Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin isn't far away from its 9th July release date, and a 'trial' demo drops this week on 25th June. Ahead of that demo's release Capcom has decided to share the story's opening cinematic, which you can watch above.
It starts off with a rather neat scene of a celebration in a village. It then cuts to some story-setting and a pretty rapid escalation; of course if you want zero spoilers pre-release you should skip watching it.
With the success of Monster Hunter Rise in the Spring it'll be interesting to see how this sequel RPG spin-off will perform; Capcom is certainly eager to continue the IP's growth after the breakout sales of Monster Hunter: World and of course Rise.
Are you planning to pick up Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on Switch?

Why is Capcom marketing this one so heavily? It feels like we've had like five different story trailers already and constant reminders this game is coming up.
I'm super hyped about this one but I have to say, they went completely overboard with the advertisment for this game. It feels like we got 1-2 trailers every week for the past few weeks. That's just a bit much imo
Once again no thanks I would like to know as little as I can.
@RupeeClock probably bc of raise's sales.
@RupeeClock Because they want the game to sell well?
@mariomaster96
I mean naturally they want the game to perform well, but I'm surprised how hard they're pushing this title in particular.
It's like they're banking on this one selling really well, when I'm not sure that it will given it's spinoff status.
@RupeeClock "It's like they're banking on this one selling really well, when I'm not sure that it will given it's spinoff status."
Yeah I think exactly that is the reason why they advertise it so much cause it seems like a really quality game but as you said it's just a spin off and not a main Monster Hunter game which already sells millions of copies just because it is a main Monster Hunter game. And therefore they have to show the people that the game is worth the money
Love MH. Love the world. Love tactical RPGs. Got it preordered. Will play through it and then pick up MH Generations ultimate, because I can't have enough MONSTERS!
Can't wait for the 25th to start the game (I feel like I would definitely buy it but these demos from the start of the game are awesome to make sure it is a game for you)
I think i kinda changed my mind a bit about Monhun Stories 2 after playing Yokai Watch 3 Tempura 3DS for more than 115 hours.
I felt i have more interest with Yokai Watch 3DS games than Monhun Stories 2.
Well, people's interest can be changed anytime.
Did NL get to preview this game? I'm interested in seeing one, tbh.
this looks fantastic. another AAA Quality title for the nintendo switch.this looks like its own game. and the story looks fantastic. this is how 3rd party games are done another master piece from CAPCOM.
At this point I'm confident they've burned through all the profits of Rise in marketing for this game. I sure hope they had at least a pizza party in the office before they spent it all. By far the most marketed game I've seen in awhile.
If they wanted the game to sell well they should’ve make enough special editions for scalpers (I hate scalpers) and regular customers, I mostly wanted the game for the Rathalos and since I didn’t manage to preorder one I just wait for a price drop on this one
At this point i think i've seen the whole game.
Still waiting for a uk collectors edition.
@Anti-Matter for me it is the other way around, I never liked the gameplay of YokaiWatch games (played all 3, 2 and 3 were okayish but 1 was terrible)
However I did like their story and world, just hated the gameplay mechanics.
But each to their own, I know a lot of people that for example love FF7, I hate that game.
I've watched the very first trailer and some combat gameplay only.
Game looks good visually, combat seems interesting as well. I will definitely try the demo.
Excited as I am for this game, I think I'll hold off from watching this trailer. I've also skipped the Treehouse footage (From previous experience, the demo goes through the first few hours of the game). I feel I know quite enough from previous trailers and wish to be surprised on some aspects of the plot.
@IronMan30 Looks like NL just put up some first impressions. Very welcome indeed.
@Tyranexx yep, glad to see it.
This game looks so beautiful
100% thought that was a BOTW2 cinematic before reading title.
Looks and sounds great!
Can't wait for the early access-I mean "demo"!
