Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

Mommar

The problem all of these QuadA developers, and Lanning, all have is that they don't realize where their demographic is anymore. Not every adult can sit their fat asses in front of a sixty inch 4K TV and play anymore. Adults are up and on the move now, they have places to be and the Switch is good enough to get the job done. They're stuck in the same immature mindset from a devade or fidyeen years ago when everyone my age DID have time to sit around all day. Tjete's a huge audience for the Switch, it's the only consile I can personally play, but they're all resisting change. Until Sony knocks it off, then it will be brilliant, yaddah yaddah.

Re: Creator Of Cancelled Metroid Fan Game AM2R Is Looking Forward To Samus Returns

Mommar

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want to make a fan version of a Nintendo game (or anything, really) give ZERO indication you're working on it until it's 100% done then dump it on the internet where it can be torrented, etc and regardless of what the rights holders tell you it's already out, available and can't be easily killed off.

Re: Remake of Metroid II, Metroid: Samus Returns, Announced for 3DS at E3

Mommar

Unfortunately it's made my MercurySteam. I feel like the animation suffers from the same sort of stiff animation as their previous Castlevania game. Also, it has no atmosphere.

The swatting mechanic seems overused as well. Just watching the bit of treehouse stream it looks like you have to swat damn near everything all the time.

Re: Review: Blaster Master Zero (Switch eShop)

Mommar

@WrongChops Yes, we did. Even at 25 years ago not every game got a review, and at 36 years ago even less of them did.

The point of my post is that I'm capable of making my own choices without some dumb third party telling me what I like. I've played games for nearly forty years, I can tell what's good and what's bad without somebody else telling me what to like.

Re: Review: Blaster Master Zero (Switch eShop)

Mommar

@WrongChops News flash, we used to buy games all the time before there were reviews. We didn't used to have game reviews and had to judge things by photos and game covers only. Now we can watch videos and figure out if the gameplay suits our style.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller

Mommar

"An evolution of the excellent Wii U Pro Controller, the Switch variant retains the basic shape and input layout, save for the fact that the face buttons and right-hand analogue stick have swapped positions. This makes the pad feel more akin to the Xbox 360 / Xbox One controller, which is no bad thing in our book."

I think you meant to say that it's back to being like the Gamecube controllers were.

Re: Matching Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons Sure Look Pretty

Mommar

I really wasn't in to those optional colors but now that I've seen the single left and right colors paired up I'm really digging the blue. If only there were optional L-versions with a proper D-Pad then I would buy an additional pair in that color.

Re: Poll: A Week On, How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

Mommar

I'm in a position that feels unique but that I think is actually extremely relevant. My mother had a stroke back in 2015 and requires constant attention 24/7. When I'm not at work I'm with her at a facility keeping her company, working on physical therapy or helping her feed. Her facility is a long way from my home so when she does sleep I'm stuck with nothing to do really. And since I'm never home I haven't played a console in about eighteen months. The 3DS has kept me company in that time but I'm interested in deeper experiences. I could bring my Laptop but it's bulky and difficult to transport/setup/move out of the way if a medical situation arises for my Mom or her roommate. The Switch is about the perfect compromise.

Other people travel often for work, some commute to NYC from places as far away as New Hampshire and take multiple buses/trains/etc... to get to and from work with little more than a half hour to get things done before sleeping. They can play console-like games in transit now.

My Cousin has his own truck driving business and due to regulations if you make too good time driving through a state or you drive for some pre-determined length of time you are required to stop for a few hours or be fined (they actually check this as you enter and exit states electronically.) If he pulls over to a diner, etc... it's easier for him to whip out something small like his phone or tablet to keep himself occupied, especially in towns that don't have a movie theater. The Switch lets him play a full-size console game for an hour or two and then get back on the road.

There's a lot of potential here in places people might not expect. In places I haven't imagined yet. There's a lot to this little guy and I'm very excited for it.

Re: Nintendo Switch Memory Can Be Expanded Up To 2TB

Mommar

Something I've noticed nobody has asked, can you swap in and out multiple microSD cards? If you can quickly and easily do that then you won't even have to worry. Carry around several 256 or 512GB's and you're more than good to go.

Re: Guide: A Breakdown of Confirmed Nintendo Switch Games and Release Dates

Mommar

@FX102A The other thing everybody keeps getting wrong is the issues with the price and with power. YOur PS4 is slightly cheaper, your PS4 is a bit more powerful. You can't play your PS4 in the car, on a plane on the train. The Switch is different. You're getting the best of Console Nintendo plus on the go. Hopefully third parties realize that's a HUGE untapped market. A lot of people these days are busy. I'm lucky to spend more than an hour at home, therefore a more powerful PS4 or XBone is useless to me. I can't play them. The Switch I can, I can play your console game at slightly less graphic fidelity anywhere I am and I can have the luxury of playing at home too when granted time. That's HUGE. And cannot be compared with the other two strictly consoles.
