Re: Random: People Are Getting Pretty Worried About Splatoon 3

NerdyBoutKirby

A new mode and new idols, that’s all I ask. Just give me something that hooks me like Salmon Run did in 2017 and I’ll be good to go. But I’m growing concerned that’ll be a many-months-post-launch addition like Clam Blitz was in Splatoon 2.

The good news is that if Splatoon 3 doesn’t excite us, we can just pour more hours into Splatoon 2, Nintendo’s best Switch game. It deserves it.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Highlight Of Your Game Collection?

Some of my favorite pieces:
-Pandora’s Tower: Collector’s Edition, stitched together from various sellers over the years. Includes NA and PAL discs.
-CIB Player’s Choice version of Donkey Kong Country 3, stitched together from various sellers/traders in about a month.
-Kirby’s Super Star Stacker (Super Famicom) cartridge, in excellent condition and inside the original plastic sleeve. Cost only $60, which is dumbfounding for such an elusive game.
-Virtual Boy with box, and mostly-complete NA library. Stitched together over several years.
-Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Special Edition.
-Rare Kirby Mass Attack poker chip, given to GameStop managers at one company meeting in 2011. That was pretty cheap, likely because most people don’t care about Kirby’s secret best game.
-Cobalt blue 3DS with Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon bundle box. This one’s bittersweet because I lent the 3DS to my cousin and haven’t seen it in three years. Neither has he.
-Four pairs of DK Bongos. One of them has the letters “E3” printed twice on its underside, which leads me to believe it came from the E3 2005 show floor, where Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was demoed.

It pays to hoard plastic and cardboard.

Re: Watch: Is Five Years Between Splatoon Games Too Short A Wait?

NerdyBoutKirby

Five years is a long time for anything. I was halfway through college when Splatoon 2 launched, now I’m graduated and working. As long as each new entry has the gameplay I crave and new features to set itself apart, I have no problem buying a new Splatoon every couple years. That what we do for series we love.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Collector's Edition Goodies To Ship At A "Later Date" (Europe)

NerdyBoutKirby

To recap, Advance Wars and BOTW2 were delayed, Splatoon 3 has been drip feeding info to a concerning degree (shouldn’t we know the new idol characters by now?), and even the Mario movie got pushed back. Customers are still hostile to the $50 NSO Expansion Pack, and N64 games have been added pretty slowly for those who signed up.

Yeah, I can see why Xenoblade 3 traded places with Splatoon 3.

Re: Feature: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?

NerdyBoutKirby

I put DS and Wii. Look at your collection and tell me you don't have a massive pile of high-quality DS games. Both systems sold extremely well which opened the floodgates to developers making excellent games for them. Sure, some devs took the easy way out and made shovelware, but there was a glut of fantastic games and sequels on them. DS/DSi alone had two Mario & Luigis, three Mario vs. Donkey Kongs, two Zeldas, three Tingles, four Kirbys, three WarioWares, two Fire Emblems, two Chibi-Robos, two Fossil Fighters, two Starfys, 12 Pokemons (grouping pairs together), three Castlevanias, six Ace Attorneys, four Prof. Laytons, eight Mega Mans (grouping counterparts together)... and that's not mentioning singular games like NSMB, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Super Princess Peach, DK Jungle Climber, Star Fox Command, Okami-Den, Wario: Master of Disguise, and more! That is a cavalcade of quality for just one handheld line!

Re: Sakurai Reflects On Every Super Smash Bros. Fighter Reveal In New Blog Post (Part 2)

NerdyBoutKirby

The worst reveal was Byleth, but not for the reason you're thinking. They show Fire Emblem: Three Houses footage and then attempt to surprise you with the Smash Bros. reveal... in a Smash Bros.-specific direct. It was clearly designed with a standard Nintendo Direct in mind, but that didn't pan out due to scheduling. The same thing happened with Corrin's reveal in Smash 4.
