I get that a leverless layout may be superior in terms of input speed and accuracy but I play games for fun and if I'm using a "stick" I want the stick. It's most of the appeal of the accessory for me.
Coo that 8bitdo is servicing different markets though. I hope one day they release an arcade pad with a spinner and trackball. Would be so cool for an emulation set up.
Idk if it's lowered expectations due to the last showcase or not but I thought this one was excellent. Not everything was my cup of tea but there were a bunch of games that are and I think most gamers would have at least had a game or two to look forward to from the line-up. Really great stuff.
If that keeps them in business and development that's not bad news. Obviously independent would be better but Atari have been doing well. Steam World Dig 3 please!
Noice. Very cool idea. Would be awesome to get some more games based around the mouse feature. Arkanoid type games are an obvious choice. MS dropping AOEII on switch would be awesome.
Would love Rayman 2. Got it with my N64 but was never able to beat it because I didn't have a memory pak and the cart had no save function.
@wiiware That'd be so cool. Idk why sega themselves don't do a multiplatform app or service. They could do it like NSO if they want to do subscription or that Capcom Stadium game if they want you to buy individual titles. It's like they can't be bothered putting out any retro stuff past the 16bit era or selling Sonic 1-3 for the 39th time.
@AG_Awesome but if they had the option at launch they couldn't get a bunch of people to double dip in a couple of years when they drop the inevitable upgrade.
And tbf, I might actually be tempted for this one. Happy with it as is but yeah, given the extra power and how it helps with the Switch 1 library it'll seem like a more attractive prospect for me.
I much prefer it this way. It's mario kart, not smash bros. And as he says, the roster is already massive with legitimate Mario World denizens. There's also plenty of mario characters not in that they can explore. T-Rex from Odyssey would be fun!
I picked up a glass screen protector even though I was hesitant as I'm terrible at putting them on (my og switch looked awful between the bubbles and a big dust spec). Glad I did though as it turned out perfect. Had a frame you put over the Switch 2 for a perfect fit and then took a few minutes to work the bubbles out to edges and I'm very happy with the end result. No dust, no bubbles. I could be imagining it but I feel as if it now attracts less dust than it did the week I had it as it was out of the box.
I'm not completely on board with the new look but I'm sure I'll get used to it in time. It's not like it's bad or anything. Just different from the DKC DK I've grown up with.
@Scollurio It's baffling to me. Companies are so enamoured with the idea of subscriptions but I can't help but think that if they let people buy the games outright (and had a much larger library on offer) they'd make way more money. Hell, they could have their cake and eat it too by selling the games and having a smaller library like we have now on rotation with the subscription.
That said they've done both ways on a few very successful systems now so they have the numbers, maybe they know better.
They need to work out a way to remaster the old Layton games. I know it'd be a bit of a pain due to the dual/touch screen nature of the originals but I reckon they'd move a ton of units if they put the effort in.
Well deserved. I'm not a big smash guy but the amount of work and love he has put into that series is close to unmatched. He would have made Nintendo sacks of cash too. Not just in Smash sales but in the way the series rejuvenated interest in Nintendo's lesser known IP'S. I bet they sold a bunch of Mother games and merch because of him for instance.
Will this collection have enough Street Fighter to make the Street Fighter collection not worth it for a casual player? I've eyed it off on sale across multiple platforms but never pulled the trigger. I've barely played any Street Fighter really and have leaned more towards Tekken/Soul Calibur and MK when it comes to fighters. Even those only casually.
This looks like it might offer more value in terms of variety but still have some SF content too.
It's got to the point where I can't imagine a reality where Nintendo doesn't hugely disappoint with retro content. From Wii until now they've been glacial in their rollouts. And to make it worse they basically start from scratch each generation. 3DS and Wii U weren't too bad by the end given the era but it took ages to get there. The Switch solution has been utterly abysmal. The expansion pass as it currently stands is just about the worst value in all gaming, especially if you're not that interested in the Mario Kart or Animal Crossing content.
They could have a phenomenal service that made the switch worth buying just for the retro catalogue available. Instead we have what we have. 5+ years in and we've got half a dozen N64 games and no hand-held stuff.
@Orokosaki it's not a zero sum game. They don't have their AAA dev teams on NES port duty. It's an emulation service, you don't need EAD in development and Myamoto directing the efforts.
I'd hope that whatever they do for TESVI is much too advanced to run on Switch. I'd also hope we have something other than Switch to play by the time the next TES drops. Who knows with Nintendo though. That might be when we get Gameboy games on NSO...
@ATaco Karl will just add it to the list. Hopefully Notch would back him in a potential lawsuit for this case too.
My feeling is they won't proceed with a lawsuit because if he doesn't fold they leave themselves open to deposition. Given the history of the auction house I don't think that would be pretty.
The world's best gamer sued because he's a fragile clown. These people just want to run their dodgy scam.
Why don't they just create their own IP? No idea why they put so much effort into stuff like this they know is going to be shut down. I have zero empathy for them.
So they spent a couple of million taxpayer pounds to build a terrible looking mound, then charged them for the privilege of walking up it... Oh, and to give that extra kick in the guts that wasteful councils love they hired a Dutch firm to do it. Great work.
Who cares about "official" methods. Original hardware is great if you're into that but otherwise emulation is the way to go. Bugger Nintendo. They've sold us all the same games half a dozen times and their support for retro games has been abysmal this gen.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Roguelikes, Roguelites And Run-Based Games
I just picked up Cobalt Core and feel it should get a spot on the list.
Massive shout out for including Rogue Aces btw. It is such a gem. Nothing mind blowing but it's super charming and tons of fun.
Re: 8BitDo Announces 'NES40 Collection' Of Peripherals, And They're Up For Pre-Order Today
That controller would look so much slicker without all the text and dates on it.
Re: Sonic Team's Boss Wants To Put More Sonic Characters In The Spotlight
I don't think they understand that the majority of their characters are pretty lame to people not super into the Sonic extended universe.
Re: Team Ninja Founder And Industry Veteran Tomonobu Itagaki Has Passed Away
That's very sad. Way too young. Vale, Mr Itagaki.
Re: Review: Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Stellar Battles, But A Step Down From Arceus

Re: Review: UFO 50 (Switch) - A Wondrous Smorgasbord Of Retro Delights
I'm around 10-11 games in atm (the bird strategy game) and really digging it. Very creative stuff and I'm excited to see all the other games.

Thank goodness for independents.

Re: Persona 3 Reload Is Making The Jump To Switch 2 This October
Isn't Persona 3 already on Switch? I swear they re-release the Persona games more than Sega pumps out Sonic 1-3.
Re: PSA: You Can Now Remap Super NES Controls With Nintendo Switch Online
@Revolution_Falls 100%. Started it the other day and the default controls are abysmal. I created a control profile specifically for it.
Re: PSA: You Can Now Remap Super NES Controls With Nintendo Switch Online
That's cool. Saves me from using the system profile swap thing.
Hopefully this points to them doing further development on the apps (please get rid of the always on profile/border!)

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's Game Boy Library With Three More Classics
@DwaynesGames Agreed on both points. When I saw the early talk of the NWC game I thought it would have been a no brainer for the top tier of NSO.
