Re: Where To Pre-Order Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda

I love the G&W, so any that they make I'll buy. It's a fun novelty, and owning a small collection of novelties I can actually play sounds amusing. They probably won't make many more of these, since there aren't many popular series with pre-90s anniversaries to celebrate (Metroid, PUNCH-OUT!!, Kid Icarus... ot happening). Maybe DK will happen someday, but I'm skeptical.

I was unable to get the rewards I really wanted (Kirby’s 20th anniversary medal, Luigi’s Mansion 2 diorama), but the Kirby’s Epic Yarn patches were sweet, and I still use the Zelda 3DS game holder—they were supposed to send me the Pikmin one, but I didn’t want to make a fuss as they were going under. The best reward I got was Doc Louis’s PUNCH-OUT!!

Easily Game & Watch Gallery 3. Turtle Bridge, Egg, and Donkey Kong Jr are so addictive, and that’s excluding the other two mini-games and all the unlockable ports.

Though I’ll give major points to Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble and Donkey Kong GB: Dinky Kong and Dixie Kong (which isn’t listed). They’re also superb.

Technically speaking, I rearranged my number 6 and 5 slots just a few weeks ago, as my appreciation for number 6 has grown in the past year. My list will undoubtedly be a unique read, at least on this site:
1. Kirby Mass Attack (2011, played in 2012)
2. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (2004, played in 2005 and all throughout childhood)
3. Pandora's Tower (2013; played in 2015, 2018, 2021)
4. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (2013, played in 2013 and at various points in high school and college)
5. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (1996, played in 2011 and at various points in high school and college)
5 (previous). Kirby's Return to Dream Land (2011, played in 2011 and at various points in high school and college)

I’m really hoping big spin-offs return. Feels like these days when they make a spin-off, it’s cobbled together out of old parts, is pretty safe with Kirby’s typical mechanics, and is sold for a quick buck on the eShop. They’re fun, but they could be better in my eyes.

I’d love to see another effort like Rainbow Curse—with a new way to play (barring the Canvas Curse inspiration), a gorgeous art style, a new engine, and a retail release. The last one we had was Extra Epic Yarn, which while good was primarily a port of 2010’s Epic Yarn meant to keep 3DS sales going. Here’s hoping we can get another wild new game mechanic soon!

I adored TTYD throughout my childhood. It was my favorite game up until college, and now it sits comfortably at #2. The world was sprawling and interconnected, the story rich, the characters brimming with personality, the combat expertly crafted, the locales unique by Mario standards, the music catchy, and the recipes exquisite-looking. With treasure everywhere and a rewarding badge system keeping you customized, it's a marvelous RPG masterpiece for the ages!

Nintendo can't wait for those remaining discs to deteriorate. Then there'll be nothing to keep us from embracing the new ones (ignoring the fact that 64 and Super are both on the Wii U eShop for direct comparisons).
