@axelhander If that were the case why would all other electronics be getting more expensive? Wouldn't other manufacturers just Switch over to "superior" and "cheaper" Chinese RAM? They haven't and can't, because you're a liar.
@NPC411 You clearly have not looked at the cost of SSD's recently. Between November and now an 8TB Gen 4 went from $600 to $1400. This is absolutely a supply and demand problem when it comes to components used in the Switch. Guess what, ALL of your electronics are about to become stupid expensive thanks to "AI." It's not just a Nintendo problem.
@Axecon Bro, there are major RAM shortages due to the nonsense AI hype. This isn't an article about Nintendo, EVERY electronic device is about to get majorly expensive.
I still think there's an aspect of Nintendo Derangement Syndrome that has persisted and intensified since the Sega Does What Nintendon't days. People have loved Nintendo games, many times it's been said they want Nintendo to go the way of Sega, they never stick the landing in the ecosystem. If it weren't for them doing weird, slightly odd things, we would have reached boring 1983 Atari-levels of saturation long before now. Though I think we're on that precipice now anyway.
Certainly Nintendo has never been allowed to be successful more than once in a row. Begrudingly the Wii worked, but the hardware was weak. Ha ha, WiiU suks! (it was actually a lot of fun.) The Switch was a brilliant idea and Nintendo was successful. Too successful. Leading up to the Switch 2 the console was supposed to be an abysmal failure that wasn't gimmicky enough, because Nintendo either sucks because of gimmicks or sucks when tjey DON'T do enough gimmicks. Also wasn't powerful enough. Steam Deck (which would not exist if the idea were not made successful by Nintendo) was better. Then the console did okay, though December was quite a sales cliff. Now every Nintendo game sucks. Mario Kart sucks, too expensive. Nintendo is raising game prices and ruining the industry! Meanwhile Sony and MS had already done that on the 360/PS3 and Nintendo did not, but that was okay then. Donkey Kong sucks! It's pretty fun, not a flagship-level game, but fun. Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction finally done right. Metroid Prime 4 is the worst thing ever!!! It's a 7, unfortunately. Uninteresting puzzles/level design and the Mines are excruciating. Stupid amount of scanning too. It has some great technology behind it and now that Retro isn't being forced to polish another companies turd a Prime 5 could be excellent, if the younger developers can figure out proper pacing/level design. Something I feel is lacking across the board, not just at Nintendo. One thing that was lacking from Prime 4 that Drwad did right in 2D and Doom Dark Ages did in 3D was melee combat. Too many primary enemies in 4 were melee centric and the inability to strike in close is like going backwards.
To me it seems like somebody needs Nintendo to flop for some reason and any and every issue is being weirdly magnified online.
It would be a much bigger problem, actually. That would mean Playstation is the only console left and Sony are happy to go down the Atari stagnation route. It would be 1983 all over again.
Interesting, over the years I've gotten a lot of games for Christmas (SMB2, the SNES and SMW (favorite one), FF3(yeah, yeah... 6), Turok 2) but somehow none of them stuck as a Holiday tradition. Oddly, I got Dracula X for my birthday (two days before Halloween) and I do always play that on Halloween, though.
@Lilligant562 Your analogy is the flawed one. A non-chef can still have an opinion on flavor. And even judge it as bad. Non-film makers can say films are bad. Non-musicians can say a song is bad. Non-game designers can say a game is bad.
@Teksette If you only got the first Annihilation you still won't know. She was in Annihilation Conquest, the second one. Also, outside of Annihilus/Bugs, this really has nothing to do with that run at all.
@Jumwa I'm in my mid-forties and was able to pull it off. My bigger problem is that modern game designers don't know how to layout maps and their quick travel points so they're convenient for late game content. It's a chore getting back through parts of that map.
Halo is the result of collective wish-fullfillment. There wasn't anything fun to play on that new XBox so people convinced themselves Halo was a classic when it was mediocre at best. This happened a lot with Genesis-only kids too.
@metaphysician Except Phyla-vell and Beta Ray Bill were not part of Annihilation. Phyla was in the sequel. The Guardians in this comic series were completely unlike the MCU versions, which were based on the re-boot series that came afterward. They killed off Starlord and Drax in this series.
Basically, nothing about this makes sense. None of it took place on Earth and most of the roster was fighting each other on Earth during Civil War.
Gonna be honest, I actually thought the NES games that were converted to 3D on the 3DS were the best ways to play them. The simple graphics allowed a great foreground/background look that really made the old games look fresh but retain the 80's charm.
@LikelySatan "The Genre?" The one I've been playing since the 80's? They keep doing the wrong thing, their combo systems are not terribly deep, and are basically the same pattern again and again. And if they're aiming to appeal to long-time fans their chosen art design goes against everything a long time SoR, TMNT or Marvel fan would want. The level designs are at their best when they go the member-berry route and mimic a 35 year old game and they don't come up with new stuff. They're okay, they animate better and control better than the older games, but none of them are genius works by any stretch of the imagination.
I saw a pre-order for these up at one of the import sites the other week but there were no pictures and I didn't know what it was. I wonder how they'll scale with the Figma TotK Link?
"I've already seen some comparisons online to Monster Hunter in the approach that Marvelous is taking, you can see it in the combat trailers and other things that they've released so far, but in practice...wow...yeah, it really does feel quite like a big robot take on Capcom's series in its more modern form."

Re: Marvel Maximum Collection Revives Six Classic Superhero Titles On Switch
@breach187 It's the lazy option given every screen is now wide screen and there's netcode there is only a lazy reason to not do it.

Is the X-Men Arcade going to have a dual screen mode?

To be fair, Metroid Endings change depending on speed/percentage. We'll have to find out just how interesting or not the actual end is.
Re: Review: Marvel Cosmic Invasion (Switch) - Up There With Best-Ever Arcade Marvel Games
@Teksette Galactic Storm is nothing like Annihilation.
I wouldn't say "fortunately" however, Conquest isn't nearly as good and Phyla Vell isn't interesting at all.
Re: Review: Marvel Cosmic Invasion (Switch) - Up There With Best-Ever Arcade Marvel Games
@rvcolem1 I would go as far as say that both of those games did not have combat that was up to par, either.
