We now know that the Switch has accumulated a grand total of 19.67 million Switch units sold worldwide, with 86.93 million software sales complimenting that number rather nicely, but how exactly is that latter figure split between Nintendo's top titles? Well, Nintendo has provided sales figures for its top-selling games to answer just that.
Below is a list of Nintendo's million-selling first-party offerings, with Mario's grand adventure unsurprisingly sitting at the top spot. These figures are all lifetime sales, spanning from the games' individual initial release dates to 30th June 2018.
- Super Mario Odyssey - 11.17m
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 10.35m
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 9.32m
- Splatoon 2 - 6.76m
- 1-2-Switch - 2.45m
- ARMS - 2.01m
- Kirby Star Allies - 1.89m
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - 1.42m
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - 1.40m
- Nintendo Labo (series) - 1.39m
- Mario Tennis Aces - 1.38m
Of course, Nintendo Labo: Toy-Con 03: Vehicle Kit is arriving in September, Super Mario Party in October, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! in November, followed by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December, so several more titles could also soon find themselves nestled within that list.
Do any of these sales totals surprise you? Do you own many of these best-sellers yourself? Let us know below.

Ker-ching!
Yay for 1-2-Switch & LABO series !
Pleasant list, although Odyssey topping MK8D came off as a surprise
@Bliquid Mario has ALWAYS outsold Zelda.
@Bliquid Mario has always been a bigger seller than Zelda (Mario had always been de customer darling while Zelda is the critics darlinf). The same for Mario Kart, it appeals to a significantly bigger target group.
Mario Kart 8 must be the most profitable game Nintendo has ever made. It's practically the same Wii U game, without any money spent on adding new tracks and they sold over 10 million copies. That's over 600 million dollars for doing nothing.
Poor Bayonetta
I own XC2 and Zelda off this list, with MK8 probably coming next.
@Bliquid that actually happened quite a while ago.
ODYSSEY! E-YESSY! OSYDDEY! E-YESSY!
I wonder how much of a cross-over all these games have?
I own SMO, MK8D, BOTW & XC2 & I’m also likely to pick up Smash & Pokemon Go.
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of ‘pull’ Smash & Go will have to entice those that have yet to buy into the system.
Impressed by the sales of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Kirby and Mario Tennis Aces.
Wonder how many 1-2-switch games have ended up in the second hand stores after a week of purchase.
I'm genuinely surprised that Odyssey is outselling MK8D, even with the latter being a port.
@Bunkerneath Most were sold to farm training schools, the milking simulator is a great training tool.
Man, those are some impressive sales for games on a system that's only been out for a bit over a year and has a total sales number of under 20 million units.
I always figured Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would be the big selling game on Switch. Kinda surprised to see Odyssey take no.1 spot. No doubt Smash and Pokémon will be big sellers. Definitely picking up Smash, but I’m not too sure about this Pokémon game yet.
There’s a few right time right place games(I don’t see arms or Mario tennis selling as well without being released during “software droughts”) I’m legit surprised at how well xenoblade sold though and it wouldn’t shock me to see octopath join this list
Nintendo shipped nearly 18 million copies of Switch software during the last quarter.
Good on DKTF. Poor Bayonetta, deserved a better push especially with a sequal announced.
Add the Wii U sales figures for MK8 to those of MK8D and it kicks Odyssey's butt.
@Nincompoop
That's assuming you look at it as an individual release and don't combine it with the Wii U version. Because the Wii U version while it did perform well for a Wii U game is still one of the worst selling versions of Mario Kart. If you combine the sales of Mario Kart 8 across Wii U & Switch? It's currently third behind DS/Wii. It'll need to move another ~20mill units to take the top spot.
Speaking of, another interesting observation. Just about every game on this list has sold more than the Wii U equivalent. In every sense the Switch is already well beyond the Wii U. It's kinda crazy how quick it managed to do that. Says something both about how average the Wii U performed but also how well the Switch is doing.
Bear in mind that Bayonetta 2 is a million seller, just split between Wii U and Switch.
Labo surprised me
Just over 50% of machines sold played a new copy of Mario Odyssey and under 50% of machines sold played a new copy of Botw.
Either
1. a lot of gamers don't like Mario and Zelda
2. or they can't afford the games
3. or there is a big second hand market out there.
That seems to show that games don't always sell consoles. If downloaded prices were lower there would be less second hand games being sold.
Wow labo
Nice to see Labo up there with the big boys.
@zool
Not everyone buying a Switch is going to get Mario & Zelda. Some will get one and not the other, a lot will get neither. I know of someone who got a Switch for Mario Kart and has also brought Tetris and a bunch of indie games. I see people on public transport playing Skyrim or Doom, these people might not be interested in Mario.
In any case, a 50% attach rate is insanely high for a game. The only other game I can remember coming even close to 50% was Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. If anything specific games having a huge attach is a bad sign for the system because it means there's not a deep enough library for people not to get that game.
@bratzdoll Nintendo first party only.
Bayonetta is 2nd party I believe because it’s made by Platonum Games
@TheMadPolarBear Ah, gotcha.
@skywake Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a port and doesn't need much development cost. Even if it sold 100 copies on Switch it's still profit.
So, wait, why are there so many doomsayers? The switch is clearly doing very well.
@skywake you may have missed my point. A bit over 50% have bought Mario Odysse as a new game, but many more second hand games would have been sold.
@Alpha008 Only the bottom 3 are games from this year... so it's not going well.
That’s insanely good for Mario Tennis Aces considering it’s only been on sale for little over a month
Pretty impressive to have 3 titles with a 50% attach rate at this point.
@BigBluePanda It’s even more impressive than that. These numbers only cover through June 30. MTA was released on June 22, so it sold well over a million in the span of 9 days.
@zool
I got your point I just don't get how you came to that conclusion. A 50% attach rate for a game is incredibly high. If you can read anything from these figures it would be that people buying the Switch are, more often than not, buying one or both of Mario & BotW.
@Nincompoop
If you want to frame it that way. The fact is that the Wii U version sold less than every other Mario Kart outside of Double Dash & Super Circuit. It was huge for a Wii U game but everything on Wii U under-performed. So Nintendo would look at this as their ROI coming back to normal again not some kind of unprecedented profitability.
I'm surprised that 2.45 million submitted to a bent-over position by purchasing 1-2 Switch. A lot of shameful faces I can imagine.
Glad Arms is up there but sad 1-2-Switch is higher. Still, nice number all round
10 mil for Both Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart? Zelda will be next.
Those numbers are insane
I was hoping Xenoblade Bayonetta, Arms and other 3rd parties did better
@TheMadPolarBear @bratzdoll There's no such thing as ''second party''. Nintendo published the game, so it would've been on the list had it sold a million copies. It's a very niche game, and I don't think it ever sold a million on the Wii U either. According to VGChartz it sold around 0.38 million copies. Even with digital, and a (big) margin of error, it's very possible it hasn't sold a million copies yet.
Very glad Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze broke a million copies this time, well deserved! I wonder what the numbers for Fire Emblem Warriors are like, since it wasn't published by Nintendo it wouldn't show up here even if it had sold a million
I find interesting how you can divide it into the Million plus sellers and the multi-million plus sellers. Also how much Japan helped boost those Splatoon 2 sales, whilst almost 90% of BotW sales are from outside Japan (where it still sold a modest ~1 million).
I also would love to see a chart breaking down 1-2 Switch sales by region and over time. I was under the impression that sales were reasonable in Japan due to love for its quirky nature yet the majority were in the Switch’s early months and thus failed to catch on as an evergreen title (I think around 15K sales last quarter?). Anyways, some impressive numbers there.
@zool
A 50% attach are for any game that isn’t a pack in is insanely high.
Odyssey sold more than Mario Kart??
And Arms being beaten by 1-2 Switch is a travesty lol
So when you include the Wii U version, Breath of the Wild is the best selling Zelda game in history.
You'd think they might have mentioned that!?
Are you saying Mario Tennis Aces sold 1,38 in a day or two...?? Can't believe it. If it keeps selling like that, it's going to overtake Splatoon 2 before the year ends...
By the way, ARMS sold over 2 millions already. Pretty good for a new IP! People better stop saying it was a flop...
@BigBluePanda No, this list is until 30th June, so Mario Tennis just released by then. Those numbers are for the first day or two out. It's REALLY impressive...
Three games that have sold more than any PS4 exclusive game with four times more consoles than the Switch has sold so far.
Nintendo is still the software king!
One day I'll grab a Switch....but so far, nothing is currently available that I really want. I like Mario, but not enough to buy the Switch for.
A new Zelda....will be tempted...especially if the console is a limited edition too....
@Bliquid People seem to love their Mario games... Odyssey was great, but... It was just great. BotW was a freaking masterpiece. I bought that game 3 times. Once for myself (Switch obv), once for my sister (she is still stuck somewhere because she is horrible at games but enjoys travelling without looking at the map) - and one for my best friend (including a Switch) because it's a must-play game. (And now I have a written agreement that I do not have to buy birthday or xmas presents for the next 2 years for said best friend, ayyy)
I'm glad to see that ARMS has crossed over the 2 million mark. It's my favourite game on Switch and I believe it deserves a sequel. Hopefully it gets one!
Wow for Labo <3 Nice list!!!
@DrJoson Koei Tecmo said they shipped a million copies of FEW. They didn’t give a breakdown of sales per platform, though I would imagine the Switch version sold much more than the 3DS version did.
@Dezzy BOTW had already become the best selling Zelda game by the end of the last quarter, so that’s why it isn’t mentioned here.
@Nincompoop So making a new game mode, the revamped battle mode, is doing nothing? At any rate, Mario Kart Wii sold like 35 million or something. The combined sales of 8 and 8 Dx still aren't even near that number.
I'm actually surprised that Odyssey is on top. I thought that game basically fell off the radar. I see and hear virtually nothing about it. I'm not interested in it at all but I guess a lot of other folks are.
@FlimFlam
Yes but I don't think they've officially announced it. You'd think they would. It's pretty big news for a 30 year old franchise.
@Dualmask
Mario games have a massive appeal with the mainstream casual audience.
Those people mostly don't go on gaming forums to discuss things.
They are cheating with Labo by combining it into one entry, but good to see it's shifted so many.
@Dezzy That’s true. The franchise also recently crossed 100 million unit sales, but I don’t think they mentioned that either. I’m not sure why they haven’t made any official announcement yet.
1-2 Switch, Kirby Star Allies and Mario Tennis Aces, don't deserve a place on that list.
@Bliquid I bought it on the Wii U before buying a Switch. I suspect I'm not alone.
I'm laughing at the sales of 1-2-Switch, Kirby, Labo and Mario Tennis, because it sticks two fingers up at all our resident experts' opinions. Long may they sell and drive the crybabies mad.
Also good to see Donkey Kong doing well, that should help recoup those development costs.
@Nincompoop Does that name describe your understanding of software development?
Maybe you could explain where I stick my Wii U disks to make them run on switch...
@Sabroni You are asking a person named Nincompoop to explain things to you?
@Nincompoop MK8D is not a straight port, it did add some characters, karts and most importantly an actually fun Battle Mode. So I wouldn't say Nintendo did "nothing".
I'm glad DK is selling well. I'm obsessed wih it. I hope this means that a new DKC game may be on the horizon.
All around good news, but it does show that 2018 isn't Nintendo's best year in terms of software output. I've actually turned towards third parties in the last few months. Enjoying some Payday 2, LA Noire and Doom.
Why people don't buy Bayonetta? Is such a good game...
Go ARMS! I’m so glad it did so well. Such an amazing game. Now put Springman in Smash, please.
@bratzdoll bayonetta is not a Nintendo first party game
bayonetta is not a first party game.
I wonder what Michael Pachter is doing on a day like today?
It's incredible that so many games I would not have thought to be million sellers are million sellers. I'm genuinely surprised Xenoblade 2, a niche RPG hit those numbers. That's good. That means Monolith will continue to receive improved funding for their projects, and IMO they can use the extra funding for polish, but if anyone deserves it, they do.
And look at that performance of 1-2-Switch. Some people really love that milking game.
@WiltonRoots Well, good sales doesn't always mean the current direction of a game should actually deserve to be rewarded and encouraged to continue, even though the market seems to gobble it up. I mean look at GTAV and Battlefront 2.....
ARMS finally surpassed 2 million! Ah, I’m ecstatic. It’s my favorite game on Switch and totally deserves to be up there with the heavier hitters!
Now, let’s just get one of the ARMS characters in Smash Bros, pretty please, Nintendo??
Bayonetta probably would have sold more if both games were available on cartridge by default (or at least made available in such a form internationally).
It amazes me that Nintendo released such a generous bundle with both games in a box with separate cases for each game at a ridiculously low price (I only paid $69 for mine) when Bayonetta 2 was released on the commercial flop that was the Wii U, and yet Nintendo are being so ridiculously stingy this generation, in spite of the Switch's runaway success. I'm sure the 9GB mandatory download in the west would have put off a lot of people, if nothing else.
@liljmoore bear in mind that is the list of nintendo's million sellers and not all software million sellers (not even bayonetta is included as first party)
@Bliquid Being available on Wii U probably cut into its Switch sales a fair bit. Regardless, BOTW is a good improvement for the series in regards to sales.
@FX102A I believe 1-2 switch charted on UK top 40 every single week or close to it. .
This isn't necessarily an inclusive list of million sellers on Switch of Nintendo games, it is just their top 10 titles. NLife have added the combined Labo figures in themselves (which Nintendo haven't done in their list) from the financial report info. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/software/index.html
Tell me a good arcade PS4, Xbox game that offers so much fun and, most importantly, an insane 4 player local coop mode.
Right. I can see MK8D top Odyssey in a couple of months, possibly only surpassed by Smash Ultimate, but that is still highly unlikely.
@JJ286 well I was definitely not sold on the gameplay but bought bayonetta one as it was cheap. It is a button masher and even tough the story was actually no bad to follow I hated the game and will never touch anything like it
@Octane jeez VGchartz are a waste of time when it comes to sales figures these days. It's worth as much as quoting Wikipedia as fact on a university paper. The last correct figures on Bayo2 had a sell through of around 380k units 9 weeks after release, (edit, my bad)so up to mid April, who knows where they are now. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/04/the_switch_port_of_bayonetta_2_has_outsold_its_sister_version_on_wii_u
1-2 Switch outselling ARMS. Nice.
(I own it, though, so who am I to critique lol)
The big reason I don't have Zelda on Switch is I've already played (and beaten) it on Wii U.
@toffeecrit So, still pretty accurate. 50-80% of a game's sales happens during its first week(s). VgChartz doesn't include digital (20-30%), and there's always a small margin of error (they get their numbers from other tracking sites like NPD, which many people take as gospel). So around 0.5-0.6 million I'd say. Maybe a closer to 0.6 since VGChartz is always a couple of weeks behind.
Still need to get the labo kits. Too many games, not enough money...or time.
Very surprising that Mario Odyssey topped Zelda, but still those 3 in the spaces they are are also not a surprise against the rest.
I'd be more fascinated by NON-Nintendo figures. With 20m~ units out there in 16mo the sales look pretty solid.
49.54M are the Nintendo totals up there, 37.39M units otherwise unaccounted for from the other guys. Not bad at all.
Three games over or near 10 million units, in just one and a half years. Impressive!
I'm surprised Mario Tennis has almost caught up with Xenoblade, having recently launched. I guess this is the sort of stats that tip the scales when deciding what type of game to work on next.
Bayonetta 2, as great as it is, wasn't going to be in that list, just based upon the fact that's an M-rated game (and for good reason). Still sold a healthy amount, though. Even I didn't know what to expect when I first picked it up. But I love it with its over-the-top ass-kicking witch panache. xD
@Nincompoop An absurd, exaggerated statement. Read any technical review of Kart 8 on Switch, and you'll see the amount of work and care that went into porting it to Switch. It's a terrific port and far, far more than "nothing."
@nab1
Mario Tennis Aces is developed by Camelot, while Xenoblade 2 is developed by Monolith Soft. Don't worry - one series isn't going to kill off the other.
@westman98 I know, my point is, in general what would you be more likely to fund, a massive game with lots of characters, story, art, etc, versus a "simpler", smaller sports game, if both get you around the same number of sales.
I think this line of reasoning is why we haven't gotten more Metroid games for instance, and a whole bunch of Mario party games.
@Ogbert Seriously. 2 million for ARMS is great news, but it's still trailing 1-2-Switch? Come'on people. If you own a Switch and don't have ARMS, you can go to Hell
@nab1
I mean, that concern applies to everything.
> Why would Rockstar make Red Dead 2 when GTAVI will sell 4-5X more?
> Why would EA invest in a new IP like Anthem when the next FIFA and Battlefield will sell 3X more?
> Why would Ubisoft invest in new IPs like Mario + Rabbids/Skull & Bones when the next Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy game will sell 2-3X more?
Publishers want variety in their lineup to please shareholders and consumers. This is especially true for Nintendo, a platform holder who needs a variety of games to sell their own hardware.
HEY, FANBOYS! Switch is DOWN year-on-year sales, not up!! Told you so, told you so, told you SO!! Who was right? Who was right? I WAS RIGHT!! Told you sales were DOWN, because NPD kept saying PS4 was topping the monthly charts, NOT Switch!! You all said Switch was higher than last year, but Nintendo's report today shows it LOWER year-on-year! Good luck with a SPINOFF Pokemon game, and a game that didn't push many Wii U's pushing Switch systems! Fanboys want to know why Switch owners want 3DS dead, THIS is why, if they didn't spend time/money making 3DS games, then they wouldn't have Switch droughts right now, and Switch sales wouldn't be lower, they'd probably be up! Kimishima has seriously screwed up Nintendo by refusing to merge 3DS development into Switch, because if Wario Ware were on Switch instead of 3DS, we'd have just another game to keep its momentum, not to mention higher sales of the game as the 3DS was massively down (like 70%) year-on-year! It was DOWN nearly 50% in America as well, proving Reggie Fils-Aime is a flat out liar who said 3DS sales were up in America- if they're up Reggie, why did it go from 420,000 in 2017 to 200,000 in 2018?? Does he count backwards?
10mil for MK8D eh? That sounds like the numbers it "should have" gotten on the Wii U. That's the only reason I don't bemoan the ports-- For those that missed them on the Wii U, these games deserved to be experienced by the most gamers, and Nintendo should have made this much profit to begin with. Better late than never.
@pika677
> Switch shipments were down 4.5% YoY, which is hardly a significant drop off at all. Even PS4 shipments were down YoY despite God of War's massive launch...Guess that makes it a flop too??
> Pokemon Let's Go will be huge. Can't believe why people think otherwise.
> 3DS sell-through in America is up YoY, while 3DS shipments in America are down YoY. Sell-through != Shipments.
I’m surprised Zelda isn’t #1. Congrats to ARMS and Labo for making it as well!
So, this is only first party games?... Hopefully theres a few third party million sellers too.
Bit of a drop off in sales after Splatoon 2. We need some more heavy hitters/'ever green' titles.
This is only to be expected since the Switch has been so popular recently. I actually saw an ad for Mario Tennis Aces on a street in Sweden recently, which probably is the first time I've ever seen a Nintendo ad here, so that's a good sign.
MK8D and BOTW probably would have sold a decent amount more if they didn’t have Wii U versions. I’m really glad Odyssey has as much as it does, it’s an amazing game. I know it’s Mario, but the 3D games usually don’t sell quite as well as the 2D games.
@Moon Mario Party will end up on this list, and the Pokémon Let’s Go games and Smash will probably be near the top of the list.
It's a surprise for sure. With all the software sales Nintendo has seen since the NES days, I am thought there would be a further sales decline as there is not enough room nowadays for people to have more Nintendo games in their homes. The Earth must be full of used nintendo games now.
Wow, look a those numbers. Impressive! The Nintendo Switch prints money.
Looks like the 2018 games did pretty well already. Kirby, Labo and Mario tennis have pretty great sales. Even a port like DKC Tropical Freeze seems to sell well. I am looking forward to seeing the sales of Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let's Go and Smash Ultimate
I’m glad to see Arms, Labo and yes, my favorite drinking party game, 1-2 Switch, on the list. Does anyone know how well Doom, LA Noire or Skyrim have done on the Switch?
@pika677
Are you OK? You don’t seem OK. You can tell us.
Really impressed with the numbers for a Zelda game. For a comparison Skyward Sword on Wii sold just 3.96m. Now it competes with Mario for the top spot. Surely a breath of fresh air to the franchise. And let's not forget it was a game that was designed for a dying system! (wii u)
@judaspete I'm allowed to not like Arms.
I think I buy enough other games to make up for Nintendo's profit loss from me not buying one copy of it. 😋
@NEStalgia I of course mean it in a jokey way, I'd like to think it would get into peoples' heads in here that they might need to think more before making armchair analyses...
@Octane I take your point, thought Bayo had released earlier tbh, however I would still wager the % differential sales figures between vgchartz and actual sales is high; too high.
I'm guessing this doesn't include 3rd party stuff?
@zool
If there were more choices, I would have personally passed on Mario, if not also Zelda. Limited options drive sales - I would have bought the console for Xeno 2, Octopath, and Fire Emblem. (and a real Pokemon)
I would bet that Nintendo 1st parties sell more on their consoles than similar games on PS (Horizon, Uncharted, God of War, etc). a 50% attach rate is pretty remarkable (Zelda was 90something% at launch)
@toffeecrit You would've had a point five years ago when they calculated their own numbers (even though they were more often pretty accurate instead of plain wrong like some people want you to believe).
Anyway, let's compare their numbers with Nintendo's own numbers. VGChartz only tracks physical, Nintendo only tracks both (digital and physical). If we assume a 20% attach rate for digital[1]:
Odyssey: 9.5 * 1.20 = 11.4m vs 11.17m
MK8: 8.4 *1.20 = 10.1m vs 10.35m
BOTW: 7.5 * 1.20 = 9.0m vs 9.32m
Splatoon: 5.5 * 1.20 = 6.6m vs 6.76m
1-2-Switch: 2.0 * 1.20 = 2.4m vs 2.45m
Pretty darn close if you ask me! The margin of error on BOTW is the highest with 3.5%. That would equate to a margin of error 0.02m for Bayonetta 2's sales, if you want to go that far. Anyway, it's closer than I thought it would be. So there's that. It's more accurate than some people think it is, that's for sure.
[1]: Nintendo says it's a 3.6 ratio, which equates to 21.7% digital vs 78.3% physical: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-11-17-nintendo-switch-is-dominated-by-physical-sales-game
Doesn't this list include 3rd party games? I know most 3rd parties that are available on the Switch are ports of old games but i expected Skyrim and Doom to at least reach the million target?
@Razer
The list only contains 1st party games.
Skyrim is a million seller on Switch. Doom is not.
@westman98 okay this needs to start changing, Nintendo need to learn from their dumbass mistakes and start releasing figures from 3rd parties as well.
They keep putting their own games first then dont even mention 3rd party games and wonder why 3rd party developers dont give them the time of day.
They should have been shouting it out to the whole world that a 6.5 year old game sold 1m+ on their hardware in less than a year... instead they say nothing and developers start ignoring Nintendo and really we suffer for it.
See this is one of my biggest gripes with Nintendo...
@Razer
If 3rd party publishers don't want to unveil the sales of their games, then they won't reveal the sales for their games.
FIFA and COD sells many millions of copies on PS4/XBO, but we never get exact figures because EA and Activision don't disclose them.
Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo can't force 3rd party publishers to reveal internal data against their wishes.
In fact, Nintendo is the only publisher that reveals the exact shipments of their own first party games at a regular quarterly basis. Sony and Microsoft almost never unveil the exact sales of their first party titles outside of their biggest record-breaking hits (God of War, Uncharted 4, Last of Us, etc).
@Alikan Every time someone buys a Switch and doesn't get ARMS, God kills a kitten.
@judaspete kitties, nooo! 😭
😺😸🙀
Aw yeah, glad to see ARMS hit the 2 million mark just a year in! Fingers crossed we get Spring Man in Smash-nothing for ARMS confirmed yet, but with Snipperclips getting music, I'm sure ARMS will get something.
Glad to see a few other million-sellers too, especially Labo. I didn't think it'd do that well, but I'm hardly upset at being proven wrong
@Andrew5678 Even if it's just as DLC, I'd like to see an ARMS character or two in Smash. Dr. Coyle would be my choice, but I don't think she's popular enough to make the cut.
1-2 Switch will soon outsell every Mario Party game outside of Mario Party 8, 9, and DS, despite being a less-than-stellar launch title.
This bodes well for Super Mario Party. IMO It could sell as much as Mario Party 8/9/DS, given that the game appears to return to the series roots and will be the first Mario Party game with online play. I think people are seriously underestimating the selling-power of this game.
@Octane
Just because Vgchartz doesn't track digital sales (as they say) doesn't mean their numbers are suddenly legit, especially outside of Japan where getting exact sales figures for most games is incredibly rare.
@judaspete Spring Man and Ribbon Girl have the edge since they're on the box, and the former is pretty much the face of the game.
Besides those two, Dr.Coyle has a bit more significance than most of the roster in that she's pretty much the main villain for the game, and Smash could always use more of those. Also, her ARMS would be entirely unique to Spring Man's (no other ARMS has teeth after all XD ), and her mobility in the air would be a good counterpart to Spring Man's ground control.
@westman98 I hear nothing but good things when people get together with a Switch to play ARMS, and 1-2 Switch is doing better than anyone would have guessed. I can only imagine the fun had with a game solely built around local co-op party games with a robust experience, and years of history and refinement to it.
Whatever the case, Super Mario Party is breaking a million, easy. MP10 managed nearly 2 million on the Wii U, and I'd bet theSwitch iteration won't stop there, especially if they go above and beyond with implementing the Switch's functionality, as seen in the trailer.
@Andrew5678
2 million is way too low. Mario Party 8 and DS each sold 9-10 million copies - I expect Super Mario Party to sell that much when all said and done.
@westman98 I never said that... I just used those five examples to show that (adjusted for the missing digital numbers), they're incredibly close to the actual numbers Nintendo just released. Pretty good for a site that's ''not legit'' and always gets their numbers ''wrong'', no?
@ekwcll people still aren't buying it though. Take with a grain of salt, but either way, it's not doing as well as people are led to believe: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/04/the_switch_port_of_bayonetta_2_has_outsold_its_sister_version_on_wii_u
Unless it somehow managed to sell over 500,000 copies suddenly, it's going to fail to make the list.
@westman98
"The list only contains 1st party games.
Skyrim is a million seller on Switch. Doom is not."
Source from Bethesda where it says it surpassed 1 million?
@westman98
> Switch shipments were down 4.5% YoY, which is hardly a significant drop off at all. Even PS4 shipments were down YoY despite God of War's massive launch...Guess that makes it a flop too??
Well, let's see, the Switch is supposed to SURPASS what it did the year prior, and it's already BEHIND, so what do you think?
> Pokemon Let's Go will be huge. Can't believe why people think otherwise.
Show me a SPIN-OFF Pokemon game that has EVER been a system seller. Why do you fanboys ASSume that the 10's of millions who bought MAINLINE Pokemon are suddenly going to support this?
> 3DS sell-through in America is up YoY, while 3DS shipments in America are down YoY. Sell-through != Shipments.
Nope, try again, the sales are DOWN according to NPD, you fanboys are insanely gullible! In fact since you'll believe anything, I've got really cheap land in the middle of the ocean for you. As gullible as you are, you actually believed me!
@pika677
Pokemon Let's Go is not a spin-off. Outside of wild battles, the game functions like other core Pokemon games - it is a turn-based RPG where you collect, battle, and trade pocket monsters. The same cannot be said for the actual Pokemon spin-offs i.e. Mystery Dungeon, Rangers, Quest, Battle Revolution, Snap, etc.
And according to the NPD, 3DS sell-through is up 7% YoY in June and up 2% YoY year-to-date in the US.

And since when did I cite Vgchartz? I think Vgchartz is trash.
But I guess you won't read this reply since you have me blocked. Good riddance.
