Damon Baker might not be quite as famous as certain other employees who work at Nintendo of America, but he's definitely not far off. Now, in an unexpected announcement, Baker has revealed via Twitter he will leave Nintendo after more than 12 years. In 2019, he will pursue a new opportunity and promises fans this won't be the last time they hear from him. Here's the full message below:
Baker started out at Nintendo as the global manager of brand licensing in 2006 and transferred across to the role of head of third-party marketing and communications after three years. He began his current position as head of partner management in 2016 and has since become more involved with the Nindie scene. Below is an amusing clip where he helped promote Runbow:
From the entire community here at Nintendo Life, we wish Damon all the best in his future endeavors.

He seems like a great guy. Damon Baker for Runbow DLC as tribute, make it happen.
Always sad to see a namesake leave...
I hope whoever replaces him does as good a job. He has big shoes to fill.
No idea who this is honestly, but I have no reason to wish him anything but success in his future career choices.
I really like his #Nindies presentations! I’m sad to see him go, just like Dan Adelman – the previous third-party relations manager – a few years ago.
Was he fired for allowing so many shovelware from 3rd party?
Good for him if it’s a solid opportunity. Will miss him in the Nindies Directs though.
He was pretty instrumental into turning the Switch an indie haven after some pretty terrible years with the 3DS/Wii U.
Wishing him well in the future.
Haha, I love Reggie. Also...Damon Baker for Smash confirmed???
@Retupmocnin We're gonna need to see proof.
You'll be missed, Damon. Some amazing games have hit Nintendo's platforms thanks in part to this guy's efforts. I wish him the best.
I just read Application Letter. He said thanks to all gamer fans.
kinda weird he didn't say what the opportunity was
@StephenYap3 The proof is in the eShop.
Hey NintendoLife, Nintendo released a Christmas video with Toad singing Joy to the World. Spread the Xmas Joy to everyone:

If I had to do marketing for Nintendo's latest third party lineup, I would quit also.
Hopefully ends up at a good firm with top tier accounts. GL!
The fact this man lived through the WiiU and kept both his job and his health is impressive. Definitely a legend.
Good skills (luck is for noobs!) with your future endeavours.
It reminds me when Adam Boyes left Sony...
The result was terrible and I hope Nintendo will handle the situation better than how Sony did... :/
Better than the guy who's taken his place on the nindie showcases.
@ALinkttPresent it's not weird. Maybe he's going to a competitor. Nintendo wouldn't be happy with that headline. Easy as that. Hell probably reveal it when he starts his new job. That's how it's normally done.
I am willing to bet Damon jumped before he was pushed or was let go. Someone had to take the fall for that false FIFA Xmas event on Switch from last week.
He seemed to have done a great job. I hope Nintendo has a good replacement.
He either jumped to a third party or is making his own startup. I don't think he was fired or pushed out, like some conspiracy theorists are saying.
I liked this guy. Wishing him best of luck in his future endeavors.
Bigger and better things, the days of staying at a company...even a good one for 40 years are done I think. People want to spread their wings professionally.
@Retupmocnin How is that related to this article? And Damon Baker wasn't fired because of what you said, but he left the company on his own terms. Did you even bother to read the whole article?
@Alantor28 my golden rule is if you have to ask if they read the article they probably didn't.
Don't know him at all but I'm sure he'll be ok.
@Retupmocnin Troll alert!.........Or ONE BIG A**HOLE!
@IceEarthGuard Thanks for the alert, but where's the big ant hole?
That was quick!
Damn, I really liked him
Well he sold me on steamworld dig 2 good luck man
Best of luck in his future endeavours.
That's too bad - I really liked this dude.
Looks like somebody got caught making fun of Reggie's Japanese
@ALinkttPresent not really. Most often people don’t announce where they are going. He may not want Juntendo to know, or he may not want us to know. He may be going somewhere that will no longer be customer facing. Or he may going to work on something secretive. Or a competitor. All are reasons that it is common to not announce where one is going.
Damon Baker has only made a public name for himself in several fairly recent Nintendo Directs including the Runbow advertisement above. Outside of that most people probably haven't heard about him. Still he's one of the many that help things flow at NOA and will be missed. Best of luck to him in the future.
