I’ve always wondered why Nintendo doesn’t have its own online store in North America. Seems like a huge missed opportunity to sell directly to a massive market.
@ryancraddock Two of the hyperlinks at the bottom of the page are wrong. The Smash Bros Ultimate link takes you to the GameCube Controller page, and the GameCube Controller link takes you to the GameCube Adapter Page. The GameCube Adapter link is correct.
The game link leads to a controller, controller link leads to an adapter and the adapter link is also an adapter. Anyone else get this problem? Or does anyone else have the game link? (Tried to google it myself already)
Update:
They fixed it. Didn't have to wait for long. :3
@thesilverbrick I assume the idea of directly mailing out to a hundred million American homes is too daunting for them. They'd rather let our gamestops, megastores, and massive webstorehouses take care of all that shipping and handling and itty bitty logistics. Less terrifying in the UK where Nintendo fans are a niche hobby audience compared to the unwashed masses of American consumers who will consume everything.
As an American though: yeah, why doesn't our Nintendo store sell all the things like the UK store. 😅
I think it's time for me to move on from the GameCube controller with this smash. Time for a totally fresh experience.
@Alikan Well what I don't get, is that the Pokemon center has an online store in the US, but Nintendo world in NY does not.
@Knuckles Thanks! No idea why they messed up, but should be fixed now
@ryancraddock You're welcome. I figured something probably happened during formatting, especially since the last link was correct. Glad to see you fixed it quickly.
£60. Good luck with that. It's under £43 at Simply Games.
£60! Never did understand why all my friends have always viewed Nintendo as greedy....
In the long run Nintendo would have more money out of me if pricing was better
That's weird, just like with the Wii U, they claim that the GC adapter is 'designed excusively for use with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch.' This despite the fact that we already know the adapter works with nearly every Switch game.
I’ll be just the only sane person and download the game onto my system like I do with the rest of my games in my game library. Saves physical space and having easy access to my games with a single button press is far more enticing.
Wait, no preorder only characters or skins? Surely a starter boost pack so we need not unlock all the fighters is available, no?
Got, got and double got. I’ve ordered two of the controllers, mainly to use with my Gamecube, my original ones are knackered.
@NinjaWaddleDee If buying new $90 controllers every new console generation is your thing, nobody is stopping you from doing so. But I don’t really see how providing a good-quality, inexpensive option (one that many if not most Smash players already possess in some quantity) could possibly be a bad thing for a game that demands lots of controllers.
All ordered
Are these new controllers exactly the same as the original GameCube controllers (aside from the Smash logo in place of where 'Nintendo GameCube' is usually written)?
@King-K-Rool Should be yes, in theory you could even use this controller on an actual Gamecube (And Wii with Gamecube backward compatibility).
Yup, gonna be one expensive Christmas this year. All this, the amiibo for Inkling Girl and Ridley, and then buying presents for everyone else.
Interesting though the adapter doesnt solve the problem of not being able to do 8 player Smash with 8 Gamecube controllers.
Ah well, not like I was going to buy 8 controllers for 7 people I don't have to play with. XD
@Angelic_Lapras_King Thanks! That's my plan actually, to buy one for use with my GameCube so I'm interested if the size, weight and feel of these new ones are the same as the originals. And the rumble feature, of course.
@Angelic_Lapras_King you’ll need 2 gamecube adapters for 8 player smash.
@1UP_MARIO And how many USB ports does a Switch have? Get my point?
@Angelic_Lapras_King 2. I get what your saying but you only need to use one usb. I still have my Wii u adapter hooked with the only one usb connected at the back
@King-K-Rool Yeah, these should be the same as the official Wii U Gamecube controllers (The black one everyone got and the white Japan got, all with the Smash logo), which were pretty much the same as the originals.
Just this time ya know, new colour/design, another thing for us collectors to nab. Hell, I'm sure the adapter will either have a Switch logo or nothing att all replacing that Wii U logo. XD
@1UP_MARIO Huh. They kept that secret. XD
@Angelic_Lapras_King Yeah, the second USB is just for rumble
@Angelic_Lapras_King he beat me to replying to you. 2nd grey usb is only for the rumble.
£60!!! that means the digital version will match it. Smash is a game to get digitally as it will be drop in and out so much, but screw £60, ill jump to the US store and get it for £45
@thesilverbrick https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/
Amazon US has had it available since it was first announced. Prime members can also save about 13 bucks.
I want to be able to pre-order with the Ridley amiibo.
@Euler : I hope the Smash Controller app on 3DS will be updated to support the Switch version as well (or they can just make a new app, if necessary).
It's not a dealbreaker though. Lugging along 8 Joy-Con is a lot easier than 8 Wii Remotes.
The Gamecube controller is sold out.
@jswhitfield8 some are already cheap. Upgrade, muh dude. Evolve.
Ah man already sold out
@FangDragneel If you mean if they will make SSBU for the 3DS, then probably not
