Only one of these I don't have is Mario Golf which I'm not interested in, but it wasn't part of the initial list so maybe they'll end up putting Strikers in the next batch after all.
This is the most I've seen mario games discounted! I used to it being like 5 dollars off! 😅
Is the Best Buy digital download just a code you get to download from Nintendo US eshop? So as long as your Nintendo eshop is US based you should be fine? I never purchased any digital games from anywhere but directly from Nintendo eshop.
Picked up New Mario Bros U and DK Tropical Freeze at GameStop. Had some points and gift cards to use. These are cozy games for me and I’m glad to be able to play them on Switch. Happy Mario Day y’all.
I should probably get around to playing luigis mansion 3, it looks pretty good but never wanted to pay full price. It's probably worth it for $40
@Deepdoop To be honest, I think it was worth the full price I paid for it. I'm sure you're gonna enjoy it
Im a Mario fan. I got them all day one. I’m not the target audience
@Doomcrow Right. It's actually advisable to get them that way before the games go on sale on the eShop itself if you're interested since it'll count as a $60 purchase when you redeem it and thus you'll get more gold points.
@Deepdoop Ehhhh, it's okay. I'd probably find it an easier recommendation at $20 but I paid $40 for it and it doesn't feel like I wasted my money or anything, even if I don't really want to play it a second time.
@1UP_MARIO I’ve had them all day 1 too (outside Mario Golf since I received that one as a gift, though I knew I was receiving it before it came out, so I’ll count it).
Really wish there was something new game related to celebrate the movie. It just seems weird to cross-promo the film with what are a series of old titles. Seems like a missed opportunity. Even just a new level or something in one of the titles would be nice, you know?
I wish we could get more than 20$ off 10 year old games...
Any discount on Super Mario Run? I had it for Android but now have Apple.
Good thing for me I can just head down to my local mom and pop shop and get an even steeper discount.
The real question is: Why aren't 3DS and Wii U Mario games on sale?
No Galaxy 2 no deal.
Where is LEGO Mario - the video game?
@somnambulance yes Mario day discounts are not for the Mario day 1 fans 😉
This should be the normal price for all of these games, Nintendo didn’t used to be this greedy... actually Tropical Freeze should be $19.99 by now before the sale
If Camelot didn't completely botch Mario Golf Super Rush then I would probably pick that up lol. I remember playing my brother's copy when I lived with him... it was such a slap in the face to longtime fans of the series.
@Deepdoop It is, wonderful game
I really do want to play Bowser's Fury, but even 40 dollars is a lot for wanting to play the extra game attached to 3D World. At least for me. Also I don't want to spend a lot of money for a while, especially with my backlog.
@somnambulance yeah I think we’re due a new Mario adventure but I’d happily settle for a galaxy 2 rerelease.
3D World is tempting…
Hmm between 3D World and Mario Kart, which one should I get?
Great games but love these “sales” for $40. Got to give it to Nintendo, they figured out how to make players pay full price years down the road making these evergreen
@kkslider5552000 Honestly I think 3D World's worth double-dipping on anyway. The increased speed drastically improves the game, plus there's the online co-op.
Bought Mario Maker 2 a few weeks ago at Target for full $60. Bought again for $40 and returned with receipt for first one.
@Ulysses Depends on your tastes, but get both eventually. I enjoying platforming and karting. Obviously, Mario Kart is a great family game.
Also, digital titles are convenient, but physical cartridges can be loaned, shared, and resold.
I own most of the ones here I'm interested in except Mario Party Superstars. Sadly, this sale is actually worse than the November black Friday sale for this game. At the time I didn't buy it for $30 because I was buying too many games.
@sd7232 smm2 is amazing; I hope you enjoy.
@Bigmanfan while I agree there should be bigger discounts by now, the Nintendo Switch debuted on March 3, 2017. So, it’s been 6 years, not 10.
@sd7232 I love Mario Maker 2!!! And nothing wrong returning a sealed game to take advantage of a just missed sale price.
I have made a few levels myself:
Super Mario Maker 2: LKN-HJG-91G
@DwaynesGames Will check out. Thanks.
Nintendo must shed tears whenever discount day comes.
@rmswriter tropical freeze released in 2014. Mk8 originally released in 2014. 3d world released originally in 2013. So maybe not exactly 10 years, but almost.
For those that live in the US, Target has most of the same games for the same price. If you pay with their red card, you save an extra 5 percent. I know it’s not much, but it does help. Especially the more you buy.
These really should be like $5-10 tops. I worked out the whole formula here and when you factor in the age and graphical fidelity and inflation and also that I want things for cheap it all makes sense.
@Potato-man This 33% discount is normal.
I wish I could buy nso games ie gba, n64 etc.
Even though I have them on retroarch series x, would be cool to own on my switch.
@Ulysses What @DwaynesGames said, but it also depends on how much you've played of the originals.
3D World itself is great platforming fun in both single and multiplayer, plus there's Bowser's Fury which is completely new and is arguably even better if shorter, a fantastic combination of 3D World and Odyssey.
Mario Kart is great, but while there is single player content in the form of cups, time trials etc. it's mostly a multiplayer game. From the start you get the base game and what used to be DLC on Wii U, but you can much further expand the number of tracks if you buy the Booster Course Pass or get it with the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.
I actually wanted Mario Golf but not at full MSRP. It doesn't seem to ever go on sale but now I see it is and usually the US eShop and Canadian eShops run sales at the same time but I just checked and Mario Golf is STILL $79.99 CDN full MSRP. Ridiculous. Guess I'll go back to my original plan and get a set of Switch Online Vouchers to get Golf & pre-order Advance Wars 1+2 and save about $26 that way instead.
@JohnnyMind Yeah, since I already own Odyssey and 3D All-Stars, I think it would be nice to choose 3D World to own all the available 3D Mario's.
On the other hand, I already have NSO+, so I can't help but feel like I'm missing out on extra content since I don't already own MK8D.
And I suppose that is exactly why Nintendo incorporates the DLC into NSO, to encourage all the people like myself who don't yet own MK8D/ACNH/etc to jump in xD
@DwaynesGames I agree! I'm open to buying some third-parties/Indies digitally depending on the sale, but, there's something special about collecting every single first-party game physically. Owning a physical library of Nintendo's first-party lineup is special.
Another thing I'm getting into is collecting physical Japanese copies, like Okami, Sakuna, etc.
@Ulysses I know way too well the sentiment, since I already had Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U I didn't buy Deluxe on Switch... until they announced the Booster Course Pass which I had thanks to NSO+, too XD
Anyway, it really just depends on what you'd like to play first, because judging from what you said I definitely recommend getting both eventually.
By the way, I don't mind buying any game digitally when they have good discounts, but I still buy a lot of games physically, especially first-parties, for collection, potentially lend them to friends and also because most of the time I preorder them on sale from a trusty retailer here in Italy!
