Facebook is a joke. I still remember how a while back they were refusing to take down dogfighting groups which people were reporting en masse. But hey, a cartoonish butt on a square crosses the line.
"Buy our 60€ controllers which only work for a bunch of thirty year old games, after getting the privilege to do so by purchasing our online service. We're practically giving 'em away."
They're making a big deal out of this, yet you can unlock everyone faster with the reset trick than you could in Smash 4, despite there being far less characters to get on that one.
Hell, to prepare setups for tournament in Smash 4, not only did you have to unlock the characters, but also one of the Animal Crossing legal stages by playing the Events. Now that was an organizer's nightmare.
The only reason this is seen as a potential problem is that the game just came out and obviously not everyone is up to speed with the unlocks just yet. This'll be a non-issue down the line. In fact, all my friends and I have already unlocked all characters and we're ready for organizing a tournament next week.
Funny how the actual amiibo looks much closer to Sakurai's facial traits than either of the concept art pieces. Usually it's exactly the other way around.
@Syrek24 So many lines just to openly announce you're an ignorant, petty, hateful scrub. It's not enough to just enjoy your games differently, no - you need to actively hate on other people for doing their own stuff. Pretty darn pathetic.
Great piece, congrats to the writer. I'd love more of these.
The competitive scene for Ultimate is going to be an interesting one to follow. With more characters than ever (and more of them seemingly tournament-viable than ever), there should be a lot of variety in MUs and a lot of excitement for spectators.
Sounds even worse with Miyamoto deeply involved, to be honest. He says they want to avoid the film's depth to be paper thin and that's what they're gonna get with Miyamoto's approach to literally everything.
@WreckitRyan I think it's kind of self-explanatory, really. The English-speaking fanbase is the most selfish, loud and obnoxious about what they want, so he's specifically asking them to can it.
As Mopati said above, whether this'll be good or pretty awful mostly depends on the variety of obstacles/gameplay, amount and placing of checkpoints, and other such factors that make or break trial&error-based experiences.
I do like the artstyle, though, so that's a decent plus already. Other than that, I'll have to read impressions to decide.
Having a really good time with it myself. I'm veering more towards a 7 (due to how A ranking missions depends solely on the number of turns you take, which directs your hand towards doing rushdowns with just a few units), but still a solid strategy game for sure.
I'd always been curious about the franchise, so I'm glad I finally jumped in. I'll definitely play the others afterwards.
Wow, that was quick. Just the other day I was seeing vids of Joseph getting to levels 31 and 32 (which is insane, since 29 is the death screen) and commenting on how he should start preparing for tournament play. And now he beat Jonas? Damn, this guy is something else.
Thanks for the heads-up, NL. I need to check out the match.
Hopefully the final game'll be good, but all the delays have really done a number on my interest. Can't really say anymore that this'll be a Day 1 buy. The company putting off the game inevitably means I'll be putting other games before WG.
@Anri02 Yup, I don't think they should be completely exempt from it, but still, as far as I can tell, this is mainly a Nintendo-side problem. I guess the Rainway folks expected them to be rational (like the others) and jump onboard something such as this. So their main fault would be that they should have known better than expecting Ninty to act logical.
They don't want to blatantly say it, but it's pretty much obvious that stubborn ol' Nintendo is not up for it and has been the direct opposite of helpful in bringing the app to their system. Most of the backlash the Rainway team has been getting should be directed at Nintendo instead.
@ItsOKToBeOK Again, putting on the Super Crown turns you into Peach, not into a genderbender version of the character who wears it. I don't know what's so hard to understand about that.
@ItsOKToBeOK Not really. The idea for Bowsette came from an item for Toadette called the Super Crown. When she puts it on, she transforms on Peach, except with a mushroom on her head and whatnot. It follows that the Bowser equivalent would be basically Peach with horns and a shell.
@nhSnork Yes it did. I'm not sure whether the writer is unaware of that fact or is trying to spin this obvious thing as a new feature, but it's silly regardless.
How about Warriors Orochi 4, the biggest Warriors game to date with 170 playable characters and pretty much none of them clones? I'd argue that deserves a mention.
This writer is deluded beyond belief if he's actually equating Nintendo's game offers to what PS or XBox dish out. Even arguing that the offerings are proportional to the price would be hilariously over the top, but this is on a different level. It's still a pile of thirty plus year old games that have been relaunched ad nauseam, even if you get them all at any time.
Plus he seems to be the angriest one of the bunch. There's a lot of passive-aggressiveness in both the article and his subsequent comments. He begins with an imperative ''quit complaining'', then can't take it when other equally non-PC people lash out at him in return. Kind of funny to behold.
Here's the thing: I don't believe there is much else to know. There's the different prices, cloud saving and a handful of 30-year old games. That's about everything they've come up with in this year and half since the Switch came out.

Re: Valve Reveals Steam's Top Played Games With A Switch Pro Controller
I do use the Switch Pro Controller a lot on Steam, although from those games I think only Rivals of Aether was one.
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Development Has "Reached Its Peak"
Sounds great. Still confident on this one's quality, although I won't believe the 2019 release thing until I've got it in my hands.

Looks nice, anyway.
Re: Random: Pikachu Receives Unfortunate Age Rating Placement On Spanish Smash Bros. Ultimate Box
Well damn, those look as awful as ever. As a Spanish player, that's yet another small reason why going digital for this one is not a big deal.

Cool mod, although they could have done some work on the face. Link's neutral facial expression doesn't really mesh with Bowsette's character.
