShop sale (Europe only at the moment — apologies to our Stateside friends!) brings the price down to £7.99 for the remastered trilogy. That's right, £7.99 (or €9.99 in the ol' Eurozone) for three of the best shooters on Switch or anywhere else for that matter. The games are on sale individually, too, although at £6.39 a pop you may as well snap up the lot.
Of course, on top of the three base games, the collection also contains all of the DLC for each individual game, meaning that there will be enough dystopian content to keep you going for the next little while. Because you haven't got enough to play already, right?
The first-person shooter genre took a while to bed in on Switch but has steadily grown over the years with the console now offering an impressive array of FPS classics, and this 2020 collection is a particular highlight. You can still check out our glowing 9-star review (or watch the video version below), where we described the trilogy as 'some of the best single-player, first-person shooting available on the Switch.'
This sale will be available on the Nintendo eShop until August 24th. Although that may seem like a way off yet, it's amazing how time flies so we recommend getting in on this as soon as you find the chance. There are plenty of other deals at the time of writing (Inside is an absolute steal at its current sale price), but this one really jumped out at us like a Plasmid-addled Splicer.
Will you be grabbing this on sale? A cheeky double dip, perhaps? Let us know in the comments. And would you kindly congratulate us for getting through the entire article without referencin—oh dash it all.

But was the crashing and save corruption patched out? https://twinfinite.net/2020/06/the-bioshock-collection-on-switch-has-a-crashing-bug-that-could-corrupt-save-files/#:~:text=However%2C%20if%20you're%20planning,playing%20on%20could%20get%20corrupted.
I don’t know if the switch versions where good but these games are must plays! The fourth has a very big legacy to follow.
The lack of gyro kills any interest I’d have in this, and I love Bioshock. I’d have bought it full price if they’d got the controls right. 😥
This is a superb collection! Got it in a sale and had a blast. The controls were great, the graphics excellent and I had such an immersive experience it was frightening at times haha Defo recommend to anyone.
Bioshock collection code-in-box is $14.99 on US Amazon. It's been $19.99 or lower for a while now.
@BulkSlash Same here. I would have bought a physical copy ages back if they had have just included gyro aiming but without that I'm not interested for any price.
I first played it on the PS3 and was shocked (no pun intended) by how good it was. I'll say this, if you haven't played it you'll have a fun time with it, BUT no gyro and it's 30fps on Switch. if that's no problem for you get it asap
Great games just done another playthrough of 1 & 2 going to start 3 after I've finished remothered broken porcelain
I think I am the only person that found these games boring. The first game on particular had an amazing setting and great ending, but I found the gameplay sooooo boring and repetitive.
That’s a must buy at that price.
I only ever played Bioshock Infinite. Got it on Steam years ago, and probably played halfway and then got too bored to continue. The art design was insanely beautiful, but the gameplay just felt a bit empty, and I don't care at all about story in games, so that wasn't enough to keep me going.
Are the first two games any better in the gameplay department? Or is it more of the same? The shooting mechanics just felt really boring compared to a lot of other FPS games.
First Bioshock is a classic! Probably in my top 20 for sure....maybe top 10.
Second Bioshock is good, but too close to the first with less of the feeling you get playing through the first game for the first time.
Third Bioshock is great but I prefer the "under the ocean" setting over the "floating city".
If you've never played them, at this price there's no better time. I strongly recommend.
@dkxcalibur I quit halfway through the second game. Right when yij come up on the beach. The repeated assets bugged me and I realize most of the gameplay was looting boxes.
Sound tempting, but I cannot play 30 fps in first person any more. Hope that Metroid Prime 4 will be 60 fps.
@NeonPizza Are you sure about that controller name? I just did a Google search and it appears to be a errr…. self love tool? 😂
I have motion sickness in 30fps games.
Games i have motion sickness : all First Person Shooter 30fps, Capcom Arcade Stadium, Nights into Dreams, Grip, MXGP3, Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville (switch version).
I have to swallow a capsule of Meclin every time I play these games, so I abandoned it.
Honestly, the file size is what's been holding me off from buying. I don't like having massive games like that just bloating out my memory space like that.
I'm interested but I simply don't have enough space on my SD card!
@sketchturner I mean the first two games are masterpieces but if you don't like stories in videogames than I wouldnt recommend playing any bioshock game
Recently beat it. It was an average game
Always wanted to try these, but my options are:
1. Switch versions with 30fps and no gyro....
2. PC versions that have a ton of crashes apparently and you need to jump through a bunch of hoops to "hopefully" fix it
Yeah, they're dirt cheap at the moment but I"ll spend my money on something else instead.
Id rather pay more for a proper physical release, but it doesnt exist.
Great price, but i would play these on Steam Deck instead.
Must have trilogy on Switch. Games run fine(if there's any concern there).
Ok, time to go for it!
@sketchturner infinite is by far the worst of the 3. I don’t even personally really consider it a bioshock game it’s so removes gameplay wise from the others
@sketchturner Infinite is the worst one, Bioshock 1 and 2 are great games with different shooter mechanics, (Plasmids/Upgrades are different and allow for more customization/fine tuning, you have a larger roster of weapons and you can hold more than two, health packs vs shield/recharging health) There's a lot of differences between them.
As far as the story goes I think it's a lot more interesting/compelling than with Booker and Elizabeth. Plus there are more side characters/NPC's that are interesting and dynamic. It keeps you moving along and feeding you story elements throughout plus the atmosphere of Rapture is a lot more fleshed out than Columbia. I could go on about how much they dropped the ball on Infinite but alas this is a comments section, there have been many a good youtube video discussing that if you were further interested.
Bioshock 1 and 2 are often on sale on Steam if you have a half way decent PC. Usually you can pick them up for $5-10 bucks not sure about the price on the remasters. I can't say how they would run on switch as I haven't played them there. But I mean... they probably run better than they did on my jank low powered PC back in the day? Hoping anyways.
@BulkSlash I eventually got the trilogy "physically" for 20, because at that price, getting all three on a handheld, was arguably worth it. They were very decent ports, of great games, that I knew I wanted to play again, but I don't play on any home consoles anymore. But yeah, no gyro in a Switch fps, is like no mouse in a PC one, or no pointer aiming in a Wii fps.
@Shambo Totally. I’m mulling getting a Steam Deck as that has built-in gyro that you can turn on for any game. It’s a pity there’s no third party joy-cons that can be set to use gyro even if the game doesn’t support it.
I'm just skipping most games that don't deliver what I'd argue is the very least effort. Or, in other words, what is in my opinion a requirement for having a deal. It's not that I NEED games, I just want to enjoy some and there's plenty for that. Even way to much still to fully enjoy all the ones I'm sure I would enjoy AND are available in Switch sales at under 10 or even 5 euro's, so all the others quickly lose my interest, or just remain on my wishlist for years
I just found it to be really weird that they ported Borderlands at the same time, even made a Nintendo Direct appearance with a trailer combining all their Switch love coming up (with the X-COM2 collection as well), and Borderlands collection has gyro in all three games, Bioshock in none. X-COM still has 80% hit chance that misses 80% of the time to do absolute ZERO damage. Gyro can't save that, and has no place in a top down strategy game, but the game is great.
If they ever made such joy cons, and they work fine and fit in my hands like the Binbok ones I'm using, I might consider them.
