Twilight Princess is still the GOAT design. Just regal and menacing enough to be the perfect Ganon. The new one looks cool, but he’s too roidraged for me, and shorter hair always looks better for this King of Evil.
It had Kid Icarus and Diddy Kong got a shoutout, so I’d say it’s good. Peach was a little annoying, Bowser sang too much, and the pacing could’ve been better.
I’m gonna be cheeky and say the 25th anniversary version. It’s good, novel, and is controlled by the sideways Wii Remote, which is deliberately similar to the NES controller.
I managed to acquire free indie codes for Chubbins, Soon Shine, and Silver Falls: 3 Down Stars. That’s three bonus games! It was super nice of the devs to give them out.
Looking forward to the update! It doesn’t look like they’re nerfing any weapons I like, so that’s good.
What snack should I eat during Splatfest? I’d like something fitting for a monster/alien-themed event, but it can’t be candy. Not sure what’ll fit the bill.
I have… 1. a cyan 3DS from 2012 2. a cobalt blue 3DS (that my cousin lost!) since the R button broke on cyan 3. a New 3DS (small) upgrade that I bought with summer job money 4. a broken black JP-region 3DS for attempting repairs 5. a sky blue JP-region 3DS from when the Japanese eShop started sputtering 6. a white and yellow JP-region 2DS that I homebrewed specifically to preserve LM2’s ScareScraper mode
Will I someday find another 3DS? Perhaps… hopefully with Smash DLC so I can homebrew it to preserve that game’s online mode!
I’m bothered by the fact that he didn’t state whether or not he saved and will donate all the update data for the games. If you download Smash for 3DS in 2023, do you get the latest version automatically? Or do you have to manually update it after receiving the original file? Never done that.
He missed the 3DS Themes, but that’s a different mission, I suppose.
Hey, KDL2! They didn’t promise that one, so color me delighted! To all the newbies planning to play it, have fun, and good luck with the Cloudy Park Rainbow Drop.
I have most if not all of the GB/C games I want physically. But here are some suggestions: Kirby's Pinball Land Kirby's Dream Land 2 Donkey Kong Land 3 Chalvo 55 Revenge of the 'Gator Game & Watch Gallery Kwirk Amazing Tater Spud's Adventure Alleyway Perfect Dark Pac in Time Trip World Conker's Pocket Tales Mega Man Xtreme Mega Man Xtreme 2 Xtreme Sports And just for grins, the minigame that comes as part of the Bandai Pocket Sonar
My brother bought the original blue AGS-001 model at a garage sale, and he fell out of gaming in his teen years. I now play Game Boy/Color games on it more often than someone my age probably should.
I use one of my Internet usernames, Sarna, and cut it off to “Sarn.” Then I tack on a word that vaguely fits the game’s theme. Minish Cap had Sarnce (Sarn+Lice, referencing Link’s tiny size), Skyward Sword had Sarnky (Sarn+Sky, referencing the setting), Wind Waker had Sarnster (Sarn+Lobster, referencing the lobster on Link’s pajamas), etc.
Frog Bell has an unofficial English version that’s fairly inexpensive online. I’ve played the original raw (had to use a guide sometimes), and I’ve considered buying the fan version.
I’m annoyed with Nintendo’s strategy of giving Frye the choice with the statistically-largest following. Like with Spicy/Sweet/Sour last month, the child player base this game targets doesn’t have the palette to appreciate dark chocolate, and white chocolate is pretty niche as far as candy goes (could only find one white chocolate item in my local grocery store today). I dunno if this is intentional on their part, but it almost feels like a ploy to make players keep choosing the worst Splatoon idol and eventually warm up to her as a result. If it is, that’s clever, but a bit underhanded.
This minor price hike will make it a bit harder to receive as a gift. Most of my relatives can go up to 50, maaaybe 60 if that's the full price of the game, but 10 more than that is asking too much in their eyes. This pretty much guarantees I'll have to buy it myself after my birthday.
I’m guessing one of the small, forgotten series will return. BOXBOY!, Pushmo, Rhythm Heaven, Dillon’s Rolling Western, Custom Robo, Fluidity… maybe even a sequel to a one-timer, like Tank Troopers or Sakura Samurai. It’s high time one of those returned.
I went with Anna. I noticed the other units couldn’t reach S-rank with her, so I seized that opportunity. I’ve got a funny story about Fates, but I’ll save that for another article three years from now.
@duffmmann They sorta did that with Wario: Master of Disguise. It's a 2D platformer with the dash attack, but when you find a treasure chest, you have to beat a bizarre minigame to get the treasure.
Wario Land 4 is outstanding for GBA and 2D platformers altogether. I feel its recent reevaluation is deserved, though it can sometimes dip into Megamind territory, with people suddenly praising it as one of the greatest pieces of media ever created. But hey, at least they're both getting a lot of love from new fans!
Should Subspace return 15 years later? No. It should have returned 6 years later on the Wii U and then 10 years later on Switch. It never should have left.
Grapes were supposed to be a food item in Kirby Mass Attack. Sprites of them can be found in the files, as well as in beta background sprites for Dedede Resort. Official artwork of them exists, too, and was originally used for a KMA-themed Flash game on Nintendo’s website. I say “originally used” because it’s shown in the tutorial image, but when you start the game, it’s replaced with a second image of bananas that’s identical to the first one. This tells me that whoever made the Flash game figured out that grapes were cut from KMA, so he/she hastily removed it but forgot to change the tutorial.
I’m proud to be the only one in these comments so far to bring up Drill Dozer. I hope they revive that one someday, but preferably with some redesigned final stages. They get pretty annoying at the end.
I really want a Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. remake for Switch. Add a few chapters, a few new characters, and add some FE clone characters to cover the new amiibo (Celica could echo Robin, Chrom could echo Lucina, etc.). With the right marketing push and the bolstered FE fanbase, it could sell on the hyper-popular Switch. One can dream.
I can say this one since P5R is on the Switch now: The end of Persona 5 on PS4 irreparably damaged my opinion of the otherwise fantastic game. The rest of this post contains SPOILERS for the endgame, so stop reading here if that bothers you.
I was ready to have the 135 hour game beaten before Christmas, and when I struck down buff Shido, I figured that would happen. Instead, the story decided to keep going, now with Shido’s nameless lackeys posing a threat. So I entered the real final dungeon, and it wasn’t so bad. Then I lost to the Holy Grail (which is scripted) and everything from that point on was downhill. The final area where you climb the skeleton into the sky is quite possibly the least fun final area in any RPG I’ve played. It’s got one save point at the very beginning, about four tough minibosses that don’t save your progress after each, enemy formations that can obliterate you in an instant (one of them would immediately kill Joker in two unblockable hits if struck first), a rather gross enemy that my entire couldn’t defeat if I ran into it, and a truly difficult final boss. Reminder: The only save point was at the very beginning of this long, arduous room, so if you beat a mini boss but you accidentally engage an enemy as you’re backtracking, it may kill you and force you to redo that beaten miniboss. It’s infuriating!
Remember, the game had lasted 135 hours up to that point, I was completely satisfied with the story concluding before this, and now this atrocious gauntlet was holding me up right before Christmas. I considered giving up, but I stuck it out. I then complained to my cousin about my listed grievances, and he said the ending was flawless and I was just bad at the game. Couldn’t even get sympathy from my best friend after enduring the most frustrating, unnecessary ending to a gargantuan journey I’ve seen. Never again.
NA/PAL is best, but it's a weak Castlevania boxart. It looks as if Christopher just raced out of that gate, stopped himself from careening over the cliff, and then a monster dashed out from the same gate and Christopher is now doing a double-take. Like, did he not know the monster was following him? Why else was he sprinting away?
I’m digging Sand (pardon the pun), but I thought Festival was pointless in Star Allies and I think it’s doubly so here. It’s Crash and Mike all over again, but with significantly less legacy to justify its existence.
Real question: How come the exclusive poster and CD case, meant to entice you into buying the pricey Special Edition, show less Victoria cleavage than the cheaper Standard Edition boxart? From a business standpoint, wouldn't it make more sense to switch that?
For those who haven’t played the game, the tweet is pointing out that the Giant Palace map looks like an Emblem of Courage (the game’s collectibles) from above. I never noticed that!
All hail Billy, Rolly, Chick, and Bantam! Hope to see a revival someday, especially with its 20th anniversary fast approaching.

Re: Nintendo's Latest Switch Online Game Trial Celebrates Zelda
I tried the trial and died like five times without reaching the first dungeon. I can’t get into it, even as a Rhythm Heaven fan.

What are the best first-party eShop games to buy? I could rattle off dozens on 3DS and Wii U, but I'm drawing a blank for Switch.

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon was my first. It’s a good one.
