@Zelda79 I don't think it's hardly the same gesture, but I was referencing the Inkling pose that was censored in a Mario Kart 8 DX update where the character would flex an arm very similar to Sakurai here but place their other hand over the bicep. Apparently this is offensive in parts of South America and elsewhere.

Kind of misleading. It's not an Amiibo. Amiibo is an official product line made by Nintendo. I can't go buy this from Nintendo and use it in Smash Bros, which is what I was thinking when I clicked on this article.

....It'll be funny if he became an actual fighter. lol

I never thought Nintendo would actually release an Amiibo of their senior employees, yet here we are.

Funny how the actual amiibo looks much closer to Sakurai's facial traits than either of the concept art pieces. Usually it's exactly the other way around.

That amiibo came out great. It really looks like Sakurai

Lol He would actually be an awesome character. His attacks should be like that of master hand, shooting lasers out of his hands or summon characters something like assist trophys. Alternate costumes: Iwata, miyamoto, ayonuma, or reggie. Would be fun to do final smashes on reggie, and one of his signature moves would him putting his chest up and yelling: my body is ready and then send him flying of screen lol.

@Bobb @LinkSword I noticed that as well. It's as if the person who drew the 2D art didn't know Sakurai was Asian and just drew him as a Caucasian and went overboard with the pink coloring.

Also, if you Google "Asian caricature" you'll see eyes that are a lot smaller, maybe just a line. The thing with a caricature is you get things emphasized, so if you have anything big - eyes, nose, ears - they'll get even bigger, and if you have anything small - eyes, ears, nose - they'll get really small. Now a lot of people would consider that offensive, and maybe it is, even in a caricature, but the 2D artist seemed to have gone out of their way to give Sakurai Caucasian eyes. And really bushy eye brows.

Also a big curvy U-shaped smile. I dare you to find a pic of Sakurai smiling like that. 98% of his pics are straight faced, and when he does smile his lips are straight across, he's not a clown.

The actual amiibo is pretty good though, that I can believe is Sakurai. Even the artwork of the amiibo is off.
