In yesterday's Nintendo Direct, we got our first glimpse at one of the characters set to make an appearance in Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and Star Fox fans around the world were no doubt shaking with Direct-hype excitement. Yes, we finally got to see Fox's rival, Wolf O'Donnell.
Nintendo didn't share too many details about Wolf's inclusion in Ubisoft's upcoming space adventure, but we do know that players will have to defeat his team in special 'Star Fox missions', exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game. You can see the character's full reveal in the video below (from the 27:31 mark).
Wolf has made several appearances throughout the history of Star Fox titles, debuting in Star Fox 64 as Fox's long-time rival, and going on to appear in games like Assault, Command, and Zero. Nintendo fans who haven't played these games will also likely recognise him from the Super Smash Bros. series - he was a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (and will be returning in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) and has also appeared as a collectable trophy.

EPIC!
Loved the voice!
Actually the voice cast for this game is spot on!
Still not sure about this game, but the video with him was pretty cool
Seems like Ubisoft are putting more into making this a Star Fox game than Nintendo have done with the franchise recently!
I want to play as Wolf! but they probably won't let us do that
I like the Star Fox cross-over, but frankly, after watching some 15 minutes of gameplay footage the other day, my interest in this is pretty much gone. It gave me flash backs to No Mans Sky most of all, and that game didn't really work for me tbh - not at all. So yeah, like a kids friendly NMS with toys-to-life attached. That might very well be a recipe for commercial success, but it's also scratching an itch I for one just don't feel. Maybe it'll help a new Star Fox along though ... that would be ace
@Arpie yeah it's very sad huh lol
@Ralek85 NMS sucked on PS ... The Xbox one version is better... But starlink looks way better and the switch seems to have the best version thanks to Starfox
@BMO_Advanced
Can't let you do that, BMO_Advanced!
Seriously why does this game look 1000x times better than any Star Fox game that has been released in the past 20 years? It's really great to see the Star Fox cast in full motion and in this level of HD, actually feels like a proper evolution of the series.
@Tarolusa Honestly I know they wouldn't do this in a million years but I seriously wouldn't mind if Nintendo just handed over all the rights of the Star Fox franchise to the developers who are making this game and then they became the studio that created all the Star Fox games from that point onwards. Still holding out for the Star Fox racing game but I'm pretty sure that was just a baseless rumour after all :/
Really looking for ward to this one.
During the entire article, I couldn't shake the thought "SF64? Didn't he debut on the SNES?". After a quick research "Oh, right. Star Fox 2"
I like Wolf, and I'm really enjoying the voice actors choice
@Tarolusa it's because shiggy I've no idea what to do with the franchise is not involved!
The voice for star fox sounded like Jeremy Irons!
Is this so?
To quote Wolf from SSBB, "AWOOOOOOO!!"
@Arpie Agreed, I get the same notion, and that's the only reason I'm debating if I want to devote time to this game.
I'm really looking forward to this one now. I'm happy to wait and make sure that it reviews well first though. No pre-order for me.
Wolf gnawing on... someone's arm was so unlike Nintendo's forays into dark matter, that it was hysterical. Nintendo's third-party crossover always bring interesting concepts on the table without them being too out of place (the clip was uncharacteristic for Nintendo, but far from out-of-character for Wolf) and that's why I'm so into them.
Mario + Rabbids, Hyrule Warriors, Pokémon Conquest, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Bayonetta 2, Pokkén Tournament and now Starlink Battle For Atlas. I love it.
It was a nice video
Ok Ubi, you won. You can do a StarFox next.
When Starlink was first announced I honestly wasnt interested at all. Sunk tons of money into Disney Infinity and got burnt when support for the game abruptly came to an end so I’ve pretty much sworn off all toys-to-life games. After watching the Direct though, my feelings have changed. With the Star fox figure and the ability to use him for the entire game, it makes this pretty much a glorified star fox game, and that’s something I can’t pass up. Don’t think i’ll sink money into anything more that the starter pack and fox figure but I look forward to playing this game. Yesterday’s trailer really got me hyped.
They look so good!!
This has little to do with Starlink itself, but while Smash Bros Brawl will always be the epitome of Star Fox voice acting, Wolf's voice acting here tugged at my heartstrings quite a bit.
The scene of Wolf eating an arm, instantly reminded me of DBZ..
This game though, it just doesn't feel like Starfox, too bad because the cutscenes and voices are great. Always liked the original 64 voice actors.
Cool video, but the game itself will be poop.
